Chapter 58
The couple had very generously taken them to the airport, the woman had even given her her long coat as Kara was being stared at by everyone they passed, the blonde thanked her, hoping that she understood, they had even spoken to the airport staff and with a little bit of a translator, they confirmed that she was Supergirl and that the Americans were coming to retrieve her
They had taken her to a private room that she could only imagine was reserved for high class people, the English speaking translator had offed her any beverages or food she wanted, but Kara didn't feel like eating, all she wanted to do was sleep, the woman seemed to sense this and the next thing Kara knew, she had been brought a blanket along with a jug of water and a selection of snacks
She thank the lady, with tears in her eyes, the woman patted her shoulder, informing that the American jet was scheduled to land within 10 hours and if she needed anything to just ask for her by name
Kara passed out as soon as her head hit the arm of the sofa she was lying on, but it was anything but peaceful, she dreamt of the past two weeks, it felt like it had been so much longer, like an entire other life
She woke with a start several times, her hands trembled a little, she picked at the food, but didn't have much of an appetite which was really odd for her, she gave up on sleeping and instead took to looking out of the window at the sunrise that had peaked over the horizon, waiting for her sister.
"Madam"
A gentle hand was on Kara's shoulder, she had fallen asleep again against the cool glass, she blinked into the sunlight, she turned to see the translator standing there with a kind smile on her face
"The American DEO plane is just coming in to land" she pointed outside of the window
Kara followed her gaze to see the sleek black jet, touching down on the runway, the blonde jumped to her feet, her head dizzying slightly
"Follow me Madam"
It took everything in Kara's power not to race across the hanger to where Alex was standing next to the refuelling jet, to the rest of the world they were just colleagues, both members of the DEO, she tried to keep her face composed, but as she neared her sister the tears had breached her lashes
Alex did a much better job, she nodded to Kara
"Get on the plane, I will be there shortly" she whispered
The blonde did as she was told, thanking the Swedish staff one last time, before climbing the steps and ducking inside, she collapsed onto one of the leather seats, her tears flowing freely now that she was alone, she tried to steady her breathing but all of the emotions flooding her were overwhelming
Alex stepped back onto the plane and pressed the button to seal the door, only when it had sealed did she show her true feelings, she rushed forwards and threw her arms around Kara, hugging her tightly
"Where the hell have you been Kara?" she asked
But Kara couldn't speak, she just balled her eyes out on her sister's shoulder, Alex didn't force her to, knowing that she just needed time to reacclimatise before being bombarded with questions about where she had been and what she had done,
Kara was not looking forwards to that, she would have to relive it all, talk about Morgana, how would she explain all that?
"Lena?" Kara gasped, sitting up and looking her sister in the eyes "Is she okay? Is she safe?"
Alex frowned a little "Of course she is, been going out of her mind since you vanished" she gave her a small smile "I told her that you had made contact, I had almost had to subdue her to keep her off the plane"
This made Kara laugh slightly, Lena was very protective when it came to Kara, even though she was bulletproof
"I told her I she should wait for Kara Danvers" Alex gave her a look "I know you want to see one another but we need to figure out if you are effected for a short period or…"
She trailed off no wanting to think about the other option until she absolutely had to
"Where were you Kara?" Alex asked softly after a long silence between the two of them
"Far away" she answered quietly "A whole other world away"
Alex watched her sister closely, knowing the look that plagued her blue eyes
"You lost someone there"
Kara swallowed back more tears, ignoring the lump in her throat
"I'm sorry Kara" Alex whispered, cuddling her younger sister again "You're home now"
"Yer" Kara croaked "Yer I am"
Alex didn't push her with any more questions about where she had been while they were in the air, she was more concerned with getting Kara's strength back, luckily they had installed a sunbed on the jet years ago and so the blonde laid underneath them, drifting in and out of consciousness, her sister watching over her
She didn't feel any different when they landed, she was still weakened by something, they moved from the plane straight into a truck in a private hanger on a military base a couple of hours out of National City, they didn't need any unwanted attention,
Kara was a little more wake now, her eyes dry, there was nothing left to cry out, though a growing hollowness was forming in her chest, the closer they got to National city, the closer it was that she would have to tell them everything, she would need to tell Lena everything, she would not keep any secrets from her, never again
