Chapter 2

Sakura woke the morning after the storm with her husband's arm on her waist and his breath rushing against her skin as he held her to his chest. Turning her head a bit she looked at her sleeping lover and smiled a bit as she turned to look back out the window where there was a light drizzle today. She smiled at the sight of their entwined fingers where she could see their rings glinting in the morning. If this was a dream it was a lovely dream she didn't want to wake from, she didn't want to face her reality just yet. Because if she wasn't married to Sasuke after a sensational dream like the one she had had last night then she would never be able to look him in the eye again.

If that had been a dream then she was asking Kakashi for a mission that would keep her out of the village for a while so she wouldn't have to face Sasuke. True that was a coward's move but she was a coward at heart and felt that she couldn't face him ever again after that dream. She smiled a bit, she didn't feel like moving or waking just yet as she closed her eyes again.

"Sakura," he grumbled as he wrapped her up in a tight embrace that made her groan. This felt good, and real, and…

Her eyes snapped open then. Real, she rolled over and stared at the man who's arm was on her waist as she sat up. Sakura glanced around the room, this wasn't her place, and she could see those damn shoes Ino had bought her. Sakura grabbed a discarded shirt, pulled it on then wiggled out from under Sasuke's grasp before she silently tiptoed down the stairs. There was a dress, she lifted up in her fingers, the silk feel made her think that perhaps last night wasn't a dream but rather a reality. She looked at the slim ring on her finger and then wandered into the kitchen. When Sasuke woke she'd pester him with questions about yesterday.

If this was a dream she didn't want to wake.

Looking through the fridge she pulled out what she needed to make an omelette and snagged some tomatoes for Sasuke. No doubt he'd want the tomatoes, no matter what the Uchiha was predictable where his tomatoes were concerned. At least that was constant, she thought bitterly as she beat the eggs. She stiffened when a set of arms slid around her middle and a chin rested on her shoulder. Sakura didn't bother to look over her shoulder at her captor as she continued to beat the eggs.

"Sakura," his indifferent voice had her glancing at him.

"Is this real Sasuke or are you just toying with me?" Sakura asked seriously.

"This is real, you're mine, I'm here," Sasuke replied as his lips brushed her pulse then. Sasuke grabbed a tomato and took a bite of it.

"No spoiling breakfast," Sakura snapped at as she pulled away from him and took her cooking to the stove. Sasuke didn't follow her as she started her cooking suddenly hands slide around to the buttons on her shirt.

"Sasuke!?" Sakura shrieked. He grinned against her skin as he pressed her lips against her pulse when his hands slid up to cup her breasts then. She just turned off the stove before smoke could start forming because it appeared her husband wanted something other than omelets and after the night they had had she wasn't surprised that he was aroused again. The man seemed to have an unbelievable sexual appetite.

"Sakura," he purred against her skin. Her head fell back as she moaned while his fingers continued to taunt her breasts as he held her against his chest. She turned her head to kiss his pulse, he growled a bit as she kissed him. Her body was pulsing and her knees went weak as she leaned against him, his hands never stopped what teasing her already sensitive breasts. How could he still want her? She wanted him again but she didn't know what to think of this new side of her old teammate. This was Sasuke, he was not supposed to be like this because it was Sasuke.

"How are you still like this?" Sakura moaned. She felt his smirk, she didn't even need to look at him to know he was smirking as his hands wandered down her stomach to her mound of darker pink curls. She just about collapsed when he teased that bundle of nerves between her legs.

"Damn it!" she hissed as she slumped against him. Her hands grabbed his arms so she didn't fall to the kitchen floor. He pressed his lips to her temple then and she groaned as his fingers teased her. The devious bastard was driving her insane, as he toyed with her. She dug her nails into his forearms while he toyed with her, how was it that after all these years he could still drive her insane.

"Breakfast can wait," he murmured in her ear, she felt his erection forming then. The man stopped toying with her then he spun her around, gripped her hips then as he lifted her up onto the counter. He kissed her as she brought his arms around his neck then, she moaned a bit when he pulled her hips forward and his hips rammed into hers. She screamed when he filled her, he attacked the mark he had inflicted on her as he started moving in a rough fast rhythm. Sakura's head fell back as one of her hands gripped the counter then, she felt the edge break under her fingers as she arched against him.

How was this man so devious still as he brought a hand between them. Cheater, she groaned in reaction as her head fell against his shoulder. The pleasure was over taking her again as he quickened his rhythm. She desperately clung to him as she again lost herself into the sensations he ignited in her. His mouth was on hers again, she just sighed as she finally relaxed and again warmth filled her from his release.

"Morning," he murmured softly as he brushed her hair aside.

"Morning," Sakura breathed as she sat on the counter feeling sedated, relaxed, and wonderfully loose as she tried to catch her breath again. That definitely was not a dream, of that she was certain as she smiled at his Sharingan eyes. She wondered if he knew his Sharingan was activated at this moment as he rested his brow against hers', probably not, she thought. Mostly because he wouldn't activate it almost all the time when he made love to her or when he jumped her.

Sasuke broke the silence that lazy morning as he watched his wife who was reading a medical jutsu scroll then. She was absorbed in whatever she was reading, he wondered how he was going to tell her he was leaving at the end of this week on a mission for an unknown period of time. Sasuke was worried about how she'd handle this, it was possible she'd beat him to a bloody pulp. Her temper was unpredictable this way, he didn't know how she'd feel about his upcoming departure.

But it was this impeding departure that had made him desperate to marry her. He couldn't leave here if he didn't have her to come back to because there was a very real possibility that he would not return. It wasn't that he wasn't loyal to the village or that he wasn't loyal to Naruto and Kakashi but he had been a wanderer for a good long period of his life and he hadn't had any roots since Itachi had murdered their family. He hadn't had friends after Team 7 and even now his friendships were on unstable ground mostly because he hadn't had friends for so long. It was odd to have companionship after years of relying on no one, and he did not count his time with Orochimaru or the Akatsuki or Team Taka as time with company or with friends. They were tools to get to his goals.

Now he was back in the village and he was reestablishing a few relationships. Naruto was still his best friend. Kakashi trusted him, though he knew his old sensei was watching over him. And he had a few relationships with the Rookie 9.

But it was his relationship with Sakura he had been pursuing, actively so she would trust him again. Though she didn't completely trust him she did talk to him, she would spar with him, and she had been his primary doctor after the war. Granted her being his doctor was mostly because he scared the shit out of the other doctors in the hospital and no one wanted to get near him. It was as if he were a dangerous animal they didn't know how to trust him; and he didn't know how to trust them. He did know how to trust Sakura though, he could always trust Sakura. But she didn't trust him, well that wasn't true, she didn't completely trust him.

There was still a part of her which was wary of him, he could see it because she would occasionally shy away from him or she would tense when he was near. But she hid those little indicators of her fear of him well, it was something that hurt him. Still he knew he had deserved her slight hesitation after all he had done to her, all the pain he had inflicted upon her. Honestly he was amazed that she would even stand near him after all that had happened. She of all the people he had betrayed in his life was the only one aside from Naruto who he had actively strived to break.

"Sakura," he started. Her bright, happy eyes looked up to him, the happy emerald eyes which were looking right through him right then.

"Yeah?" she asked happily. His heart hammered away mercilessly at the honest joy he saw in those emerald eyes. He couldn't break her again, not after finally having made her happy.

"Nothing," he decided. He liked seeing her joy, he didn't want that gone when he left a week from now. She just tilted her head to the side a bit as she studied him then she shrugged and went back to reading her scroll. There were things he'd deal with later because at this moment he would just enjoy her joy. It had been a long time since anyone had expressed joy about being around him and he didn't want to lose that right now when he was happy to have her around and happy to be around him again.

"You do know you can trust me right?" Sakura asked when she rolled up her scroll then lay on top of his chest with a smile on her lips. He brought an arm around her and held her close to him then as he looked into those bright emerald eyes. It didn't matter, Sakura could always read him like an open book and there had been times in his youth when she had read him so accurately he had done the opposite of what he intended just to prove she couldn't read him. She was unusually perceptive and it was unnerving to him because he wasn't used to being honest with people.

But he was married now and it would probably help his cause if he was completely honest with his wife. It would help their relationship and it would probably make him a better husband in the long run because he did not want her to ever fear him again.

"I have a mission I'm going on," Sasuke said softly after the internal debate within himself.

"When?" Sakura asked, there was a sadness in those green eyes that he hadn't wanted to see again. But it was inevitable. He was an ANBU member, and a jonin, and this mission was important, S-ranked too. And it was a favor because he was hunting a missing-nin who was equal in skill as he was and since this missing-nin was said to have the Sharingan it was though this guy was an Uchiha. Which was not possible, one because he was the only Uchiha, and two because he had witnessed the deaths of the others personally.

"End of the week," he replied softly as he slid his fingers through her thick pink hair. She just bit her lip as she tilted her head into his touch. It was a small gesture but it meant everything to him, he didn't think she even knew she had leaned into his touch as he looked at her sad green eyes.

"Did you know before we married?" Sakura asked in a whisper of a voice.

"Yes," he came up to kiss her seal. She just tilted her chin back to look at him, he saw her green eyes flickered with a hint of sadness before she straddled his hips with a devious smile again.

"Then we had better enjoy what time we have," Sakura decided. His hands rested on her thighs when he sat up and kissed her. Great Kami was this woman of his amazing. She just cupped his face as he kissed her.

"You had better come back Uchiha," she whispered.

"I'll come home," he promised softly as he got to his feet with his wife's legs wrapped around his hips as he carried her back into the house. They fell onto his futon, he made a mental note to buy a real bed now that he had a wife.

"I love you, Sasuke," Sakura whispered when he pulled away from her mouth. He couldn't say he loved her back because he didn't know if he did. But he did care deeply about this small woman.

10 Weeks After Sasuke's Departure…

Her eyes flew open, she rolled off her husband's futon and ran to the bathroom. She slammed the door behind her out of habit as she wretch what minimal contents had been in her stomach out again. Gasping for breath she held herself over the toilet as she shoved her long bangs out of her face and shut her eyes. It was just worry, it was stress from worrying over her Uchiha as she sat there.

At first she had thought it was pregnancy but after numerous tests, a few blood tests, even Tsunade had tested her chakra that hope had been diminished; she wasn't pregnant like she had hoped. She hadn't gained weight and there was nothing odd going on in her life. But there was her missing husband who she hadn't heard from for a while who she was worrying over.

"Morning Forehead!" Ino shouted as she walked into the bathroom.

"Hey Pig," Sakura breathed as she kept her fingers tangled in her hair keeping it out of her face.

"So this morning, I went to Tsunade and she confirmed it! I'm pregnant!" the blonde looked ecstatic then as she sat on the rim of the tub. "Fourteen weeks, just like I thought. So are you still worrying about Uchiha?"

"What do you think?" Sakura sighed as she rolled to sit against the wall on the tile floor.

"You need to get over him, forehead, he's not coming back. Even Naruto doesn't think he's coming back." Sakura glared at her friend but didn't argue with Ino because she knew Naruto was only worried about Sasuke about as much as she was. But Naruto also had a six month pregnant Hinata to worry about because Hinata's pregnancy hadn't been easy. Thinking of Hinata Sakura remembered she had a morning appointment with the future Hokage's wife. Sakura was the only doctor Naruto trusted with Hinata so she was the appointed pysician of his wife

"He said he'd be back, he'll be back, I'm just worried. There's been no word from him in eight weeks. She was just worried.

"Oh, Temari is asking for you since she's in labor," Ino said absently.

"WHAT!?" Sakura ran into her room stripping out of Sasuke's shirt as she began pulling on her clothes. She stopped at Sasuke's picture briefly then ran out of the house dragging Ino after her since they had to go help their friend.

She ignored the slight dizziness and lightheadedness she was feeling as she raced to the hospital, she also ignored how her stomach had yet to settle.
