Rosario Vampire Re-Vamped

Chapter eighteen: A magical nightmare

It was free period in Miss Yukari's class over at Azu-Daioh High, a regular public high school in Japan that had received the monster students from Yokai Academy, a high school out in the country that is populated entirely by monsters. Ever since the monster attack on the city that was launched by Hirajo, a goblin who commanded the horde of warmonger-type monsters that had sought the heads of the Shirayuki family, things had been proceeding between the monster and humans worlds in order to facilitate friendly relations between the two.

Things in that field had been going…surprisingly well, actually. The aforementioned attack launched by the late Hirajo helped jumpstart an alliance between the monster world and the various forces in the world of humans, and in recent events the monster student populace that had transferred to Azu-Daioh High due to Yokai Academy having to be evacuated had helped U.A. High School, Japan's top hero academy, in repelling an invading force of rioters that, from what had been gathered, were aiming to kill a U.A. student by the name of Ochaco Uraraka.

Yokai Academy's original goal was to try to encourage its students to live peacefully with the humans, although just prior to the aforementioned evacuation the world of monsters had been keeping itself secluded, isolated, secret. The forced evacuation, as well as the actions of Hirajo forced the secret that was the monster world out in the open, where it became public knowledge to the humans. The monsters had feared that this would lead to massive conflict between their people and the humans.

But to the surprise of many monsters, it turned out that letting humans know about them helped to expedite Yokai Academy's goal, the ultimate goal of the monster world, which was fostering good relations between the monster and human worlds. Then again, the two worlds helped one another in times of conflict on multiple occasions; fighting side-by-side with an ally in combat is a good way to foster good relations between those who are aiding one another in war. Granted, it was not the ideal way the monster world wanted to jumpstart its friendly relations with the world of humans, but it did get the job done.

This all was on the mind of Tsukune Aono, one of the students from Yokai Academy who had transferred to Azu-Daioh High during the aforementioned evacuation. The Aono boy, between the time he first enrolled in Yokai Academy and today as he sat at his desk during the free period in Miss Yukari's class, had gone from being human to a possible human-undead hybrid to a snow fairy. All of that, plus all of the various other experiences the human-turned-snow fairy had gone through as of late, will surprise one when they learn how little time all of that occurred in.

Tsukune was checking some homework for another class when he was approached by Satoshi, Gaku and Ryota, three friends of his from when they all went to middle school. Unlike with Tsukune who went to Yokai Academy, his three friends all went straight to Azu-Daioh High. They ended up meeting him sometime after he had become a snow fairy, when Tsukune's friend Ginei re-started Azu-Daioh High's defunct newspaper club to continue the legacy of the very same club from Yokai Academy.

The Aono boy's three middle school friends were actually in Azu-Daioh High's newspaper club as well, actually, being the only three members of said club that are human; the rest are monsters from Yokai Academy, the friends Tsukune made at that all-monster school prior to it having to evacuate to the human world. The three humans all had mildly worried looks on their faces when they approached their snow fairy friend. Tsukune picked up on the worry right away.

"…What happened this time?" Tsukune asked in a dry tone, arching a wry eyebrow.

"Umm, the girls that are in the newspaper club with us must really like you, dude," Satoshi said, "Because some of them are arguing about why you chose Mizore over the rest of them. I think one of them is even setting up a string theory chart to explain why." The former human let out a knowing, mildly exasperated sigh as he got up from his desk, figuring that it was only a matter of time before at least one of them started coming up with conspiracy theories about why Tsukune chose Mizore over any of the rest of the girls.

Tsukune followed his humans friends over to where the newspaper club girls, along with some of Tsukune's fellow monster guys, were hanging around. Tsukune expected that it would be Kurumu who was setting up the string theory chart, but to his surprise it was actually a joint effort between Moka and Lingling. When the others noticed Tsukune and the newspaper club humans had come over, the girls all turned to regard Tsukune.

"Tsukune, you've got to tell the others that you're actually secretly Mizore's kid from the future who came back in time to ensure that she ends up with the guy she's actually destined for so that you will be born," Moka said, looking a bit frazzled as she looked up from her chart that she had laid out on the desk she stood over. The human-turned-snow fairy was so surprised by what the pink-haired vampire girl had said that he honestly had no idea what to say in response; Tsukune just stood there, his eyes wide with shocked, unsure surprise.

"No, it's obvious that Tsukune was actually made to go with Mizore against his will because the both of them are snow fairies," Lingling pointed out, "It's obvious that the snow fairy race does not want any mutts in their number."

Kurumu gently shook her head before she addressed the rest of the 'war council'. "But Tsukune said that he had decided that he wanted to be with Mizore back when all of us were still over at Yokai Academy, well before he had turned into a snow fairy. There's no way his transformation could have affected a choice he made prior to getting said transformation."

Mizore, who was standing there, had an annoyed, bitter look on her face. "…You girls are all just jealous that he picked me."

The Aono boy let out a resigned, exasperated sigh before he turned his attention to all of the girls in the Azu-Daioh High newspaper club. "Girls, look. The reason why I ultimately decided to go with Mizore is a rather-"

"Our main man Tsukune has a very important reason for his decision, ladies," Ginei said suddenly, cutting his snow fairy friend off and making Tsukune gently face palm out of worry of what was going to happen now. "Now, you girls remember when you all were arguing over your chest sizes because you wanted to see who had the biggest bust in the hopes of using said busts in an effort to charm our good friend Tsukune?"

Tsukune had a look of dry, surprised confusion on his face when Ginei said the part about the girls arguing over their respective…assets, and he looked further surprised when most of the girls (only Yukari and Kokoa did not raise their hands in confirmation) replied in the affirmative to their werewolf club president. "And you all know how I took various measurements, as well as record heights and weights, yes?" All of the girls nodded in the affirmative, and Tsukune had a few questions that he wanted to ask Ginei later.

Gesturing to Mizore, Ginei explained to the girls as a whole, "After gathering all of the data, the boys and I discovered that Mizore here is the third lightest girl in the group, with Kokoa in second and Yukari in first. However, proportionally speaking, Mizore is actually the thinnest girl in the group." Ginei mentioning Mizore being rather light in terms of weight got the attention of a lot of the girls in the newspaper club.

"So…so that means Tsukune likes thin girls," Ruby said, sounding alarmed in a manner that suggested that she may not be entirely appealing.

Holding up a hand to cut off further arguments from the girls, Ginei said, "I'm not done yet. I don't think that Mizore being proportionally the thinnest girl in the club has anything to do with Tsukune picking her." The other girls, as well as the guys (Tsukune especially so because he had no idea what the fuck Ginei was up to but wanted to know) all regarded the werewolf as he went on to gesture to Mizore again.

"…You see, gentlemen and ladies," Ginei began, "Although the snow fairy lady in our number is proportionally the thinnest girl, meaning she doesn't have a lot of weight to her, enough of what weight she does have is concentrated in the right area to give her the biggest butt out of any of the girls in the newspaper club." Turning to point dramatically at Tsukune, Ginei said, "That is why the efforts you ladies had when trying to use your chests to charm Tsukune had failed! He's more of an ass man!"

"What?" Tsukune said, too stunned to properly form the emotion that he wanted to feel because of what Ginei had said in regards.

Snapping her fingers, Kurumu scowled, "Damn it! I wish I had known that before! I would have used my butt over my breasts to try and seduce Tsukune!"

"At least Tsukune didn't make his choice based on who among us was the thinnest," Lingling said, "Although regardless that factor always plays a role in when a guy picks a girl to make into his beloved." The other monster girls all nodded in agreement with what their jiang shi friend had said. As the monster girls were all nodded in agreement, the newspaper club members were approached by the six girls that were familiar with Miss Yukari.

"Yo, what are you girls going on about?" Kagura asked, a look of wondering curiosity on her face as she addressed the girls in the newspaper club.

Everyone turned to face Kagura and her friends, with Kurumu saying, "Oh, we were just discussing how boys prefer thinner girls is all."

"Ah yes, the eternal struggle that all girls face," Tomo remarked in a knowing tone, "Becoming and staying thin. It is a difficult matter, and not all girls out there are lucky enough to find all that much success." Tomo turned to regard Yomi, a sly look on her face as she looked at her glasses-wearing friend. "…Wouldn't you agree, Yomi?"

"I will break you, Tomo," Yomi said dryly, a hint of annoyance in her tone. The way that the glasses-wearing girl snarled suggested that this was not the first time that her patience had been tested by Tomo.

"Umm, why is there a connection between girls being thin and boys liking them?" Osaka asked, "Is it really that big a deal?"

Tomo gave an amused chuckle as she turned to look at Osaka, placing a hand on her shoulder. "Ah Osaka, my simple friend. You really have no idea how important it is for a girl, even more so in this day and age, to be thin. It has a considerable role to play in how pretty a girl is, if not be the key deciding factor in how pretty a girl looks."

Osaka's eyes widened a bit, showing that Tomo's words were getting through to her. The simple-minded girl looked a bit worried, taking a surprised step back. "So…so you're saying that boys won't like me if I'm not thin enough?"

"You know, I fail to see how the idea of a girl needing to be thin is all important to the girl's overall appeal," Haiji remarked, "Hell, when we were at U.A. for the field trip where we got to see a school festival, I saw some tired-looking guy with purple hair make out with a girl who was notably fat, also said girl had cat ears and a cat-like tail."

Tomo waived an indifferent hand in the air. "Well obviously there are some exceptions out there that prove the rule. Other than that, a girl needs to be thin, as it is step one in getting a guy, even more so if it's a guy that the girl in question has the hots for, to like her back." Tomo crossed her arms over her chest, gave a resigned yet knowing sigh. "Such is the way of life that us ladies are forced to live with, I'm afraid."

Some of the girls, mostly the monster girls from the newspaper club, looked troubled in a way that suggested that they felt Tomo's words carried a lot of weight. Some of the girls that were with Tomo, mainly Kagura and (especially) Yomi looked like they wanted to strike their dumb friend. Osaka, however, looked troubled. She looked like she was contemplating a rather serious matter, mulling over a few things in her mind.

After a few moments, Osaka spoke up as she turned her attention back over to her seemingly shallow friend. "Then…then would it be too much of a stretch to say that the thinnest girl at school would be one of the prettiest girls as well, Tomo?"

Pointing to Osaka in a commending manner, Tomo said, "That's a very valid conclusion to draw, Osaka. Now you're starting to get it."

"Osaka, no," Yomi said firmly, "Don't listen to Tomo. She's just going on about the unfair standards of beauty that have been forced on girls over the last few decades by fashion industries and various instances of product marketing. She's feeding you lies because she herself had been fed those very same lies."

"…Heh," Tomo chuckled to herself, "Says the girl who's always on a diet."

Yomi apparently heard that, as she proceeded to turn on Tomo and try to strike her, requiring the rest of the girls and some of the newspaper club members to try to separate the two. Although things had soon settled down well enough, Osaka still had a look in her eyes, a look suggesting that her friend Tomo's words had given her a lot to think about. Also a lot to worry about as, when that class was over, Osaka looked longingly at one of the boys in the newspaper club.

Osaka turned to look away as she left the classroom so she could go to the next class, a look of resigned worry on her face. "Heso I have to be thin if I want him to notice and like me, huh?" Osaka thought as she made her way to the next class, "I wish that there was a way to make him notice me, but I'd have to be the thinnest girl at school to pull that one off, if what Tomo had been saying is true."

Tsukune was sitting down to dinner with his mom Kasumi and cousin Kyoko after classes at Azu-Daioh High were done for the day. As the human-turned-snow fairy went on about the kind of stupidity that he had to deal with that day at school, he was cut off when Kyoko stood up suddenly and rather forcefully from the table. Looking down at her still-sitting cousin, Kyoko pointed an accusing finger at him.

"I knew it!" Kyoko exclaimed, "I knew it this whole time, Tsukune! You like big butts! You cannot lie to me!"

Tsukune, giving his older cousin a dry, mildly exasperated look, said, "Wait, after all that I said about my day at school today, that's the part you decide to focus on? Ginei's theory for why I ended up going out with Mizore?!"

"That does explain why that blue-haired girl that always rubbing her breasts against your arm ultimately failed to get your attention," Kyoko declared, "You prefer more girls that have more cushion for the pushing!"

"Stop it!" Tsukune exclaimed, clearly embarrassed by his older cousin.

It took Kasumi a while to get her son and niece to settle down, and she was soon able to change the subject by going on about how Tsukune's father was stuck at work on another important project for the company. Tsukune was grateful for his mother changing the topic, as he was not sure if he could put up with Kyoko going on about what she thought was the truth for much longer without giving in to the urge to hit her for being so stupid. Seriously, the Aono boy had no idea how a girl who was as dumb as Kyoko could even be related to him in any capacity.

The very idea of it boggles the mind.

Speaking of boggling the mind, when Tsukune woke up the next morning, he was greeted by the sight of all of the other guys in Azu-Daioh High's newspaper club waiting for him in his living room. The boys all looked like they had something to say to the human-turned-snow fairy, so he decided to breech the subject. "I…assume that there is a good reason that all of you are here in my family's living room first thing in the morning?" Tsukune asked.

The other boys all turned to face Tsukune, seeing him coming down the stairs after he had woken up and showered. Right away, Tsukune's human friends all went over to him, looks of alarmed panic on their faces. "Tsukune, bro, dude," Satoshi said, "Something majorly fucked up had just occurred, affecting all of the girls at our school!"

Ginei let out a knowing sigh. "…Not all of the girls at our school, Satoshi. A few of them like Moka, Kokoa and Lingling are unaffected."

Tsukune was alarmed but cautious; the guys were clearly going on about something affecting most of the girls over at Azu-Daioh High. The Aono boy was afraid what might have happened, so it was with much trepidation that he finished coming down the stairs and walk over to all of his friends from school. "…Guys, you're all saying that something has happened to most of the girls at school. What is it?"

Most of the guys looked nervous, as if what they had to say to Tsukune wouldn't be believed by him. It was Draco, the only one not rattled like the others, who stepped forward to tell Tsukune what was going on. "Someone must have gotten ahold of some rather powerful magic," Draco began, a serious look on his face, "Because that's the only way that something of so large a scale could have been done, especially since it had to have been done overnight given that all of the girls at school were unaffected yesterday."

"Draco, what happened to the girls?" Tsukune asked, worried that something extremely terrible had befallen a fair portion of their circle of friends, such as a magical pox that left marring cracks on the girls' faces, or something that made the lot of them violently ill. Draco told Tsukune what had happened exactly, and although it was nowhere near as bad as Tsukune was thinking, it was still something that caught him completely by surprise, leaving him utterly dumbfounded due to how out of left field it came.

"Believe it or not Tsukune, most of the girls at Azu-Daioh High have been magically fattened."

"What."

When Tsukune and the other newspaper club boys got to Azu-Daioh High for classes that day, the former human saw that his draconic friend was talking about; everywhere he looked, the girls that he saw were notably obese; Haiji said they looked comparable to the fat cat girl that he saw when he and the rest of the students from Azu-Daioh High took that field trip to U.A. to check out their school festival. Tsukune figured that magic, ever since he first learned that magic was actually real, would be capable of all sorts of stuff.

…But making most every girl at his school fat? Why would someone even want that? It made no goddamn sense to the Aono boy. Tsukune knew that he and the rest of the newspaper club boys would have to look into this matter, find the culprit that was behind…this. As Tsukune told the other guys that they had to look into what was going on, Ginei led the party into the room that was used for the newspaper club at Azu-Daioh High.

Tsukune was a bit apprehensive to see any of the girls he was friends with affected by the questionable choice in wide-spread curse magic, worried that they would overreact and beg him to not drop them now that they were big. Indeed, Tsukune could not help but be shocked to see that, aside from the vampire sisters and Lingling, every girl in the newspaper club was now had a very plump and well-fed appearance.

Ginei clapped a few times to get the girls' attention, making all of them turn to face him and the other boys. "Okay, ladies! I know that some serious business has just gone down, which is why we need to track down the story behind this, stop whoever is behind this maddening chaos, and get all affected persons back to normal! Then we can write up an article about what had taken place and put it in the next issue of the school paper."

"Why should we bother?" Kurumu cried, resting her now plump face in her hands as she cried out of despair, "I mean, look at us! We're so fat and gross now! No one will listen to us!"

"What I would like to know is why Moka, Kokoa and Lingling are unaffected," Ruby said in a suspicious tone as she crossed plump arms over her enlarged assets, "How come those three got to stay thin while the rest of us were forced to blimp up?"

Moka shrugged in a confused manner. "Ruby, trust me when I say that I honestly have no clue why me, my sister and Fangfang's sister weren't affected like the rest of you."

Kurumu turned to look at her pink-haired friend, a bitter look on her face. "Oh sure, offer no real help why don't you," the succubus remarked bitterly and in an accusing tone, "I bet that you're secretly really happy that you're still hot unlike most of the other girls here at school. Hell, I bet that you're secretly waiting for Tsukune to dump Mizore because she's fat now since there's no way that he'd want to go out with a fat girl when a perfectly willing thin girl is waiting for him!"

Tsukune face-palmed again, remembering the conversation that happened at school yesterday. "Oh for the love of Gilgamesh, not this crap again," the human-turned-snow fairy muttered to himself in an exasperated tone. Tsukune faced all of the girls in the club room, giving them all a serious look. "Listen, girls. All of that crap that one girl was going on about is lies fed to us by the fashion industry and product marketing because they want to enforce their ideal of a standard of beauty, which is not a universal standard everyone agrees with."

"Are you certain about that, Tsukune?" a worried-sounding Yukari asked, "I mean, that Tomo girl made a lot of good points. I guess that's part of why she and her friend Osaka are both unaffected by what had happened." The young witch girl looked down at her now considerable belly, ashamed that she had become such a little piggy.

Tsukune and the other guys perked up a bit out of interest when Yukari told them about Tomo and Osaka. "Wait, wait, wait," Gaku said, "You're telling us that two of those idiots that follows the dumb Yukari are also unaffected by all of this shiznits that's going on right now?"

Yukari looked a bit confused as she turned to address Gaku. "What do you mean by 'the dumb Yukari', Gaku?"

"Both you and our homeroom teacher are named Yukari," Ryota explained, "But our teacher ain't the sharpest lightbulb in the crayon box, so she's the dumb Yukari, whereas you are-"

"The fat Yukari." The young witch girl sounded ashamed, disgusted with herself.

Ryota gathered his focus, trying to make sure he got his point across carefully. "…I was going to say the smart Yukari." Ryota face-palmed as he muttered to himself something about the girls being ridiculous because of some random chaos that was going around, a chaos that clearly was not the fault of any of them.

Tsukune walked to stand in front of the other guys, getting their attention before he started with what he was going to say. "It's clear that some manner of bizarre magic is behind the girls here, as well as all of the other affected girls around the school, having gotten as big as they are. We need to get to the bottom of things here, and I think that the first persons that we ought to look into are those Tomo and Osaka girls."

Fangfang arched a wry eyebrow as he regarded his snow fairy friend, a curious look on his face. "What makes you think a pair of human girls might have anything to do with the rest of the girls here at school becoming so fat so quickly?"

Jerking a thumb over his shoulder to point out their friend Yukari, Tsukune explained, "From what Yukari here said, those Tomo and Osaka girls are unaffected. They may have some manner of connection to what all is going on right now."

"Hmm…yeah, that does sound like a good place to start," Fangfang agreed, following Tsukune and the rest of the newspaper club boys out of the club room, leaving the newspaper club girls to their own devices. The girls all watched as the boys had left, with many of the affected girls all looking worried as they watched Tsukune depart. Mizore, who was at least as big as Kurumu, looked to be particularly worried about what her boyfriend will do in the immediate future.

The newspaper club boys ended up finding Tomo and Osaka over at the in-school daycare that the members of the babysitter club work in to look after the toddlers of various members of the school staff. Sure enough, Tomo and Osaka both stuck out like sore thumbs, given that their four friends were all rather large. Even Chiyo-chan, the one who is roughly Yukari's age, looked to be three-hundred pounds easy, putting her over all of the newspaper club boys aside from Draco in his true form.

It was to the relief of the newspaper club boys that neither of the two little girls cared for by the babysitter club was affected; both toddler Kirin and baby Midori were both just the same as always. Tsukune also mentioned that he had yet to see any female members of the school staff affected by what was going on, so it stood to reason only the female students of the school were the targets of whatever crazy nonsense magic was going on.

Yomi, who very clearly looked annoyed to have been fattened as much as she was seemingly overnight, gave a mildly exasperated sigh as she talked to the newspaper club boys while they were investigating what was going on. "Last night I went to bed looking as I always did. Then I woke up, saw how I looked, ran to look at myself in a mirror, and promptly screamed." Yomi gently shook her head in a manner to show that she was lost on what to do. "I have no idea how this could have happened, but let me be the first to say that I would never want this."

"Yeah, being really chubby like this totally kills my athletic ability," Kagura remarked, "I mean, the sooner I get my body back to my preferred build, the better."

Chiyo turned her attention to look up at Kagura. "I sort of expected that you wouldn't like how this sudden gain would negatively impact your ability to perform in sports, Kagura. But you don't sound anywhere near as upset as I was expecting."

Giving an indifferent shrug, Kagura remarked, "To be completely honest, the only reason this surprise weight gain pisses me off so much is because of how it'll negatively impact my athletic skill. If I wasn't into sports at all or otherwise had no interest in being an athlete, then I couldn't have cared less that I became a total fatass." Turning to regard the newspaper club boys, Kagura remarked, "That being said, if you guys figure out what happened and are able to do so, then do so, because I still want to be Azu-Daioh High's star student at sporting events. I can't win any medals with all of this extra weight weighing me down."

The newspaper club guys all nodded in understanding, with Haiji remarking, "You know, you're taking this school-wide curse, because what's going on definitely has to be the workings of a curse, rather well Kagura. The girls in the newspaper club that are affected are all having major freak outs because of how big they've gotten. I'm certain that some of them are thinking that our bud Tsukune here thinks they're unattractive now."

"Well you got to figure that there are standards of beauty for a reason, you know," Tomo remarked, sounding just a smidge smug.

Tsukune, with a curious look that had a hint of suspicion in it, turned to face Tomo. "You know, the guys and I came here to see you and your friend Osaka because we heard that the both of you weren't affected, unlike most of the other girls at school here."

"Most of the other girls at school here?" Osaka asked, "I thought that Tomo and I were the only ones that weren't affected by what's happening."

"Ja, there are others unaffected by this curse magic that's going around," Draco confirmed, "Three girls in the newspaper club, Moka, Kokoa and Lingling, are all unaffected."

Tomo gave an amused chuckle as she addressed the boys, Tsukune in particular. "So I guess that means there are only three appealing girls left in your club now."

Tsukune covered his face with his hands, rubbing the top of his forehead with the ends of his fingers in a sign that showed he was starting to lose his patience with Tomo. "You do realize that it's talk like that which is making the affected girls in the newspaper club have meltdowns due to thinking I'm going to reject them. Seriously, not everything the fashion industry and product marketing should be taken as some form of gospel."

"That's what I've been saying this whole time!" Yomi nearly exclaimed as she gestured to Tsukune, "Thank goodness someone agrees with me!"

"No problem," the human-turned-snow fairy replied. Turning to regard Tomo and Osaka, Tsukune said, "Now then, do either of you two have any idea of how this whole mess started, any thoughts at all?"

Tomo briskly shook her head in the negative. Osaka likewise gave a negative answer, but she was a bit more worried than her energetic friend. The newspaper club boys proceeded to ask the girls that were actually members of the babysitter club (Tomo and Osaka weren't club members, they were just visiting the club to see their friends), but neither Yomi nor Kagura nor Chiyo had any ideas that might help.

Tsukune then proceeded to ask for Sakaki, the last girl who was a member of the babysitter club. Yomi, with a bit of a gently amused smile on her face, pointed to where Sakaki was sitting; she was sitting in an armchair in the club room, gently looking down at Karin and Midori, both of whom were fast asleep in her arms. The boys were all laying on the floor near the armchair that Sakaki sat in. "Yeah, the kids that we look after here were a bit hesitant around Sakaki before, kind of like they were kind of intimidated by her," Yomi said, "Then we all enter the club room after the four of us were hit by this apparent curse magic that had been going around, and now none of the kids act like Sakaki is scary."

The boys thought it was cute how the toddlers and baby Midori are apparently all now clamoring for Sakaki's attention. Haiji was especially touched, as he knows that the tall quiet girl had a thing for looking after cute little ones. He also knew that Sakaki had difficulty in this field due to her tall, quiet person being something of a deterrent to the cute persons that she was wanting to befriend, and the Crow Tengu found his heart in pain for the struggles that Sakaki found herself in, finding himself sympathizing with her.

But now all of the little kids are no longer frightened of the tall quiet girl. And as he saw how Sakaki was gently smiling as she held Karin and Midori, as the four toddler boys were all laying on the floor near her, Haiji found himself happy that Sakaki, who only wanted the cute little ones to not be afraid of her, had at last lost what had apparently made her come off as intimidating to the toddlers that the babysitter club looks after.

"I…think it's best that you boys wait until later to ask Sakaki any questions," Yomi remarked, "Even though she'll give you the same answers that the other girls and I had just given to you."

"Fair enough," Ginei replied as he turned around to take his leave, gesturing for the boys to all follow him. Satoshi was the last of the newspaper club boys to leave the room, closing the door behind him as he shot Tomo a playful wink, which Tomo returned with a flirty tongue click as she pointed both of her index fingers at Satoshi.

"Well that was a bust," Ginei complained as he and all of the boys made their way back to the newspaper club room.

"Yeah, we failed to get any answers to what's going on right now," Draco remarked, "Although I did catch the smell of something that was off to me."

Turning his head to regard Draco, Ginei said, "Uhh, Draco, dude, we were at the babysitter club room just now. Chances are that you caught the smell of one of the toddlers or maybe the baby soiling themselves."

The dragon gently shook his head in the negative. "No, it was not the smell of a little one having had an accident. The four girls in the babysitter club and their two friends are all human, right?" After Ginei and some of the other newspaper club boys nodded in the affirmative, Draco went on, "Well, from what I was able to catch with my nose, one of them didn't smell like she was a human. I couldn't figure out which one since five of them were hanging close to one another, and the one who was in the armchair definitely smelled human to me."

"One of the girls who's familiar with Miss Yukari…" Tsukune began, a slight but notable hint of suspicious surprise in his tone, "…Isn't a human like the rest of them?"

Draco nodded a few times in the affirmative. "We can safely eliminate the one that the little ones are no longer intimidated by, but as for the five that were close to one another when we came by to ask some questions, I could very easily tell that one of them is actually a monster that's using the Monster Glamour skill to pass for a human. This might be worth looking into, after we finish investigating the curse magic that's going around of course."

The other guys all nodded in agreement with their draconic friend as they continued to make their way back to the newspaper club room, intent on finding the cause to the curse magic that was going around and making most of the girls at Azu-Daioh High live large.

That day after school, Tsukune was at his family's home having dinner. Tsukune's father was still helping with a project at Shirayuki offices, so once again it was just Tsukune, Kasumi and Kyoko at the table. "Yeah, I had heard about that on the news earlier this morning, sweetie," Kasumi remarked to her son as they and Kyoko ate dinner, "A lot of girls at your school look like lady sumo wrestlers now, with all of them having gotten like that overnight without anyone having any idea how it happened."

Tsukune nodded in the affirmative as he swallowed some of his drink. "The guys and I have reason to suspect that it's some form of curse magic, although why a select few girls at school are not affected is something that we may want to look into as well."

"Maybe something those girls all have in common is a factor that made them immune to the curse magic that's going around art your school and affecting the other girls?" Kasumi guessed, drawing an agreeing nod out of her formerly human son. As the Aonos had dinner, there was a knock at the front door, which Kyoko was quick to get up from the table and answer, dashing right over with a hint of excitement that something was occurring during dinner.

After opening the door and seeing who it was, Kyoko turned back to look towards the direction of the dining room and yelled, "Hey, Tsukune! A girl who looked like a super-inflated version of your girlfriend is here to see you!"

A bit annoyed by his older cousin's lack of tact, Tsukune got up from the table and walked out to the front door. Sure enough, Mizore was standing there, looking visibly upset as a confused Kyoko was trying to ask her what was wrong. Tsukune made his older cousin back off a bit and gestured for Mizore to come inside. After having closed the door behind Mizore, Tsukune turned around to face her.

"Mizore, you clearly came here to see me and you clearly look upset," Tsukune said, "Now, what's the matter?"

The well-fed snow fairy girl looked down at the floor, poking the ends of her index fingers together. It was clear that Mizore was nervous, was scared, of what might occur now that she had gotten rather large. "I…I was wondering why you haven't…haven't dumped me."

Face-palming with his left hand, Tsukune muttered to himself, "Oh, not this again." Speaking out loud, Tsukune asked while gesturing to Mizore, "What makes you think that I want to-"

"Just look at me!" Mizore said, cutting Tsukune off as she held her arms out at length, allowing them to shake a bit with how plump they were. The well-fed snow fairy girl clearly sounded upset, like she might start crying. "Seriously, what about me is attractive?" Mizore cried, tears begging to run down the sides of her face, "I'm a gross, fat cow! There's no reason for someone who's handsome like you to even bother with me!"

Sighing in a mildly exasperated tone, Tsukune remarked, "Mizore, you do realize that you and most of the other girls at school having gotten really fat overnight is due to some curse magic that's going around, right? When we find the source, we're going to fix what happened and get everyone affected back to normal."

"But what if it's something that can't be fixed?" Mizore asked, "What if I'm stuck like this?"

"Well for starters, those affected can work to lose the weight," Tsukune pointed out, "There are numerous work out gyms in the city, and I'm certain that the two of us can find one that we can work out at together, as well as get the other girls who are affected to work out at." Tsukune proceeded to walk around Mizore as she stood still, able to tell that she was being sized up by the hotness that was the human-turned-snow fairy.

After he was done looking at Mizore, Tsukune said, "…If you're willing to, and if I can clear it with my mom, I'd like for you to stay so I can discuss something with you alone."

"So you are going to dump her and find a girlfriend that's cute," Kyoko remarked flatly.

"Shut your mouth, Kyoko!" Tsukune hissed at his older cousin. Turning to face Mizore, the Aono boy said, "Disregard what my older cousin just said. She often has no idea what she talks about, so most of what she says comes out as utter nonsense."

Mizore was still unsure about what was going to happen, and despite what Tsukune told her about disregarding Kyoko, the well-fed snow fairy girl was still worried that her boyfriend was going to dump her so he could get a thinner girlfriend. Still, there was something reassuring about the air that Tsukune was giving off, something that gave her a bit of hope. Because of that, Mizore agreed to stay after Tsukune got the okay from his mom to let her stay. Kasumi even offered to set Mizore a place at the table so she could eat with them, which Mizore ended up accepting as she did not want to be rude to Tsukune's mom.

The next day at Azu-Daioh High, Miss Yukari's homeroom class was having a free period while Miss Yukari was having a conversation/argument outside of the classroom with Miss Kurosawa, the physical education teacher. The newspaper club girls that were affected, aside from Mizore who hadn't shown up yet, were all looking at the unaffected girls, among who both Moka and Lingling were clearly gussied up, as if they both expected to meet with a guy that they liked. And by 'guy that they liked', I mean Tsukune.

"Uhh, you two do realize that Tsukune is still with Mizore, don't you?" Ruby asked.

"Well yeah, we know that," Lingling replied, "But it's only a matter of time until he sees that there are prettier girls who are waiting and willing. We're basically waiting until Tsukune is in the mood for a change, which naturally should be soon as there is very little chance that he will want to-" Lingling was cut off when she and the other newspaper club girls all heard the door to the classroom open, letting in some of the conversation/argument between Miss Yukari and Miss Kurosawa. Mizore, who looked surprisingly happy, walked into the classroom, closing the door behind her to shut out that the two teachers outside were talking/arguing about.

The well-fed snow fairy girl made her way over to where the rest of the newspaper club girls were hanging around, sitting down with them. Seeing the satisfied look on Mizore's face, the others knew that something was up. "Alright Blimp-o," Kurumu began in a suspicious tone, "What has you so happy?"

"First off, aren't' you the pot calling the kettle black, Kurumu," Mizore replied dryly. Changing her tone, Mizore continued, "Second off, it turns out that Tsukune has no interest in dumping me at all." Mizore's statement drew surprised looks out of all of the girls. Nodding to confirm what she said, Mizore went one, "Yes, Tsukune actually doesn't mind that I'm fat. He's not going to dump me now, nor will he do so if he and the guys find out that what happened can't be reversed to turn everyone affected back to normal."

"He…" Moka began, sounding like she had just lost her chance at something, "…He doesn't mind how you look now."

Confirming that the boy that all of the newspaper girls are clamoring for still likes her, Mizore said, "He still likes me just as he did before the curse magic that's going around made me blimp up." Blushing a little bit, Mizore added, "Also, last night when I went to see Tsukune over at his place, he showed me that some of what Ginei had previously said actually has some validity. I would go into detail, but Yukari and Kokoa are present."

The other newspaper club girls all looked at Mizore with varying looks; both Yukari and Kokoa looked like they had no idea what Mizore was talking about, Moka and Lingling both looked at her like she stole something from them, and Kurumu and Ruby both looked at Mizore with looks of total disbelief, with a dash of jealousy added. All the while, Mizore continued to blush in a way that suggested that she was remembering a very wonderful night that she had with Tsukune.

During lunch period that day, the newspaper club boys were hanging out on the roof of the school, eating their lunch there. "…So yeah, I have to admit it, Ginei," Tsukune said, "What you had previously said about one of my reasons for picking Mizore over all of the other might really be valid, now that I think about it." The werewolf gave an amused laugh as he held up a can of cola in a toast to Tsukune.

"But we can talk about that stuff later," Tsukune said, "For now, we need to come up with a new game plan to investigate the curse magic that's going around."

"We may have to use a scanning spell on some of the affected girls in order to learn the true nature of the curse magic that's affecting them," Haiji remarked, "We'd get clearer results if we used the scanning magic on human girls, although if none volunteer then we can make do with the girls that are in the newspaper club with us." As the boys agreed with going in the direction that Haiji was suggesting, they heard a door to the roof of the school open.

Looking over, the newspaper club boys saw Osaka walk through the door. She closed the door behind her, then walked up to where the newspaper club boys were sitting down. Specifically, Osaka approached Draco. "Umm, excuse me, Draco," Osaka began her tone and the way that she poked her index fingers against one another making it clear she was nervous, "But I got to tell you something really important."

The dragon looked up at the human girl that had apparently sought him out specifically. "Okay, go on ahead and tell me," Draco replied.

"Well, I, umm, err…" Osaka said, going off kilter a few times out of nervousness. Suddenly, Osaka quickly bowed her head apologetically to Draco. "I'm really, really sorry, Draco! It's all my fault!" Osaka exclaimed as she had her head bowed to the dragon, "I had no idea it would even happen like this!"

"What…exactly is your fault now?" Draco asked, sounding more confused than anything.

Raising her head so she could look at Draco, Osaka said, "If you'll meet me after school, I can take you to my place and show you what I mean." The boys were all curious as to what Osaka had in mind, with at least two of the boys suspecting that Osaka may be behind the curse magic that was going around. Tsukune, who was among those suspicious of Osaka, encouraged his draconic friend to accept the invitation.

Draco turned to look up at Osaka (he was sitting, she was standing) and said that since they and the rest of their homeroom all happen to have the same last period, they could just leave after school together. Osaka agreed to the idea, then timidly left the school roof, leaving the boys in the newspaper club alone.

After school had let out for that day, Osaka was a bit surprised to see that all of the newspaper club boys were coming along to her place. She then had a hint of panic in her eyes when Tsukune explained to her that he and at least some of the other boys suspected that she may have had something to do with the curse magic that was going around, what with how she was sorry and that she said she didn't expect things to turn out the way that they did.

Osaka calmed down and, realizing that she wasn't going to get out of this, agreed to have all the boys follow her to her place. Surprisingly enough, Osaka lived in the same neighborhood as Tsukune, with her family's house having the same general build as the Aono household. Osaka showed the newspaper club boys inside, and the first thing that any of them noticed was the tan-skinned woman sitting on the sofa in the living room.

She looked to be a young adult, wearing a midriff-exposing rich purple sleeveless vest with gold trim, a pair of shimmering golden pants with puffy legs, a pair of simple shoes that were a light leathery brown color and were really pointy at the toe ends, and there was one gold band around each of her wrists. Seeing Osaka arrive with all of the boys, the mystery woman got up and gave Osaka a thumbs up.

"Wow, way to go, Osaka!" the woman said, clearly being in Osaka's corner in one form or another, "The first wish that you made clearly worked if you got eight boyfriends!"

"Umm, Zafina, they aren't my boyfriends," Osaka said in a guilty tone, "Also, the wish that I made had some really bad unintended side effects…"

"Wait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute, hold up here," Ginei said, calling for everyone to be quiet. Turning to look at the mystery woman who was identified as Zafina, Ginei said, "Are you a genie?"

Zafina, chuckling a bit nervously, nodded a few times in the affirmative. Osaka had a rather embarrassed look on her face, as if something that she had wanted to keep hidden was now being uncovered. Turning to look at Osaka, Ginei said while gesturing to Zafina, "How did you even meet a literal genie?"

"Well, a few days ago after school," Osaka began, poking her index fingers against one another in a show of nervousness, "I was walking home while thinking about what Tomo had said that day, about how guys were only interested in thin girls. I was thinking about how to go about going on a diet to slim myself down when I got distracted by an antique shop that I ended up going into. While there, I found a pretty brass teapot with a spout that I thought the boy that I have a crush on would like as a gift, so I bought it."

Tsukune rubbed his face with his right hand, giving off a mildly exasperated doing so. "Hoo boy, I do not like the sound of where this one is going…"

"When I got the teapot home, I saw that it was dirty on one of the sides, so I tried rubbing the smudge off," Osaka went on, "When I did, Zafina here popped out from the spout."

Zafina nod to confirm that Osaka's story thus far was true. "Yeah, my girl Osaka here got me out of a tight spot by bringing me out of my lamp. You see, I'm still a trainee genie, meaning that I need to grant wishes to a few masters in order to work my way up the genie hierarchy. Hoo boy, my genie superior is not going to like how long I was stuck in my lamp up until Osaka here got it at that antique store."

To the newspaper club boys, Osaka said, "Zafina told me that she has the magical power to grant wishes, and that as I was the one who got her lamp, she could grant me three wishes before the lamp would magic itself away. She also explained that there were four kinds of wishes that I could not ask her for."

"Number one, Osaka can't wish for someone to fall in love," Zafina said as she began to list off the rules, "Not with her or anyone else. Number two, she can't wish anyone back to life, as that is a different magic altogether. Number three, she can't wish for anyone to die. And the final number is that she can't wish to free me. I know that in the modern popular culture using a genie wish to free a genie had been explored before, and for the far older and more experiences genies it can be done. But like I said, I'm still a trainee genie, so that's on my list of restrictions."

Gesturing to Osaka, Tsukune asked, "You said that you already used one of your wishes, right? What exactly did you wish for?" The hint of suspicion in the human-turned-snow fairy's tone made it clear that he had some idea in mind to what Osaka had wished for.

Osaka gulped a bit nervously, looking away and to the floor. "Well, what I really want is for the boy that I have a crush on at school to like me back, but that goes against one of Zafina's rules. Then I remembered what Tomo said about how guys are only interested in dating girls that are thin. Seeing the clear way to work around the restriction Zafina had on making other people fall in love with me, I made a wish to be the thinnest girl at school."

"Yeah, that's what she wished for," Zafina remarked, "And I was able to grant it. She should be the thinnest girl attending Azu-Daioh High right now."

"Well no shit sherlock," Satoshi said to the wish-granting genie, "That's because most of the other girls at school are now super fat!"

Zafina, with a surprised look on her face, took a step back out of shock. "Are you for real?" Zafina exclaimed, "I was just trying to magically slim Osaka down a little bit! You mean to tell me I accidentally made most of the girls at Osaka's school really fat instead?!"

This time, Tsukune rubbed his face with both of his hands. "Oh for the love of…" Removing his hands from his face, Tsukune asked, "I don't suppose that there's a way to fix the damage that Osaka's first wish had caused unintentionally, is there?"

Nodding briskly in the affirmative, Zafina said, "Yes, Osaka has two wishes left, so she can use one to undo the first one she made." Looking a bit nervous as she poked the ends of her index fingers together, Zafina added, "But given how badly I butchered a wish that I was aiming to just magically slim Osaka a little bit, I think I may have to contact my superior and tell her what I did while I was working under my first master."

Zafina's superior in the genie hierarchy, Winona, who looked like a mid-forties Caucasian secretary woman, first scolded the trainee genie for butchering the first wish she had granted as terribly as she did. Secondly, Winona went about undoing the effects of the wish that Zafina had granted to Osaka. Thirdly, Winona told Osaka that, although she still had two wishes from Zafina left, she had to try to make them easy ones as Zafina was a trainee genie. Having a feeling that she may have to bail Zafina out of trouble in the future, Winona gave her a magical gemstone that's more or less a cell phone for genies, telling her to contact her if more trouble came up. Winona then disappeared.

Knowing that she had to keep her remaining two wishes to Zafina simple, Osaka ended up using them on simple wishes that Zafina was able to grant without messing up; the newspaper club boys had no idea what Osaka's other two wishes were. After the two remaining wishes had been used up, Zafina was sucked back into her lamp, and then the lamp magicked itself off to who can say where. When Zafina's lamp was gone, Osaka turned to face the newspaper club boys.

"I honestly wasn't trying to cause trouble for so many people at school," Osaka said, "I just wanted to be thin because Tomo said that boys are only interested in thing girls so I thought that if I was thin enough then Draco would take notice of me and-"

"Wait, wait, wait," Tsukune said, "Hold up." Giving Osaka a dumbfounded look of surprise, the human-turned-snow fairy said, "Did you just basically confess that you're in love with Draco?" The other newspaper club guys all looked surprised, Draco especially so.

With an embarrassed look on her face, Osaka said, "…Yes. He's the boy at our school that I fell in love with." Turning to look at Draco, Osaka said, "I honestly wasn't trying to cause you or your friends any trouble. I was only trying to make myself look more appealing to you, hoping that you take interest and ask me out." Osaka proceeded to shudder a bit as tears of regret fell down the sides of her face.

Draco, with a sympathetic look on his face, walked up to Osaka, laid a hand on her shoulder. "I understand that you were not acting with any intent to do any harm to anyone. All that you were doing was following some admittedly bad advice from a friend to try to grab my attention in a romantic sense. Also, what damage that was wrought by your actions, though said damage was unintentional on all parts, had been undone, so there's no lasting damage. You need not be upset as you are right now, Osaka."

The other newspaper club boys watched as their draconic friend comforted and reassured their female classmate that had confessed to him. It was kind of weird, seeing a human girl fall in love with a dragon boy. Ginei remarked that such a pairing had way more potential than any human plus vampire or human plus werewolf love story. After the newspaper boys saw Osaka off, they took for home, figuring that the girls that were affected were all jumping for joy now that the wish magic that had affected them (it was wish magic, not curse magic unlike what it had been previously thought to be) had been undone.

Also, only the newspaper club boys knew the truth, and had agreed to keep it to themselves for Osaka's sake; they came up with the story that a jealous old witch was behind the 'curse' that made so many of Azu-Daioh High's female students so fat, and that destroying her had undone the 'curse' that affected them. With all account settled, the newspaper club boys figured that it was as good of a place as any to call it a day.

END, CHAPTER EIGHTEEN

Author's notes;

Yeah, I've seen a number of 'weight gain' stories before, and wanted to give the concept my own unique spin (I like taking concepts and giving them my own spin), but without any of the (blatantly) lewd elements that I saw in said stories; I wanted to try something that was comparatively innocent, while also decrying how marketing is forcing unfair standards of beauty onto everyone as a whole. The plot of this chapter also helps with some set up for the plot of the next chapter, as it will be addressing a point that, if you had paid attention to this chapter, you would have seen pop up. Also, this is the longest chapter for this story yet. Yay.

See you all later.
