Chapter 27
Sasuke was extremely comfortable that morning, his warm, soft, small wife was curled up against his chest, the morning was quiet, and Sakura was sound asleep. It was a very good morning, at least it was good aside from that boulder against his back. Grumbling a bit, he rolled over a bit.
"Nanani!" a voice grumbled.
He stilled.
Red eyes were open as he sat up and stared at what had been pressed against his back.
"What the hell!?" was all that escaped his lips when he stared down at a bundle hugging a bear, dressed in red, black hair, and sleeping soundly with one of his pillows.
"Mmm," his wife moaned out.
"Sakura," he poked his wife gently then in her ribs, she waved her hand against him as she curled up tighter. "Sakura!" he hissed again, she cracked a sleepy green eye open.
"What?" she grumbled.
"We have a daughter, right?" he demanded sharply.
"Yeah, you did help make her so you should know," she mumbled sleepily as she rolled into him then. He just blinked at the toddler making certain she wasn't some genjutsu on him.
"And she's with Karin, right?" he asked, his eyes had yet to leave the other occupant of his bed. Sakura sighed.
"Yes, why?" Sakura yawned.
"Because I'm looking right at her," he answered.
"WHAT!?" Sakura bolted up and looked around him to the sleeping toddler in their bed.
"Oh good, you two are up," they both looked up to the door, he scowled at Suigetsu. "Karin sent me off with Sarada, Orochimaru showed up."
"SO YOU BROUGHT HER HERE!?" he and Sakura shouted. Black eyes opened up, a smile on her face as she sat up, yawned and hugged him and Sakura.
"Well, where else was I supposed to take her, and you two seemed pretty out of it when Sarada crawled into bed with you two, I just left her," Suigetsu shrugged. He and Sakura looked to one another, then at the grinning toddler and then to each other.
"Hey! Good morning guys!" Naruto's voice shouted.
"Suigetsu, get out of here, go past the front gate; wait for us there or I'll track you down and murder you. Sakura, take Sarada with you into the shower, I'll stall the dobe!" he hissed. Suigetsu bolted out the window, Sakura snatched up the toddler as she ran into the bathroom, slamming the door shut and turning on the shower, he leapt of bed, tangled on the sheets as he looked for a pair of pants.
Shit! Fuck! Damn! Was all he was thinking as he yanked on a pair of discarded sweats and then hissed when he stubbed his toe.
"Sasuke! Sakura! are you awake!?"
"Sasuke!?" Sakura's head poked out of the bathroom.
"Stay in there," he shoved her back into the bathroom as he shut the door then snatched up a discarded shirt as he left the room.
Damn dobe! Damn Suigetsu! Damn this situation!
All Sasuke was concerned about was getting his daughter out of the village before the council found out about her. He did not want to deal with council trying to take her away from him or Sakura; he had bargained with the council just to get his wife to come with him on a mission. One of the conditions with the council was not having children with Sakura out of the village. Apparently the council still feared the Uchiha and wanted to have them under examination. He did not want that for his daughter, and he didn't want Sakura to know about that part of the conditions.
Though he had made it very clear that if the council would want Sarada back in the village if they knew about her; Sakura didn't want Sarada raised in this environment. No one quite yet trust him or his family which was why he didn't want to have her here yet. Until he proved himself he did not want Sarada here, he didn't want her targeted with their hatred; not when he was getting over his own.
"What do you want dobe?" Sasuke demanded when he came down the stairs.
"Good you're up! Is there another person here?"
"No," he lied bluntly. Suigetsu had better be outside of the village, and Sarada was hiding with her mother in the shower at this moment.
"Oh, must be the house then, mass death and all," Naruto said suspiciously.
"Hn," he shrugged as he herded Naruto to the kitchen; the last thing he needed was the nosey dobe going through his house and finding Sarada. It wasn't Naruto who Sasuke didn't trust, it was Naruto's mouth staying shut and the council remaining ignorant that much longer.
"Anyway, there's a meeting in two hours with the Kage to discuss your coming mission," Naruto informed him.
"Time?"
"Nine," Naruto said happily.
"Alright," Sasuke nodded seeing that it was seven in the morning. He could live with that, he didn't want to go to the meeting though, however, this bought him a few hours to figure out why Sarada was here and what to do with her until he and Sakura could collect her for their journey.
"Are you sure there isn't another person here?" Naruto persisted.
"I think I would know if someone else was in my house, dobe," he argued as he let his Sharingan show then to remind the dobe of his sight.
"Oh right, I don't know, it just sort of feel like there's someone else here, the chakra's so little though I could be mistaken," Naruto said. "Or… Sakura could be pregnant!"
Sasuke paled at that thought, however he let Naruto roll with the idea. Better that than for the dobe to know about his daughter and blab it to everyone from here to Suna. There were enemies of his who would do anything to have their hands on his weaknesses and he really only had two; both were upstairs and both were annoying.
"No need to look like that about it! Having a kid is great!" Naruto argued. He said nothing as he started making breakfast.
Sakura's daughter and she were under the warm spray of the shower as her daughter played with her hair.
Having Sarada here was a pleasant surprise, but an unnerving one. She did not want her daughter in this environment, people still did not trust Sasuke or the Uchiha. Yet. She had hopes that this changing one day, but she also realized that it would not be immediate. Just because the war was over didn't mean everything was peaceful yet. Gently Sakura washed her daughter's hair, the suds were thick in her daughter's ebony hair. Rinsing her daughter's hair she hummed to herself and Sarada as she continued in the warm shower. A knock on the door had her poking her head out of the shower as she bounced Sarada on her hip.
"Yes?"
"Sakura, sorry about that," Sasuke walked into the bathroom then and leaned on the door.
"Oh, we're fine," Sakura said just as her daughter giggled. Sakura ducked back into the warm shower as she finished washing them up. Her husband handed her two towels. Wrapping their daughter up she handed Sarada to him and then wrapped herself up.
"What was this about?" she asked.
"Naruto is down stairs eating breakfast, I'll get him out of here in a few minutes, and then you two can eat. We have two hours to figure this mess out!" He informed her as he toweled Sarada dry. The girl was giggling as her father messed up her hair.
"Alright, or we could just go talk to Kakashi about this," Sakura whispered as she wrapped her hair up in another towel.
"We'll figure this out when Naruto is gone," he promised as he pressed his lips to her and then left her with Sarada.
"Sarada, your daddy is being silly, but he's right so we're going to play the quiet game alright sweetie?" she whispered to her daughter.
Sarad snickered as she pressed her finger to her lips and smiled deviously.
"That's mommy's girl, now let's get you dress!" Sakura cheered as she walked into her room with Sarada on her hip and started getting them ready. Once her daughter was dress, her red ribbon and all, she was sitting on the bed playing with her bear as Sakura got dressed in today's clothes, Sasuke walked in then when she was in nothing but her panties.
"Sasuke!" she gasped as she spun around, he fell onto the bed besides Sarada who jumped on him happily. She noticed his red eyes on her and Sarada then, she rolled her eyes as she got dressed in his shirt and her pants.
"So, what's the plan?" she asked as she sat on the bed, Sasuke tickled his daughter who was laughing loudly and hugging her bear tightly.
"We'll take her out of the village and then we'll figure this out," Sasuke said.
"I don't want us to split up just yet either but Sarada's getting older and we're going to have to split up eventually, she will need stability," Sakura regretfully pointed out as she sat with him.
"I know," Sasuke groaned out as he stopped playing with Sarada and stared at her.
"What do you want to do?" he asked her as he reached up, his hand touched her cheek and she tilted her head into the touch.
"I don't know," he admitted.
"Alright, well until this is either too dangerous or the time comes for us to give her stability; we stay together, alright?" she asked.
"Hn," he nodded then.
"Good, until then, I'm taking Sarada back to Suigetsu and I'll pummel him to pieces!" Sakura growled as she picked up their daughter.
"Leave him breathing," was all he said as he let her go off with Sarada, out the window.
Kakashi had been hiding out when he had felt an old chakra and a faint Sharingan come running through the village stupid early in the morning. Curiosity had had the best of him as he had then followed the jutsu straight the Uchiha manor, what he saw though was enough to have him nearly fainting. Suigetsu, he was holding a small toddler with black hair in his arms, he had carried the kid right in.
Kakashi could say he was now very curious about what was going on with Sakura and Sasuke; why was Suigetsu here and who was the kid? He didn't know, but it had led him being here all night watching the Uchiha manor.
It was when Naruto had bardged in that there had been a reaction, Suigetsu all but flew out the window and he had heard the shower. It was about twenty minutes later that he saw Sakura sneaking out of the house with a toddler in her arms. Now that Kakashi could see the resemblance and it froze him, he was staring directly at a mirror of Sakura in her arms; just with the Uchiha coloring. What the hell!?
He knew Sasuke liked secrets but what the hell was the meaning of this!? A child? This was a little too far over the line even for Sasuke and Sakura. However as he followed Sakura he noted the child was two or three years old, more startling was the child appeared to be perfectly healthy and happy as she stared directly at him with wide black eyes.
Now, Kakashi had met smart toddlers; just look at the Nara kid; but this was unnerving, not even Sakura had seen him yet. Sakura landed just outside of the village and then walked into the forest, he followed.
"I know you're there Kakashi," she suddenly claimed. "Come out now. Or do I need to make you?"
"Either I'm getting sloppy, or you're getting better," he said as he revealed himself and stood before Sakura who was holding the toddler tightly to her chest with a look of a protective mom. "Hello Sakura, and who have you got there?"
