The sounds of snoring filled the room.

Raph on the floor, Mikey as a cat on top of the sofa and Donnie on the sofa, batting away Mikey's fluffy orange tail when it got to close to his nose.

And then the window opened.

Yoshi's eyes flew open at the sound, "Your morning training Leonardo?"

There was a sharp intake of breath, as Leo clearly mentally cursed at being caught. "Yes… while the city's still quiet."

"You discipline is commendable Leonardo, have a good run… but I hope you're not planning on going back to scout the lair alone?"

Leo winced, "Why would I do that? Just because the tunnels are over-run with Foot Ninja, so we're forced to hide here like cowards?!"

"You ask a question that is not a question." Yoshi sighed wearily, "If we are to succeed against our foes, we will need to act together, as a team… not as rash individuals."

"I understand Father… I am curious though. With the Shredder gone, what are the Foot up too?"

"Patience… I have a feeling we will find out all too soon."

As Yoshi turned to his other sons, Leo took the opportunity to sneak out.

A little over half an hour later, a cat screeched as Donnie and Raph leapt to their feet.

"What's going on?!" Raph glanced around, "What is it?!"

Sheepishly, Mikey started to chuckle behind them, "I felt something brush against my nose and… freaked. Turns out, it was just my tail, don't you hate that?"

"… Words fail me."

Donnie remained where he was, watching as Mikey transformed into a bird, flying over Raph's head, into the bathroom seconds before his twin.

"First dibs on the bathroom!"

….

April emerged from her room less than half an hour later to the smell of burnt toast and fried eggs, glancing around her flat in exhaustion.

She would never get used to the idea of having room-mates.

"Why is something burning?" She groaned.

"Mikey's cooking." Raph grunted, turning the page over in his book as Donnie read over his shoulder.

As if on cue, Mikey piped up from the kitchen, "Scrambled eggs are okay for everyone, right?"

"Again?!" "Again?!"

"Yes, again!" Mikey groaned, "Where's Leo, by the way?"

"He is engaged in his morning exercises." Yoshi answered, hearing thunder rumble overhead as Donnie went over to the window,

"Was he mad when he left?" Donnie asked, stretching his hand out slightly as lightning flashed overhead, "Because that's quite some storm."

….

"Got it!" Raph caught the plate, placing it on the table with the others as April emerged from the bathroom.

"Last one!" Mikey didn't notice the panicked look on her face, "Go long and up high!"

"NOT THE CHINA!"

CRASH

"Oops."

April sighed wearily, "Why should today be any different?"

Yoshi, who had his head buried in a newspaper nodded in agreement, "Kids."

"Sorry April." Mikey winced

"Yeah, really sorry…. Have you got any glue?"

April shook her head, moving over to the table, where Donnie was scribbling something in a notebook, "Don't worry. I know it's hard for six people to share a one-person apartment."

"We'll be going home soon… right Dad?" Donnie turned to Yoshi who sighed wearily, making his own way to the table.

"Don't get me wrong, I love you guys." April tried to reassure them, "But my place is just too small."

"We will leave as soon as the Foot Ninja leave the tunnels surrounding our home." Yoshi stated, catching something out of the corner of his eyes. "Michelangelo, what are you doing?"

April spun around, only to yelp at the sight of Mikey carrying several plates of scrambled eggs, balanced all up his arms and on his head. "Do you need any help with that very…. Delicate… china?!"

"No thanks! I got it!"

April yelped as the shapeshifters threw the plates up into the air, covering her eyes, before hearing them land on the table. When she opened her eyes, she was stunned to see them all in perfect place on the table, not a drop of food having split on the table or floor.

"It's a Ninja thing." Mikey stated proudly, before taking his seat and shoving spoonful's of egg into his mouth, Raph doing the same.

"Say what you want about Mikey, he knows how to scramble an egg."

"One would think table manners were a part of their training?" April questioned, glancing over at Donnie who was clearly trying not to do the same as his older brothers… especially with his Father sitting across from him.

"One would think." Yoshi muttered, sending glares at his twins.

"Shouldn't Leo have been back by now?" Mikey mumbled, mouth full as he seemed to completely ignore his Father's glares.

"Leonardo is the one son I don't have to worry about." Yoshi sighed, "Raphael with his bike, you Michelangelo with your skateboarding and Donatello with his experiments… Leonardo will be fine."

…..

"Hey, Raphie, you need help with those?"

Raph turned away from the sink, just in time to hear April yell, "Keep him away from the dishes!" and see the triumphant look on Mikey's face as he practically skipped away.

Out of the corner of his eyes, he spotted Donnie sitting on the windowsill, one hand stretched out as far as it could go with the storm raging on overhead. Every so often, a flash of lightning would light up the sky and Donnie's eyes would glow slightly

"Leo must be nuts to be out in this weather." He muttered, "Why is it, that he can go out and lose his temper, but I can't? Especially when he causes storms like this?"

"Because you cause explosions." Yoshi sighed, although he did sound a little concerned himself.

…..

Another half an hour passed, with Raph deciding to watch a football game, Donnie curled up on the other side of the sofa trying to read a book.

He had leaned just a little too far out of the window and had promptly been dragged back into the room by his Father.

"FOUL!" Raph groaned, "C'mon Ref! That was a dirty tackle!"

He threw himself back against the sofa, jolting Donnie, who looked up from his book and scowled at Raph. "No, it wasn't." He muttered, resisting the urge to kick out at his older brother, knowing he was still slightly charged and would shock his brother, "The defence team can get two points if they tackle a member of the offense with the ball in their own end zone."

"…. What?"

Donnie shrugged, "American football rules."

"And how do you know so much about American Football?"

Another shrug, "I read a book about it."

"Of course you did."

Before Raph could continue watching, Mikey darted in front of the TV, "Can I have your attention please!"

Silence.

BUUUUUUUURRRRRRRPPPP

Donnie and Raph stared at Mikey for a moment, before they started to clap, even as April groaned in disgust.

"Ewww!"

"This is what I live with all the time." Yoshi sighed, as Mikey bowed.

"Thank you, thank you! You're too kind!"

Meanwhile, Donnie was glancing down at his hands, "I can't believe I clapped for that."

There was a moment of silence, before Raph seemed to realise what had just happened as well, growling and pushing himself to his feet.

"That's it. I'm going to go and find Leo so we can get this show on the road! No offense April, but we really need to get back home. I'm going stir-crazy here!"

"You are going nowhere until your brother returns!" Yoshi snapped, getting to his feet so quickly that his chair fell back onto the floor, the BANG echoing through the apartment, "Sit. Down."

April was actually impressed at how quickly the fifteen-year-old sat back down, although it was clear that he wasn't happy about it.

"This sucks." Raph snarled, "We have to sit around here, while Leo's having all the fun!"

Another hour passed before they started to get really worried, all staring up at the clock in silence.

"Leo should have checked in by now." Mikey muttered.

Donnie nodded in agreement, nibbling on the skin around his fingernails until they threatened to bleed.

"Dad… please." Raph asked quietly from the sofa as Yoshi sighed wearily.

"Raphael… take Michelangelo and go." He eventually answered.

Mikey and Raph immediately shot to their feet, Raph automatically moved to push Donnie back down when his little brother moved to leave with them.

"What if something really happened to him?"

As if on cue, the front window smashed as Leo crashed through it, landing on the floor before falling still. There were bruises and bleeding wounds all over his body.

"LEO!" Donnie was the first to make his way over to his brother, hands hovering over the wounds as Raph joined him.

"Leo, what happened?!" He moved Leo's head onto his lap, "Who did this to you?"

Leo just about managed to open his eyes slightly but couldn't seem to find the energy to speak.

"Right!" Raph gently placed Leo on Mikey's lap, moving over to the window, "I'm going to find who did this!"

"No… Raph…"

Raph stopped at the croaked voice, turning around to see Leo staring at him, one hand stretched out.

"… Wait."

Raph made his way back over, allowing Leo to pull him closer.

"The Shredder… he's… back!"
