Chapter Text

As the titan began to tremble, Sasuke steadied his footing and started running towards Sakura. They reached out for each other, but as their fingertips kissed, she began to vanish. Worry spread across Sakura's face as she noticed her own hand disappearing. "Sakura!" Sasuke said. It looked like she was about to speak, but then, before his eyes, she was gone.

The sound of sickening laughter drew Sasuke's attention over his shoulder. Kaiba was transparent, coughing up blood, and hitting the side of his Duel Disk. He smirked, blood trickilng down his face as he mocked Sasuke from over Kenshin's shoulder. "If only you hit my heart," he said. Blood spilled out of his mouth. "My cards didn't disappear because I lost consciousness, it was because I activated this," he said, holding up a card in his shaking hand. It read: Last Turn.

He vanished.

Kaiba and Sakura appeared inside a pitch-black void. There seemed to be nothing else, no up or down—only black and the two people. They stared each other down. He was looking much worse than her, holding his left arm tight against his chest. Her body was bruised, but he looked about to fall over from lack of blood. Furthermore, he was still shaking and sweating.

"You're not looking so good," Sakura said. She stood tall. This wasn't the most honorable of situations, but then again, she had never seen a giant mech before.

Kaiba laughed weakly. He raised his shaking right hand to his Duel Disk and activated a card. "Before Last Turn resolved, I also activated this: Emergency Provisions," he said. "By discarding the now useless Shadow Spell, I'll close this wound." He held up the Shadow Spell card and then placed it into his graveyard. A glow surrounded him. "It's not over yet." He straightened himself out and held up one more card. "My final play: a gift from the second-best duelist, whom you killed!" He held his final card high.

Thunder clouds formed in the void. Rolling clashes of rumbling broke the silence. Then sparks lit the air and lightning strikes started. "Slifer the Executive Producer!" Kaiba commanded, "Thunder Force!" Yellow sparks started gathering in the dragon's mouth. The stream of sparking electricity struck where Sakura stood. She was swallowed by the yellow light. Another burst erupted from Slifer's mouth.

"Ahhahah!" Kaiba laughed. "Clones won't work on Slifer: it will automatically attack any summons!" He continued to laugh. When the light dissipated, there stood Sasuke's Susano'o. "Nani?!"

"You have your schemes, and so do I," Sasuke said. He narrowed his eyes. "After I struck you, I cast a genjutsu on you then used this," he said, pointing to his Rinnegan eye, "to switch places with her."

"Tsk," Kaiba let out, gritting his teeth. "You ninja and your tricks," he muttered. He placed a hand over his deck. The void started to segment, and they moved past, in, and out of each other.

Sasuke raised a brow.

"I forfeited the duel, thus destroying Last Turn," Kaiba explained. "I don't really understand how it works, either, but normally you wouldn't have been able to do what you did based on the rules of the card I played," he said, shuffling his deck. "I didn't think I could even forfeit this kind of game, but it seems the gods agree that you pulled some haxy bullshit."

"Hmph," Sasuke let out. Then he narrowed his brows and smiled. "That's why you lose: this isn't a game."

Any ounce of anything other than annoyance left Kaiba's face. "If you wish for no rules, then I'll just throw all this down," he said, shifting through his deck and gathering cards.

"Like I'll let you," Sasuke said. He canceled the Susano'o. Amaterasu, he thought, and then that cool Sharingan sound effect happened and intensity lines were drawn towards his eye. Then he made the signs to summon a giant hawk. Jumping onto its back, the blue sky started to materialize into existence all around them. Kaiba hovered in the air, despite his mech suit looking too damaged to do so. Another misdirection, Sasuke thought. He had believed Kaiba needed the suit to fly, but Goku must have taught him a thing or two after all.

Sasuke glanced all around, gathering information on where everyone was. Sakura and Kenshin must have destroyed the mech while he and Kaiba were under the effects of Last Turn. The dragon was laying down on its stomach across the landscape below. Smoke was streaming out from different parts of its body. It looked to be the area of a town. He vaguely sensed Sakura and Kenshin, but he couldn't pinpoint their whereabouts.

Kaiba began flying off, but the black flames were right behind him. Sasuke covered his pure Sharingan eye with one hand, and threw the other forward. Control, Sasuke thought, increasing the speed of the flames. Kaiba activated a card then disappeared into a void. Sasuke, atop his hawk, its wings beating, waited for any sign of Kaiba. He could sense that Kaiba was still nearby, even if he was in a different dimension. Instead of following him into his dimension, whatever that may be, he waited. Kaiba began to flicker back into existence, along with three Blue-Eyes, Slifer, and Obelisk. The black flames of Amaterasu were consuming one of the Blue-Eyes. Why would he use one of those as a shield if he had so many other options?

To answer Sasuke's question, Kaiba slapped down a card. "Polymerization," he commanded, and the three Blue-Eyes started warping into one another. "Ultimate Dragon!" he yelled, "Neutron Blast!"

This blast was far stronger than the one from a single Blue-Eyes. Sasuke activated his Rinnegan and switched places with Obelisk the Tormentor. He threw a kunai into Slifer. He had aimed for its head, but the creature was so large (larger than a skyscraper) that the slightest movement threw his mark far off. It dug into its neck, about 3/4ths up its body. Kaiba flipped over another "Interdimensional Matter Transporter" and Obelisk disappeared before the Neutron Blast destroyed it. "Thunder Force!" he commanded.

Sasuke activated his Rinnegan and switched places with the kunai. Amaterasu, he thought, lighting the dragon on fire, then jumping off onto the back of his hawk. He flew towards Kaiba as Slifer burned away in agony.

"Tsk," Kaiba let out, glaring. Slifer shattered, and Sasuke leapt towards the duelist. "Shadow Spell!" The chains materialized around Sasuke and wrapped him up. "Ahahahah!"

"Chidori," Sasuke said. Kaiba turned to see Sasuke on a hawk. Sparks shot from his stiffened, outstretched hand as he flew into Kaiba's chest. Kaiba's eyes went wide as blood poured out of his mouth.

What was that first one? A different type of illusion? Hah, Yugi, looks like this is as far as I go. We'll be dueling again soon, old friend.
