Hi! So it's been a couple of months since I last updated which isn't great of me, especially considering that the story is coming to an end. Recently, I've had a bit more time on my hand, so I decided to revisit the story.
I've been getting everything people have been saying about the story and I really appreciate everything.
Enjoy ;)
Chapter 36
Daphne's POV
"What are we going to do with her?"
"What do you mean?" Daphne asked, turning to look at Mustardseed.
"Well, she leaked information to Moth. She's a spy, I have to capture her."
Daphne looked at Mustardseed in horror and then turned back to Beth. She was still frantically yanking off helmets from dead soldiers, no doubt looking for her poor Hamstead. Daphne looked at the sad, broken woman and wondered how she could have ever turned into this person. This was not the same woman Daphne had known, yet she supposed that was the woman Beth had turned into, one of the many outcomes of the war.
"She did it out of love. Moth would have killed Hamstead if she didn't do it."
"Still, she gave important information to Moth. Information that likely caused the death of multiple people."
Daphne looked at Mustardseed full on. "She didn't know, she thought she had no other choice."
"She could have come to me, or you, or literally anyone else and we would have helped her. Instead, her mistakes have cause misery and destruction. She has to be taken."
Daphne looked at Beth to see if Mustardseed's harsh words had effected her in anyway, but Beth seemed to be oblivious. She was still going her usual routine of pulling off soldiers helmets. With each new helmet, came a new and more desperate wail.
"And what is to happen to her?"
Mustardseed paused then and Daphne saw him glance at Beth. "I will argue that she was not of right mind and should not deserve death."
"Death! That is not happening, I won't allow it."
"That's good, you have persuasion in the court, you can argue for her too."
"Argue against who? Who would kill her because of this?"
"Well," and for once Mustardseed seemed very uncomfortable with this conversation. He seemed to be dreading his next words, "Technically, Puck has final say, as he is king. I'm sure he would not wish any harm to come to Beth, but he has a duty as king. Many people will want for Beth's death, especially the council. He may have no choice."
"This is ridiculous. I know Puck, he would never do that."
"And I don't? He is my brother after all."
"As I recall you didn't want anything to do with him in the last couple of years." As soon as the words left her mouth, Daphne felt awful. She wished to take them back, but she could only watch as they slapped Mustardseed across the face.
He went cold and pushed back his shoulders. "Soldiers, arrest this woman. She has committed a crime against the nation of Faerie and will stand trial."
Daphne watched as a group of men grabbed Beth, and dragged her off. Beth tried to fight, kicking and squealing, but it was clear that she was weak and no match for the men.
Daphne turned her back against Mustardseed, unable to look at him and walked away.
"Daphne! Daphne!" she heard him yell her name. She marched away, trying to get as much distance from him as possible.
A hand gripped her arm and pulled her around. "Let go of me!" she screamed and yanked her hand away, with a force that sent her back a couple of steps.
"I have to tell you something."
"I don't want to her anything from you! I cannot believe you did that." She tuned to leave again.
"It's about Sabrina."
Daphne paused. "What about her?"
"Puck lied to you. She's not safe in the castle, she's in danger."
Daphne's heart started to beat. How could she have been so naive as to think that Sabrina would just stay behind? she thought. She wanted to kick herself at her foolishness. Daphne always wanted for people to think of her as an adult, yet she gets tricked so easily.
"Where is she?" Daphne asked in a low voice.
"No one knows, but maybe…"
Daphne's heart did a beat. "Yes?"
"You could find her."
Sabrina's POV
Sabrina closed her eyes and waited for fire to wash over her. Or maybe she would be bitten in half.
At least my death is interesting, she thought. This is textbook death, definitely. And with that happy thought, Sabrina collapsed onto her back. There was an enormous amount of pain, and then nothing.
When Sabrina reached conciseness again, she was aware of a few things. For one, she was in a good deal of pain. However, she was almost ninety percent sure that she had all of her limbs and no part of her was aflame, so she counted this to be a good thing.
She pushed up to stand when she became aware of her source of pain. The dragons jaw had landed on her legs. The giant, heavy jaw that had been aimed at her face only moments ago was now in her lap.
Sabrina cursed and yelled, "Babook! Babook!"
His ugly face came out from behind the dragon, revealing a toothy grin. "Hi Blondie!"
"Babook, what happened? I think I blanked out." Babook nodded grimly, but stayed silent. "Oh God, I'm not dead am I? Because I was really hoping I wouldn't be stuck with you in the after life."
"What? No you're not dead."
"So I'm alive?" She looked up hopefully at the creature.
"Yes, you're alive."
"But how? I saw the dragon coming for me."
He hoped off the dragon, coming beside Sabrina's broken body. "Isn't it obvious? I saved you, once again. Really, what would you do without me, Blondie?"
Sabrina grinned, feeling an overwhelming sense of joy for the little guy. "You managed to use the poppies?"
He grinned again. "I did indeed. He fell quite quickly to be honest. For such a massive creature, it was strange to see a few flowers take him out." Babook paused in thought and then got up with strange look on his face. "Well anyway, he should be out for a couple of hours, till the end of the day most likely."
"I guess you'll finally have a chance to get your treasure, and I'll have a chance to get my cure. First, you'll have to help me get out from beneath this dragon. I think my legs are broken, so I'll have no way of moving."
Sabrina looked at Babook and noticed that he hadn't moved yet. A nervous feeling started to bloom in her stomach, but she pushed onwards, choosing to ignore it.
"My legs won't kill me, being an Everafter of course, but if I don't get out from beneath this dragon, they have no way of fixing themselves." Again, no movement from Babook, so Sabrina continued to babble in the strange silence. "It might take time, but once I have the cure, I'll have all the time in the world. At least, it'll seem so."
Babook took a step away from her. "I've waited a long time for this treasure. Everyone in the land knows of it's gold, and yet no one has managed to capture it in a thousand years. When I come back victorious, I'll be famous and rich, everyone will know my name."
Sabrina swallowed, the uneasy feeling getting worse in her stomach. "I'm happy for you. I can't wait to get back to my old life as well."
"This will be amazing for me, and I hope you understand." Babook smiled down at Sabrina and turned and walked away.
"Understand what? Babook, understand what? Babook!" Sabrina cried out and tried to move, only for her legs to scream in pain. They were no doubt broken.
She watched as Babook walked farther and farther away. "Please," she cried, "why are you doing this? I thought we had an understanding. You promised, will you go back on your promise? You will become a liar?" There was no response and Sabrina knew that he had left her, but she screamed into the unknown once again.
"I won't tell a soul, you can have your fame, I just want my family. Please I have come too far, just to die. I don't want to die, please help me. Please!"

So I put some information already on my profile, but I'll say it here as well:
There is only two chapters left of this story which is quite scary, to be honest. I've been writing this since 2017, around 3 years ago. Now it is ending.
I have already gone through and written the bases for the next chapters. I usually write a chapter and then post it, but this time I decided to go ahead and write the last couple of chapters altogether. I wanted to make sure I had a solid ending before I started posting, to ensure that you would be getting an end, and I wouldn't just disappear for a couple of months.
I know that this chapter is quite short, but the next one is much longer. It was just the way I structured it that it came out shorter.
Please make sure to review this chapter and leave your thoughts for me to read! ;) We're coming up to Puck and Sabrina reuniting and I can't wait to share it.
Expect the next chapter in the next couple of days
