Hey guys, Liz here. Welcome back! I just wanna start out thanking you guys for coming back to check the story out. And if you are new here, welcome! Anyway, last we left off, Gohan and Krillin went to check out the Namekian village while Bulma and Chiyo stayed behind to set up a base of operations. Then, on Earth, Goku had finally healed and was heading to check out on his new ship when it was revealed that Chinku was missing! What awaits everyone now? Well, let's find out, shall we?
(Also, for like the next few chapters, I'll be having a profile pic up of Chiyo for the cover. Hope you guys enjoy!)
The Son Squad Ch.11
Soon, Capsule Corp came into view and Goku quickly jumped off of the Nimbus and landed in the back where Bulma's mother was watering the flowers. "Oh, Goku, dear!" She cheered upon seeing the young man show up. "You've healed up quite fast!"
"Hi Bulma's mom," Goku greeted with his patent grin. "Say, is Bulma's Dad finished with the ship yet?"
"Hmmmm," Mrs. Briefs thought for a moment, trying to recall if her husband was still tinkering around with the ship or not. Then she remembered. "Last time I saw, he was still fixing it all up for ya."
"Still?!" Goku gasped. He thought the ship would be done by now. Despite this, Goku tried to be optimistic and smiled. "Well that's not good."
"I can take you outback to see him."
"Oh, sure."
Bulma's mother took Goku by the arm and led him to the inner yard where her husband was working. She remarked how he had grown to be quite the handsome young man and that she wanted him to take her out sometime, which he said he would do. She even thanked him for saving the Earth because if it hadn't been for him, she wouldn't have discovered this darling little cake shop that had the most scrumptious cake she had ever come across. (Well, at least someone was thanking him for his hard work).
When the made it to the inner yard, Goku was flabbergasted by the size of the ship; it was as big as his house! Dr. Briefs came out of the ship to give Goku the grand tour of the place while Mrs. Briefs went to grab some tea for them. "This is amazing!" Goku remarked as he walked through the interior of the ship. "You can do so much training in here!"
"Yep," Dr. Briefs said before going over to the center of the room where a control panel could be found. "Now here's the artificial gravity device that you asked me to install. It goes up to 100g like you asked me to do, but I have to say that's a lot of pressure you'll be putting on yourself. You sure you want it to go that high?"
"I'll need it in order to train up on the trip to Namek," Goku explained, thinking about how he was going to need to push himself in order to deal with whoever it was that was causing trouble on Namek. He was pumped to get started! "So, is this thing ready to take off yet?"
"Oh, she'll fly like a dream," Dr. Briefs stated. "Heck, she'll be able to get you there in six days no problem."
"Then what are we waiting for?! What else could you possibly need to do?!" Goku frantically questioned, wondering what was keeping him from getting to Namek to help his friends and children.
"Well I haven't decided where to put the stereo," Dr. Briefs replied, causing Goku to fall over in shock. "You okay, there, Goku?"
"A STEREO?! THAT'S WHAT KEEPING ME HERE?!" Goku shouted, quickly getting up from off the ground and nearly scarring the life out of Dr. Briefs' cat that was perched on his shoulder. How could that be the only thing keeping him from getting to Namek?!
"My boy, I'll have you know that a stereo is very important, especially for a long trip." Dr. Briefs did a small puff from his cigarette and turned to the entrance of the ship and slightly gapped at what he saw. "And it seems I'll be needing to get you a booster seat as well."
"Huh? A booster seat? Why would I need that?" He turned to see what Dr. Briefs had been looking at that would make him say that and gasped when he saw toddle Chinku standing in the doorway of the ship with a big ol' grin on his face. "CHINKU?!"
"Dada!" Chinku said before running over to her Dad and wrapping her arms around his leg.
Goku was shocked to his nearly 2-year old daughter here of all places. He was sure that he would've noticed if she had followed him, right? He must've been so focused on getting to Capsule Corp that he didn't notice. She must've followed him hear by flying after him. His shocked demeanor gave way to a smile as he picked up the little girl and put her on his hip. "You must've followed me from the hospital, huh?" He asked the toddler.
Chinku giggled in reply and Goku chuckled along with her.
"Thanks for the offer of the stereo and booster seat, Dr. Briefs, but I'm in a bit of a hurry and won't be needing them," Goku stated as he shifted the little girl in his arms.
"You sure?" Dr. Briefs blinked in shock. "If you're going to be taking a little toddler with you, you'll need a booster seat and a bed for her at the least."
"I won't be taking Chinku with me, though," Goku explained, not noticing the look of surprise come to Chinku's face. He couldn't imagine bringing her into space. Chi-Chi would kill him if he did that, and he was already trying to get back in her good graces after the whole being dead thing. Not to mention Chinku was still a bit young for the intense training he would be putting himself under on his way to the far-off planet. He wanted to train her, but it was best to learn the basics before skipping to the intense stuff.
Once Goku's mind was made up on the matter, Dr. Briefs caved in and decided not to add the stereo or booster seat.
Goku stepped off with Dr. Briefs to discuss the final bits about the ship with him and also so he could give Chinku over to Bulma's mom for Chi-Chi to come and get. As soon as he handed Chinku over to Bulma's mother, Chinku started bawling like crazy, slightly breaking Goku's heart. "Chinku? What's the matter?" He asked the little girl with shoulder-length black hair.
"Space!" She declared, reaching her arms out towards him and momentarily stopping her crying. "Wanna go to space!"
"But, sweetie, you can't go to space with Daddy," Goku tried to explain the 19-month old. "Daddy has to do a lot of hard training so he can help out your big brother and sister, so you can't come with me."
That explanation wasn't going to fly with Chinku and she started crying again. Mrs. Briefs tried to rock her to calm the little toddler down, but she was still crying and reaching out for Goku to take her.
Sighing, Goku took Chinku from Mrs. Briefs and placed her on the ground. He crouched down so that he was at eye-level with Chinku and rubbed the top of her head, causing the little girl to stop sobbing for a moment and look up at her Father, letting out a sniffle every now and again. He smiled at Chinku and she turned her head to look at him in confusion. "Listen, Chinku, I need you to stay put here and look after your mom while I go help out your brother and sister. Once that's taken care of, I'll come back here, okay?"
Understanding what her Father was asking of her- at least somewhat- Chinku nodded and wiped the tears from her eyes with her little fists.
Goku chuckled and gave her a kiss on the head and a quick hug before handing her back to Mrs. Briefs. "Don't worry; I'll be back before you know it, Chinku." He pinched her nose a bit and then let go, something he had done with Gohan and Chiyo when they were her age, and that caused Chinku's frown to turn into a smile followed by a little giggle.
With that said, he made his way back to the ship and prepared for blast off. Just as Oolong and Puar came to see Goku off, the ship blasted off into the sky as quickly as it could. "Bye-bye, Dada!" Chinku called out over the ship's roaring engine and waved to her Dad's ship as it went higher into the air before disappearing from sight.
Back on Namek, some time had passed since Gohan and Krillin had left and they had yet to come back. Bulma had set up a nice capsule house inside the cave. Inside said house were furnished bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen stocked full of food, and a living/dining room to sit down and eat in. While Bulma took a bath and radioed home, Chiyo went outside the Capsule House and practiced some martial arts to keep herself sharp for what was to come. She kicked and punched at invisible foes while suppressing her power just in case anyone tried to pick up on her.
When she was in the middle of this shadow boxing session, she sensed a spike in power in the direction that Gohan and Krillin had gone off to. She recognized it right away as her brother and soon after that, Krillin's power quickly shot up for a moment before he and Gohan tried suppressing it a little and started racing back towards the hideout.
Gohan, what's going on?! Chiyo telepathically shouted to her brother, trying to focus on her brother in hopes that he would reply.
However, he didn't reply. There wasn't a single peep from him.
Suddenly, it dawned on Chiyo; her and Gohan hadn't really practiced the technique over long distances, so did that mean she couldn't get a hold of Gohan in order to figure out the situation? Oh boy….
Luckily for her, the large power that had been chasing Gohan and Krillin had stopped and turned to go back with the other larger powers. She sighed in relief, believing that her brother and friend had escaped unharmed since she didn't sense their power completely die out. "Thank goodness," She sighed in relief. Still, that really bugged her about the psychic link not working over long distances. She really had hoped that they could work on that so this wouldn't happen again.
As she was finding relief in the fact that her brother and friend were safe, a new large power level was heading towards Gohan and Krillin, causing Chiyo to break out in a sweat. She wasn't sure who it was at first, thinking for a moment that it was the one that had been tailing them before. However, when Chiyo really got a feel for who the person was, she soon began shaking when she recognized who it was; it was Vegeta, she was sure of it!
"Oh no! Vegeta's gonna find Gohan and Krillin!" Chiyo shouted as she ran out of the cave. She was about to take off and go help Gohan out when Vegeta suddenly changed directions and flew off a different way. Why would he suddenly change course? Were Gohan and Krillin not his original targets? Either way, all this freaking out was making Chiyo exhausted. Adrenaline had come in and out for her and she hadn't even fought anyone other than that one goon from before. "I'm gonna get grey hairs from all this worrying and I'm only five." Chiyo said as she sighed and flopped down on the ground.
A little while later, Gohan and Krillin returned with a small Namekian with them. Chiyo ran out to greet them both and instantly ran over to Gohan and hugged him. "Thank goodness you guys are okay!" Chiyo stated. "I sensed you guys' energies flare up, and then I sensed Vegeta's energy tailing after you all!"
"Sorry, Chiyo, didn't mean to have you all riled up," Krillin said, the look of pure exhaustion on his face. Adrenaline had worn off from all the excitement and he was ready to flop down for a nap.
Sis, why didn't you use the link to get a hold of us? Gohan asked his sister through the telepathic link.
I tried, but I think you were too far away for me to get through to you, Chiyo replied.
Woah, I didn't think about distance, Gohan admitted. He just didn't sned his sister a message because he honestly was too busy trying to get away from Dodoria and Vegeta. Guess we didn't think this all the way through, huh?
No, but we'll figure it, I'm sure. That's when Chiyo noticed the Namekian boy who was standing next to Krillin. She honestly hadn't noticed him until now. Why is there a Namekian with you? What happened out there.
It's a bit of a long story, Gohan admitted. But I promise I'll explain everything once we get something to eat. Then we can talk.
"Hey, Chiyo," Krillin said, catching the young girl's attention. "Where's Bulma?"
"She's deeper in the cave," Chiyo replied, leading the three inside. "We set up a capsule house while you were gone. I think she should be done with her bath soon."
As soon as they got farther back in the cave, the four came upon said capsule house and Bulma came barging out after having finished her bath and radio communication with her Father. "And where have you two been?!" She shouted upon seeing Krillin and Gohan, scarring the Namekian child and causing him to hide from her view. "You left two perfectly cute young ladies here for nearly two hours!"
Chiyo blushed a bit when Bulma remarked that she was cute. She sorta liked the idea of considering herself to be cute.
"Oh, and you'll never guess what: I got a hold of my Dad and he said Goku's on his way here to Namek!"
Hearing that news sent excitement through the three earth warriors. They couldn't believe what they were hearing, finally, some good news! They had gotten nothing but bad news since they got here, so having some good news for once was a nice change of pace. Bulma explained how Goku was training as he was making it to Namek and how he would be there in less than a week thanks to the modifications that her Dad had made to the ship. That thought alone was enough to send Gohan, Chiyo, and Krillin into crying tears of joy! Goku was coming!
A little while later inside, everyone had gone in to eat food…well, everyone but the little Namekian boy. He didn't touch a bit of food on his plate. Gohan had explained to Chiyo what had happened, how he and Krillin went to the Namekian village and found the bad guys raiding them looking for the dragon balls. They come to Namek to wish for immortality for Frieza, the guy with the power level that made Vegeta look like a kitten. Frieza and his goons killed the other Namekians and were about to kill the young boy when Gohan stepped in to save him. Krillin helped as well and the three flew off as fast as they could and escaped.
They also ran into Vegeta along the way, confirming to Chiyo that she had indeed felt the Saiyan Prince's energy, but that he hadn't found them yet, which was the good news. The bad news though was that Vegeta didn't seem to need to use a scouter anymore and could feel energy like them. One problem gets switched out for another, huh?
Suddenly, the twins and Krillin could feel energies dropping like flies in the distance. They all got up and ran outside to investigate and realized that the energies were that of Namekians. And the one behind it all was none other than Vegeta who had figured out that they must've had a dragon ball.
The little Namekian boy, who they learned was named Dende, demanded to know why the four had come to Namek and what they needed the dragon balls for, wanting to know if they intended to use them for nefarious purposes like the people who had killed all his friends from his village.
Krillin explained the situation to Dende about wanting to wish their friends back to life and how if Kami, the Earth's guardian, came back to life as well, then their dragon balls could come back as well. That confirmed it to Dende that these weren't bad people at all; all they wanted to do was bring back their loved ones who had died such tragic deaths and bring back their dragon balls so they wouldn't have to keep coming back and forth between Earth and Namek to do so.
With confidence that these warriors from Earth were what Namek needed right now, Dende shouted, "You all have to come with me right away! I have to take you to the grand elder! He'll know what to do!"
"The grand elder?" Krillin questioned.
"Who's that?" The twins asked at the same time.
"He was the only surviving Namekian when the disaster hit Planet Namek all those years ago," Dende explained. "He gave birth to all the Namekians here afterwards."
Not really understanding how a male gave birth to all the Namekians on Namek and not really having time to question it further, Krillin asked if the Grand Elder had a dragon ball and Dende did confirm that he did indeed have one. Hearing that, they knew that they had to warn him in case Vegeta decided to come.
With that, Krillin flew off with Dende to the Grand Elder's place while Gohan and Chiyo stayed behind with Bulma to hold the fort down.
That's all for now, guys! Hope you're enjoying the story. What do you think of Goku's little moment with Chinku? Let me know what you guys think in the reviews down below. Before I go, the poll for the next Son Squad one-shot is still open until the end of next Saturday, so be sure to check it out when you get the chance. Have a good day and stay safe!
