All my days are spent
All my cards are dealt
Oh the desolation grows
Every inch revealed
As my heart is pierced
Oh my soul is now exposed

Fort Atlantic "Let Your Heart Hold Fast"

The world was falling apart around him.

That wasn't how he expected his retirement to be. Not that he was really retired anymore. There was no way he could walk away with what was going on now. He was responsible for the men and women who were serving under him.

And whoever was lucky to actually make it to Ragnor.

Giving the reports that had come in, he was holding out much hope. However, he hoped there were a few that had been lucky like they had. Though he was thinking that he was starting to run out of luck himself.

He hadn't believed his ears when Tighe had told him Lee was still alive. If he was honest, part of him still didn't believe it. So much had happen in such a short time. He had lost so many people. They all had.

He couldn't quite allow himself to believe Lee was alive because he wasn't sure if he could handle even the thought of losing his son again. Somehow, it was easier to just not acknowledge Tighe's words.

As he approached his quarters though, the door open, Bill Adama knew that was no longer possible. There, in front of him, was his son. He hadn't lost Lee.

Not yet at least.

There was still a chance that none of them would see another twenty-four hours. For now though, Lee was here in front of him. He had a chance to let his son know that despite all the problems between them, despite the fact that they didn't see eye to eye on many things, that he did love him. That he had and always would love him.

It had taken the events of today to make him realize that he had never really expressed that unconditional love of a father to his sons.

He realized now that he had to do that before it was too late because tomorrow was not promised.
