Author's Notes- Hey guys, got a new chapter here. This will be a short chapter before the grand finale, and chapter 20 will be out very soon after this one, like probably the next day or the day after that. Anyway, there's not much else to say. Enjoy!
I don't own any of the characters or anything, except for my OCs.
Super Saiyans Among The Stars
Chapter 19- Trunks
"So… what now?" Corono asked. He and Caulifla were the only ones in the room. Scallio had gone outside and away to train.
"I don't know, Corono." Caulifla answered.
"Are we still going to Namek?" Corono asked.
"I don't know. Have you talked to Scallio lately?" Caulifla responded.
"I can't. He hasn't spoken to me since he got that transmission from Cut." Corono said.
"Me neither. In fact, I've barely even seen him lately. He was practically a shell as soon as he turned the ship around to come back here." Caulifla said.
A week ago, Corono, Scallio, and Caulifla had been heading to Namek to get the Dragon Balls and wish Cabba and Kale to be safely reunited with them. But after getting the transmission on the info watch, Scallio became distraught and turned the ship around to go back home. Now, on Planet Flora, Corono and Caulifla sit in their hut, wondering what will happen.
"Maybe I should try to talk to Scallio. Maybe we can get him to let us go to Namek ourselves." Corono said. He knew that Scallio was going through a rough time, but he really wanted to save his friend and his brother.
"I don't think that's a good idea, Corono." Caulifla told him.
"Why not? I mean, what if Cut isn't even dead? He could have gotten out of there before Broly could get him." Corono tried to argue.
"We saw the whole planet explode, and he didn't have anywhere near enough time to get off of it. Cut is gone, and Scallio is taking it pretty hard." Caulifla asserted. "And it's not even just that."
"Huh? What do you mean?" Corono said, confused.
"The last thing he did with his brother was fight with him. Don't you remember when he told us that Cut only agreed to the challenge for the Dragon Balls was because he was afraid Scallio would hate him? Scallio wanted to wait until after we used the Dragon Balls to tell Cut that he wouldn't ever hate him, no matter what. And now, Scallio's never going to get to tell him." Caulifla explained.
At that moment, Scallio entered the hut. He wasn't sweating much, which Corono thought was odd. But he went to the showers anyway. As usual, Scallio said not a word to Corono or Caulifla.
"I feel kind of bad for him. I mean, you don't know where Cabba is right now, and Kale is still in prison, but at least we have hope that they're alright. He basically had to watch his brother die and not be able to do anything about it. I can't imagine what I'd do if something terrible happened to Kale." Caulifla mused.
"I can't imagine what I'd do if I found out something had happened to Cabba." Corono agreed.
"I don't know what I'd do if something happened to you." Caulifla blurted out. Corono's head snapped up. Sure, they were together, but it was rare to hear her say something like that.
"I… feel that way about you too." He stammered. It was true, he wouldn't be able to live with himself if something happened to Caulifla.
She crawled over to him and wrapped her arms around him. He wrapped his arms around her too, in a protective fashion.
They heard Scallio exit the shower and go into his room.
"If something does happen to us, it'll happen to us together." Corono whispered.
The two of them stayed like that for a while. Corono knew that in this universe, anyone could be gone in a flash. He almost didn't believe Cut's death himself. The guy seemed to always have a plan, for everything. But no amount of planning or craftiness would ever save someone from a monster like Broly.
The sound of the info watch getting a message got Corono's attention. Scallio instantly came out of his room with it, now dressed in his usual attire. Scallio answered the message, and Corono saw a hologram loading up, surprised to see who the image was showing.
"Cut?" He stammered.
"Scallio." Cut started. "If you're seeing this message..."
Oh. It was some kind of automatic message that would send to Scallio if something happened to him.
"It means that I've met an untimely end, at the hands of Bojack or one of his men, or maybe Broly, or even someone else. Hopefully it wasn't Corono or Caulifla who did this. There are two things I need to tell you. First, there's a planet called Namek, it has items known as Dragon Balls. Those can bring anyone back from the dead. I hope you may be able to get to them to wish me back, and if anything happened to Nomu or Lazuli, please wish them back as well. I was going to use them to revive my friend, but they can be used again after a period of time."
This must have been recorded before they caught Bojack and the others.
"Second, if someone or something did do this to me, they must be pretty powerful. You might need back up for them. Well, on a planet called Earth, there is another Saiyan. His name is Trunks. He's even stronger than I am, or at least he was before I left Earth. He lives with his mother in a large business corporation, and you can't miss it. You'll be able to feel his energy once you're on Earth. Find him, I'm sure he'll be more than willing to help you with whoever it is you're fighting. He's one of those righteous people. Kind of like Corono, you know? Anyway, there's no telling when the person will strike, but let Trunks stay with you for a bit, that way he'll be there to help you fight. I hope I see you again, brother. Alive, I mean. Don't die."
After that, the transmission ended, and Scallio put his head down and turned away. He stalked back into his room. He probably needed to get himself together emotionally.
"Do you think Trunks can really help us with Broly?" Caulifla asked.
"I hope so. Cut mentioned Trunks while we were fighting, and Nomu mentioned him earlier, before Commander Chauff caught me and brought me back to prison." Corono explained. "I get the feeling that the two of them didn't always see eye to eye."
After a few minutes, Scallio came back into the room. "Okay, listen. You two can take one of the ships and head to Planet Namek. Get the Dragon Balls, and we'll find a way to save your friends and wish my brother back. I'll go and find this Trunks guy. I need to take the info watch with me."
Corono nodded. "Sounds good."
"Okay, let's go." Caulifla said.
"Sure thing." Corono agreed, eager to spend some more alone time with Caulifla.
….
Scallio piloted his ship towards Earth. He managed to find the planet's location by searching for it via the info watch. It was a good distance away from Planet Flora, but lucky for him, it was on the way to Namek. He figured he'd get Trunks and talk him into going with him to Namek, and they'd meet up with Corono and Caulifla and figure it out from there. Of course, he'd need to wish his brother back too while he was there.
After what seemed like forever, Scallio finally saw the little blue planet coming into view. As he got closer to it, he could see that Earth wasn't quite as small as it looked like it was. Scallio piloted the ship to land in a space that had no life that he could sense, but also nearby to a city. He didn't know how fragile their cities were. He had been lucky he landed where he did when they had gone to Paragus's planet. As his ship descended onto the planet, Scallio couldn't help but marvel at how nice it was. It was like a cross between the luxury planet and Flora. He could see the cities in the distance that were similar to the luxury planet, but this was during the day. It always seemed like nighttime on the luxury planet.
The ship finally reached the ground, and soon after, the hatch opened. Scallio got out, locked up his ship, and turned to fly towards the city. He could feel multiple weaker power levels coming from the inhabitants of the planet. He flew into the city, looking for a quick bite to eat before finding this Saiyan. But he didn't see anything that looked like an open restaurant. In fact, much of this city seemed to be under construction. Many of the buildings looked like they were either half built or being recovered from suffering serious damage. Scallio realized that finding food most likely wasn't going to happen anytime soon, so he closed his eyes and focused intently. That was when he felt a small bit of Saiyan energy. It was coming from the western part of this planet.
Scallio ascended and flew towards where he felt the Saiyan energy from. Along the way, he spotted some areas with plants and forest patches, and he was reminded of Planet Flora. But he also saw more cities, most of which were filled with construction. He found himself in such a city when he was close to the Saiyan energy. It seemed to be coming from inside a large, dome shaped building. Scallio was quick to land in front of the dome building and walked up to the front door, somewhat confused. Should he knock? Would someone in that house hear him?
Before he could knock, the door swung open and a blue haired woman in a lab coat stepped out.
"Welcome to Capsule Corporation. My name is Bulma, head of the company!" The woman said. Then she adopted a quizzical look. "You don't look like any reconstruction workers I've ever seen."
"I'm actually lookin' for someone named Trunks." Scallio said.
The woman narrowed her eyes. "Who are you? If you're looking to cause trouble-"
"No!" Scallio shouted, cutting her off. "I was told to come here and find him. We have a problem and I think he might be able to help."
Bulma placed her finger on her chin. "Hmm… come to think of it, you look somewhat familiar. You wouldn't happen to be a Saiyan, would you?"
"I am. But there's another Saiyan who ain't so friendly. I was told that Trunks might be able to help us beat him before he can cause trouble to more planets, includin' this one." Scallio told her.
The woman thought for a moment. Then she sighed. "Okay, come on in. Trunks is my son, and he's out at the store right now, but he should be back in a few minutes. So, who is this other Saiyan that you're talking about?"
"Uh, well..." Scallio faltered. "If you don't mind, I'd rather tell both of you at once when Trunks gets back."
"Okay, well… can you at least tell me what it's like on whatever planet you live on?" Bulma asked.
"It's pretty peaceful. The inhabitants there are nice too. They don't have the best food, but it's alright." Scallio told her.
"Okay. Well, I'm going to go down into my lab to do some work. Feel free to look around. I'll be back once Trunks gets home." She said.
She left the room. Rather than wander around, Scallio let his eyes wander over the living room in which he sat. He saw a bunch of stuff posted on the walls. He didn't know what too much of it meant. He decided to close his eyes and relax for a bit.
After a while, he heard someone else enter the building.
"Mom, I'm home!" A voice called.
He soon heard Bulma walking back into the room. At the same time, the building's newcomer arrived in the living room.
The young man had a slimmer build and lighter skin than Scallio did, but Scallio could tell he was a Saiyan. His hair was long enough to go a little past his shoulders and was lavender in color. His eyes were blue and had a somewhat hardened look to them. He wore a purple jacket that had a logo on it, a black tank top underneath, and baggy black pants. He had a couple of paper bags in his hands, presumably full of groceries.
He froze upon seeing Scallio. "I thought I sensed something odd."
"Trunks, this guy is actually looking for you." Bulma said. "He said he would tell both of us everything about why he's here once you got back."
"Well I'm here. I can tell you're a Saiyan. Who are you?" Trunks said.
"The name's Scallio. Listen, my brother was killed recently." The dark skinned Saiyan said sadly.
"I'm deeply sorry for your loss. But what does this have to do with us?" Trunks asked.
Scallio pulled out his info watch. "He left me this message tellin' me to come here. I think you'll recognize him when you see it."
Scallio then played the message his late brother left him again, this time for Trunks and his mother to see. He closed his eyes as sadness overtook him, and he struggled not to cry. When it was over, he looked up to see Trunks with a shocked look on his face.
"It's Cut! He's… dead?" Trunks stammered.
"Yep. Him, his crew, his base and home planet… all gone." Scallio confirmed. Bulma gasped.
"His crew? You mean…" Trunks trailed off.
"Nomu and Lazuli. They were with him. I saw some of it." Scallio told him.
"Who..." Trunks trailed off again.
"Another Saiyan. Real monstrous one. Crazy strong too. You see, there's two other Saiyans that I'm friends with, supposedly from another universe." Scallio began.
"Another universe?" Bulma exclaimed.
"Yep. That's what they said, at least. Anyway, they were already trailin' this guy, and at one point all three of us had to fight him. Until now, I didn't have a serious stake in all that. I was just doin' it to help them. But now… now I wanna kill 'em myself." Scallio finished.
"That… oh gosh, it must be hard, losing your brother like that." Bulma said.
Scallio looked down. "It is. Especially considerin' what went down last time I seen 'em. We did nothin' but fight. I mean, we agreed on no hard feelings and all, but still… he only even agreed to that fight because he was worried I'd hold it against 'em. I wouldn't do that, but I figured I'd wait until later to tell 'em."
"But you never got to." Trunks stated.
"Nope." Scallio confirmed.
For a while, a sad, awkward silence descended on the three. Scallio fought through his emotional pain. He had to keep it together. After all, he could get his brother back if he did. Just as he got a handle on his emotions, Trunks spoke up.
"So, the Saiyan who did this, what did he look like?" The lavender haired Semi-Saiyan asked.
"At first he was just a normal lookin' guy. But when he got attacked, he turned into this big, hulkin' monster. His name's Broly. His father thinks he can be helped, but I ain't in the mood for helpin'." Scallio answered.
Trunks' eyes went wide. "Broly?"
"Yeah. Why?" Scallio said, looking at Trunks.
"This might sound weird, but I know who you're talking about. We met him in a sort of parallel world, not like another universe, but… in the past. It's hard to explain. Anyway, Broly is no joke. Me and the others who had to face him could have never brought him down without working together. If he's the one you're after, you'll need all the help you can get." Trunks said, getting up. "I'll go with you and find this guy, but first, let me see how strong you are. That way, I'll get a feel for what we're in for."
Scallio wasn't even going to ask what Trunks meant about going to a parallel world or in the past. He looked at Trunks quizzically. "You want to spar?"
"No." Trunks responded. "I just need you to power all the way up, so I can sense your power. Afterwards, I'll do the same for you."
"Okay. Guess I can do that." Scallio said.
Scallio, Trunks, and Bulma walked outside. Scallio and Trunks went out to the street and took stances opposite each other a few feet apart, as if they were about to spar. Bulma stayed closer to the house, a fair distance from the two.
"Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa….." Scallio began to summon his power. The wind began to pick up, and smaller rocks began to ascend and float in the air. He brought it out slowly, and soon he incorporated his Super Saiyan form into the power up as mild shout evolved into a loud roar. "HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"
Once he had powered himself up to his maximum, Scallio looked around. Bulma seemed impressed as she stared at him wide eyed. Trunks, however, only looked mildly interested. His expression remained impassive, and only a small glint in his eye revealed any sign of him being impressed.
"That's a lot of power you have there. And these other Saiyans you mentioned, can they go Super Saiyan as well?" Trunks asked.
"Yeah. I think I'm the strongest, but the others ain't far behind." Scallio answered.
"Wow. You'd think these Super Saiyans grow on trees." Bulma said. "Trunks, about how powerful is he compared to you?"
"He's not quite as strong as I am. I'd say he's about the same strength as Cell was in his second form when I fought him in the past." Trunks told her. "Still, he could really help us out against Broly. Now, it's my turn."
"Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa….." Trunks began to summon his power, and Scallio could feel it rising. Once again, the wind picked up and small rocks ascended into the air. But this time, the terrain shook a bit. As Trunks unveiled his Super Saiyan form, he let out his own feral roar. "HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"
When Trunks' power finally stopped rising, Scallio stood with wide eyes and his mouth agape. Trunks' power dwarfed his own! Who was this guy?
"If he's anything like the Broly I faced in the past, this will be a tough fight. But I've gotten a lot stronger, and I think with yours and your friends' help, we can defeat him. I'm not sure when or where he'll show up, though." Trunks said.
"Okay. I'll head to Namek pretty soon, you comin' or stayin' 'til Broly shows up?" Scallio said.
"Wait, Namek? You know where the new one is?" Trunks asked, surprised yet again.
"Yeah. The info watch can take us right there." Scallio explained.
"Please, take me with you. I can revive all of my friends who were killed by the androids!" Trunks declared.
Scallio didn't bother telling him that he had his own wish to grant. His power would be useful against Broly, so he'll work out their differences afterwards.
"Sure. We can both fit in my ship, so let's go." Scallio said.
"Actually, my mom has a few spaceships herself. Not to be rude, but it can probably get us to Namek faster than the ship you used to get here." Trunks said quickly.
"How fast are we talkin'?" Scallio demanded.
"Two days." Trunks said.
"What? Two days? Do y'all know how far that is from here?" Scallio challenged.
"Actually, yes we do." Bulma interjected. "You see, while Nomu was training and Cut was busy hanging out with the androids, I kind of snuck over to his ship to have a look at it. Apparently, Nomu had been to New Namek. I fished the coordinates from that ship and applied them to my own, and with my technology, my ship was able to go there in three days. There was a special material I needed to make the ships travel faster without exploding, but I had no clue where to find something like that. But when Cut came back for a bit because apparently Eighteen got homesick, I took a look to see if he had anything useful on his ship from his travels. Imagine my surprise when I found exactly what I needed on the gold coins he had in that treasure chest. Sorry, I'm kind of rambling but I really like my inventions."
"You did all that without him even noticin'?" Scallio stammered.
"Yep. You'd be surprised what that guy misses when he's too preoccupied with something else." Bulma chuckled.
"Well okay, I guess you gotta know what you're talkin' about to do that. I'll go in your ship." Scallio told her.
"Alright, then. Trunks, take him to the ship." Bulma said.
Trunks walked back inside, motioning for Scallio to follow. The darker skinned Saiyan obliged, and soon enough, they had approached the ship.
It was time for them to go to New Namek.
….
- On New Namek -
"Wow, this place looks… strange." Caulifla commented.
"Yeah. None of the other planets we went to had that green sky, at least none of the ones I've been to." Corono agreed.
"So, how do we know where the Dragon Balls are?" Caulifla asked.
"I don't know. Maybe we need to wait until Scallio comes with Trunks." Corono said. "But maybe we can get a head start looking. I mean, I doubt Scallio would know either."
"We should try to find where the inhabitants are." Caulifla suggested.
"Good idea." Corono said, closing his eyes to scan for their energy.
But that was when he sensed something he had not been looking for. He could recognize that evil Saiyan energy anywhere. His blood ran cold.
"No, it can't be!" He shouted. But it was. Broly was already inside Namek's atmosphere and was speeding towards the planet.
"We need to head him off before he gets here! We won't be able to beat him, but maybe we can keep him from the other Namekians until Scallio and Trunks get here." Caulifla commanded.
Corono went Super Saiyan and charged straight towards the fast approaching energy signal. Caulifla did the same. As they approached Broly, they could feel how over-matched they were, but they needed to do this anyway. He came into view and flashed that sadistic, vicious grin that he always seemed to have.
Without exchanging a word, Corono's and Caulifla's fists collided with Broly's face simultaneously.
Author's Notes- Okay, so that is the end of the chapter. I know it's been a long time, but I wanted to release this and chapter 20 at the same time. Chapter 20 is pretty much done, so it will be out very soon after this chapter. See you guys in that finale!
Next Time: It's the final showdown with Broly!
