XLI.

Lucy tried to calm down. Really she did but it was taking every ounce of focus she had currently not to accidently call Vander or Freed to her side at the moment since they were both in Stella with a recovery team. She might be a little jealous she hadn't been included on any of the recovery teams sent out 3 days ago but like hell if she'd accidentally sabotage the entire mission putting more lives than she care'd to think about at risk because she couldn't control herself.

She understood how the teams were setup so it didn't matter that Lucy could kick just as much ass as many of the other mages that were included. There was a certain synergy built around the teams and her inexperience working with anyone outside of Freed would have made her more of a liability than asset. She may not like it but their logic wasn't flawed and that wasn't what had her blood boiling right now.

The honor of that went to what she'd just read. Alone it didn't mean much, even less if you had a basic understanding of the situation. Unless you combined this journal with some of the knowledge Lucy had taken the liberty of liberating from Hestor's memories about the Sister's of Ammit he'd learned in his youth, then, well… Together they became such condemning evidence into what was essentially the active genocide of two different classes of mages, Archangels and Celestial Summoners. As Lucy had recently learned, both magics had genetic components involved for a mage to effectively use them. It was only 800 years after the last Archangel was seen that Zen was born and as far as Lucy could tell her family line was one of 2, maybe 3, left that can summon celestial spirits safely. It was all Lucy could do not to vomit.

When Loki had voiced his distaste for the 5 sisters she'd been wary of them because, honestly, the spirit loved almost every female she knew so for him to not like them was a big deal. This realization went beyond anything she could imagine. Why the Sister's of Ammit were even still allowed keys when Cassiopeia's was destroyed never to be born again for only making the suggestion as a potential way of boosting the Archangel ranks was beyond Lucy. It probably had something to do with Celestial Kingdom politics or that it was more of a punishment to them this way but that wasn't acceptable to Lucy.

They still had too much freedom, too much influence over their keyholders, for a "punishment" like this to stand. In that, Lucy found the appropriate rage to focus to calm all other emotions and plan.

Too long the sisters' interference has gone unchecked, their lies perpetuated and guarded as if they were sacred truths. Hell, they hadn't even been ordered to find a way to free the Archangel mages from celestial magic's influence.

No more.

If it meant seeking out the prickly bastard and making peace, this was worth it.

Lucy grabbed the book she'd just set down and made her way straight for Hestor relieved that the man had been given orders keeping him bound to help look after White Sea until Kaleb returned with the others.
