Chapter 34 Interview

Kara

"So I gather your anger didn't last long last night," Alex laughed. I had not long woken up and I was getting my breakfast before heading off to the Daily Planet.

"What?" I asked still not fully awake.

"Clothes all over the floor," Alex pointed out as I decided to make toast but not the normal way as I used my heat vision.

"Like you and Maggie are any better," I shot back.

"I just think we need to soundproof the apartment," Alex added. "I swear if I hear the words 'oh Rao' being shouted all night again, it's a good job you're an alien you don't need sleep before going to work."

"I didn't—we weren't—shut up!" I stammered in response. "I'm off to work."

"This situation certainly hasn't helped you trying to write your article for the newspaper has it," Alex said as I picked up my stuff.

"That's an understatement," I sighed. I flew out the window landing in an empty alley near the Daily Planet. I entered the office I shared with Lois but Clark was sat behind her desk.

"No Lois today?" I asked as I put my stuff down on the desk.

"She is running late," Clark asked. "Have you managed to write your article?"

"…It's complicated," I told him.

"Why?" Clark asked confused.

"I found out who is behind the helmet and you're not going to be happy," I sighed as put my head on the desk. He raised his eyebrow so I continued "Mon El."

"Is he stupid?!" Clark shouted making the people outside the office turn around. He shut the door so no one could hear us.

"I went through this last night with him," I added. I didn't know what to say to Clark of all people who was out saving people day after day.

"And?" Clark asked I could tell he was growing frustrated with the lack of answers I was giving.

"And what? I don't know why he did it," I sighed fed up. "He wants to be like you I suppose."

"He's a kid," Clark deadpanned.

"So were you when you were the Blur," I replied.

"That was different," Clark tried to claim while pacing the office.

"How? You were in high school and you were not able to control some of your powers," I laughed.

"…Okay fair point," he conceded. "So what happening now?"

"He's coming down to be interviewed at noon," I told him. "I'm going to interview him."

"Why?" Clark asked.

"Same reason Lois interviews Superman from time to time," I reasoned. "So that people know that he's a hero and what kind of person he is."

Clark never responded, he just huffed and left the office. I took the opportunity to start writing the article. I sat for close on two hour with moving just trying to find a way to write this article without letting my personal life get in the way. When all of a sudden the office door opened and Clark came back straightening his tie.

"I see he didn't show up this time," Clark bellowed jumping me out of my own little world.

"Who?" I asked confused.

"Your boyfriend," Clark snapped. "Just had to go save some people and he never showed up."

"You were annoyed because he kept showing up now your annoyed because he didn't show up?" I raised my voice.

"Not much of a hero is he?" Clark said.

"You're not annoyed because he didn't show, it's because of who it is," I shouted just as the door opened to the office and Lois stood at the door.

"Why is it every time I leave you two alone I find you arguing?" Lois asked. "Plus Kara you have a visitor."

"Speak of the devil," Clark said as Lois stepped out the way to show Mon El behind her. "Come in and hear about heroics."

"What's going on?" Lois asked she closed the door after letting Mon El in who was now stood beside me looking rather scared.

"Will you keep your voice down?" I asked quietly getting more and more frustrated with Clark.

"I'm the new hero," Mon El mumbled.

"Hero? Are you having a laugh?" Clark laughed.

"Will you shut up Clark?" Lois snapped before I could, she didn't seem surprised at all. "I have watched you being the Blur for years."

"Can I get on with my interview?" I questioned frustrated I signaled for Mon El to sit on the chair in front of the desk I was sat at.

"We will leave you to it," Lois said making her way to the door but Clark didn't move.

"No I want to hear what he says," Clark said.

"You will be reading it when she writes it Clark," Lois spat but Clark didn't move.

"Let him stay," Mon El spoke up before turning back to me. While Lois kicked Clark of her desk chair so he took the seat in the corner he was making me more nervous then I should have been.

"Can I take your name?" I said as I started the interview under the watchful eyes.

"My name is Mon-El, I am the former Prince of the planet Daxam, sister world of Krypton," Mon-El told the information I already knew but I had to act professional.

"Krypton? Where Superman is from?" I questioned.

"Yes," Mon-El answered you could tell he was nervous by his voice. "Both of our planets orbited the same star."

"How did you end up on Earth?" I asked.

"When Krypton exploded the debris rained down on the rest of the planets in the system including Daxam," Mon-El told me. "I escaped and crashed on Earth."

"…I'm sorry," I give him a sympathetic look even thought I knew all this.

"There's no need to apologize," Mon-El smiled. "I can barely remember Daxam and to me Earth is my home now."

"So we've had reports of your heroics recently," I reported. "Care to comment?"

"I'm just trying to help people, save them, be there for them," Mon-El explained Clark still watching stone faced in the background.

"So you want to be some kind of Superboy?" I asked. "Thinking of trying to join the Justice League?"

"Maybe someday but for now I'm just trying to help the little guy," Mon-El said earning a laugh from Lois.

"The world always needs more heroes," I said.

"I'm going to try," Mon-El replied.

"…One last question I'm sure our audience would like to know," I laughed knowing my next question. "Do you have a girlfriend?"

"A girlfriend?" Mon-El "Yes I do."

"She's a lucky women," I commented before putting my pen down. "You will be glad to know this interview is done."

"Thank you," Mon El smiled.

"I need to finish writing this then I will follow you home," I smiled as Mon El got up to leave.

"Finish writing it at home Kara then email me it and remember we need a picture to go with the article," Lois said give Clark a death stare.

If I didn't know Clark was Superman and was incredibly strong I would think Lois was going to kill him. I got up and packed because I had a feeling there was more going on between them than I knew. We left quickly, walking back to the apartment I spent the next hour finish the article. By the time I looked Mon El was stood in his suit.

"How do I look?" he asked me making a pose with a wide almost sparkly smile.

"Like a dork," I answered honestly.

"That's mean," Mon El sighed with a shrug. "Now what?"

"Picture time," I replied as I reached for the camera. "I really need to get a real photographer but for now this'll do."

He jumped up to the roof and then turned around, standing with his left side to me. The helmet in his hands quickly latched onto the seals on his armoured neck and locked in place. I had to admit that Winn had certainly outdone himself making the suit. I wonder what he would make if it was me that wanted a superhero suit? A series of clicks later and I had quite a few photos of Mon El for my article.

"Is that enough?" he asked.

"Yeah that'll do," I nodded.
