A/N: by now ya'll should realize how much I enjoyed Inu X Boku SS. Not necessarily a crossover, but I can't deny that I didn't think of Inuyasha when I watched this anime. Can you imagine Kagome and Inuyasha's great great great grand-something being a throwback? If you haven't seen the anime I'm talking about, I highly recommend it. Very short and very sad/sweet. P.s. wash your fucking hands.
"S-sesshou!" Kagome startled at his inquiry.
Crap. Crap crap crap.
Takeshi swore at his luck. If the rumors were true, then he was dead meat. Dog demons were particularly possessive and territorial, and here he was, with the King of all demonkind's lover sitting on his torso. He knew better than to push boundaries, and yet...
Kagome scrambled off his person and rose to chase after the retreating lord. He was turning his back on her? Takeshi remained on the floor dumbfounded.
"Kagome, wait," he pounced, grabbing her shoulders to keep her, "Give him a moment. We need to talk."
"Huh?" Her eyes were still wet with tears and her face flushed from crying. "Okay." She conceded, following her mentor outside. Kagome's eyes searched the horizon for Sesshou, and he could see her frown deepen when she didn't find his stoic form waiting for her.
They sat at the edge of the patio, on the steps next to each other. Kagome took a deep breath, trying to regain composure.
"You have fangs." She stated, still looking forward and not at her mentor. He wondered if she was embarrassed from crying.
"I'm a demon." He admitted. It seemed no one explained what Bushida lineage meant.
"How? You're Rin and Kohaku's descendant." Kagome turned to face him then, searching for his demonic qualities. They were well hidden. Claws filed down, pointed ears hidden under long hair, and what she had assumed were grey eyes, were now obviously silver.
"You might not have heard of it," Takeshi leaned back on his palms, "But I'm a throwback."
"What does that mean?" Kagome kept looking for markings. She had to remind herself not every demon had them.
"It means that Rin's granddaughter mated with a demon. They died young, what with people hating inter species relations, but they had children; half demons, and those half demons had quarter demons, and the demon blood thinned out over generations. They never mated with demons again as we all went into hiding." Takeshi turned his silver eyes from the setting sun to face Kagome. She looked pained.
"Then how are you a demon?" Kagome asked. He behaved so much like Inuyasha it hurt. In the setting sunlight, he could have been Inuyasha's human twin.
"We don't know, but it's not just our family. More and more of us are popping up. Sometimes we can control it, and sometimes we can't." Takeshi's eyes caught the demon lord in the tree line behind Kagome. Good, he was listening.
"But you can." It wasn't a question. He nodded in agreement. "Why can't I sense what you are?"
"Because I'm human." He knew it was hard to understand. At first, when he was young, he couldn't control it. If he felt threatened, he transformed. Now he could change at will. "But somehow the genes stayed strong and I am the demon, identical to the one who mated Rin's granddaughter."
"I don't understand." Kagome leaned on her knees, her arms wrapped around herself.
"We don't either." He leaned forward too, mirroring her position. "But I can be a demon, or I can be human, which is why I think Inuyasha wanted me to train you."
"You will not be training Kagome." Sesshou appeared behind Kagome in the blink of an eye. The cold expression of his face gave Takeshi chills, but Kagome looked relieved. She wasn't afraid of the baddest demon alive, and somehow that made him all the more curious about her battle skills.
"I'm perfect for it." Takeshi argued, rising to his feet. "I'm human for hand to hand and she can practice her reiki when I'm demon. I'm strong enough. She won't even kill me. I'll just turn human again."
"Just like Inuyasha." Kagome spoke so quietly, thinking back to Mount Hakurei. Both demons turned their attention to the priestess. She stood, facing her protector. "I want to continue training. Takeshi can do it. I trust him." Her earlier defeat was almost nonexistent to his memory when he could see the determination in her eyes, standing up to Sesshou.
"Why?" Sesshou asked, wanting to be convinced.
"Because he's just like Inuyasha." Sesshou blinked at her admission and Takeshi was convinced he imagined the irritation that followed. "And he's just like you."
"I thought you said you couldn't sense what I am." He smirked, a toothy crooked grin pulling at his lips.
"I didn't need to." Kagome threw a smile over her shoulder at him. She knew a dog demon when she saw one.
