Wolf's Mate
Rose's POV
We spent a few more hours repairing and minor checks, "Alright well, I'm going to have to make blueprints so the suit or shell for Mangle here before I fully repair her. I want to have it ready first so that way when she is fixed, I can put her in her new suit right away." Damin said, wiping his paws with a rag. "Any idea how long that will take?" I asked.
"Well the blueprints I can do in a day or two, parts will take a while, same with construction so close to a week, fixing Mangle herself may just about the same give or take because I have to find parts for her skeleton as well. So, I think about, she'll be with the group 3 days after they are scheduled to be placed in the pizzeria." I tried to keep from smiling.
'Awesome, now I just need to buy a ton of batteries for BB and I remove 2 of the 3 major problems. All I will need to do from there is focus on Mari by just winding his music box. Easy night.' I thought but I knew that while it will be easy, I will still have to be careful. 'Though if the ghosts are taking control will BB still be distracted by them? I mean I can just let him steal the ones from the light and I still just have to focus on Mari' We left the unit and locked it up, I felt bad for the toys because they are stuck in here till it's time to come to the pizzeria. I know they have roamed around the building but still they have to be careful not to be caught.
I kept my lips shut as we left but I know the ghosts were watching us, knowing that they will really have to step up their game to make sure I don't win. We parted ways and went to our cars, once in mine I turned to Chica, "So how was the visit? Glad to see them?" "Yes, it was. I missed see them. It will be great to have them at the pizzeria again." I smile and start the drive home.
"Any place you want to stop at before we get home?" I asked her, not taking my eyes off the road. "Hmmm… not really. There is nothing going on that would interest me." I nod in agreement. "Yeah as a sort of small town, not much happens. You have to be a genius or super talented to see more of the world. That or rich to travel," I said. "Then you maybe leaving soon since you are talented with football from what I saw," she said and I swear I thought I heard a twinge of sadness in her voice. I wanted to say that she can come with me but I knew that it could end up bad for both of us.
One would be a place to live for two, rent with only my job if she can't due to lack of any legal papers of any kind, food, bills, etc., plus my school life. All that and the fact that maybe she won't want to leave the pizzeria. My chest felt heavy, my throat tight as I try to think of something to say. We sat in heavy silence on the drive home till I said, "well football and hockey are really all I have. I'm not smart but not a dumb jock so average and I'm not sure what would be a good job or career I can fall back on should I get hurt in either sport."
"Rose Hood Cross do not dare put yourself down. Book smart or street smart, doesn't matter you are smart in your own way. Maybe you are smarter than what you give yourself credit for. I'm not sure if true or not but a lot of math can be applied to both sports. Like the force of your throw to predict how far the ball will go, number of spirals, the force that is needed to carry a 200-pound person across two yards. You know all this and don't know it."
I was surprised by the whole thing but it did make me feel better. With what I do know I can apply to other things like the math example. "Plus, Rose you are still young, you can still learn something. Any hobby you wish to pick up?" she asks me, making me think.
"I always liked woodworking; you know build stuff with your hands. Crafts, reading here and there. Maybe I can learn zoology so I can help vets, teachers and others more about animals that can translate to people like me, or maybe something with science since that seemed cool to me." I said and I heard Chica clapping. "Those are great goals Rose. You can learn a lot of history from each of those as well which gives you more knowledge and more well-rounded." Chica continued to encourage me on the way which made me feel all better and that I had a very potentially great partner by my side.
"Oh! And I remember that you helped cook! You can be a chef too and I know you can be one of the best." I almost wanted to cry of joy that my love was helping me just by listing things I can do, learn and become if football or hockey fall short for me. "Thanks, Chica. I really needed to hear that. It helped me feel better, I'm glad that I have ya in my life," I said as I pulled up in my driveway and I turned to her. She had a big ol' smile on her face.
"I'm glad that I can help you Rose. You put all of us first when helping us. Now it was my turn to help you." She reached over the divider and hugs me. I smiled and returned the hug, wanting nothing more then to pull her over onto my lap and properly hold her. She let's go of the hug and we get out of the car and head to the door.
Once at the door, I stopped her by gently taking her hand, causing her to turn to me confused. I simply leaned down and gave her a kiss similar to the one she gave me earlier in the mall. I kiss towards the corner of her lips, but still on her cheek. I felt myself blush as I notice her cheeks gain a pink taint to them before giving a smile and we head inside the house.
