Megan's POV

Sitting with Caroline during her pitty party was getting excruciatingly boring. The silence between you two was also alarming but you knew that insane brain of hers was going a million miles a minute. The amount of hair spray she used was wafting into your nose, only intensified your headache. And of course Leo was no where to be found and no one else was answering their phones. And you were just stuck. Knowing damn well there would be hell to pay if you tried to leave now.

Your sister knocking her heel into the metal bar holding up the table as she did the leg shaking thing she had done since you guys were younger. Especially when she was upset or knew she had done something wrong. You caught a glance of Matt a table down from you guys. And that was more then enough for her to launch herself out of her chair and march over to him. On a mission to say whatever it was she had been thinking over this whole time.

"Look I said something stupid. I'm sorry. But I wasn't even talking about you," Caroline apologized and then contradicted it. Like always. Matt didn't even look up at her and just continued clearing away disgusting dishes that some horrible family left all about. Wiping up the ketchup with the rag that was hanging off the bin he was filling with dishes.

"Yes you were Caroline. He could easily be me. We're just alike," he continued as he moved through the tables carefully stacking all the dishes. He looked up at her once but didn't even look her in the eyes before he focused back on what he was doing.

"That's not true. Are you seriously mad about this?" God enough with the soap opera just apologize, mean it. And move on. Matt just looked up like he wanted to say something but Caroline opened her mouth again before he could.

"Matt you know me. Ok, I say stupid things without thinking. And then I have to apologize and take it back. I'm a terrible awful person but I'm working on it," she assured and you knew she was really hoping that was enough.

"Look can we just not do this right now?" Seems poor Matt had, had about enough of the drama for one night.

"Ok. When do you get off?" Matt set the tub of dishes down on the table completely turning himself and finally looking up at her.

"Look this thing we've got. It's nice. And it feels really good, and I know you wanna take the next step," seemed this whole issue could be solved if they both just stopped assuming.

"How do you know that? Did you even ask me?" Car defended. Which to be fair wasn't untrue.

"I'm- im not over elena. I mean I don't know if I am. But if we go there then it could mess things up and we might lose this. And this is the only good thing I've got going for me right now. So if it doesn't work, I'll just disappoint you and hurt you and I don't want to do that," you knew this wasn't gonna end well and you felt a slight pang of annoyance knowing you were gonna have to clean up this mess. Megan forbes cleaning up everyone's messes as always.

"Well but problem Matt because you took the next step all by yourself, and you played the whole thing out in your head and you decided to bail before even giving it a shot. So this really great thing we have don't worry about losing it, cause it's already gone," the gulp of coffee you had just taken caught in your throat at Caroline's harsh words. She turned and headed back to you sitting in the chair that was pointed towards the door so she wouldn't have to stare at him all night till you guys went home.

"I'm going home," she finally said pushing out of the chair and walking out before you even got the chance to say anything. Leaving you once again, alone.

Kaylees POV

After everything you needed to get out of there. The awkwardness and tension growing so thick it was hard to breathe. But Kyle easily found you probably sensing your distress.

"Let me take you home," he wrapped a protective arm around your waist just in time because you felt like you were gonna faint. And he helped you walk outside the cold air in your lungs instantly making you feel better. But he still helped you get into your car and drove you home.

The car ride was silent. You didn't need words. He knew you just needed the quiet. And he pulled into your driveway all the lights in your house off, it was pretty late. "Come on love. Let me take you inside and make you something to eat," he appeared next to you opening your door and offering you a hand down.

He kept your hand in his as you quietly walking into your house into your kitchen. You flicked the lights on and sat at one of the island seats. He laid your car keys on the cool countertop before raiding your fridge and finding the fixings for some turkey sandwiches. Everyone knew they were your favorite.

You were still quiet not really knowing what to say. "You doing ok?" He finally asked not looking up from what he was doing.

"Is it weird if I say yes?" You folded your arms against the counter and laid your head on top of them.

"Is it true?" He countered placing something back in the fridge. "Idk I feel like I should be more upset. Or scared or something but I feel kind of exhilarated," you thought to yourself examining every bit of the counter with your eyes. "It's the adrenaline, it's a very strong drug for wolves. As blood lust is for vampires," he picked up a plate and put it in front of you. Now seeing it your stomach instantly growled and you realized how hungry you really were. "You'll crash soon enough."

He took a seat next to you letting you get at least a few bites in but you could tell there was something he really wanted to say to you.

"I need to tell you something. And I'm not sure how you're gonna feel about it," he blurted out. You scrunched you're eyebrows together and you swallowed the bite you had just been chewing.

"What?" You looked at him concerned you had come to learn that now a days when people said that to you. It was never a good thing.

"I told Stefan that I would help him and Damon get into that Tomb. To get katherine back," you body instantly tensed with anger at her name. "But it's a lie," he quickly calmed you before you went crazy wolf on him. "At least on me and Stefan's side. We are letting him believe that he can trust us."

"Well then why would you be worried about telling me?" You were even more confused but the anger lifted and your muscles relaxed a litle.

"Because he can be very persuasive. And you two had this relationship that I will never understand. You two hold power over each other, especially getting your memories back and rebonding. I just didn't want you to get hurt in the mix of everything," he took his hands and covered yours with them. The heat of his skin against yours made you crack a smile.

"That doesn't mean I trust him. It's gonna take a lot more time to even get anywhere with him. Or to forget who damon is now and everything he's done," you assured not only him but yourself. He did have power over you. your fist love always does.

"I don't want to be his enemy kaylee. But I can't let him do it," and you just shook your head realizing how hard this must be on him as well. "Then don't. and I'll help you. Whatever it takes," his eyes lightened and you realized that was all he really needed to hear you say. He cracked a small smile bringing out the dimple in his left cheek, he had grown so much into his looks and into himself in general. "Okay?"

"Okay," he smiled and you felt his heartbeat slow as yours did as well. "Come on, I'm exhausted," you yawned into your hand slipping off the stool and pulling him up. You grabbed your phone and keys before you both headed upstairs.

"Won't your parents mind?" Kyle asked quietly as you closed your door behind him.

"Please, they're to caught up in their own lives to even notice me," you brushed off pulling off all the clothes from today some of them streaked with blood which made your stomach roll, realizing that you were starting to crash.

You pulled off all of your clothes realizing you were now just in your bra and undies in front of him. This realization making your cheeks burn red with embarrassment. "You're cute when you're shy," he laughed before handing you a big t shirt from your dresser which you excepted and quickly put on. He crawled into your bed yanking the covers over him, "come here," he sat up just enough to grab you pulling you into bed and close to him. Your head resting comfortably in the crook of his neck. Letting you both drift off into a comfortable peaceful sleep that you knew you both needed.

You awoke suddenly unsure of what time it was but the sun was up so at least to wasn't an ungodly hour. You blinked a couple times trying to full wake your brain and figure out what even woke you up in the first place. You looked down and Kyle had placed his arm over you holding you down in place. There was no way you could move or leave without waking him.

"Hmm," he groaned squeezing you and kissing the space behind your ear. "Good morning," you felt good today. Better then you had in awhile. Kyle said it was like that the day of the full moon. At least you got a semi good day before your body forces you to shift into a wolf. "I could get use to this," he hummed sleepily in your ear pulling you closer to him if that was possible.

"Rise and shine sleepy heads," your breath caught in your throat, you didn't even need to look who it was. You knew who that voice belongs too. "Damon please," you pulled your blanket covering the rest of your body since you discarded the shirt in the middle of the night it left you mostly naked in front of him. "Damon please Jesus Christ," you muttered irritated but sat up anyways.

"Oh stop being smutty," he gave you a wild look which made your cheeks burn. "Seriously get out of here," Kyle barked irritated. But this did nothing to Damon, "look if I see something I haven't seen before I'll throw a dollar at it. Now listen we have some very important business to discuss," he turned fully to you guys now gripping part of your blanket. "And it has to be right now?" This was the last thing you wanted to deal with.

"Well we have lots to do now that we're all friends and working towards a common goal," you moved to look at Kyle almost laughing when he was giving you the same look. Damon jumped off your bed, "so in order to open the tomb, we need to find the journal to get the grimorie to undo the spells. First things first since you are Kaylee Lockwood. You're in journal duty. For yours and your families. And for those pesky little Gilbert journals as well," he smiled. You felt your kind so easily giving into him. "Since when am I helping? In case you forgot what day it was I have more pressing matters to deal with today. We both do," you kept your tone as level as you could.

"Well Kyle and Stefan are helping me. And since Kyle happens to now be in your bed. Ergo," he was still looking you in the eyes and you were starting to get that jelly feeling in your legs so you looked down. Kyle placed his hand over yours, "look you don't have to do anything you don't want too," he assured you and you knew he wouldn't let Damon force you too. Not that he could anymore.

"I'll look for it today. But if I can't find it before the sun goes down you're shit out of the luck till at least tomorrow," you grumbled pulling the blanket over your head wanting nothing more then to just fall back asleep.

"How do we even know one of the journals will even hold the location for the grimorie?" Kyle countered to Damon. It was interesting now seeing them interact they were like wild animals circling each other waiting for the other to snap. "You're just gonna trust that idiot vampire. He kinda seemed like a dumbass," you chuckled under the blanket at the thought of killing him again but you kept that part to yourself. Neither of them I guess thought it was funny because they just ignored you.

"In lieu of any other options?" You snapped up throwing the blanket off your face. "What exactly is a grimorie anyways?" You were more so looking to see how much he already knew. Gauging how serious he was taking this.

"It's a witches cookbook," Damon shrugged folding his arms over his chests and just for a moment his shirtless flashed in your mind making you slightly nip the corner of your lip.

"Every spell a witch casts is unique onto itself. So every witch would document their work," Kyle explained to you in more detail since he had a mom who was witch. Was he half witch then?

"Uh huh. Cookbook, " Damon agreed and you could tell he was running out of patience.

"What about our mystery vampire? Dimwit obviously wasn't working alone. So whoever's out there knows who we are," Kyle just kinda shrugged it off but knowing this kind of terrified you. You had people who needed you. Needed you to protect them. But you could tell damon felt the same way, "and I don't like that disadvantage so," he clapped his hands together "chop chop." He was on his way out when he stopped just before your door, "ya know I really like this whole ménage is threesome thing. It's got a bit of a kink to it," he smirked and impulsively you took your bottom lip into your mouth biting it softly. He laughed walking backwards through your door, "dont screw it up," he called over his back.

"Damon last time I checked there's 4 of us so please work on your counting skills," you threw back groaning again that he had interrupted your sleep like an asshole. Kyle pushed off the bed and into your bathroom quickly turning the shower on. And you fell into a quiet sleep needing some sort of peace. Walking up to the bitching and demanding Damon wasn't what you wanted.

Flashback...

you had been bringing the salvatores some of your mothers cookies. Not that cookies could help with their moms illness. She looked more weak everytime you saw her and it broke your heart. You went into the house not even bothering to knock since you knew their father was drunk in his study. So you briskly headed up the stairs going first into Damon's room. His door was quiet so it was always easier to sneak up on him. But you halted dropping the basket of cookies, most of them spilling out of the basket and crumbling on the floor. There was a girl in Damon's room. Her eyes were completely black as were the veins under her eyes. She had two long fang like teeth. And she was almost hissing at damon? But Damon seemed so mesmerizing. Your heart broke seeing this but you couldn't help not really being surprised anymore. So you just tried to catch your breath blinking the tears from your eyes before turning and running out of the room and out Of the house. "Hi Emily," you sniffled seeing her walk up the stairs and into the room you had just come out of me.

"Excuse me ms. Katherine miss pearl is here to see you."

"I'll be down soon please ask her to wait. Thank you Emily. Hmm. Fund over."

"Hmmm. No," they both laughed. "Was that Kaylee? Shouldn't you go talk to her? It won't be good for any of us if that little wolf goes and blabs her mouth to the whole town now will it?"

"She won't. I'll talk to her."

You were paralyzed in the small powder room under their stairs when katherine came walking down.

"It's good to see you pearl," her loud steps made you cringe every time.

"Perhaps we could talk outside," pearl suggested her voice was like velvet. "Emily would you please tell mr Salvatore that I've stepped away?" She asked acting so kind when you just wanted to rip her apart. "Which one?" She countered. And you could tell this made Katherine think for a moment, "both."

You listened even longer pushing your hearing as they went outside. "How long are you planning to stay with the salvatores? People talk katherine. You carrying on with both brothers doesn't help the situation." The vision of her eyes and her face kept flashing in her mind. You had heard stories since you were tiny of blood sucking demons that came out at night. Was she one of them? We're their more? How can she walk in the day? "The Salvatores have been kind enough to take me in. As far as everyone here knows I'm a poor orphaned girl from Atlanta, lost her family in the fires," she giggled. "A match you lit no doubt," and Katherine just kept giggling which was leaning more towards being a psychopath rather then cute. "Honey please be careful!" The lady shouted making you wonder if pearl had a child? Leading you to more questions. Could vampires procreate? "Honorary fell came by the apothecary yesterday with a case of this elixir. She asked that it he sold at a reduced rate."

"I don't follow."

"Try it." She must have taken whatever it was because silence fel between them for awhile. Until katherine hissed in pain, "what in hell?"

"Vervain."

"Why is there- they know."

"They're trying time find us, and they're getting crafty about it."

"The townspeople ingesting vervain? Well that's inconvenient."

"It might be time for us to move on again."

"No. I like it here. I'm not interested in leaving just yet."

"Can we go mama?" Another voice not one you recognized. "Is something wrong?"

You woke up gasping. God you were getting so tired of the flashbacks all the time. It was enough. You just wanted one good nights sleep. Just one.

Irritated you threw the blankets off of you and walked straight into your closet running your fingers through your hair trying to just pull some of the tangled out. You stripped down throwing on some gray joggers with a dark olive oversized sweater and pulled on some socks before walking out. "Well don't you look happy," Kyle chuckled as you plopped back down on the bed. Your head was pounding, the dreams were just getting more and more intense. So much so that now it was starting to effect you physically. "These dreams are killing me. They're getting more intense and more vivid. It's making it impossible to actually sleep," you groaned tugging your sweater sleeves over your hands. "I can see if my mom can help with that. There's not much to go on for your situation. With vampires and werewolves there's so much folklore. So much information within the different packs or clans. My mom has reached out to even our distant relatives trying to get some sort of idea for what to do or how to even help. But we can go over there later. I think she'll be home all day," you weren't sure how to respond and he knew that. So you just nodded resting your head on your hands and staring at your floor. It was hard to even zone out anymore cause your eyes would just magnified every tiny detail of what you were looking at.

"Do you think Damon actually believes us? That were both trying to help him?" You glanced over at him you were still half asleep it made your vision slightly hazy. "Ya know I haven't really talked or known that family. But from what I know of them they don't trust each other. But I think they have many wants that out weigh the hate and distrust between them. Living forever is a long fucking time. Especially with your family. It's an enternity of bad blood. But to answer your question, I don't think Damon knows what to believe. Trust isn't something I imagine comes naturally to him." He shrugged still holding the towel that was wrapped around his hips as he sat next to you. The fact that he was pretty much naked right next to you became extremely hard to ignore now. You let out a soft scoff trying to form wat to say next instead of focusing on the him being naked and hit next to you. "Ya know I think Damon really believes that everything that he's done and every move he's made, he's done for love. It's twisted and kinda sad but I think that's all anyone hopes for in this life. To find someone that despite all the time that may pass that they still chose you. Would do anything for you," since you had broken the curse there was no way for you to keep anything inside anymore. Whatever little filter you had was long gone. And everything just come spilling out all the time. And you knew how uncomfortable talking about Damon made him. "I don't disagree but there are other ways to get what you want. You don't have to kill people and play all these mind games. Damon has no regard for human life. He enjoys inflicting pain on others. I haven't known him for 145 plus like you and his siblings have. But I can assume that whatever was so bad that happened between them is bad enough that anytime anyone let their guard down around him Damon will always do something to make people regret it. I mean even you, you let him in and forgive him for so much. And he just hurts you," the protectiveness in his voice made you smile but it was hard to ignore how much you missed him. How much he understood your pain and you understood his. Your demons danced with his perfectly. He was nice to you. He was right?

"So what do you think will happen if the tomb gets opened and Damon gets Katherine back?" Even saying that made you want to throw up. "Honestly I think that no matter what any one of the salvatores promises, that a lot of people are going to die," he was so truthful sometimes that it really just knocked the wind out of you. You shook away that the thought that no matter what happened refusing to let Damon get Katherine or letting him people were gonna die. "I assumed that Stefan recruited Elena so I texted her to get the things we asked for. So I'm assuming she can handle it. Maybe," you shrugged. "Wait didn't you and Jeremy let our history teacher see them?" Kyle realized and your heart dropped ric was a good guy. You would have to get those journals back.

Rics POV

With school being out hours ago the building was quiet and all the students were long gone. You decided to pull out the journal Jeremy had let you borrow.

"I met Barnett and Giuseppe tonight, I saw the skepticism in their eyes when I showed them the compass. And we,re suppose to believe that this can track one of them? Giuseppe asked. What is it magic? It's science you defended. I'll believe it when I see it Giuseppe brushed off. I've been thinking about this church idea. And I think it could work. One of giuseppes younger boys brushed into the room sorrybfather I didn't realize you had quests he became embarrassed quickly. It's fine we will be done in a minute, son. He nodded forgive me mr Gilbert and Lockwood he half bowed before shutting the door once more. Have you told them you asked the moment you couldn't hear his footsteps anymore. Not yet giuseppe folded his arms over his chest. But we need all the men we can get this couldnquickly turn into a bloodbath. I'll tell them he insisted. You three didn't have to like each other to work together. You had a common goal to finally rid mystic falls of the bloodsuckers once and for all. You can count on both of my boys he assured both of you." Reading his sloppy handwriting was near impossible and it took you quite a bit of time to even just read a few paragraphs. And you knew Jeremy and Kaylee weren't going to let you keep these forever. You pushed yourself away from your desk standing and walking across the hall into the teachers lounge where there was a photo copier and scanned all the pages. So even when you gave the journals back you still had the information you needed. You folded the copied pages into an old scarf and shined it in the back of your locker before slamming it shut and walking back to your classroom. You through the pile of journals back on your desk trying to ease the anxiety in your belly. It felt like every nerve in your body was on high alert. You took out some papers you needed to look over for your next class when a slight breeze almost whoosh like sound made you look up. "Hello?" You whispered into the darkness. You stood back up walking out into the hall "hello?" You said again more loudly trying to project confidence even if it wasn't how you really felt. "Someone there?" You we're watching everything in the halls looking for any sign of movement or anything. The whoosh sound came again from behind your back. And you weren't an idiot you had enough of your wife's research to know what this meant. You quickly blinded back to your locker grabbing a bag of some of your weapons you chose the shotgun had modified to now shoot wooden stakes rather then bullets. You slowly crept back to your classroom keeping your movements small and quiet. You turned in knowing someone was in there and right now it was a very much shoot now ask later situation. But as soon as the stake left your gun Stefan Salvatore had a hold of it staring back at you with dark eyes. You quickly yanked another stake out trying to reload the gun in as little time as possible. Turning back towards the door but he was already behind you "you shouldn't have done that," he hissed grabbing a fist full of your shirt and throwing you back into the classroom. Your body easily moving the desks out of your way. But it didn't make it hurt any less. You quickly got to your feet ignoring the sharp pains through out your body. "Have a seat," Stefan instructed and at this point your weapon was behind him and you had nothing left to defend yourself with. He motioned to a desk behind you again and this time you gave in and sat down. He turned sharply grabbing your weapon with such precision that no human could ever accomplish. "What is this compressed air?" He asked examining it. "Did you make it yourself? Who are you?" But you said nothing which made him step towards you letting your gun hang by his hip. "I'm not gonna hurt you. Unless you try that again," he fake smiled but handed the gun back to you which completely surprised you. He turned his back towards you pulling up a desk next to you, "now who are you?" He asked again. "I'm a teacher," was the first thing you could come up with and to be fair it wasn't technically a lie. You were a teacher. He half chuckled but you knew he wasn't amused, "are we gonna have to do this the hard way?" He was becoming irritated. The tension in the air was honestly starting to suffocate you. "And I'm a historian. And while researching Virginia I mad e a few discoveries about your town," that was the most vague way you could say anything. "So you show up like van helsing?" You knew nothing you were syaing was convincing him and you weren't going to be able to leave alive till he got what he wanted from you.

"Come on, tell me the truth," he insisted pushing you further. You exhaled sharply trying not to show how annoyed you were or how scared you were. "My wife was a parapsychologist she spent her life research paranormal activity in this area. It was her work that lead me here." He kinda just hummed and shifted in his seat. You weren't sure how he was sitting in the desk and it hadn't fallen over against his weight. "And where's your wife?" Your heart dropped a lot of time had passed but it still hurt everyday. Missing her everyday. "Dead," you shifted uncomfortably in the desk that was made for people not of your size. But there was no way really that you could sit that didn't make you body tense from the pain. "A vampire killed her," you know that for sure. "Where's the Gilbert and Lockwood journals?" He had this brutish look to him like he was trying to act hard and scary just as you were trying to act like you weren't afraid. "What do you want with it?" But he gave you nothing, "where are they," he pushed again. "It was on my desk," you glanced to the Sid elf him but he was right in front of where you had piled them. "No It's not," he moved out of your way and you saw that the pile of the old weathered journals was in fact gone. "It was on my desk," you looked to him and then back to ythe our desk. Clearly these journals were a lot more important then you had realized.

Annas POV

Stefan of course butted in right in time for you to swipe all of the journals while he was questioning that teacher. And now they all laid across the bed in front of you. God most of it was just like gibberish of a mad man. Sentences that didn't make any sense or words you just couldn't make out at all. "Anything?" Ben asked as he laced up the ugly combat boots he always wore. Seeming convinced it made him look badass when really he just kinda looked stupid. He was a washed up jock in a town he was never gonna get away from because he lacked purpose and direction and braincells. "Not yet. Just a lot of gibberish," you brushed him off. He lacked purpose and needed you and has since decided it meant that you two were attached at the hip. Which was getting old. "Ya know some people just really shouldn't journal," the tv was flipped to some channel playing an old 80s movie. But neither of you cared what was on it was just annoying being able to hear everyone's conversations and sometimes it was just nice to just have at least a little bit of silence. "I thought this Gilbert was the brains," Ben stumbled over leaning down next to you. "Don't you have a date?" You shifted away from him. "Yep. Wish me luck," he grinned leaning in attempting to kiss you but you just jerked your head to the side "ehhh," was all you offered to him placing a hand on his chest to keep him away from you. You didn't turn him to date him you turned him because he was a small town bartender and you needed him to be your eyes and ears.

"I saw her again today. The most beautiful woman in town with a name just as pretty, Pearl. Have you thought more about what I said? Pearl asked the dark haired girl you had come to known as Katherine. We will leave soon Pearl I promise the girl assured her. Bringing one of the elixirs or whatever pearl had to her nose. I just need to take care of a few things first she slipped the lid back into the jar and placed it back on the shelf. You're going to turn both of them aren't you? But Katherine said nothing and just gave pearl a coy smile. Katherine please be careful. We will all be safe I promise she smiled sweetly. If only I had known this at the time I could have saved some heartache and loads of drinking. Mr Gilbert is coming pearl blushed. Quick your cheeks she slightly pinched them so your cheeks had some color at least. Perfectly Rosie she grinned as i walked in. Miss pearl can I have a moment you asked politely. Yes mr Gilbert she followed me outside into the steps of her store. Katherine just gave you a kind smile but with those dark doe eyes made you feel that, that pretty little head of hers was full of secrets. I'm still waiting for you to explain the comet in the sky she smiled playfully. Talking to her made you feel uneasy. Being what you were in the world you lived in never made talking to women easy.

As decendants of the founding families they're going to want to know that they can count on you Giuseppe unloaded the talk he finally had with at least Stefan. Of course they can is there any doubt the younger boy Stefan asked his father. Giuseppe had decided that since charolette was so young that it was decided to leave her out of this. I don't think your brother Damon or even charolette understands your duty the importance of it. Damon left the confederacy on principle, it was his choice. It should be respected. And Charlie is so young barely 16 she doesn't need to be apart of this. Or Kaylee for that matter. Damon found his father and younger brother and already knew what they were talking aabout. "Well forgive me if I have trouble respecting a diserter. Well I never asked for your respect. That's what you had noticed with the family. Damon made his choice but his father was always against it. And Stefan had grown close to his father where as Damon spent most of his time alone or with Charlotte. Good for you Damon because all I have is disappointmen. You said the town is in trouble Stefan changed the subject tired of the bickering between his father and oldest brother. His father broke the stare down he was having with damon there's been to many deaths. It is time for us to fight back and stop these killers. Killers what are you talking about? Stefan asked both of the boys clearly confused. We live amongst demons their father insisted. Who's cryptic now father? Why dint you just say the world? Damon challenged. Vampires, they exist. And they live amongst us. But we have a plan to kill them. And you both are going to help us."

Damons POV

Making dinner and playing nice was a lot harder then you wouldn't have expected. But with a little help of one of the most expensive bottles of wine in your parents cellar you had finally gotten little aunt Jenna to at least talk to you. "My father never approved of anyone I dated of course, what about you?" You smiled still trying to pay attention to what you were doing.

"There was a few guys. Logan isn't the only loser I've dated," she shrugged leaning against the cupboards since she had taken a seat on top of the counter. "Did they ever find him? Is he still missing?" You asked trying to get a fell for what other humans knew or thought. Even though you were more then aware as to what happened to him. And that you and Kaylee had put a stop to him.

"He's not missing. He's in the Bahamas working on his tan. Very entitled that one, marches to his own drum," she sucked down the remaining wine in her glass. "He's foul. They're all snooty." You just chuckled politely not really paying attention to what she was saying or cared about her boy problems. But you gladly grabbed the bottle of wine filling her glass once again. It had just hit you how much you missed Kaylee even though you had seen her earlier. You missed her being by your side everyday. Being your side kick watching your back while you watched hers. As dysfunctional and insane you two were. It worked. You finished refilling her glass and placed it back on the island before returning to your work station. "Hello Elena," you greeted with your back turned as you sensed her coming. In a weird way you understood Stefan strange obsession with her since she of course was a carbon copy of Katherine. But you wanted the real thing. You needed it. Jenna seeming to be feeling her buzz turned, "hey where have you been? We're making dinner," but Elena didn't seem convinced at the look she was giving you like she was gonna tear your head off given the chance. "Stefan with you?" You poked trying to see if he actually was doing what you asked. And was being serious about this agreement. "He will be here soon. So will Kaylee and Kyle," she smirked knowing how much that wolf got under your skin. But just leaned against the counter Jenna was on folding her arms across her chest like the spoiled little princess she was.

Alaric's POV

"How long have you been aware of me?" Stefan pressed on. It felt like this conversation had been going on forever. Being with Isabelle you had been first to hear all the vampire babble over the years that you were married. But it got to a point that she obsessed over the idea. That her whole life was her research. Losing countless hours or nights of sleep. And most importantly pushing you away. You tried to believe or at the very least keep an open mind. But it wasn't easy. The things she so believed were real had been things you read in books as a kid or head stories from different family members. But that's all they were, stories. You could feel the sweat bead8ng on your forehead it had felt like this rooms temperature had grown just from Stefan walking into it. "I learned just recently when I met your brother," the pain of Stefan throwing you across the room was becoming more and more prominent as the time passed. "You met Damon," he seemed a bit shocked. "Who do you think killed my wife?" You knew saying thus was a ballsy move but at this point you had nothing left to lose. Stefans face hardened again and you couldn't read his emotions or anticipate what his next move was gonna be. "You certain it was Damon?"

"I witnessed it," stefans eyebrows quickly knitted together like he wasn't sure if he believed you or not. But he kinda scoffed, "if you're here for revenge this is gonna end very badly for you," now he was taking the approach of talking to you like you were a child. But in all of isabelles reseach your best bet was to show no fear even if you were terrified. "I just want to figure out what happened to my wife," the pain from your ribs was causing the wrist headache you had in a long time. "I thought you just said that Damon-"

"Yeah. I saw him draining the life out of her he must have heard me coming. He just... disappeared. So did her body. They never found her," it was hard to keep the pain out of your voice. There wasn't a day that went by that you didn't miss her. That it didn't kill you that you didn't know what happened. Stefan sighed rising from his perch on the desk, "Damon can never know why you're here. He will kill you without blinking."

"I can take care of myself," you assured him. He slightly shook his head, "no you can't. But I can help you. If you let me."

Kaylees POV

You had gotten a urgent 911 text from Jeremy saying that Damon was over at their house supposedly making them dinner. And had simultaneously gotten aunt Jenna drunk. Not that, that was hard. You had made your way into the kitchen trying to make yourself helpful in hopes of keeping your mind busy at least for a little while. You were taking plates out and setting the table when you turned back and Damon quickly snaked an arm around your waist before slyly grabbing a towel that happened to be behind you before moving back to his station. Whatever he was making, did smell great. "Don't do that," you resumed setting the table grabbing silverware for everyone. "Do what?" He asked playing innocent which he knew made your knees weak. You tried to fit your feelings. Telling yourself over and over that you were over him. But no matter how hard you tried it never came true. "That move was deliberate," you rolled your eyes even though his back was turned to you. "Well yeah I was elaborately trying to grab the towel," he swung it around before laying it back over his shoulder. "Speaking of Stefan where is he? Because he is missing family night which I am enjoying immensely," he turned sending you a playful wink before turning back to whatever he was doing. Cooking was never your strong suit. So you knew even if you wanted to offer to help it would be useless. Damon stood over the sink cleaning off one of the larger knifes and you saw him staring blankly out the window. "Is it real?" He asked seeming to be at least a little vulnerable with you which caught you off guard because he usually was never like this unless you two were completely alone. "Is what real Damon?"

"This renewer sense of brotherhood? My friendship with your little wolf boy? With you?" He turned towards you wiping his hands off , "can I trust you guys?"

"Damon Stefan is your brother, of course you can trust him. If you two didn't let hundreds of years of bad blood over one stupid girl get 8n the way of everything you would realize that Stefan and even Charlie love you. As for Kyle , I've known him since we were kids. He's loyal to the bone. And as for me, if you have to question wether or not you can trust me then we're not doing what I thought we we're doing here," his question did hurt your heart a little. Out of everyone you had always been the one that stayed regardless of what he did. That always had his back. You set the silverware down in the table and walked closer to him taking one of his hands in yours. "Damon, I love you. I've loved you for a hundred years. And I have always stuck with you. I always stood by you and believed in you. I understand why Katherine is so important to you. And I understand why you have to do this. We're different people right now. But we made a promise when you and I were kids right? That no matter what happens in this life that we were always end game. That we would always have each other no matter what. We want to help you. And I know that's hard for you to wrap your mind around because you're use to being alone. But we want to help. I want to help you. I want nothing more then you to be happy," you squeezed his hand smiling down at the skin to skin contact before going back to setting the table. You felt his weight press against your back and his hands placed on your hips again and you sighed once again turning towards him. "Can I trust him?" You watched his pupils dialate over and over.

"Damon I can't be compelled so I don't even know why bother even trying." You rolled your eyes but your heart sunk a little when a hurt look spread across his face.

"I'm not compelling you. I just want you to answer me, honestly." He was almost begging? It did suck that he seemed to have waited so long for you to come back, so long waiting for you. And still didn't believe you when you poured your heart out to him. "Of course you can," you finished sett g the table before walking down the hall locking yourself in he bathroom. Feeling faint you sat down on the toilet. You had grown to learn that this feeling usually meant you were going to get a flashback...

Flashback...:

"You can trust me Mr. Salvatore. I would never cheat." Katherine always insisted playing this game. It was one you didn't care about or even bother learning. But just like everyone else even Giuseppe was fooled by katherines charms. "I'm losing over here , again" he exclaimed and you turned to see Damon and Stefan walking towards you. You stood and took a place next to him. "She's good. I must believe she genuinely likes him," you couldn't even remotely contain the scoff in your throat. "Perhaps she does," Stefan agreed. "Oh please. The otnly person Katherine likes is herself. You two are fools if you think otherwise," you crossed your arms over your chest. You had known girls like Katherine your whole life. God this town was crawling with them. Nice and charming to the boys but every normal girl could see right through it. They didn't even move without some ulterior motive. "She knows father would kill her if he knew the truth," you kinda smirked at that idea that flashed in your mind. It would be quite funny to see her get wat she deserved. But then you would lose your best friends. "Not if we talked to him. Explained how we feel. He could help us ke her safe," poor love sick puppy Stefan.

"Have you gone mad?" Damon asked turning fully towards you two.

"Absolutely not. Father would drive a stake in her himself," Damon's eyes had that wild look in his eyes.

"Stefan I don't even like the girl. But I know your father and have heard how he feels about them when they think they have secret meetings at my parents house. He will kill her without even blinking." It annoyed you to say those words but she didn't deserve to die. As much as you didn't like her. "Promise me you won't tell him Stefan," Damon was almost begging the edge in his voice was enough to make you cry. He looked to his feet before looking over at her who was lining up her next shot. She of course was watching you like a hawk. Even catching her eyes for just a moment always left you with a sick feeling. You weren't convinced that Stefan would keep this severest to himself. He always tried to see the best in his father which was something you had come to admire but if he did, he would for sure sign her death warrant.
