With you, I fall
It's like I'm leaving all my past and silhouettes up on the wall
With you, I'm a beautiful mess
It's like we're standing hand and hand with all our fears up on the edge
So stop time right here in the moonlight
'Cause I don't ever wanna close my eyes

We The Kings - Sad Song

It was late. The dim lighting of the bio-dome on Cloud Nine simulated that. It also allowed for the stars to be seen through the dome above them.

The late hour also meant there were few people in the bio-dome. Given the nature of their relationship, Lee felt that was a good thing. It wasn't that he was ashamed of what they had. Quite the opposite. If they weren't both serving in the military, on the same ship, Lee would have proudly walked hand in hand with Cally anywhere.

However, both those things were true. He also couldn't ignore the fact that he was an officer and she was enlisted personnel. He was also an officer that a lot of people looked toward for their cues.

Yes, his father knew about his relationship with Cally. The Old Man wasn't thrilled about it, but he agreed that it was unusual circumstances. After all, Lee shouldn't even be serving under his father. However, his father had asked that they used discretion.

Which was why they were on Cloud Nine, at midnight, sitting it the dark. Here they could enjoy being with each other without worrying about who might be watching.

And so, Lee sat with his back against a tee trunk, with Cally leaning back against him. He wrapped his arms around her and rested his chin on the top of her head. He could catch a whiff of the machines she worked around all day. Maybe not the most romantic smell but it was who she was. Lee wouldn't change it for anything.

"I don't know why it took me so long to see how beautiful a person you are both inside and out."

"Because I'm just a mechanic and you're a pilot," Cally supplied, a teasing tone in her voice.

"We couldn't do what we do without people like you keeping our planes flying."

Cally smiled even as she said, "I remember when I first knew I was falling for you."

"When I first landed on Galactica," Lee teased.

"Don't flatter yourself. You're not that impressive," Cally teased back. "Seriously though, it was onboard the Astral Queen, when you grabbed that gun and shot Mason. You became my White Knight that day. Falling for you after that was easy."

"White Knight, huh," Lee said, lifting his head. "I guess that makes you my princess," he added, leaning forward to place a kiss on Cally's cheek.

"I can live with that," Cally said, shifting in Lee's arms so that she could tilt her head up for a proper kiss.
