Chapter 43

.

Lillian: Angel, we implore you to come forward. The cause of justice implores you to come and identify your murderer. Confront the person who took your life.

.

The group waited until Lillian seemed to have succeeded.

.

Lillian: She is here, Angel is with us.

Gary: Who murdered her?

Lillian: She says that she took her own life out of shame.

Duncan: Shame for what?

Lillian: She hurt her little sister, violated Abby, raped her.

William: No, Angel never would have done that to a child.

Lillian: She fought those urges for years, until she couldn't resist anymore. Angel raped Abby, then made Abby promise never to turn out like her.

.

This last comment shook Gary. Did sheriff Duncan perhaps tell Lillian about this comment that Abby had said to the two of them? And if Angel really raped Abby, the police didn't know about that, how could this psychic?

.

Lillian: Angel wanted to die, to spare everyone the pain she was causing. She felt she belonged in Hell, wanted everyone to know she was a terrible sinner. Someone tried to stop her, they fought, but Angel jammed the knife into her own throat. That's when she carved the pentagram into her chest.

Gary: Who carved the pentagram?

Lillian: Angel refuses to say, she wants to protect her. But she wants you to know that nobody murdered her, her death was a suicide.

.

Gary wondered, maybe this "psychic" was just confirming what much of this town already suspected, that Angel committed suicide. But why throw in that part about Angel being a child-molestor, something that probably could be dis-proven and which nobody here suspected? The only one who reacted badly was Angel's father, at the accusation of his daughter being a pedophile. If Lillian was right, then it was a woman who carved the pentagram into her chest. Neither Jane nor Mary Elizabeth seemed to get nervous at this accusation. Perhaps this "woman" wasn't at the seance after all. Maybe it was the person who had the most motive to want to desecrate her corpse, but who Angel would want to protect even in death. Maybe it was Abby.
