Chapter 24
Déjà vu, she thought gleefully as her husband's mouth attacked hers' while they stumbled through the front door of the house they hadn't been in for four years. She giggled when he kicked the door shut viciously and it shook the old house. He grumbled something as he tugged at her clothing. She tugged on his hair to bring his mouth to hers' again, she could still taste the strong alcohol on his tongue as he kissed her, and a drunk giggle escaped her lips again.
Tonight she and Sasuke had gone out to dinner with the Rookie 9, there had been lots of drinks and food and cheers involved. She had listened to her friend bitch about being married, about being parents, about lame missions, and life in general. They had all joked about how Sasuke and she had it all figured out, and how it must've been nice to travel without the worries of a kid. That had nearly had her saying she missed her daughter only for her husband to drag her into his lap and kiss her pulse. Which she knew was something he would never do if a.) he and she hadn't been partially drunk and b.) Naruto hadn't been goading him about them not having sex.
"Sasuke," she whispered and they both tripped to go crashing to the floor, she burst into a fit of giggles in her drunken stupor.
"Sakura," he chuckled as he stropped kissing her then. His brow was resting on hers', his hand was fisted in her hair, and they were both panting and slightly laughing. Her hand was entangled with his shaggy black hair as she lay there with him resting on her.
"Oh boy are we out of practice for drunk sex," she laughed. He snickered then as he kissed her lips lightly.
"Sober sex," he said.
Now she was laying there just laughing as she held onto her husband. He carefully got up off of her, she stumbled to her feet and into her husband. He just chuckled.
"Maybe we should just go to bed today," she giggled out, her drunken state still on her as they leaned on one another to go up to the room. They both fell onto the bed and she stared at him, her fingers were fingering the nub of his arm. It had been a few years since he had taken off his prosthetic, she didn't know why he had or exactly when he had but she had always been curious about it though.
"What?" he mumbled slightly sleepy. She looked to her husband who had one arm draped around her waist.
"Why'd you stop the prosthetic attachment?" she whispered.
"Sarada," he replied and she stared at him. His onyx eyes lifted to hers' then and she saw the shame in them. She knew then he had tried to kill their daughter shortly after her birth, she knew why even, and now she understood why he had slowly stopped relying on the prosthetic.
"Hmm, well, you didn't hurt her, you know, she's a very happy, loving baby," she whispered to him.
"I know," he murmured sleepily and he pulled her closer to him. She just sighed as she closed her eyes and lay there listening to his heart. She loved him, she loved him so much that it amazed her that they were this happy even when he had once despised her very existence once.
Sakura groaned when she woe exactly where she had fallen asleep, in Sasuke's arm and listening to the steady beating of his heart. She moaned a bit as she looked up to the blinding light of the late morning's sun and then she looked into a set of bright red eyes which made her smile as she reached out to touch his cheek.
"Morning," she mumbled. Then she noticed the lack of clothing and remembered what had almost happened last night. Her shirt was probably down stairs somewhere with Sasuke's, and her bra… well it was probably on the stairs, her pants were on the edge of the bed. Looking down she noticed her panties were still on her hips; much to her chagrin.
"Morning," he replied as he kissed her she gasped as she kissed him back. He rolled them over so he was atop her, and she moved her body so he was situated perfectly between her legs as she moved her hips against his. He groaned and then their bedroom door was thrown open.
"GOOD MORNING!" Naruto announced happily. She sighed, Sasuked growled and they both looked at the happy blonde who was bounding into their room. Sakura pulled the sheets up as Sasuke got off of her and sat up.
"Leave. Now. Dobe." Sasuke ordered through clenched teeth.
"Ah-ha! You do have a sex life! Kakashi owes me!" Naruto declared happily. She looked to her rather annoyed looking husband and snickered sex was not really something she or her husband missed out on, they were very active. Though last night had been a dud in their sex life; it wasn't the first time it had happened.
"What do you want Naruto?" she asked lightly.
"Hinata is downstairs with Boruto, she has plans for you two today and the teme and I are going sparring!" Naruto declared cheerfully.
"Alright, we'll be down in a second," Sakura yawned. Sasuke glared at her then the dobe who was bolting out of the room. She looked at his problem hidden in the sheets and giggled.
"Ten minutes, five in the shower, five to get dress," he ordered as he yanked her up with him and dragged her into the shower. She laughed until her back hit the cold tiles, the water was cold as it sputtered to life and his mouth was on hers' as she wrapped herself around him and he held her hips.
"Seven for the shower, three to get dressed," she countered.
"Whatever," he groaned and she gasped as he filled her. She moaned when he moved.
Sasuke had found buttons to be the bane of his existence since removing the prosthetic, so he solved this by not wearing buttons. Until today as his wife slipped his button shirt on to do up. She promised to do a round of laundry but he didn't care as he watched her slim fingers. She was quick as she helped him and then pulled on her own clothes. They made it down the stairs and to the kitchen in nine minutes, he was rather impressed with that record, if they had had Sarada here with them it'd have taken fifteen just to get ready; and that'd be without the quickie of quickies in the shower.
Boruto was being a toddler and in the Terrible Twos when he came down and saw an exhausted Hinata, a happy Naruto and a loud toddler. Thank Kami Sarada had yet to speak or yell, he thought grimly as he walked into the kitchen after his wife.
"Hey, sorry to barge in on you guys," Hinata offered timidly. He shrugged as he made up the coffee.
"What happened to your arm?" Naruto demanded.
"Accident," he replied. It wasn't a complete lie, it had been shortly after his near murder of his daughter that he had decided to get rid of it. It wasn't as if he really needed the arm, it was just sort of convenient to have. And while he had to work a bit harder, be a bit faster, and be a little more focused on his jutsu casting and balance, he knew that he was the best still. Even one arm down, besides, Sakura and Sarada hadn't seemed to mind his lack of a second arm. His wife had never pestered him about it, and Sarada seemed to have a fascination with his… stump.
"What happened?" Naruto pestered Sakura now for the answer he apparently sought.
"An accident, I wasn't there at the time… I was otherwise occupied," Sakura said innocently. He looked to his wife as she took the offered mug of coffee.
"Well, it won't matter, teme I'll still kick your ass!" Naruto declared triumphantly.
"I doubt that," he mused darkly; mostly to rile the blonde up.
"Play nice boys, we like you in one piece," Sakura said as she walked over to coo over Boruto who grabbed his wife's pink tresses with glee. Hinata and Sakura were quietly chatting when he left with the dobe.
"So what have you two been up to?" Naruto asked.
"Missions," he replied. He didn't dare to mention Sarada, not because he was afraid of how his best friend would react; Naruto would be thrilled and demand to see her. But there was the serious possibility of Naruto saying something by accident and the entire village knowing about his daughter and then the council stepping in to take her away from him and Sakura.
Sasuke was terrified, so scared of the mere thought now that he could be struck with paralysis; of losing his family again. Sakura knew this, which was why she had agreed to keep Sarada a secret from the village, even though she had really, really wanted to tell her mother, her father, her friends, her mentor, and Team 7. It was one of their largest fights but she had conceded when he explained the why of it and her temper wasn't ruling her actions. Sasuke knew, just knew from the moment Sakura had recovered and he was holding their daughter and her in his arms, that if he ever lost either of them he'd never survive. The rage he would feel from the loss of them in his life would not even compare to the slaughter of his clan; the rage he had felt from the loss of his clan would look mild in comparison.
Sakura was the center of his world, and Sarada was right with her mother on the importance list.
And that vulnerability scared him.
"How's parenthood?" Sasuke asked Naruto, it had been his second look at the blonde dobe's mini lookalike. It was scary just how similar the dobe and his son looked.
"Exhausting! Kami, I didn't think it would be more exhausting than shinobi training! And that used to drain me," Naruto exclaimed. Sasuke refrained from nodding in agreement. "However, when he laughs, smiles or plays, it makes it all worth it."
"Hn," he replied. He agreed, though his daughter had yet to be vocal in anyway other than crying (which was rare now) and laughter, he had to agree that all the smiles and laughs made it worth it. The rest of the time he felt like he was fumbling along after his daughter and wife as they lead the way of how parenthood was supposed to be. He didn't know how he'd do this if he didn't have Sakura there with him.
"You know what would make Sakura really happy?"
"What?" he asked flatly.
"Having a kid! Women love the babies! And Sakura and you would be kick ass parents!" Naruto jabbed him playfully in the ribs.
Sasuke didn't say anything to this. He was still reeling from the fight he had had with Sakura about having a second child, though he was beginning to think that perhaps she was right. Sarada would be a wonderful sister to whatever sibling she had, and with Sakura as a mother he didn't have to worry all that much about hatred being bred into his children. He didn't think Sarada would know how to hate if it bit her on the butt, she was just such a happy little girl.
"Hn," he shrugged.
"Come on! A baby between you and Sakura will be a knock out," Naruto chuckled. "Boruto is adorable, and will be the most handsome young man when he grows up; according to Hinata but I think we're biases!"
"He looks healthy," Sasuke supplied.
"I know! And he's so strong!"
Sasuke didn't dare to say his daughter was gorgeous, or how strong she was, or how cute she was and she was almost three years old. He didn't dare ruin his secret, though he really wanted bragging rights over his daughter at this moment as Naruto began bragging about Boruto.
"Sparring?" Sasuke asked, mostly to get off the subject before he slipped up.
"Yep! This way, we have to use the old sparing field; the new one is under repairs after Ino and Sai had an argument." Naruto explained.
Sasuke grunted as he walked through the village and ignored the heated glares shot his way. People would probably never trust him or his family ever again. Not that he could blame them, but for the first time since he and Sakura had semi-settled down, he could understand what his wife meant by the hatred. He would not want his daughter near this village with these people and their glares at him; he dreaded to think of how they would treat Sarada for just being a traitor's daughter.
