"The battle between Ash and Roxanne will now begin!"
...
"So Treecko, Phanphy," Ash started, after finishing their training for the day. "Do you guys think that you'll be ready for the gym battle?"
Phanphy cheered, "Totally, I'm really excited!"
"I think I am," Treecko shrugged, just wanting an exciting match.
Taking in their responses, Ash decided, "Well in that case, let's challenge Roxanne tomorrow: I'm sure that you guys will do great!"
Like the young Pokemon he was, Phanphy went a little bit hyper, "I'll be able to win against another 'mon-"
"But for now, let's get to sleep," Ash calmed him down.
"Way to burst my bubble," Phanphy pouted, causing Treecko to smirk at him.
...
Hey Misty,
May is making really good progress! She's getting a lot more confident with herself and she's beginning to feel comfortable with battling. I'm sure that she'll do great in the contest and she'll be an awesome coordinator in the future.
Max is a bit of a know it all, which is kind of annoying and he can be a bit of a brat sometimes. He's a good kid, though. He cares a lot about Pokemon and he wants to be a trainer when he grows up.
As you will probably already know, Brock isn't much better at controlling himself around the ladies. In fact, he isn't any better really. He does help May out a lot though, which is good.
How are things at the gym at the moment? Is Tracey still helping out?
Phanphy loves battling and he really enjoys training.
Treecko gives everyone a cold shoulder, but he's a good battler and has quite a warm heart.
Taillow is slightly cheeky, but he's sweet as well.
Lapras misses you and Tracey, but she's doing well too.
Brock and I are missing you a lot and we hope that the gym is okay too.
Best wishes,
Ash :)
He posted the letter shortly after writing it and prayed that the others weren't snooping secretly. Enjoying the fresh night air, he chose to take a short walk around Rustboro city before heading back. After all, he didn't want to be tired the next day. As he got himself to bed, dreams of his other pokemon filled his head and he fell into a deep sleep.
...
"Are you nervous, Ash?"
May had never imagined that someone like Ash would get nervous, especially after all of the accomplishments he'd already made. Then again she also knew that everyone got nervous every now and then, so she pushed the thought away.
"Yeah, but I'll be fine soon."
He scarfed his breakfast down along with his battling Pokemon before heading down to the battlefield so that they could warm up. Ash didn't want any of them pulling a muscle during a match and he didn't want them to be taken aback by how sudden the battle may seem.
"Let's stretch and have a jog!"
Also, he knew that a little bit of exercise could get just about anyone feeling pumped up. At least, that worked for him and he knew that pokemon often ended up like their trainers. Not wanting to miss out, Taillow joined in with them and glided around the battlefield. Ash reminded himself to start training him the same way he trained Alis, since it worked so well.
"I think that we're ready now, so let's go!"
...
"Go, geodude."
Making his decision, he shouted, "Treecko, I choose you!"

Author's notes:
Hiyaaa
I just wanted to say that I might quit this fanfiction: I've lost a lot of motivation for it and I haven't been as satisfied with my chapters as much as usually would.
However, I also don't think I want to end it here yet... so I might write the ending for this fanfiction here.
Let me know if you would like to see the end and thank you so much for reading this fanfic, I'm grateful to you all :D
