Disclaimer: I don't own these characters, they are the product of Shondaland productions.
Harrison tells a joke that has everyone in roaring laughter, and although Fitz is laughing along with everyone else. He looks back at the couch at his wife, but sees she's not there. Instantly, he wonders where she is and walks over to Abby, who is sitting on the opposing arm of the couch talking to Riley and Gwen.
Politely he says, "Hello ladies. Have either of you seen Liv? All three shrug her shoulders as they share a look and look around, as Riley replies, "I think I saw her go toward the hall bathroom a moment ago. I can go check if you like?" He smiles as he replies, "Nah, its cool. I'm sure she'll be back soon." They all adore how he fawns over her, always wanting to make sure Liv is okay.
Agreeing to give his wife a little space, and feeling gentlemen like he says, "I'm going to get some more punch. Did you ladies want anything?" They all grin as they reply, "Yes sir." Their eager and simultaneous response makes him chuckle too, as he discerns the adult beverage they've been sipping is having its desired effect. As their laughing settles, he takes their glasses as he nods and responds, "It's my pleasure ladies. Be right back."
Bopping to the music, he takes their glasses and heads into the dining room to get some punch. When he reaches the table, there's a break in the music and suddenly he hears a knocking coming from the outside kitchen door. The noise gets everybody's attention, and Fitz heads toward it since he's closest. When he gets to the door, it takes a moment to process what he's seeing. He's not sure if his eyes are deceiving him due to the alcohol he's consumed. But then, he snaps out of his haze as his brain confirms his vision, as he identifies his wife is leaning against the top of the door, gasping for air.
Incredibly concerned and frightened, he screams, "Liv! Hey guys, help over here! Help! We're coming babe!" Hearing the sense of urgency in his voice; everyone flocks to the kitchen. By the time they arrive, Fitz is already attempting to handle the situation.
Remembering it's a Dutch door, he opens the top and she slumps over the top part, falling into his arms. Uncle Eli is the first one behind him, who sees what's going on who says, "Oh my God Peaches." Rushing to help, immediately he pulls the latch to open the bottom. While Harrison runs out the front door and around the back. But when he makes it to the deck, he sees his sister being lifted up and carried inside.
Fitz has her in his arms, and he says, "You're safe Livy. I'm here." Ron, full of worry too asks, "You got her bro?" He nods as he replies, "Yeah. I've got her." Reva hurriedly clears the couch of pillows as she says, "Fitz, bring her over here to the couch."
He follows her command. But as he lays her down he notices she's ice cold to the touch and breathing erratically. He knows she's smack dab in the middle of an anxiety attack. So her medicine wouldn't help her. Even if she could take it. With her being pregnant, they're using holistic remedies because they don't want to use any medications that could hurt the baby. Therefore to help her, he has to employ relaxation exercises that are sure to work, and work quickly for her sake and the sake of the baby.
With everyone huddling around them, he asks, "Can everyone please back up and give her some space." Gwen and Reva echo his sentiments as he then asks, "Can someone give me a blanket, and she's freezing." Abby hands him the blanket. While Riley says, "I'll get her some tea." Ryan replies, "Chamomile is the best." After Abby passes Fitz the blanket; Gwen begins tucking in her legs as she says, "I've got this. You tend to her." He agreeably starts to think of what to do next, while tabling his own anxiety.
Seeing this is going to be more in depth, Uncle Eli decides to get the kids out of the room as he says, "Ron and Ryan, take the kids downstairs while we take care of Liv please. They don't need to see this." Ron agrees as he and Ryan grab the kids and take them downstairs, while they work on Liv.
Meanwhile, Fitz is tuning out everyone else as he says, "Livy. I'm here baby. I'm here. If you can hear me; please open your eyes." Her eyes flicker, as if she's trying to open them. But they don't open. Instead, she's gripping him tightly. Her body tension is soaring and he knows her blood pressure must be sky high too. Feeling his own worries rise, as he prays for a resolution to come to him.
It hits him like a ton of bricks, as he takes a breath and calms his voice, despite being frantic inside. Remembering a tactic that always works, he takes her hand and places it on his chest under his shirt, with his hand atop hers, as he says, "Follow me Livy. Breathe with me babe." He breathes deeply and so does everyone else. He appreciates the support. And is hopeful this works faster with more people being present.
It takes a few attempts, but minutes later, her hands warm against his chest, and he feels her body tension reducing. Her breathing then calms as her eyes open. As she looks at him, she's following his breathing and his voice. As he speaks about the beautiful garden of flowers outside their bedroom on their honeymoon. He accurately and distinctly describes the fragrances and the colors. It's like she's there, in the garden instead of being here now.
As her body begins to increasingly calm, she sees him hovering over her and he leans forward still breathing with her. Seeing her improvement, everyone can feel the reduction in tension in the room.
Seeing she's coming around; lovingly, he strokes her face as he asks, "Are you okay?" She has tears in her eyes, but she nods as she says, "Yes. I'm okay." He hugs her and she embraces him in return. Everyone looks on as he reassuringly says, "I'm so glad you're okay baby."
She weeps as she says, "I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to worry you. It happened so fast. I tried to stop it, but I couldn't." He pulls away from her a bit as he replies, "You don't have anything to be sorry about Liv. You being okay is the most important thing here. You hear me?" She nods and he pecks her lips as he says, "I love you." She grins as she responds, "I love you too."
Like someone hits a switch, she gasps as she says, "The baby. Maybe we should go to the hospital." Gwen, a labor and delivery nurse says, "Unless you're in pain Liv. There's no reason to go to the hospital. I can check your vitals here. I have my bag."
