Hello guys!
Welcome to a new chapter of Shattered Past. Early warning: some of character scenes are short but please do still and have fun reading it. Well, if that's possible with my crap writing.
Anyways, let's head to story.
"Well, would you look at that?" The red-haired scientist commented impressed, grinning at the strange creature curled up inside of the orange-liquid filled cylinder, "Its ready."
Ash's heart dropped like a rock into his stomach at those words, as he could only helplessly stare at what was supposed to create war. The raven-haired boy felt uneasiness creeping up his back when the scientist turned to him with a sickening dark smile, "I must say thank you for helping to make one of the most powerful weapons in the world. Congratulations, now the world will weaken and fall to Team Rainbow Rocket. Isn't that such an accomplishment?"
The man didn't wait for Ash's reply, instead turning to one of the guards standing by the door, pointing his finger at him, "Report to Giovanni, Project Nucleus is complete."
The guard nodded and turned on his heels, running out of the lab. The scientist turned back to the cylinder and layed his hand upon the cold glass, whispering softly, "Soon my creation you will be set free."
As if responding to his words, the creature within moved. The scientist's grin grew when two blood-red glowing eyes stared back at him this time, it seemed like it was finally awake. He stepped away gaze moving to Ash, the child's eyes were wide at what was in front of him.
The trainer's breath hitched as it turned its head to glare at him, at that moment as those emotionless scarlet eyes drilled into him, he knew. He knew this wasn't a Pokemon.
Not even Yveltal could rival the way Death seemed to ooze itself from this creature's abnormal body, it was unnatural the way it radiated from its entire being. It was frightening. Ash swallowed hard, he wouldn't even compare it to being a monster. The word didn't fit, it seemed too mundane. This was more than just a monster.
It was a nightmare.
Ash began praying that Greninja had gotten all his friends to safety.
"Braxien use Fire Blast!" commanded Serena, the Fox Pokemon lept up high in the air preparing the fire type attack towards a grunt, who had his Zubat and Houndour out. Braxien aimed her attack at the flying type, the stick in her hand crackling with flames as she whipped up the attack, "Greninja use Water Water Shuriken!" The Ninja Pokemon dashed from behind the honey-blonde, throwing the water type attack from its back towards the Dark Pokémon.
The two attacks combined together before they clashed with the grunt's Pokémon, knocking them both out. The grunt growled in frustration before returning both fallen Pokémon. He looked towards the trainers in front of him and took a step back, "I gotta warn the boss."
However, before he could turn around Faba threw out Hypno's pokeball, "No you won't! Stop him in his tracks with Confusion!" The ball burst open in a bright light and in front of him materialized the Hypnosis Pokémon its eyes already glowing blue.
"Put me down!" demanded the grunt as his feet left the ground and was suspended mid-air. The blonde-haired man snorted while smugly crossing his arms, "Now why would I do that?"
"Thank you Faba and Serena," began Lusimane but frowned wondering what to do next, "Now where do we go?"
Greninja croaked pointing his webbed finger down one of the hallways, which made most of the trainers blink in confusion at his choice, minus Serena and Meowth.
"Wait, mother doesn't that lead to one of the emergency exits?" asked Lillie, wondering why the Pokémon would be leading them there instead of trying to find Ash. Lusimane nodded, raising an eyebrow at the water and dark type, "Greninja, has Ash already escaped?"
The Pokemon didn't answer, just looking away. He hated lying and being put on the spot like this. Dammit.
"He hasn't, has he?" asked Serena, dreading the answer. Greninja quickly glanced up at her before turning away again, finding the floor's dull architecture very interesting at that moment.
Serena felt her chest tighten, knowing what that meant. The honey-blonde girl loved and hated how self-sacrificing the raven-haired boy was. She had a twisting feeling that Ash had told Greninja to lead them to safety, leaving him to fight Giovanni alone.
The coordinator scowled in irritation, she wasn't having that. She wasn't going to let Ash fight this battle by himself again. No matter how stubborn he or any of his Pokémon acted.
"Greninja, please tell the truth, where is Ash?" asked, almost demanding, Serena her eyes brimming with determination as she stared the Pokemon directly in his eyes, showing that she wasn't going to back down. She was going to help get Ash out of trouble, whether he wanted it or not.
Greninja shifted on his feet, looking towards the corridor before back to Serena with a nervous sweatdrop appearing behind his head. He could face everything Legendary Pokémon out there and any evil organization without fear, not mention he has a strong enough bond with his trainer to accomplish a power that can rival Mega Evolution!
But what he can't do is lie straight at Serena's face.
Greninja could feel Ash pressing lightly at the back of his mind, urging him to get everyone to safety no matter what but what worried him was how urgent and frantic his trainer sounded, making the Pokemon even more reluctant to leave.
"Please Greninja, tell us where is Ash," Serena was begging at this point, pleading desperately, "He can't do this alone. He needs our help. Please, don't let him fight this by himself."
The Pokemon sighed heavily in defeat, finally giving in and agreeing with her even if he knew Ash wasn't going to be very happy that he is about to do this.
But the amphibian-like ninja Pokemon knew that Serena was right. His trainer was going to need all the help he could get, especially with being the disaster magnet he is. Greninja, inwardly, admitted he either thought Ash was very brave or stupid with what he did sometimes. The Pokemon leaned to the former most of the time.
Alright, time to save stupid trainer. How hard can it be?
The Pokemon almost snorted out loud at that train of thought, knowing Ash it was almost going to be impossible. But that didn't mean Greninja was going to give up anytime soon, no matter what.
"Gren," The water and dark type closed his eyes, searching for Ash's presence through his bond. He made sure to be a little extra careful not to alert Ash though, he didn't feel like being scolded by the raven-haired boy about not listening just yet.
Once, Greninja found Ash, he opened his eyes and gestured for the humans and Pokemon to follow him to a different passageway. He couldn't help but take note of the relief that Serena and everyone seemed have at him helping them. What did they expect him to do? Leave his hard-headed idiot trainer behind?
Eh, no. Not happening.
Besides, they needed him to protect them all if they ran into more trouble. And Greninja was going to do that. He was going to protect all of Ash's friends to the end. No. Not his friends. He was going to protect his family. No matter the consequences.
"Come on guys, let's follow him," Serena jerked her head to where Greninja was leading them to, "Let's save Ash."
However, as the large group kept trekking forward through Aether Paradise, little did they know they were being watched by an hidden figure in the shadows. It stared at them for a few more seconds before it disappeared, like a phantom without a trace.
"How did he find us?!" roared Giovanni, pinning the unlikely grunt to the wall in an iron death grip on his throat. He was not pleased to see a video image of the Battle Pyramid heading their way and he knew it was very possible that Lysandre in that damn flying contraption because his two agents, Butch and Cassidy, had reported to him that was where they had found Ash. Which was heading towards them at full speed, showing no intention of slowing down.
Now he was furious.
The Battle Pyramid also meant that Brandon was on there as well, which meant trouble. The man didn't earn the name Pyramid King for anything, the guy was practically worldwide famous and known for being one amount a few of the strongest trainer's in the world that possessed the ability to control Legendary Pokemon in a battle, and that was what was worrying Giovanni the most.
"W-we don't know sir! L-lysandre's tracker shows that he is still located in Kanto!" wheezed the grunt out of breath and his blue eyes wide in fear. Giovanni growled his grip tightening, feeling half tempted to kill the man on the spot, he wasn't in the mood for stupid answers, "Then explain why the Battle Pyramid is coming right at us you idiot before I end you now!"
"I, sir, please! I d-don't know! Please, sir!" Giovanni sneered and pulled his fist high and backwards, having had enough of this pathetic grunt. He was about to push forward when the doors slammed open again and another grunt burst through, "Sir!"
"What?!" snapped Giovanni, his vision blood red as his eyesight caught sight of the person who had just rudely barged in. If this one was bringing more bad news he would swear to Arceus that he would lose it!
The newly-arrived grunt flinched at the tone before straightening his back and saluting his boss, "Sir, I have news to report from the lab." Giovanni regarded him carefully before nodding slowly, his grip sagging slightly on the struggling victim he had pinned on the wall.
The man, inwardly, breathed a sigh of relief before continuing, he didn't want to test Giovanni's patience, "Project Nucleus is complete."
"Are you sure?" Giovanni blinked a few times in surprise as he released who was holding, the grunt falling into a crumpled heap and gasping to catch the so sweet air that his burning lungs craved.
The new grunt nodded his head, "Yes sir."
The leader of Team Rainbow Rocket rose to his full height approaching the new grunt. Giovanni, inwardly, admitted he had honestly expected a few more days before it would be ready, "How?"
"Doctor Reagman reports that trainer's aura abilities had helped advance its progress and its ready to be utilized," replied the grunt, holding his chin high and saluting his superior once again.
The grin that spread on Giovanni's face wasn't human, it was twisted and devilish as he stared at the Battle Pyramid heading their way, his eyes gleaming in a unnatural way, "Well, I am sure he wants to give it a test run before we start with the regions. I know the perfect target."
"How much further is it?" asked Lysandre leaning next to Brandon, watching the dark-haired man carefully as he piloted the flying Pyramid to its destination.
Brandon hummed, checking his compass and looking ahead at the vast ocean that was ahead of them, in the distance he could see Alola slowly coming into view, "We are almost there. I say that we must be getting ready if Ash is really where that tracker is leading us."
Lysandre frowned, "It is. I know it." The Pyramid King gave him a knowing sideways look before his gaze snapped back to the ocean, "If you are sure then I better call Samuel to take the controls. We will be using one of the mini crafts, it will help our movability and we will be less detectable that way. Are the others ready?"
"Yes," answered Lysandre, "Gary, Tasha, Jessie, James, and Lucario are already waiting down in the cargo bay for us. I asked them earlier for them to wait for us there."
Brandon nodded and began pressing a few buttons, "Alright, go on so long. I will meet you there. I just need to check a few things to make sure we are ready."
Lysandre was about to turn around when something caught the corner of his eye, "Wait, what is that?" Brandon looked up in slight annoyance but it was quickly replaced with curiosity. Squinting his eyes, the dark-haired man saw a small speck heading their way, not showing any evidence of slowing down.
Looking downwards at the control panel, he scowled in confusion, "I don't know but whatever that is it isn't showing on the radar." Lysandre's eyes narrowed at that and held his hand out at Brandon, still keeping his gaze on whatever was coming towards them, he couldn't help but feel unsettled, something wasn't right, "Hand me the binoculars."
"Here," Brandon gave the orange-haired man a pair of binoculars. Lysandre quickly peered through them zooming in on the mysterious object. It was difficult to get a view of what it was because of the speed it was going.
Huffing in frustration, the orange-haired man had trouble keeping track of whatever was the blur coming their way. Though he was, inwardly, confused as hell wondering what could be that fast, not even the best Pidgeot could fly at that speed!
'Finally,' thought Lysandre as he eventually got a proper look. Rolling his shoulders backwards, the man began glaring through the lens, 'Now what could you possibly b- oh my...' Suddenly, the orange-haired man froze. His whole body going rigid and a pale that shouldn't even be humanly possible.
"Lysandre? What is wrong?" asked Brandon, worried and bewildered about the other man's sudden change in posture. Lysandre didn't answer just slowly lowering the binoculars his eyes wide with fear.
"Run!"
Lysandre didn't even think, just whirled around on his heels pushed Brandon out of the room, "Now! We all have to leave now!" The dark-haired man stumbled forward but he didn't have time to stop to ask what the on Earth was going on because Lysandre kept pushing him, "Lysandre! What are you doing?!"
"Just run!" snapped Lysandre, using more force to push Brandon forward, "Go!" Not quite sure what else to do, the dark-haired man began running with Lysandre right on his heels.
Suddenly, a deafening roar that could rival the sound of Thunder shook everything around the duo and the Pyramid jolted harshly to the left. They both managed to barely keep their footing, trying to regain their balance but the aircraft when to the right as another loud crack filled the air. The metal under them trembled and buckled, threatening to snap.
"Let's move it! Go!" Brandon didn't even have time to get his bearings right before he pushed forward once again from behind, almost tripping over his feet. Everything was just a blur, it was disorienting but the man ran. From what? He didn't know and wasn't sure he wanted to find out anytime soon.
Behind Brandon, Lysandre gave a final look backwards to see the control room where they were standing mere moments ago swallowed in a blazing inferno.
A terrifying screech rang through his ears, one that didn't sound like anything he had ever heard in his life. Within the raging fire he saw something standing there, it's two red eyes staring directly at him, pinning him under its dark gaze. It all seemed to go in slow motion when it screeched again and the fire suddenly shot forward, consuming everything within its path without mercy.
Lysandre could only stare in horror as the flames suddenly engulfed him and it all went dark.
I love cliffhangers.
