Arc 4, Coronation and Trials

Welcome to Arc 4, the Battle of the Dawn. As the arc title says, our King-Emperor is dealing with the dead. But this whole arc is going to be short, maybe 5 or 6 chapters.

Also just so that Jon doesn't look ridiculous, when Jon is in Westeros he will wear the crown of Aegon the First, but when he is in his capital he will wear the rightful crown of his empire.

-King's Landing-

In the Throne Room of the Red Keep lords and ladies from all over the Empire of New Valyria, from all the way from the Shadowlands of Asshai, to the Free Cities. Everywhere you look you could see men, and women of different religions. At the front, to the left and right of the throne the mistresses, children, and family of the man who is about to be named King-Emperor. Aligning the steps of the Iron Throne the new order of the Dragon Guards stood, all wearing armor of the guard while plain was expertly crafted clad head to toe in full suits of Valyrian steel it was a menagerie of colours as each guard wore a surcoat to denote his house some had belts encrusted with fine gems others lion skin cloaks with various ornaments decorating their helms, all wearing capes standing for their order.

At the foot of the throne stood two men. One of them is wearing the maesters chains, and showing his rank by the valyrian steel mask that was covering the top of his face, and in his right hand was a sceptre burnished shaft of four sections containing seven rings of brilliant-cut rubies, topped by a sunrise ruby, which was itself surmounted by a three-headed dragon with the coat of arms of the Empire of New Valyria, and the other a was a polished hollow ball made from red gold encircled by two rows of diamonds and surmounted by a large sapphire topped by a three headed dragon. The other man was wearing a black and red chasuble which had pictures of dragons, and swirls of orange, and an alb under it. And in he was holding a crown of valyrian steel, and many other jewels, but on top was a ruby.

The room was filled with silence as they waited for their new ruler to step through the giant oak-and-bronze doors.

When the door opened everyone watched as their new ruler walk into the room wearing a fine chainmail hauberk and breastplate embossed with twin wolves over a tabard, steel pauldrons resembling the head of wolves snarling and articulated steel gauntlets, full grieves and a sword belt studded with fine onyx's, which had Blackfyre attached to it, he was also wearing a cloak of black cloth lined with ermine fur. Behind him followed Val of the Freefolk, Rhaenys Blackfyre, and Arianne Martell, all three of them with a big belly.

The people watched as their monarch walked down the hall towards the Throne, with the aura of authority around him and was palpable; It's clear that he is a man who is used to being instantly obeyed, and yet it is obvious that he remains a warrior first and foremost. As he reached the throne, to stand in front of the man priest. The priest looked down at the floor, and the people watched as Daeron Targaryen bowed his head.

The priest placed a hand on his head, and started praying, "O Lord our Gods, King of kings and Dragon of Dragons, who through the shepherds of the mountain brought them to your children, and didst anoint them worthy of having them, making your kingdom; hear now the supplication of us though unworthy, and look forth from Thy holy dwelling place and vouchsafe to anoint with the oil of gladness Thy faithful servant Daeron, whom Thou hast been pleased to establish as king over Thy holy people which Thou hast made Thine own by the blood of your children, and your chosen people. Clothe him with power from on high; set on his head a crown of precious stones; bestow on him length of days, set in his right hand a scepter of salvation; establish him upon the throne of righteousness; defend him with the panoply of thy Holy Spirit; strengthen his arm; subject to him all the barbarous nations; sow in his heart the fear of Thee and feeling for his subjects; preserve him in the blameless faith; Old: make him manifest as the sure guardian of the doctrines of Thy Church of the 14 Flames, and the Godswoods of the Old; that he may judge Thy people in righteousness and Thy poor in judgment, and save the sons of those in want and may be an heir of Thy heavenly kingdom. [Aloud] For Thine is the might of and Thine is the kingdom and the power, of the Old Ones, and of the 14 Flames."

The maester yelled out, "Bow your head unto the Gods Chosen." As everyone bowed their heads, they listened as the priest continued to pray.

"To Thee alone, King of mankind, has he to whom Thou hast entrusted the earthly kingdom bowed his neck with us. And we pray Thee, Lord of all, keep him under Thine own shadow; strengthen his kingdom; grant that he may do continually those things which are pleasing to Thee; make to arise in his days righteousness and abundance of peace; that in his tranquility we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and gravity. For Thou art the King of peace and the Saviour of our souls and bodies and to Thee we ascribe glory: to the Old Ones, and to 14 Flame, now and forever. now and ever, and unto the ages of ages." When this is done the future ruler of Westeros motioned the priest to hand him the crown, and as it is presented, the king took the crown, and placed it upon his head. Then the Grand Maester stepped forward with the sceptre, and orb. The Maester handed the two, to the priest and the priest looked towards Daeron Targaryen, and continued, "Most Gods-fearing, absolute, and mighty Lord, King-Emperor of all the Valerians, this visible and tangible adornment of thy head is an eloquent symbol that thou, as the head of the whole Valerions people, art invisibly crowned by the King of kings, with a most ample blessing, seeing that He bestows upon thee entire authority over His people." He hands the two to the King-Emperor, who took the orb in his left hand, and the sceptre in the right. As they were placed in the hands of the man, the priest spoke again, "Gods-crowned, Gods'-given, Gods-adorned, most pious King-Emperor and great Sovereign, King-Emperor of All the World. Receive the sceptre and the orb, which are the visible signs of the autocratic power given thee from the Most High over thy people, that thou mayest rule them and order for them the welfare they desire."

Then as one everyone bowed, and the now named King-Emperor, slowly walked up the steps to the Iron Throne, and as he sat down, everyone started chanting. Everyone silenced as their ruler raised a hand. They watched as he motioned the three women that were standing behind him to come towards him. They listened and as they stopped in front of him, and bowed their heads they watched as the king-emperor took off the crown, and for only a second he placed it on each of their heads, and everyone understood the symbolism of this. Making them his equal, and his queens.

When they all turned around, everyone bowed. At that moment the Targaryen Dynasty was renewed, and all powerful. The Empire of New Valyria stretched out from corner to corner of this world, and as news of a new capital spread everyone whispered where it would be, and how large it would be. Today marks a new era to the people of this planet, and this era will continue into the future.

-Daeron/Jon(Trials. Days Later)-

Jon sat the Iron Throne with the crown upon his head, and Blackfyre, and hidden from his eyes, an aura coming off the blade, beside him. Aligning the stairs to the throne were Jon's Dragonguards, all wearing the new armour of the order, and along the walls lined the banner of House Targaryen(think of the banner of House Baratheon of King's Landing but this time a three headed dragon, on a black background, on the left, and a grey direwolf, with a white background, on the right). But as Jon waited for the prisoners to enter the throne room, Daeron Targaryen had his head in his hand. For the past few days he has had this eminence pain growing, and it all started on the day he was crowned.

He knew that this wasn't natural, for every morning he woke up there was a voice, and that voice made him shiver to the bones. The voice was dark, evil, and powerful, this voice wanted people to fear him, and it was slowly consuming him. His wives, and lovers knew this and they tried to help, but each time he denied them. Every time it left was when he was ruling, or sparring.

Daeron Targaryen was taken from his thoughts when the great doors opened, he sat straight forgetting about the pain, and watched as a small army of men and women, all cuffed obviously, with golden hair, and emerald eyes entered. And leading this small army was a bald man, who walked like he ruled everything.

As they stopped in front of the throne, Jon spoke, "All the people who stand before the throne are here because of the crimes they have done against the House Targaryen, and its throne, none of you will be able to have a trial by combat nor an actual trial. You will be judged by me, Daeron Targaryen, the King-Emperor of the Holy Empire of New Valyria." He stared as everyone either stiffened, or released a sigh of defeat. Jon nodded, as he felt like everyone now understood what would happen, "All those here are under the crimes of," Jon slowly named them off, and as he was about to say, "Usurping". The Bastard King yelled out.

"That throne doesn't belong to you, you heathen!" He looked around, looked to the guards, and commanded, "Arrest this man! He will be beheaded when everyone finds out this whole thing was a lie."

Jon looked around at everyone in the room, and watched as not a single muscle moved from the guards. Joffrey Waters was about to yell again but Jon spoke first, "Gag him." He watched as a guard ripped a cloth off and then shoved it down the boy's mouth. All Jon heard was muffled silence, he looked towards the man who looked at him with a stare that if it could kill it would.

Daeron looked between all of the people and as the room was filled with silence, as no one moved. The silence was broken by the King-Emperor speaking, "Tywin Lannister, step forward." He watched as the man took a step forward, "Before we continue I want you to tell me something." He leaned forward, and with a glare that could kill asked, "Where is my sister, and stepmother?"

The Lord and King-Emperor stared at each other, and everyone watched with bated breath as they watched the two men stared. After about thirty seconds the silence was broken, Cersei Lannister laughed, "Your sister is in the dungeons crying like a babe. And your mother is-"

"Naath." She was cut off by her father, as he didn't lose contact with the purple/velvet and red outlined eyes, "Elia Martell, and Rhaenys Targaryen are on the island of Naath." Gasps could be heard as everyone took that information in, "The two that were killed were two look-alikes. Elia Martell called me here one evening to ask for help. I denied and left but I had a spy listening to this conversation. When I got the news I left for King's Landing to kill them, but I was too late."

Everyone stayed silent, and still as the information was absorbed. The thing that broke the silence was clanging of changes as the Golden Lion moved from his spot, and as he punched his father. Jon watched this, listening to what Jaime Lannister had to say about this, "You made me live twenty years of the guilt of failing them! For nothing! When they are still living!" They watched as the Youngest Man to be Named a Kingsguard cried.

The Great Dragon waved his hand, and watched as one of the cellmen moved the Golden Lion away from the Old Lion. Daeron Targaryen stared at the man who caused House Targaryen so many years of suffering. After about twenty seconds Jon thought of a way for the man to repent for his crimes against his family. Jon sat straight, and spoke, "Tywin Lannister, Son of Tytos Lannister, and the Old Lion. For the crimes against the crown, and my house, I sentence you to a walk of shame from the Red Keep to Casterly Rock, where you will await your beheading. People will be allowed to throw shit, food, or whatever they want as you take this walk. You will do this naked, with nothing to keep you warm."

Everyone looked at him with slightly wide eyes, and as two of the guards took the soon to be humiliated great lord, who was for the first time staring wide eyes as he was taken away. Jon heard the door closed and looked to the next person who was about to be killed or humiliated. The person he was looking at shivered as he looked at her.

Daeron Targaryen spoke with a clear voice his next order, "Jaime Lannister," his eyes moved to the knight, who was finished with the crying, "You are guilty of Kingslaying, my grandfather." He watched as everyone watched what he was about to say, "But that crime will be taken away for the reason you saved everyone in this city for killing the Mad King." Everyone looked at him confused. Jon continued, "If none of you noticed, wildfire has been coming up in hundreds each day. If Ser Jaime Lannister didn't kill the Mad King that wildfire would be lit and everyone would be burned or crushed." Jon released a sigh, "But I can't let you go unpunished." Everyone looked to him, "For the crimes oath breaking, and helping with usupering. You will have your non-dominant hand cut off." Everyone looked to him with wide eyes, but Jon continued, "Now."

Daeron watched as Jaime looked to him with wide eyes, but he nodded in understanding, and everyone watched as a man wielding a hot knife, in his other hand was a strap of leather, he handed it to the knight, who bet down on it, and the man grabbed the hand he was to cut off. Within seconds the hand was on the floor, and Daeron Targaryen stood grabbing Blackfyre and walked down the stairs, and to where Jaime Lannister was kneeling. The knight looked up to him, and Jon drew Blackfyre and tapped each shoulder, "Jaime Lannister, Son of Tywin Lannister, I welcome you into the Dragonguards. You will have the same orders and rules as before but this time you will be able to have your freedom." Jaime nodded, and Jon placed a hand on the man's shoulder, "Now get that looked at. You will have two weeks of recovery time, and then you will be in your role as Dragonguard."

Jaime nodded and the guard uncuffed him, and then led him to the maester room. All the while Jon walked back up the steps, and as he was about to turn around the pain increased, and this time he let out a pained groan. But he continued on and sat down. He looked at the slowly shrinking army, and he looked over to the previous king, "Joffrey Waters, Bastard Son of Cersei Lannister, and a man I won't name. You are under the crimes of usurping, ordering to kill babes, and for wrongs you did. I sentence you to crucifixion out in the city." He nodded to a guard, and watched as he led a struggling bastard out the room. Daeron then looked to the mother, "Cersei Lannister. You have not committed any real crimes against the crown nor the House Targaryen. But under the crimes of rape, helping usurping, I sentence you to a life on Bear Island. You won't have any house to sleep in nor live in. You will be given not gold, silver, or bronze."

Cersei stared at him, and as she was being taken away, Jon heard her shout, "I will not be going to the lands of I barbarians and savages! I won't! I command a trial by combat! I demand a-"

A door slammed and the room was filled with silence as the prisoners looked to the man who just humiliated their house twice. The King-Empire felt the pain in his head grow, and he now found himself shaking. But before it could get too serious Jon continued with the trial, "Myrcella, and Tommen Waters." He watched as the two kids stepped forward, and Jon looked at them, "Myrcella I legitimize you as Myrcella Baratheon. You will remain in King's Landing until I have chosen a worthy man to marry you, or you find someone you want to marry." He watched as the girl smiled, and nodded. Daeron moved to the youngest siblings, and spoke, "Tommen I legitimize you as a new family of House Dondarrion. You will remain a loyal servant to my heirs, and their heirs. You will rule from Summerhall when it is complete. You will never rise to rebellion, nor your heirs." The boy nodded hurriedly, and with a smile. Jon smiled, and looked over to a guard, "Get rooms ready for them. Have them washed, and bathed. Make sure no harm comes to them." The guard nodded and uncuffed the two children, and led them to the exit.

Jon knew he was showing a weakness, but he knew those two had nothing to do with what happened, and they were the only innocent children Cersei Lannister gave birth to. The pain continued to grow, and this time he rubbed his eyes. This was obvious to everyone, and the person who ask, but was cut off was Tyrion Lannister, "Your Gra-"

Jon raised a hand which silenced Tyrion. Jon opened his eyes, and looked towards the last bunch of Lannisters, and spoke, "Tyrion Lannister. You have done nothing wrong, nor done nothing to me or my house so I release you. But you won't be taken to Casterly Rock. That castle now belongs to Gerion Lancaster, and his heirs. You will get Lannisport to rule from."

Tyrion nodded with a bow, "Thank you, Your Grace."

Jon nodded, and looked to the last of the Lannisters, and with everything done, he said, "None of you have done anything wrong, but none of you will ever hold power in the empire. You can return to your homes and live your life in peace." He watched as everyone thanked him, and were all uncuffed, and as everyone was about to be led Jon spoke, "Genna Lannister." The Lannister turned around and walked towards the throne. As she stopped in front of the throne, Jon looked down at her, "Tell me about the Freys'."
