The Silence
Julia watched the men around her. The rhythmic sound of the shinai and men chanting was somewhat therapeutic. Hinako said that watching Mori and some members of their dojo practice cleared her mind so hopefully this would help. The rumors about the Morinozuka mansion having a calming effect was true.
It was difficult being a chairwoman since she had several disadvantages that made them question her credibility. They felt that she was too young and inexperienced, the fact that she was a woman also bothered them, and her unusual upbringing just placed the extra icing on the cake.
She had to adjust to the sudden changes in lifestyle too. She couldn't go wherever she pleased and there was just one protocol after another. It was too restrictive that she didn't feel like herself.
Mori wiped off the sweat on his forehead. He set aside his shinai as he watched the newly appointed chairwoman stare blankly as she sat on the floor in absolute distress.
"She's got a lot on her plate." Hinako whispered. She held the back of Mori's gi. "I don't even know how to help her."
Mori had a small smile on his face as he placed his hand on top of Hinako's head. He watched his fiancé's expression ease before he took it off.
"She'll find her inner peace."
Hinako approached Julia and sat beside her without saying anything. Mori did say that silence was as therapeutic as words. Julia's eyes never looked this tired before. She even lost some weight, but her current state was much better. When Kyoya was still unconscious, Julia barely slept, she would eat a bit with much persuasion from Misuzucchi. She was the type to beat herself up and Hinako was sure that Julia blamed herself partly for what happened to Kyoya.
"I'll get us something to drink." Hinako pat Julia's back.
Julia quickly looked over sighed. "Thank you."
It seemed like the Kendo practice was done since Mori was already packing up his things. When everyone was gone, he sat beside Julia and crossed his legs.
Somehow, Mori's presence was calming as it is. He hasn't said a word, but Julia felt her thoughts clear bit by bit. The gentle breeze let the chime ring slowly.
"Mitsukuni initially had difficulty accepting the Haninozuka way." Mori said without warning.
Julia was almost surprised, but it got her attention. It baffled her with how someone could look so serene.
"The Haninozuka way was to control self-interests and attain a state of selflessness."
"But that's…." Julia wasn't able to finish her sentence. It was the complete opposite of Honey's essence. She never knew Honey's family required this kind of self-control which he personally didn't participate in.
"Mitsukini tried to do things in a path that he was expected to take." Mori elaborated.
"He tried to achieve his goals by doing what those around him were saying?" Julia asked.
"Un."
The occasional sound of the bamboo fountain and the wind chime was the only thing that broke the silence.
"Mitsukuni realized that the expectation of him weren't his true strength." Mori continued. "Someone told him that true strength was accepting and knowing what you want."
Mori stood up and took his kendo gear. "I don't know what plans your father and grandfather had for you, but they might have wanted you to find your true self before taking up such a position."
Alas, the Morinozuka Mansion lived up to its rumors of being a place of peace. Hinako was finally back with some tea and biscuits. She smiled at Mori and felt the change in mood instantly.
"Ju-chan, I wasn't sure what you wanted so I just got both strawberry and apricot jams." Hinako said as she carried the tray.
Somehow, it felt like Julia was back. She stood up with this newfound strength, took a few pieces of biscuits from Hinako. It was the first time the couple saw Julia smile this way for weeks.
"I'm so sorry, Hinako-chan. I'll make it up to you." Julia said as she started putting on her shoes. "I've got to show them what this chairwoman is made of."
Julia left so quickly and even slipped along the way, but the recovery was fast. Hinako looked at Takashi.
"I knew you would be able to help." Hinako said proudly.
The Talk
"Congratulations, Ootori-sama."
Kyoya stretched out his right arm. The doctor looked at him expectantly as he saw his forearm for the first time. The nurse wiped off the remains of the cast. It felt weird seeing his arm after how many months. He almost forgot how it looked like.
"Now, I need you to raise both arms, Ootori-sama." The doctor demonstrated.
Kyoya did as instructed and he saw that his right hand was a bit shakier compared to his left. He continued to follow the arm movements that was being demonstrated.
"Do you feel any pain?"
"None so far."
The doctor continued to write down his progress and gave Kyoya different kinds of weights to lift as he continued the exercises. Kyoya took deep breaths in a futile attempt to stabilize his right hand as he lifted the three-pound dumbbell.
"It's not too heavy?"
"No, but my hand wouldn't stop shaking." Kyoya tried his best to hide his frustration. The doctor handed him the 5-pound dumbbell and 2-pound dumbbell alternately. Observing the movement of his hand, but regardless of the weight the moment his arm was outstretched it had this tremor.
The doctor continued to write down Kyoya's progress. "You're doing fine, Ootori-sama. It's a good thing your arm didn't lose its strength."
"Will the tremors go away with therapy?" Kyoya asked as he raised his arms forward and to the side while lifting the 5-pound weights.
"The tremors are normal considering the extent of injury you faced. There was some nerve damage already." The doctor reassured. "Unfortunately, you'd have to live with that for the rest of your life."
Kyoya sighed. It wasn't a big hindrance, but it would take some getting used to. He was lucky that his line of work didn't depend on fine motor skills. The doctor handed him a stress ball and instructed him to squeeze it as often as he could even while resting. It was to prepare him for the next stage of therapy for his right arm. The extra therapy sessions he requested was also taking its effect now. He could easily move his torso, arms, and shoulders. Now that the cast was removed, he was permitted to move around the facility by himself using a wheelchair.
Kyoya was brought back to his room and placed back on the bed. Time in the hospital moves slow when you're healing. He pretended not to notice the two curious people standing outside his room.
"Niisan, did they remove your cast already?" A young girl around the age of eight that befriended Kyoya entered.
Kyoya raised his right arm and showed her the new achievement. The huge grin on her face was almost infectious. Kyoya could feel his mouth turn slightly upward. She ran in, took out a gaming console and sat on Kyoya's bed.
"That means we can play together now!" she cheered. She called her much more reserved companion who hesitantly stood by the door to signal that it's play time.
The young girl walked to the other side of Kyoya's bed and dragged the oxygen tank close by. Kyoya watched her hesitantly move close to him.
"Yumi-chan, move a bit to your left so Sa-chan can sit." He moved a little towards the center. He pat the area to his right and the child smiled.
"Neh, if Niisan got his cast off, then I'm sure all my hair's going to grow back." Yumi-chan said triumphantly.
It was a precarious situation to be in. Kyoya may be ruthless, cold, and callous at times, but he wasn't inhumane enough to reject the two kids. No matter how much they tried to braid his hair or make him watch another make up tutorial, he couldn't find it in himself to refuse.
"Sa-chan, I wish I had pretty hair like yours." Yumi-chan fixed her purple bonnet that had sunflowers on it.
Kyoya felt an unfamiliar pinch in his chest. No one was emotionally prepared to face children who were fighting for their lives. Yumi-chan was a stage 3 cancer patient who was scheduled to undergo several chemotherapy sessions. Sa-chan had a birth defect with her heart and was scheduled for another open-heart surgery.
"Niisan, you're not following the directions properly." Yumi-chan paused the video tutorial. "You said you had to get your girlfriend to like you back again, right?"
Yumi kneeled on the bed and placed her hands on her waist. "Girls get happy if they have nice hair, so you need to put more effort."
"I'm sorry, madam." Kyoya apologized graciously. "It won't happen again."
"Next time you ask us for advice with how to make girls happy, you need to put more effort." Yumi said threateningly. Well, as threatening as an eight-year-old child can get.
The more timid child smiled back at Kyoya. "Did she like our present though?"
"Yes, she did." Kyoya took his phone and showed them a picture of the greeting cards they made. It was placed on Julia's refrigerator back home.
"But niisan…" Yumi pressed her lips together. There was that feeling that she wasn't sure how she was going to ask her question, but a child's curiosity was endless. "How did you get such a pretty girlfriend? She's too good for you."
Sa-chan lightly scolded Yumi for being too direct. She looked at Kyoya and reassured him. "I'm sure that she likes you even if you're not good enough for her."
Yumi nodded. "Niisan's girlfriend is so cool!"
Sa-chan agreed silently but with conviction as well. She pat Kyoya's head repeatedly to make him feel better about his situation. Kyoya couldn't say anything at this point. Those were two strikes that took a direct hit on his pride. There was nothing at all like the honesty of a child.
Sa-chan took the remote and opened the television. She flicked the channels then gasped. "It's your girlfriend, niisan!" she exclaimed.
This was the most energetic Sa-chan's been. They watched the news and she explained the new direction of the Mizushima Corporation. The air of confidence was there. Kyoya smirked as he watched. Julia was wearing bright colors on screen. A clear demonstration of her fight against the Mizushima norm. She broke one expectation after another as she finished her speech. With a simple move, she was able to regain the trust of the public and their shareholders.
"She's so pretty." Yumi looked at the screen.
The rest of the afternoon was spent playing some kitchen relay game on the gaming console and watching video tutorials with how to braid hair. By dinner time, the two girls brought their food to his room and they watched the anime that was playing.
"You're really living up to your 'okaasan' nickname." Julia teased lightly.
Kyoya looked at Julia and quickly took off the pink hair clip the two girls placed on him. "I'm at a losing proposition here."
The two girls quickly went down the bed and grinned at Julia. Somehow, they were so noisy when it was just Kyoya but they get very shy once Julia's there. Yumi-chan and Sa-chan looked starstruck as Julia stood by the door.
As Julia went in the room, she could see from the corner of her eye how the two girls were trying to signal something to Kyoya. Julia placed her bag on the bedside table and took out two bags with special treats. She gestured for the girls to come near her.
"It's our little secret." Julia whispered.
The two excited girls looked at the contents of the bag and grinned. They went out of the room quickly since Julia got them new toys to play with. Julia sat on the bed, not noticing that the cast on Kyoya's arm was gone. She was about to saying something but was cut off by Yumi who ran back and stood by the door.
"Niisan! The Kiss!" Yumi said with a hushed voice that was loud enough to be heard by everyone in the hallway.
Kyoya ignored the last comment his new friend made. He watched Julia smile at the child's comment as she shook her head.
"You did well today." Kyoya commended.
"Thanks, I got some help from Mori and Hinako." Julia sighed as she fixed Kyoya's hair which was a mess from the aftermath of two little girl's trying to style it. She couldn't believe her eyes but Kyoya looked even more handsome with his hair slightly longer than how he usually kept it. It didn't just fall flat on his head, but it had that similar volume that Fuyumi and Noriko had.
"I thought my knees were going to give way after the speech though." Julia laughed. She felt Kyoya hold her hand and as he squeezed it lightly.
"It gets easier." He reassured. He pushed his glasses up and readjusted his position. "I'd be lying if I said I wasn't slightly nervous for my first televised speech."
Julia looked down and realized it was Kyoya's right hand that was holding her. She hugged Kyoya tightly which caught him off guard. Kyoya saw two little girls still peaking through his door signaling him about kissing. The look of frustration was clear on their faces.
Without any warning, Julia placed her lips on Kyoya's. She intertwined her fingers with his and pulled away too early for the Shadow King's liking. She looked behind them and laughed. The door was finally closed and there were no more prying eyes. The light kiss was probably their first intimate contact since she officially became a Mizushima. Their relationship was in this undefined state. They weren't a couple officially, but they acted like it…somewhat. They didn't do those anniversary celebrations or those cheesy wallpapers.
"They must have been surprised." She said as she bit her lip.
Somehow, Julia flicked a switch in Kyoya. Lately, his eyes had a gentler expression to it, but right now it was dark and almost intense. It felt like his gaze was already melting her skin. Kyoya then pulled her closer as he deepened the kiss. She didn't notice that she was already on Kyoya's lap with her arms wrapped around his neck. She almost forgot how intense his actions could get, but she wasn't complaining. It didn't take long for him to start nipping her neck. Kyoya suddenly stopped and he rest his head on Julia's shoulder.
"Sorry. I got carried away." Kyoya's voice was filled with longing. He took one deep breath after another to get himself back. His hands held hers as he tried to regain control of himself.
Julia hugged Kyoya in silence. In a few moments she felt his arms around her. This was a side any Ootori would never show to the world. Kyoya hated to admit it to himself, but Julia was right. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't push her away or get her out of his thoughts. He knew and accepted that he was a greedy man. He ran his fingers through Julia's hair as he was lost in his thoughts.
"I'm sorry." Kyoya apologized.
Julia wasn't sure where this was coming from. "What for? If it's the kiss I wanted it as much as you."
Kyoya smirked and he shook his head. That wasn't the problem at all. He had to stop himself at that point or else he was going to lose whatever control he had left. He continued to run his fingers through her hair. It was a familiar and foreign sensation at the same time.
"I understand that being the chairwoman of a distinguished international corporation has certain expectations. That includes trivial matters like who you meet or which person you're dating."
Julia didn't say anything, but she let Kyoya hold her then and there. She was just thankful that he was breathing and that he was fine.
"Although you don't mind what the board says, I would rather you take some of their points into consideration." Kyoya squeezed Julia's hand again.
Julia was about to protest, but Kyoya placed a finger on her lips.
"I also know for a fact that the men you're allowed to date follow a certain criterion which is reasonable for anyone in your position. Unfortunately, given my current circumstance I'm unable to meet those expectations." Kyoya continued.
"It's fine, Kyoya." Julia squeezed his hand. "I'll convince the board somehow."
Kyoya shook his head. "I know you will, but you don't need to do anything. I'm just apologizing since I may have to delay making things official until I meet their expectations. I wouldn't want you to be with any man that couldn't even meet basic standards."
"Your definition of basic standards is skewed, Kyoya." Julia kissed him lightly on the lips again. This was a man who bet his life on her. He took the bullet for her in a literal and figurative sense. He overthrew a business empire for her. It was almost absurd how he was thinking about some criterion sheet the board had for people she was allowed to date. It would be futile to change Kyoya's mind once its set.
"I don't mind waiting. I know you'll meet those expectations." Julia said.
Kyoya ran his fingers through her hair again. Sometimes he did it because he was scared that it might be the last his last chance to do this.
"Cafuné." He said.
"What?"
"Cafuné." Kyoya repeated. "It's a term I learned in Brazil. There's no direct translation for it, but it's a term used to describe when someone's running their fingers through the hair of someone they love."
No other words had to be said. The rest of the night, they spent together in silence. Julia found herself waking up the following day right next to Kyoya. His arms were wrapped tightly around he waist. This was something she didn't mind doing for the rest of her life. They both felt content with moments like this. No other words and no direct confessions had to be made at this point.
The Fighter
Kyoya bit his lip as he gripped on the iron bars at his side. He moved one leg after another. His breathing was labored, and he could feel the sweat dripping from his forehead.
"Go niisan!" Sa-chan cheered. The girl continued to jump and cheer for him. She was discharged a few months ago since her heart surgery was a success. She was already done with her physical therapy session, but she always stayed after to wait for Kyoya to finish his.
Kyoya continued to move one foot after another. The physical therapist held him as he progressed. He almost lost his footing midway.
"Are you okay, Ootori-sama? Shall we end the session here?"
Kyoya shook his head as he took another deep breath getting back on his feet was difficult enough. They ended the session earlier than he wanted and he sat back on the bench.
"Yumi-chan's gonna be so happy you can already stand." Sa-chan said. "When will they remove the cast on your leg?"
"Maybe next month." Kyoya answered. Right now, he had a special kind of cast that let him walk around so he can start moving around sooner. He had to work hard for his goal. Once the cast on his leg was removed, things would get easier from there.
"But you can walk with crutches already." Sa-chan said.
Kyoya was able to walk slowly with support, but that was his first time walking without anything else supporting him. He had to learn how to put weight back on his legs which he found difficult.
"Do you want to visit Yumi-chan after this?" Kyoya asked. He took his crutches and they made their way back to the palliative care facility.
"Niisan, why are you keeping it a secret that you can stand already? Yumi-chan doesn't even know." Sa-chan asked. She heard from the nurses that Kyoya never stood up when his friends visited.
"I wanted it to be a surprise." Kyoya said. He was almost surprised with how easily he said it. He stopped by his room and took a small box on the table. He promised that he would already be standing so he could visit her before her surgery.
"Is that the gift for Yumi-chan?" Sa-chan smiled. "I'll hold it." The young girl took the box and ran to Yumi's room.
Kyoya could already hear the excitement from their voices. He stood by the door and watched the two girls catch up with each other.
"You kept your promise!" Yumi smiled. She felt hopeful when she saw Kyoya walk towards her.
"I promised you that you'd see me stand before your operation." Kyoya took the stool dragged it closer to the bed.
In a span of months, Kyoya saw her condition worsen. She used to an energetic child that suddenly became too weak to even stand or move. She wasn't responding to the treatment, so surgery was their final option.
"I remember you told me you wanted to be like Sailor Moon." Kyoya said. He took the box from Sa-chan and placed it on Yumi-chan's lap. She took out the small pink Sailor Moon staff and it even had blonde wig with two ponytails. Kyoya took the wig from Yumi-chan's hands and carefully placed it on Yumi's head.
"Do I look pretty, niisan?"
"You've always looked beautiful, Yumi-chan." Kyoya replied. He was on full host mode. After all, their motto was to make sure that they ended women's suffering. He couldn't possibly turn a blind eye to this.
"Moon prism power, make up!" Yumi-chan demonstrated as she waved her new staff around.
Kyoya admired children for their ability to stay positive regardless of the situation. He watched the nurses transfer Yumi to the stretcher that was going to take her to the operating room. She waved goodbye to her two companions. That night, Kyoya heard cries that came from what used to be Yumi-chan's room. There were people like Sa-chan and him who were lucky enough to have a second chance, but not everyone was given the same opportunity.
The Surprise
It was a special occasion today. Kyoya just turned thirty. With the press still in the dark, there were plenty of rumors about Kyoya on the tabloids. One claimed that he was actually dead and that they had proof that the Ootori family had their funeral rights. Another magazine says that his still in the hospital and was unconscious. It was almost funny how several reporters even tried getting information from Kyoya's employees, but they knew as much as everyone else.
Yesterday, the Ootori family had a 'simple' gathering of their own already. She was invited to join their intimate dinner with just family members. Noriko was already calling her 'daughter' during informal gatherings. Yoshio hinted that he was still waiting for more grandchildren. It put a lot of pressure on them since they were taking things slow.
Sometimes, Julia forgot how much influence Kasanoda had. The reason why the press couldn't go near the hospital Kyoya was in was because the area was under their yakuza's jurisdiction. Two families under their care patrolled the area and kept tabs with who tried to sneak in. It also didn't help that the Ootori police force was also patrolling the area discreetly. This past week, there was almost an overwhelming amount of security. To the untrained eye, most of the guests and bystanders looked like regular citizens, but they were definitely yakuza and the Ootori forces.
Today was the biggest celebration and everyone from the Host Club and close their close friends was going to visit Kyoya. Internal arrangements have been made in the facility to accommodate the guests. The best part was it was kept as a secret from the birthday celebrant.
Tamaki couldn't wipe off the smile on his face as he carried the cake. Haruhi was already in function hall making the decorations. Fuyumi insisted it be a commoner like gathering with a do it yourself kind of feel.
"Is that the cake?" Julia asked. They went through security and passed through one of the employee entrances that led to the party venue in the hospital.
"Had it shipped from France." Tamaki said. "This was the only sweet delicacy that Kyoya liked."
"I thought he hated sweets?" Julia uneasy all of a sudden.
"Yes, but this is the only exception to the rule." Tamaki triumphantly mentioned. No one else knew Okaasan better than him.
When they got to the function hall, there was more chaos than order. Kaoru ran to Julia and Tamaki. The poor Hitachiin looked traumatized.
"Fuyumi-neesan has lost it." Hikaru ran away from the battlefield.
"It can't be that bad." Tamaki said. He was painfully optimistic, but even he froze in place when he saw the mess.
Megumi sat comfortable on one of the chairs near the center of the room. She pressed her lips together as she looked at the mess that unfolded in front of her. Benibara 'helped' as well with creating even more mess. Chizuru and Hinako stood behind Megumi. This was beyond their expertise. They looked at the entrance and had a look of relief now.
"I really feel like I made the right decision." Megumi walked over to safer grounds. She placed her hand on Julia's shoulder. "Maybe it's time you stopped your oneesan from making too much of a mess."
Hikaru and Kaoru pushed her into the room. The three Hitachiins had a smirk on their face as they retreated far far away as possible. Leaving her to deal with the mess. Tamaki was still frozen in place. Luckily, Haruhi, Chizuru, and Hinako was still in the room. History really had a way of repeating itself.
"Good job, Ootori-sama." The doctor was genuinely surprised with Kyoya's progress.
Kyoya moved one leg after another and was walking without any support. The physical therapists felt proud with how well Kyoya was doing. In a span of a month, Kyoya went from standing to walking fully without any support.
"Sensei, will we remove my cast after this?" Kyoya asked. He took his towel and wiped the sweat off his forehead.
The doctor nodded. "Right on schedule. Just as you hoped."
The nurse pushed Kyoya's wheelchair and made their way to the doctor's office and took off the cast. Finally, Kyoya stretched his leg and it felt much lighter. His leg looked even paler than the rest of his body considering it's been covered for more than half a year.
"Are you ready for another physical therapy session or will we call it a day?"
"I'll have another one." Kyoya said as he moved his leg.
It was a secret Kyoya kept from everyone. He didn't elaborate about his progress. He had to set a time limit for himself. For the past week, he walked as much as he could until he regained his balance. After all, his birthday was never complete without the yearly surprise party his friends organized. In all honesty, he would be more surprised if his friends decided not to do anything.
Finally, the day came when one of staff that spied for him told him about the chaos that was happening with one of the function rooms. It was just as he predicted. Kyoya went back to his room and changed into slightly more appropriate clothes for the occasion. He couldn't be seen wearing hospital pajamas. He sat back down on his wheelchair and waited.
"I think this might make the act more convincing." Kyoya's primary nurse took one of the hospital blankets and placed it on Kyoya's lap. Carefully covering his legs.
Just as Kyoya predicted, Honey and Mori entered his room and brought him to the gardens. Serving as a distraction for the event. Honey went back and forth with how Tamaki was on a business trip. The Host King even went the extra mile by calling Kyoya and talking about his "trip to France."
It had a chance to be convincing if Tamaki's voice wasn't so loud that Kyoya could hear it from his location or the fact that the hospital announcements were also heard from the phone. However, Kyoya indulged Tamaki's wishes.
As if things weren't enough, when Mori and Honey brought him to the more secluded part of the hospital, A group of "doctors" were suddenly running. Benibara was on a stretcher and the whole scene was just dramatic. She called for Kyoya as she was being brought to the operating room repeating how she needed his strength since her injuries were critical.
Kyoya sighed. How did he find himself being friends with this…species? He wasn't sure if he could consider them regular humans. Honey ran after Benibara while Mori pushed Kyoya's wheelchair. When they opened the door, he was greeted with confetti and balloons scattered all over the place.
"Happy birthday, Kyoya!"
The Hosts held his birthday cake and they brought it closer to him. Fuyumi, Hinako, Chizuru, and Benibara threw more confetti in the air. It's been too long since they've had this kind of reunion. He watched Julia light the candles and before they could even sing him a birthday song, he stood up walked to the cake and blew the candle.
The atmosphere became quiet. All his guests who were supposed to surprise him ended up looking more shocked. No one knew how to express their happiness in that moment. Tamaki couldn't even hide his tears as Kyoya stood in front of him. Julia looked up to Kyoya. She almost forgot how tall he was. Somehow, Kyoya found himself in the middle of a group hug despite his protests. However, he was going to let it slide today. This occasion wasn't a daily occurrence.
Hello again. Thank you for your support.
I've been on a roll with the updates lately. I was thinking if I should go back and edit the first few chapters before writing down the next omakes. I don't feel satisfied with how I wrote it. I feel like cringing at some parts.
Also, yaaay! It's almost time for the next big reveal. Then maybe a part of me lied. I don't think I'm doing 4 omakes. I'm going all the way to 5 or 6 now.
So just some notes,
1. The Silence
Shinai- is a weapon used for practice and competition in kendo representing a Japanese sword.
Gi- this is the white karate/aikido/kendo/martial arts uniform.
To be honest, I really wanted Mori to have more "screen time". His character has always been so underrated. He's usually left as the silent tall person in plenty of fanfics. This is consistent with how he's portrayed in the anime, but it really doesn't do his character any justice. Please read the manga for those who haven't. You'll see even more character development on his part.
2. The Talk
Yes, I went there. No matter how cold and serious Kyoya can be there's no way he could be so heartless to just flat out refuse sick children. It's really a pet peeve when fanfics describe him as plain cold hearted/monster. *sorry if I offend anyone but this is my opinion and not anyone elses* they literally tore down the character in the manga and anime. Yes, he's cold and calculating. He's a bit detached with others and skeptic, but he isn't a total asshole.
Also I went that direction with Kyoya and Julia's relationship. I know most of you would be like 'why not make it official already?' or 'i just want them to be together forever'. I can hear the protests already. The more I thought about it, would it be like Kyoya to just take a free pass like that? He has too much pride for that kind of treatment. He seems to be the kind of person that would need this sense of self before he moved onto others. It's the same for Julia. I don't find it realistic for two adults to just go 'hey we're official now. we're getting married.' They're too mature to be that spontaneous.
Poor guy though. If a simple kiss had that effect on him, I feel bad for his sanity.
3. The Fighter
I was inspired to make a segment that focused on Kyoya's newfound connection to his emotions. I feel like this new revamped Kyoya is still reserved. Nothing really changed outwardly, but he's more aware with how he feels and after years and years of denying himself from feeling anything he learns to be more accepting of himself. If that isn't personal growth/strength I don't know what is. For those who disagree with me, you should read the manga. I'm not moving away from canon here. I'm just laying it out for you guys to read in a different material. His character development in the manga is superb and highly underrated.
4. The Surprise
I just want Kyoya to get well fast so he can leave the hospital. My hands are itching to post the next omake soon. My god even I'm excited with his entrance back to the real world. Don't you just find it cool how he just stood up like it was nothing? He's totally living up to his cool type host character now.
Also, I want to hear your thoughts. I know some of you were asking for the talk between Kyoya and Julia and I know I delivered. If you have any comments, feelings, or suggestions I would love to read it. Thank you again for everything.
