Words Aren't Enough

Chapter 44

Days Later

Brooke and Lucas looked to each other then forward. Staring back at Jamie's therapist.

"Ms. Maddie we appreciate all you've done for Jamie during these past few years. You've helped him to the best of you're ability and we will always be grateful to you for that. But we think it's time for a change. Jamie behavior and mood has gotten worse lately. Which leads us to believe that it would be in his best interest to change therapist." Brooke said.

Maddie looked over Jamie's file then looked back at the couple.

"I assume Jamie hasn't told you about what's been going on." The woman said.

Brooke and Lucas looked to each other unsure of what she meant.

"What exactly are you saying.? What's going on with Jamie that we don't know about.?" Lucas questioned.

"His grandfather has been writing him letters for a few weeks now. He mentioned it to me in our last session. I asked him why he didn't mention it to either of you. And he told me he didn't want to pile on anymore trouble since there is enough going on within the family. I think Jamie's read every letter his grandfather has sent and managed to convince himself that him and Lydia living with you is temporary."

"I would say address the fact that you know about the letters and reassure Jamie that nothing in his life is going to change again. Regardless of what his grandfather has tried to put into his head." Maddie said.

"Thank you for telling us. We will speak with him and clear this up." Brooke said.

The Rivercourt

"So you come here just to take pictures of nature and random people or are you just needing time out of you're house.?" Quentin asked. Taking a seat beside Astrid on the few bleachers available.

Astrid smiled up at him. "A little bit of both to be honest. Photography is a hobby of mine i picked up. Suggested by my therapist. I went though some intense stuff these past few years. Life is finally begining to slow down and feel settled. And maybe i hoped you and i would run into each other." She said.

"I like someone who owns the past and finds a way to deal with their issues in a healthy way. For me that's basketball. I can't remember a time in my life when i didn't have that ball in my hands. It takes me out of my head and keeps me in control of what i can. It's only ever been. Me, my mom, and little brother. I've been the man of the house since i was kid. I don't know how to be any other way. When i saw you looking around the cafeteria for a place to sit. It got to me. We aren't all like him." Quentin said.

The expression on Astrid's face softened. It was in that instant. She knew that he knew of her past.

"You know everything about what i've been through right.?" Astrid questioned.

"Yes the more we spent time together these past few days. The clearer you're name in my memory became. I'm happy to see you got through that okay considering.I'm not River. I wouldn't hurt you that way." Quentin said.

"You seem like a great guy. Who deserves a normal girl to care about. I've got alot emotional baggage. I wouldn't get too invested into me if i was you. People will talk." Astrid said.

Quentin reached over taking her hand in his.

"Let them talk what i think and how i feel is all that matters." He said.
