Chapter 51

"Doctor, what are you doing?", I ask him horrified when I see him step into the trans-mat about to give the potato heads who've been attempting to turn Earth into a clone world, a chance.

We discovered the Sontarans and that Martha was made a clone, not before nearly suffocating on the cloning gas ourselves.

"I'm sorry Ayla, I have to give them a chance", he tells me sadly, looks at Donna and says, "Please look after her for me", to which Donna nods.

"No Doctor!", I yell out distressed and he presses the button and is trans-matted away to the Sontaran ship.

Luckily Rattigan, the man-child genius took the Doctor's place, and destroyed the Sontarans who attempted to overthrow the Earth. The Doctor fixed the gas problem.

'I knew this was going to happen!', I think, frustrated with myself. 'I knew exactly what was going to happen and when the Doctor trans-matted away, I forgot he was going to come back. I overreacted. But faced with all this crap, it's hard to keep score with the details of all the events that are supposed to take place. I am angry with him too, because he would just leave me here, without him…'

I sat there on the grass fuming, outside Donna's house before we head to the TARDIS. 'I know I'm being selfish because he did the right thing, to save the planet. Technically speaking, I am in my early twenties, looking like a thirteen year old human girl. I could survive again if I have to. But I got used to him again. You know what Ayla, get over yourself. Build a bridge and get over it. This is the Doctor's life and now it's yours. You knew what you were sort of getting yourself into with the foreknowledge', I say, giving myself a pep talk.

"You okay?", the Doctor asks, sitting next to me.

"No...Yes… I don't know. I'm unsure", I reply.

"You know why I had to go, right?", he asks warily.

"I know"

"I had to give them a chance", he says.

"I know alright! Can we drop the subject please?", I plead with him.

He looks like he is ready to argue, but stops himself and nods at me, "Alright, we'll drop it".

He gives me a side hug and after a few moments he says, "Come on, we have to go. I'll get Donna and then once we are in the TARDIS, I want to check you out in the med-bay to make sure you're alright".

I groan…loudly…like hippo at the mention of the med-bay.

"I've seen the inside of the med-bay more times than I can count".

Donna, Martha and I enter the TARDIS along with the Doctor.

"How were they?", Martha asks Donna about her family.

"Oh, same old stuff. They're fine. So, you going to come with us? We're not exactly short of space", Donna replies.

"Oh, I have missed all this, but, you know. I'm good here, back at home. And I'm better for having been away. Besides, someone needs me. Never mind the universe, I've got a great big world of my own now", Martha responds back, when suddenly the TARDIS doors slams shut and starts up, traveling in time.

Everyone is thrown about the TARDIS.

"What? What?", The Doctor asks cofused.

"Doctor, don't you dare!", Martha yells out.

"No, no, no. I didn't touch anything. We're in flight. It's not me", The Doctor replies.

"Where are we going?", Donna asks.

"I don't know. It's out of control!"

"Doctor, just listen to me. You take me home. Take me home right now!", Martha yells out.

I close my eyes and hang on to the railings, feeling dizzy cause of the shaking and whirling of the ship.

"What the hell's it doing?", Donna asks.

"The control's not working", The Doctor responds, looking at his old hand glowing.

"I don't know where we're going, but my old hand's very excited about it", he responds.

"I thought that was just some freaky alien thing. You telling me it's yours?", Donna asks disgusted.

"Well..."

"It got cut off. He grew a new one", Martha responds.

'Why are we having this useless conversation?', I think, feeling nauseous all of a sudden.

"You are completely impossible", Donna breathes out.

"Not impossible. Just a bit unlikely", he replies.

Finally we stopped and the Doctor runs outside and we all follow him.

"Why would the Tardis bring us here, then?", he asks.

"Oh, I love this bit", Martha says.

"I thought you wanted to go home", Donna asks.

"I know, but all the same, it's that feeling you get", Martha responds. 'I understand completely', I think, keeping my thoughts to myself.

"Like you swallowed a hamster?", Donna asks and I laugh.

"Don't move! Stay where you are! Drop your weapons!" a mam commands us.

We're unarmed. Look, no weapons. Never any weapons. We're safe", the doctor responds, pushing me behind him.

"Look at their hands. They're clean"

"All right, process them. Him first", the man says, pointing at the doctor. Two soldiers grab him, taking him to the progenerator.

"Oi, oi. What's wrong with clean hands?", He asks confused.

"What's going on?" Martha asks.

They placed his right hand into the machine.

"Doctor?!", I ask worried.

"Leave him alone!" Donna commands.

"Something tells me this isn't about to check my blood pressure. Argh!", He yells out in pain.

"What are you doing to him?", Donna asks.

"Everyone gets processed", the man responds to Donna's question.

"It's taken a tissue sample. Ow, ow, ow, ow, ow, ow, ow, ow. And extrapolated it. Some kind of accelerator?", he says.

"Are you all right?", Martha asks when he was finally released.

"What on earth? That's just…", he says, staring at the mark on his hand and then at the doors that open, revealing a blonde girl, dressed in fighting gear, 'his true daughter'.

"Arm yourself", the man says, handing her a weapon.

"Where did she come from?", Martha asks.

"From me", he sounds horrified.

"From you?. How? Who is she?", Donna asks.

"Well, she's, well, she's my daughter", the Doctor responds.

"Hello, Dad", She greets the Doctor and I scowl at the ground. 'I shouldn't be jealous, right?'

The man, Cline asked her, "You primed to take orders? Ready to fight?"

"Instant mental download of all strategic and military protocols, sir. Generation five thousand soldier primed and in peak physical health. Oh, I'm ready", she says happily, standing with the other soldiers.

"Did you say daughter?", Donna asks.

"Mmm, technically", he replies.

"Technically how?", Martha asks.

"Progenation. Reproduction from a single organism. Means one parent is biological mother and father. You take a sample of diploid cells, split them into haploids, then recombine them in a different arrangement and grow. Very quickly, apparently"

"Something's coming", my sort-of-sister says.

We all see shadows on the tunnel wall and people start firing at us.

"It's the Hath!", the soldier, Cline says and everyone starts shooting.

"Get down!", Jenny says, and we take cover.

"We have to blow the tunnel. Get the detonator", Cline says.

"I'm not detonating anything". The Doctor says, helping a wounded man.

'Shit!', I think as one of the Hath grabs me along with Martha. 'This was not supposed to happen'.

"Blow the thing! Blow the thing!", Cline commands.

"Ayla! Martha! No. Don't", I hear the Doctor scream as we are dragged away.
