Chapter Sixty One: Welcome to the Show
The Rainbooms stood off to the side, as the whole crowd as yelling. Their performance hadn't gone over well, and the audience instantly turned on them. Vegito had tried to stick up for them, but even he was no match for their anger. They didn't say anything when he excused himself, and considering from the loud bang they heard he wasn't taking it well. Not only did they cause an uproar, but their chances of making it to the finals were surely gone. It was a horrible situation and they weren't sure what was going to happen.
"I'm sorry girls. If I hadn't been rocking out so hard I wouldn't have shown my magic." Rainbow Dash apologized.
"It's okay Rainbow Dash, I know we can still stop the Sirens." Twilight said.
Applejack frowned. "Ah don't mean ta be negative, but ah highly doubt we'll be movin' on to the finals."
Rarity nodded sadly. "Everyone hates us, while they just adored Trixie."
"It's so true, isn't it?" Trixie smirked as she walked over to the Rainbooms. "You tried your best Rain-brooms, but we all know who the greatest band is."
A few moments later Principal Celestia and Vice Principal Luna walked on stage. "We have made our decision. The band that will be joining the Dazzlings in tonight's finals... The Rainbooms!"
"What?!" Trixie shrieked.
Sunset Shimmer was quite surprised, and she could tell her friends were also.
"Did they just say, "the Rainbooms"?!" Pinkie questioned.
Trixie then walked away in a huff. "This isn't over!"
The Rainbooms then went up on stage.
"Congratulations, girls. You deserve it."
"Seriously?! Everybody hates u-"
After elbowing Pinkie, Rainbow smiled nervously.
That was when the Dazzlings walked onto the stage.
"See you at tonight's big show, Rainbooms. We are really looking forward to it." Adagio smirked before she and her sisters left.
"Yeah, well... not as much as we are!" Rainbow Dash yelled, only for the crowd to start jeering some more.
"Zis never should haf been you, Rainbooms!" Photo Finish shouted.
Twilight quickly realized it was time for them to leave, and she also figured it would be good to check on Vegito and Tapion. "Come on girls, let's go."
Everyone in the crowd was booing as the Rainbooms left the room.
Trixie had made her way into the crowd, and might have been the most upset out of everyone. "This is a travesty! A travesty!"
"It really is! The Rainbooms don't deserve to be in the finals. Not when your band was so much better in the semis." Adagio said as she placed a hand on Trixie's shoulder.
"And wanted it so much more." Aria added, also coming out of nowhere.
"Alas, this is the way it's going to be. Dazzlings vs. Rainbooms."
Sonata then joined the group. "Unless, of course, the Rainbooms don't manage to make it to their set or held up for some reason."
Trixie grinned wickedly as lots of ideas were forming in her head.
After that big ordeal in the Gym the girls were now looking for their other friends, who had left not too long ago. Along the way they noticed the locker, or lack there of, and felt a little worried. They had seen what he was capable of, and Twilight knew just how dangerous Vegito could be when angry. Still they weren't about to abandon him now, and so they continued searching for him. They soon found themselves outside, where they thought they heard their voices. Sure enough they ran into their friends.
Tapion glanced over and noticed the girls and Spike. "Oh hey. So, what happened?"
"We made it to the finals."
"Really?" Tapion questioned.
"Yeah, we're not sure why though." Fluttershy admitted.
"Well you were pretty great up there, and even though the crowd turned on you Celestia and Luna didn't." Sunset figured.
"I guess all that matters now is crushing the Sirens in the finals." Rainbow said.
Twilight then noticed Vegito was being awfully quiet, and she had a good idea as to why. "So how are you holding up Vegito?"
The Saiyan looked over at her, and let out a massive sigh. "I don't know how much more of this I can take! They're all morons, and I know the Sirens are the cause, but they're still getting on my nerves! I just can't wrap my mind around it, and I'm getting close to snapping honestly."
"Just try and relax darling, we're almost through with this ordeal."
"Yeah all we gotta do is beat the Dazzlings tonight, easy peasy lemon squeasy!" Pinkie Pie smiled.
Suddenly there was a loud explosion, several feet away from the group. There was a big cloud of smoke, and the shockwave had knocked them off of their feet. They got back up and noticed the shroud clearing. The girls, Tapion and Spike looked over and saw Vegito with his arms crossed, having just saved their lives. The group then searched around for the source of the attack, and it didn't take them long to find it. There were two people floating in the sky, but they soon came down to the ground.
It was a pair of girls, but they weren't total strangers... well although none of them had actually met those two individuals, they knew exactly who they were. One girl had amber colored skin, with short red and yellow hair. Her eyes were teal, with the right one having a pretty nasty scar around it. The second girl had lavender colored skin, and purple eyes. Her hair was dark blue with a pink and purple streak, which was tied back in a ponytail. One was wearing a school uniform, and the other jeans and a leather jacket. There was no mistaking it, it was Twilight and Sunset.
Vegito merely glanced between the pair, studying them closely.
"Well what do we have here?"
The other Twilight took a good look around, and took note of two particular individuals. "How strange, another version of us."
On the other side both Twilight and Sunset were beyond confused, although Sunset was starting to feel scared from the look she was receiving from herself.
"Oh isn't that just great?! Look at you with your flawless skin and perfect hair, and all of these other girls must be your friends. Isn't that lovely, having people who care about you! I'll bet your life has been perfect, with everything handed to you on a silver platter! Well that changes now, and you're going to suffer like I have my whole life! What was that old expression, an eye for an eye?"
"Sunset we have bigger concerns, we can kill them all later."
"Hold it right there!" Vegito exclaimed as he took a few steps forward. "I have a lot of questions right now, but I doubt you're going to give me any answers. Oh, and the only way you're going to harm my friends is by going through me, and that's never going to happen!"
The other Twilight smirked. "You seem confident, but I wouldn't take us lightly Vegito."
"You know who I am."
"We know a lot about you Saiyan, or at least, we do now. Our eyes have been converted into scanners, and all this time we've been gathering data on you. Of course Dr. Robotic's spy cameras picked up your initial surge, which was the basis for our own power."
Vegito smirked. "So that's it, you two are Androids."
"The technical term is Cyborg."
"Even in this world you're still a brainy know-it-all."
"HEY!" Both Twilights yelled.
Princess Twilight then decided to keep her mouth shut, as she didn't want to draw anymore attention to herself.
The Scarred Sunset then cracked her knuckles. "I'm starting to get bored, can we hurry up and do this?!"
"You two caught me at a good time, I have a lot of pent up anger and a good fight is just what I need."
"Enjoy that feeling while you can, you're not gonna be smiling when we're through!" Sunset promised.
Vegito flashed them another smirk before instantly powering up into a Super Saiyan.
"There it is, that massive power." The other Twilight noted.
"Oh yeah, this is going to be fun."
Super Vegito cast a glance back at his friends. "I'm sorry I won't be able to help you, but I know you can beat the Dazzlings."
The pair of Androids looked over at one another and nodded, only to then look back at the Saiyan.
Everybody else was still shocked by what was going on at the moment, and then even more so when the fight started. It was so fast they didn't really see it happen, and the next thing they knew Vegito had grabbed both of his opponents' fists. They then watched as he threw both of them high into the air, and without wasting any time he took off after. Their eyes followed along but that wouldn't last, as the moment Vegito had gotten to their level their movement was no longer visible. The three of them were fighting so fast that none of them could keep up.
Tapion was trying his best, but even he couldn't track it all. 'I feel like I should help him but...'
Twilight and Sunset found themselves in a fast-paced brawl with the Saiyan. They had been implemented with advance fighting knowledge and techniques, but that didn't seem to be doing much. Their attacks were either dodged or blocked, and while they were struggling a bit their opponent seemed to be having an easy time. In spite of the slight disadvantage they didn't let up, in fact it only made them even more determined. One way or another they were going to kill Vegito, it was inevitable.
Super Vegito managed to grab a hold of Sunset and throw her across the horizon. He then turned in time to block one of Twilight's punches, but as he was about to retaliate with one of his own he froze. He was staring at the face of one of his best friends, and although he knew full well she was the enemy he just couldn't hit her. Sure his friends made him angry sometimes, but he would never hurt them. He was rewarded for his kind gesture, which came in the form of a hard punch to the jaw. The Super Saiyan was sent flying, but used his energy to stop himself from going too far.
That was when Sunset rejoined her friend. "Hm, he seems shaken up."
"His love for his friends will be his downfall."
'Just what the hell was that?! Those two aren't your friends, they're the enemy! Now stop holding back and fight for real!' Super Vegito's inner voice chastised.
"You could make it easier on yourself and give up now, you're just going to die anyway." Twilight stated.
"Sorry but that's not happening, if you want me dead you'll have to work for it. In fact I'd say you two are in trouble. I live for battles like this; fighting is in my blood. You two clearly didn't get enough information on me, or else you'd be performing better."
"What we lack in skill we more than make up for in endurance." Sunset smirked.
"It's all part of our design, to be the perfect fighting machines. Dr. Robotic had made a huge break through. If only society hadn't rejected him, they could've benefited greatly from his achievements."
Vegito smirked. "Let me guess, you also have infinite energy, which I can't sense, and you won't ever get tired?"
"As I said, we're perfect." Twilight grinned.
"I highly doubt that, but I am pretty curious to see what tricks you have up your sleeves. With all the bullshit I've been dealing with lately I could use a good fight."
Sunset aimed her right palm at him. "That makes two of us."
The Super Saiyan merely waited as an orange-colored ki sphere was heading toward him, and at the last moment he swatted it away. Not a moment after he remembered they were still near the school, which meant they were in a city. Luckily it had gone upwards instead of downwards, and exploded harmlessly in the sky. Still he felt the need to take the fight to a more deserted place, but before he could even start to think he was kicked in the stomach by Twilight. He saw her coming for a left hook, so he went in with a right. He got her in the stomach, and while stunned the Saiyan threw her across the horizon.
That was when Sunset rejoined the fight, and she came in swinging. "What's wrong, scared to go all out?"
"I'm not going all out with all of these people around." He answered while continuously blocking her attacks.
"Say no more." She then ceased her attack and aimed a palm at a nearby building.
In an instant Super Vegito rushed her, hitting her in the face with his fist. He then grabbed a hold of her arm and placed two fingers on his forehead, and in an instant they vanished. A few moments later he reappeared back near the school, and this time set his sights on a confused Twilight. He quickly teleported behind her, grabbed her shoulder, and then teleported again. Vegito had taken his opponents somewhere far away, to a place with the least amount of life around. He wasn't sure exactly where he was, but there was plenty of snow and ice.
Upon seeing her enemy return Sunset instantly dashed toward him. "There you are!"
Now in an empty arena the Saiyan wouldn't have to worry as much about collateral damage, and was free to fight more seriously. With that in mind he dodged Sunset's oncoming charge, and then countered with a savage kick that sent her crashing into the ground. Not a moment later he was hit hard in the back, courtesy of Twilight. As he turned to face her he was struck in the face by a fist, only to then be kneed right in his jaw. He staggered back a bit, but before he could recover Sunset rejoined the fray and elbowed him right in the ribs.
They both then began hammering him with blows, taking advantage of his helplessness. Twilight punched him in the gut, and then Sunset kicked him in the chest. They pummeled him for several more moments before firing point blank blasts, launching him far across the horizon. Without any hesitation they went to pursue, and it didn't take long to catch up to him. Another bombardment followed, and that time they were actually managing to overwhelm him. At one point he managed to start blocking, but it was clear that they held the advantage.
Super Vegito quickly realized he was in trouble, so he did the only thing he could. He brought his arms in close before spreading them out wide, unleashing a wave of ki. His impromptu move had caught his opponents off guard, and gave him some room to breath. He wasn't going to waste the opportunity though, and quickly went on the offensive. He dashed toward Twilight blasted her in the stomach with a point blank ki blast, sending her flying. Immediately after he charged Sunset, and hit her with a savage uppercut.
She instantly shot back with a punch of her own, connecting with the Saiyan's cheek. The two then went back and forth, exchanging blows at a rapid pace. Their movements became blurs as they battled head-to-head, and at first neither side had an advantage. Eventually one of Sunset's fists broke through, hitting her opponent right in the gut. She followed that up ramming her elbow onto his back, sending him plummeting into the snowy ground below. A satisfied smirk came to her face as she watched him crash.
"You know I'm starting to enjoy this."
Twilight then rejoined her friend, having recovered from that energy blast. "This guy is tough, and his skill is impeccable."
"It's a shame he has to die, I doubt anyone else on this planet will provide a challenge."
Vegito then emerged from the rubble, and flew up to his opponents' level. "I've gotta hand it to you both, you're not half bad."
"You might say we're quick learners." Twilight stated.
"And it won't be long before we're even better than you."
He cracked his knuckles as his aura flared. "In that case you better be prepared, I can be a very strict teacher."
The Rainbooms were now at the concert stage, setting up for the final Battle of the Bands. It was helpful in clearing their minds after what they had just witnessed, although they were all still a little shaken up by it. First they get booed off the stage, and somehow still made it the finals, only to then see Twilight and Sunset show up out of nowhere. They were their human equivalents, but something terrible had happened to them. Apparently the pair had become Androids, or Cyborgs or whatever, and had a desire to kill. How any of that happened was beyond them, and all they could hope for was Vegito's safe return.
Tapion had left the group to go help Vegito, having found his courage in spite of the odds against him.
Sunset Shimmer just couldn't believe what she had just seen, but unfortunately it had all been real. When she first went through the portal she didn't see another version of her, and so she never really thought about the possibility. Apparently there had been another Sunset out there all along, one who had a seemingly rough life. It hadn't just been the nasty scar, or all of those remarks, it was more of a feeling she got. Everything the other Sunset said had been true though, even if she didn't want to admit. Back in Equestria she had a great life, a life most Ponies could only dream of... but she selfishly cast it aside. She had everything she could've hoped for, but even that hadn't been enough of a reason for her to stay.
That encounter had been like looking into a mirror, and the reflection had horrified her. It had also put some things into perspective, and gave her a lot to think about. Her counterpart also had a thirst for power and revenge it seemed, and they both did whatever it took to get it. One of them turned into a demon, and the other a machine. When she became a demon she had been saved, and given a second chance. Her life had turned around, and she knew she was on the right path. What was going to happen to the other Sunset, and what about Twilight?
Twilight was also shook up by that encounter, as the last thing she expected to see was another version of her. She should've realized that was the case, but since the other her wasn't known to anyone she didn't think much about it... except for Pinkie Pie, who's random remark about a twin sister turned out to be true somewhat. The part that really stood out was the fact that the other version of her was a cyborg, which according to Vegito were known to be dangerous. She didn't know how or why it happened, and she wondered if she could handle the answer.
"This doesn't make any sense. Everybody hates us. Doesn't anybody else think it's strange that we're the ones that made it to the finals?" Fluttershy asked her friends.
"Very strange."
They all looked over and saw Trixie and her band.
"What are you doing here, Trixie? Pretty sure the losers are supposed to be up there in the cheap seats." Rainbow taunted.
"The Great and Powerful Trixie is the most talented girl at Canterlot High. It is I who deserves to be in the finals. And I will not..." Trixie snapped her finger and one of her band mates pulled a lever, opening a trapdoor below Sunset and the Rainbooms. "...be denied!"
Spike meanwhile had been behind a nearby amp, and when he poked his head out he saw his friends were gone.
"See you never!" Trixie taunted before the door closed.
While Trixie was distracted Spike slowly left the stage, in an attempt to go and find some help.
Watching from afar were the Dazzlings. "Told you someone would give them a shove."
"She didn't shove them. She pulled a lever." Sonata said.
Aria groaned. "Go back to sleep, Sonata."
Super Vegito had been fighting for a good while, and despite some bruises and ripped clothing he was holding up fine. He had to admit they were doing a lot better, and perhaps he underestimated just how much they were improving. It made the battle more interesting, and also harder. Obviously he appreciated the challenge, but it was getting pretty intense. No matter how many times he knocked them down they got right back up, and fought back twice as hard. He was still enjoying himself though, in spite of the odds against him.
Twilight had just been sent flying with a kick, but she quickly recovered and rejoined the battle. She saw her friend get kneed in the gut, only to then be struck in the back by the Saiyan's combined fists. She returned the favor by punching him in the cheek, followed up with a kick to his mid-section. Several more strikes followed, each hitting harder than the last. Her precision was deadly, as she was aiming for all potential weak spots. She already had a comprehensive knowledge of the human body, and with her new found skills in fighting she could use both to her advantage.
Meanwhile Super Vegito was trying to get his guard up, but found it hard to do so. An idea then came to his head, which was punctuated with two fingers. In an instant he vanished, freeing himself from that onslaught. His body had been banged up, but he was still in fighting shape. He only had a moment to rest as Twilight came flying right at him, ready to go at it again. All of sudden he ducked, and Sunset came flying over him foot first. As he went to counter Sunset spun 180 degrees, and the front of her boot slammed into the side of his head. He went flying towards the ground, but was able to make a decent landing.
He then found himself moving backward at a rapid pace, as his enemies had quickly begun shooting energy blasts at him. It was actually pretty challenging dodging all of the incoming projectiles, but his quick wits and speed were serving him well. He was practically bouncing from one spot to the next, and although he could keep going a better alternative presented itself. Super Vegito quickly placed two fingers to his forehead, and then instantly vanished.
By now they were getting wise to his tricks, and they both turned to where he was going to appear. The duo fired off energy blasts, and not a moment after their target re-appeared. Their combined attack struck him with a loud boom, creating a thick cloud of smoke. Instead of waiting they charged right into the smoke, and their punches hit their marks. Sunset hit his nose, and Twilight struck his gut. They then took turns kicking him, aiming for his exposed areas. Twilight got some good shots in on his legs, while Sunset aimed for his ribs. After several more strikes they each grabbed a leg and then hurled him over their shoulders.
Super Vegito hit the ground hard, considering he was now lying in a crater. He was quick to get back to his feet though, and as he did his opponents landed near him.
"Face it Vegito, there's no way you can win." Twilight stated matter-of-factly.
"You're putting up a good fight, but you can't hold out forever." Sunset added.
He cracked his knuckles before stretching a bit. "That's where you're wrong, I could do this all day. I'm in my element right now, and I haven't even come close to using my full power."
"Is that right?" Twilight questioned.
With a roar his aura flared, and it seemed slightly larger than before. Super Vegito then ascended high up into the air, and his opponents were quick to follow. As he was flying he unleashed two beams from his hands, aimed at each Android. His blasts were dodged, but he had been prepared for that. Dashing to his left brought him closer to Twilight, who was unprepared for his attack. He punched her in the cheek before landing a series of swift kicks to her mid-section. One final punch to the gut sent her flying in the opposite direction.
Out of the corner of his eye Super Vegito noticed Sunset heading his way, and as such pivoted to face her. Not a moment later he was struck in the back by an energy blast, only for a second one to graze his right side. It tore through his shirts and left a bad burn mark, as well as making him vulnerable for an attack. His nose was once again hit hard, that time by Sunset's knee. Blood was pouring out of it, but that was the least of his problems. His chest was hit hard by several punches, followed by an uppercut landing on his jaw.
As she was about to go for another strike her arm was caught, and she couldn't break free. Not a moment later she was taken for a little spin, and after a few rotations she was released from the Saiyan's grip. Sunset went spiraling through the air, and as she did she noticed Twilight heading her way. Her friend went to catch her, and after giving a quick nod the two went full speed ahead.
Super Vegito brought his guard up, and readied himself for what was to come. His two opponents came in swinging, but with some precise movements he avoided their initial attacks. He had twisted his body about 90 degrees to dodge Sunset's punch, and then ducked under Twilight's kick. As he spun to face them he instantly crossed his arms, barely shielding him in time from their oncoming fists. His defense was then put under constant pressure as his enemies pummeled him, using both their hands and feet. It wasn't long before his guard lowered, leaving the rest of his body exposed.
Twilight and Sunset continued their assault, not letting up for a second. After a few moments they stopped only to then unleash a combined wave of energy, which sent their opponent flying. They then fired off dozens of ki blasts, which were successfully hitting the Saiyan for the most part. Sunset then broke away and flew toward Super Vegito, all the while Twilight was still firing. As soon as Sunset closed the gap she swung her leg, and her shin collided with her opponent's shoulder. That was when Twilight suddenly appeared, and she came in swinging with a hard cross to the face.
Super Vegito went flying into the ground, embedding himself into a deep crater.
Just as Tapion found his nerve and went to help his friend, Vegito had vanished and taken his opponents with him. As to where they had gone Tapion had no clue, but at least he could use his senses to easily locate his friend. It seemed his friend took the battle far away, with nobody around. That was good thinking, as fighting in the city would surely result in civilians getting hurt or worse. He had already traveled a bit to aid Vegito, but he was having second thoughts more and more as he went. He obviously wanted to help his friend, but there wasn't much he could offer. The power difference was just too big, and Tapion would probably end up getting in the way more than anything.
He was kicking himself for not being stronger, but to get to Vegito's level would take many many years. Tapion figured he'd be better off with the others, even if his gut told him to help fight. It was better to play it safe rather than rush in and possibly die. That being said he felt more people had arrived at the concert, which was most likely starting soon. Something was off though, and although he couldn't really explain it he knew he had to go back. If he couldn't help Vegito beat those Androids, he would help the girls beat the Sirens.
His aura flared as Tapion turned around, now making his way back to his other friends. Thankfully his friends were all alive, nor were their lives in danger, but he still knew something wasn't right. The fact that Trixie and her band were around wasn't helping, even if she could've just been there to show support... but given what he's seen from her that likely wasn't the case. Either way he intended to find out what was going on, and help his friends no matter what. He felt Spike was elsewhere, probably seeking help.
'Don't worry girls, I won't let you down!'
Super Vegito went flying across the sky, having just been punched in the face by Twilight. As he stopped his unexpected flight Sunset appeared behind him, and was helpless to defend himself from her attack. He was promptly kicked in the back of the head, right before her knee struck his ribs. Not a moment after Super Vegito was punched in his left cheek, courtesy of Twilight. At that point he was getting relentlessly pummeled, with no chance of countering. The only reprieve came in the form of a kick to his gut, which launched him across the sky.
The duo then dashed toward him, only splitting off to strike from multiple sides. As she drew closer Sunset placed her feet together, and then rotated her body backward. Her boots slammed into his chin, sending the Super Saiyan reeling. She was about to follow up with a jab, but she had been kneed in the stomach before she could do so. That was when Twilight came in, and she came in swinging. Twilight nailed Super Vegito in the cheek with a hard punch, and then raised her other fist to uppercut him.
At that point Sunset had recovered and went to attack. She charged up energy in her left hand, only to unleash it right into Super Vegito's face. She watched him go flying in the opposite direction, but only for a moment before she and Twilight resumed their assault. They quickly reached him and both delivered savage kicks, sending their opponent down toward the nearby mountain. Without warning they both proceeded to fire a volley of energy blasts, and while they mostly hit their mark some shots strayed a bit. Their constant firing was destroying the landscape, and the mountain was beginning to crumble.
After about a hundred shots they stopped, and then took a moment to appreciate their work. As they were about to resume an explosion erupted from the rubble, and with his aura flaring their enemy came straight toward them. Sunset barely had time to block the oncoming punch, but then the other fist struck her right in the gut. Twilight tried to assist, but she was quickly kicked in the face and sent back a ways. Sunset threw a punch of her own, but the Super Saiyan dodged it. She then swung her left leg high, which was caught before it could make any impact. Not a moment later she was flung toward the ground hard.
Super Vegito then set his sights on Twilight, who had just recovered from his initial kick. He placed two fingers to his forehead and instantly vanished, and he reappeared right behind Twilight. By the time she realized what happened it was too late, as Super Vegito's conjoined fists were already impacting against her skull. He noticed the pair had landed near each other, which gave him an idea. He quickly aimed his left palm down toward them and fired off a Super Big Bang, which struck the ground with a loud boom.
He then spit some blood out of his mouth, and then took a moment to stretch. His body was covered with cuts and bruises, and his blue shirt had been torn to shreds. In spite of his condition he still was ready to keep fighting, knowing full well he had lots of power to spare. Of course he couldn't get reckless, as the duo were actually putting up a great fight, but he wanted to see how far he could go before finishing it. Although at the rate they were going Super Vegito figured he'd have to end it sooner rather than later, and yet he felt a desire to have the battle go on forever.
Reality came back hard as Twilight and Sunset returned to the fray, doing so with a punch and kick respectively. He had blocked their attacks, but that didn't deter either of them. Super Vegito soon found himself on the receiving end of a massive pummeling, and he was barely managing to hold off their punches and kicks. It was a great workout, and if his life weren't on the line he'd probably be having more fun... that, and because he was basically battling two of his friends, one closer than the other. He kept his nerve though, and had all of his focus on the task at hand.
He was giving it his all, but he was slowly but surely getting worn down. One of Twilight's kicks got him in his left thigh, which distracted him allowing Sunset to get a right hook in. He recoiled from the impact, but before he could even try and counter Twilight had struck him in his right shoulder hard. Super Vegito let out a scream of pain before being punched in the nose. Another fist hit him in the sternum, and then a knee dug itself into his gut. Two point blank range blasts, one to the face and one to the chest, sent him flying off into the far horizon.
Placing two fingers two his forehead, Super Vegito vanished just as his enemies were about to reach him. He was now behind them and already in motion, with his hands now cupped together at his left side. A ball of energy rapidly formed, which he then unleashed upon the Androids. His Kamehameha Wave hit both of his targets, who had turned around just a little too late. He felt no resistance, which was a good sign. His aura soon flared as he poured more power into his attack, making the energy beam expand in size.
Several moments passed before he ceased firing, and slowly dropped to the ground. He simply needed a moment to catch his breath, as he had put a lot of power behind that Kamehameha. It probably didn't finish either of them off, but it surely must've done some good damage. Regardless he still had plenty of fight left in him, and he knew Twilight and Sunset did as well. That was when he noticed the two of them flying toward him, and then landed several feet away from him.
"That was an impressive attack." Twilight noted, as she glanced down at her somewhat tattered Crystal Prep uniform.
Sunset tore off the remaining sleeve of her purple undershirt, as well as the shredded remains of her black jacket. "You're certainly full of surprises aren't you?"
Super Vegito smirked. "I've done this sort of thing before."
Sunset smiled wickedly. "Well I hope you're enjoying yourself, because you won't be making it out of this fight alive."
After having fallen through the trap door the Rainbooms had been stuck, and they weren't really sure how much time had passed. All they knew was the concert was starting, with Trixie and her band performing in their place. If Vegito and Tapion hadn't left they definitely wouldn't be stuck beneath the stage, but fate seemed to have other plans. No matter how many times Rainbow attacked the door it wouldn't budge, but to her credit she was the only one trying to escape. Everyone else was more downtrodden, as the day just kept on getting worse.
"Give it up, Rainbow Dash. You've been tryin' at this for hours. It's not gonna open."
"It's my fault we're all stuck down here, so the least I can do is try to open this damn door!"
Fluttershy gasped. "Rainbow Dash!"
"I'm sorry... to all of you. I've been unfairly running our band, but I know now it's not all about me. I let my ego takeover and got us booed off stage, and then I just had to antagonize Trixie. I should've known she'd try and sabotage us, but I was too arrogant to see it. Now we're stuck down here, and the Sirens will takeover."
"It's alright darling, we were all pretty shaken up after... well, you know." Rarity said.
"Yeah the party isn't over until I say it's over!" Pinkie declared.
"I think what she means is, we'll find a way out this. You've all taught me a lot about friendship, and to be honest what I saw earlier really opened up my eyes. If it weren't for all of you I would be more like that other Sunset Shimmer, and all because I was too arrogant to see that I had everything I needed back in Equestria. I don't want to make a mistake like that again. I know I still have plenty to learn about friendship, but I'm willing to do whatever it takes to help you defeat the Sirens!" Sunset said.
As her friends had been talking Twilight had only been partially listening, as she was in deep thought about the situation. She too felt responsible for their current predicament. She was supposed to be the hero coming to help her friends, but instead she let them all down. Even with her magical know how she was powerless, and unlike in her original form she couldn't access her magic willingly. They were all at their lowest points, and the last time something like that happened she had used her magic to fix it. There was no fixing things this time, and judging by how things were going Vegito was going to be the one to save the day... assuming he won his battle. She didn't want to disappoint him, but there didn't seem to be any solution.
That was when she remembered her experience with the Supreme Kais, and how it had changed her both physically and mentally. She had noticed a difference in her human body from her first trip. Her strength had increased in her Pony form, so it only stood to reason she was stronger in her current form as well. Of course that didn't mean she could break down the door, but maybe she could punch through it. The door appeared to be wooden, or at the very least not made of metal. She wasn't entirely sure she could do it, but it was worth a try.
With her plan in motion Twilight stood up. "Rainbow, step away from the door."
Rainbow Dash, who was still a little shaken, slowly moved aside.
Twilight took several steps before stopping, which placed her right in front of the door. She took in a deep breath before exhaling, all the while raising her right hand. She made a tight fist which she pointed right next to the doorknob. Although she couldn't see them she had a feeling her friends were confused, which she couldn't blame them for. Twilight stood there for several moments focusing on her inner strength, at the same time trying to channel it into her fist. It seemed to be working as her hand began glowing with a purplish aura.
Everyone looked on with wide eyes.
Without warning Twilight brought her left arm back, only to then thrust it forward with full force. To the surprise of everyone her fist broke through the door, as her hand was still able to move. Luckily she had seen Vegito clench his fists more than enough times to replicate it, and since none of her bones were broken she took that as a sign of success. She then maneuvered her arm to reach the handle, and then turned it to open the door. Unfortunately as she removed her arm she saw a long cut, but it wasn't actually that deep. It was certainly visible that something had cut her, yet blood wasn't pouring out of the wound.
"That... was one of the coolest things I have ever seen!" Rainbow exclaimed, having seemingly snapped out of her funk.
"Good heavens darling, I didn't realize you were so strong."
"What was that?" Fluttershy questioned.
"It's a bit of a long story, but to put it simply I had my potential unlocked. Basically I'm now able to harness all of my inner power, that up until recently I had been keeping locked up."
Applejack scratched her head in confusion. "So does that mean yer like Vegito now?"
Twilight shook her head. "While I am more powerful than the last time you saw me I am nowhere near Vegito's level, nor do I have his kind of fighting skill or abilities. I could ask him to train me, but even then it could take me a lifetime to even get a quarter of the way there."
"That doesn't mean you wouldn't still get super strong!" Pinkie Pie protested.
"Well that's a topic for another time, but right now we need to stop the Sirens."
"But Trixie is performing right now, and then the Dazzlings will be going up." Fluttershy said.
"That doesn't matter, we can still find a way to play our music. Now come on!"
As the girls were about to run outside two people and a dog ran over to them.
"Spike!" Twilight called out.
Spike instantly jumped into her arms. "Sorry I took so long. I had to find somebody who... um, what happened to your arm?"
"The door was locked so I kinda punched through it."
All Spike could do was stare at Twilight shocked.
That was when Tapion approached them, all the while reaching into his pocket. "Vegito gave me a couple of these last night, and it looks like you need one."
"If I may ask, what are you doing here? We thought you were helping Vegito?" Rarity questioned.
"He had taken the fight somewhere else by the time I reached the inner city, and admittedly I was heading over to help him... but after a certain point I decided against it. I'd only get in Vegito's way, and I know he can handle himself just fine. I'm sorry I left you when you clearly needed me, but I won't let you down again. No matter what it takes we're taking down those Sirens, I swear it!"
Twilight flashed him a bright smile as she took the Senzu Bean and ate it, and the wound on her arm quickly closed up and faded away.
"Whoa!" All of her human friends replied.
"Thanks Tapion." It was then that she noticed Vinyl Scratch was with them. "Wait, how come she's not under their spell?"
"Never takes off her headphones." Spike answered.
Vinyl Scratch gave a thumbs up.
The fact that they had a DJ on their side gave Twilight an idea. "With Vinyl Scratch's help our music should still be able to heard by the crowd, even if we aren't playing on stage."
"Are you suggesting we play while the Sirens are singing, thus making it a literal battle of the bands?" Rainbow asked, and received a nod in response. "Awesome!"
"Ah guess it's time ta put yer counter-spell inta action."
"I just hope it'll be enough to beat the Dazzlings." Fluttershy said with a slight frown.
Rainbow Dash put a hand on her shoulder. "Your songs are totally awesome Fluttershy, I know we can win over the crowd!"
Hearing that made Fluttershy smile brightly.
"This is going to be so much fun!" Pinkie yelled.
"We're about to save the world here. Personally, ah think we should do it in style. Rarity?"
"I thought you'd never ask!" Rarity exclaimed as she pulled out a costume rack with six outfits hanging off of it.
Sunset figured none of those were for her, but if she were being honest she didn't mind. The real treat would be helping her friends stop the Sirens, whatever that entailed. Perhaps they would let her join the band, maybe even sing with them during the battle. The song they had ended up going with didn't include a part for her, nor did she request to be included. Her friends had the magic of friendship within them, which they were going to need for the upcoming battle.
Sunset had magic at one point, but it had turned her into a demon. She had been rid of the demon but there would always be magic inside of her, and what if instead of helping her friends she hindered them. No, those kinds of thoughts weren't helping. She then thought back to her conversation with Vegito, and all of the wisdom he imparted on her. She didn't need to keep doubting herself, nor did she need to prove that they were all truly friends. It didn't matter if she wasn't on stage with them, so long as she was there for her friends they would be there for her.
Trixie's performance ended in a huge spectacle, with plenty of fireworks to dazzle the crowd. After leaving the audience cheering Trixie and her band walked off stage. "Try to top that!"
"Oh, gosh! I don't know if we can!" Adagio said sarcastically, only for she and her sisters to laugh.
The three of them then got ready to make their entrance, all the while a bright light shone behind them. As they walked on stage they began chanting, which quickly got the crowd's attention. While they didn't have any of the Rainbooms magic they still had gathered plenty, and the Sirens were only going to get more powerful as their song went on. They were confident that they would be able to beat the Rainbooms if it came to it, but thanks to Trixie it never would. All that was left to do was sing and absorb more magic.
"Ah-ha, ah-ah-ah, ah-ah-ah
Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah
Ah-ha, ah-ah-ah, ah-ah-ah
Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah"
"Welcome to the show"
"Ah-ah-ah-ah, ah"
"We're here to let you know"
"Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah"
"Our time is now"
"Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah"
"Your time is running out"
"Ah, ah, ah"
"Ah-ha, ah-ah-ah, ah-ah-ah
Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah..."
Meanwhile the Rainbooms had just finished getting ready, which meant changing and grabbing their instruments. The six of them, Sunset, Spike, and Tapion were now standing on a nearby hill, a little ways from the stage. It was now or never, and if they couldn't stop the Dazzlings right then and there it was all over. There was no guarantee that Vegito would win, and they couldn't just wait for him to solve their problem. They had faith that they could do it, they just needed to truly embrace their feelings for one another.
Rainbow then turned to Twilight. "So, how are we supposed to play over them from up here?"
That was when Vinyl Scratch pulled up with her car, which then converted into a moderately sized DJ setup complete with lights.
Tapion marveled at the sight, having never seen anything like it before... aside from Vegito's ship, but that was slightly different.
"Feel the wave of sound
As it crashes down
You can't turn away
We'll make you wanna sta-a-a-ay
We will be adored
Tell us that you want us
We won't be ignored
It's time for our reward
Now you need us
Come and heed us
Nothing can stop us now"
During their singing the Sirens had gained more and more power, which brought out a glimpse of the their true selves. Jagged wings appeared on each of their backs, and their hair grew longer. They also had gained Pony-like ears, and their bodies were glowing with a red aura. If they had managed to turn the Rainbooms against each other they would've been even more powerful, but they were still confident in their chances. That was when a sudden a drum beat was heard, and it didn't take the Dazzlings long to locate the source.
Thanks to Vinyl Scratch they were able to blast their music from afar, and had begun playing their counter-spell on the grassy hill.
"Oh-oh, oh-whoa-oh
I've got the music in me
Oh-oh, oh-whoa-oh"
Rainbow Dash performed a quick little guitar shred, and as she and her friends kept playing the crowd soon turned towards them.
"Don't need to hear a crowd
Cheering out my name
I didn't come here seeking
Infamy or fame"
"The one and only thing
That I am here to bring
Is music, is the music
Is the music in my soul
Gonna break out (Out!)
Set myself free, yeah
Let it all go (Go!)
Just let it be, yeah
Find the music in your heart
Let the music make you start
To set yourself apart"
Adagio and her sisters noticed the Rainbooms' transformation, and could feel the massive power of their combined magic. "So the Rainbooms want to turn this into a real Battle of the Bands? Then let's battle!"
"What we have in store (ah-ah)
All we want and more (ah-ah)
We will break on through (ah-ah)
Now it's time to finish you!"
After finishing the verse Adagio's eyes started glowing red, and a glowing ball of magic formed from her necklace. It soon spread over to each of her sisters, making their eyes glow red as well. A large burst of magic was then unleashed, masking the Dazzlings behind a blinding light. They then each threw their arms up into the sky, and they used their power to create entities of their true Siren forms.
The Rainbooms saw the three magical beings coming toward them, but they were ready. They knew the only way to stop them was to keep fighting, and so they continued to play their instruments. Twilight let out a set of vocals against Adagio, but it was returned with full force. That didn't deter Twilight, who along with her friends fought against her. When Sonata and Aria joined in it had become a more even battle, but the Sirens were slowly gaining the upper hand. It got to the point where they had been pushed to the ground, but then suddenly the sirens were letting up.
Against the loud music coming from the various speakers Tapion was playing his ocarina, hoping to at the very least distract the Sirens. His plan seemed to have worked, as one of the Sirens had turned their attention to him. Try as she might she could do him no harm, and any kind of attack she threw he was able to dodge. He then noticed the other two trying to get her to focus, which ironically broke their focus. The important thing was Tapion had provided his friends some reprieve, and hopefully that would be enough to secure the win.
Twilight looked over to Tapion and gave him a nod, and then she looked between her friends who also nodded.
Sunset and Spike had been off to the side, much like Tapion had been before he moved closer to the stage, and she was nearly caught off guard by a microphone flying at her head.
"This is your chance to show everyone the real you." Twilight said.
"But, I don't even know what to sing."
"Just sing whatever's in your heart!" Fluttershy yelled in encouragement.
Upon seeing the smiling faces of her friends Sunset realized she truly did belong, and a tear nearly came to her eye at the thought. As she went to the join the band she paused, and started removing her jacket. She took one last look at it before throwing it aside, no longer having the desire to wear it. That jacket represented the old her, and she didn't want to keep wearing that constant reminder. She had also noticed the other Sunset had been wearing a similar kind of coat, which was all the more reason to not wear it in her mind.
Vinyl Scratch had slowed down the beat as the vocal battle had gone on, but as Sunset was approaching she brought it back up with a steady drum rhythm.
"You're never gonna bring me down
You're never gonna break this part of me
My friends are here to bring me 'round
Not singing just for popularity"
That was when the rest of the Rainbooms came back in, and the background music picked up.
"We're here to let you know
That we won't let it go"
"Our music is a bomb and it's about to blow"
"And you can try to fight
But we have got the light of"
"Friendship on our side!
Got the music in our hearts
We're here to blow this thing apart
And together, we will never
Be afraid of the dark
Here to sing our song out loud
Get you dancing with the crowd
As the music of our friendship
Survives, survives!"
As they had been singing their magic had grown stronger, and they could tell the Dazzlings were getting weaker. Tapion no longer felt the need to play, as his job had been done. Sunset Shimmer felt the magic of friendship swelling within her, and soon enough she underwent a transformation of her own. There was no trace of a demon of any kind, and she could tell that the magic within her now was the right kind. It felt amazing having that kind of magic, almost as much as having her best friends right behind her.
"Got the music in our hearts
We're here to blow this thing apart
And together, we will never
Be afraid of the dark
Here to sing our song out loud
Get you dancing with the crowd
As the music of our friendship
Survives, survives, survives!"
The Rainbooms' magic had manifested itself into a gigantic celestial Alicorn, with a flowing rainbow-colored mane. At that point the entire crowd was singing along to their music, having been completely freed from the Sirens spell. One final blast of rainbow-colored magic to the Sirens was the end for them, as their necklaces had been completely shattered. All of the power the Sirens had was gone, and all that remained were three teenage girls.
After recovering from the blast the Dazzlings noticed their broken amulets, and in spite of that got back up to try and sing anyway.
"We will be adored
Tell us that you want us
We won't be ignored
It's time for our reward..."
The crowd was not enjoying the off-key singing, and let their boos be heard.
With the crowd booing and throwing things the Dazzlings ran off stage.
"Guess that explains why these were so special to them." Sunset noted as she and her friends walked on stage.
"Without those pendants and the magic you brought here from Equestria, they're just three harmless teenage girls." Twilight added.
Flash Sentry then made his way over to the group. "I just wanted to apologize for my behavior earlier, and to say that your performance was amazing!"
Rainbow Dash smiled as she looked between her friends. "Yeah we were all amazing weren't we? Oh and since Twilight will be leaving soon, I'd like to take this opportunity to announce that Sunset Shimmer is the new backup vocals of the Rainbooms. That is, if she wants to join us?"
A big grin came to Sunset's face, only for her to grab a nearby guitar and start shredding. "I also play guitar."
"...We can totally make that work, having two guitars we'll make our band even more awesome!"
"Well I'll let you say goodbye to your friends, feel free to stop by more often."
Twilight offered to shake Flash's hand, but instead she was pulled into a hug. "I'll see what I can do."
After a few more seconds Flash broke off the embrace, and then waved goodbye to everyone before walking away.
That was when Trixie came running up to the Rainbooms. "You may have vanquished the Dazzlings, but you will never have the amazing, show-stopping ability of the Great and Powerful Trixie!"
A smoke bomb clouded their vision, and when it cleared Pinkie Pie gasped. "She's gone! Oh, wait. There she is."
Trixie was having trouble making it over the back of the bleachers, and ended up falling over the other side. "Trixie's okay!"
"This has all been very nice, but I feel like we're forgetting something." Rarity stated while putting a hand to her chin.
"Vegito hasn't returned from his fight yet." Twilight said.
"You don't think he's hurt do you?" Fluttershy questioned.
Tapion then made his presence known. "I can sense him, he's still alive. His power isn't as high as it was at the start, he must be in one tough battle."
Spike frowned. "I just hope he's okay."
"I think I'm starting to get why you like fighting so much!"
Super Vegito had been fighting hard, but even he had his limits. Said limits were being put to the test as the battle against the pair of Androids continued, which had been going on for quite a while at that point. Every time he'd gain some headway the duo would come back swinging, and thanks to their unlimited stamina they would keep on doing so. Unless he landed more critical blows or used more of his power he was done for, and as much as he hated to admit it he needed to end the fight as soon as possible.
With that in mind he abruptly broke away from the big brawl they were having, and descended down onto the ground.
Twilight and Sunset decided to play along, which then led to a standoff.
"What can I say, you two far exceeded my expectations. I wanted a good fight, and that's what you gave me. Unfortunately this is where the fun ends, because at this rate you two will wear me down and kill me."
"So you finally realize your fate?" Twilight questioned.
"Oh I'm not finished yet, I still have plenty of energy left."
Sunset quirked a brow. "Oh really?"
The Super Saiyan smirked. "That's right, so I hope you're prepared, you're about to see a glimpse of real power."
They both smirked as they watched his aura flare, but his power up had been pretty minimal according to their scanners. That was when Super Vegito's aura spiked even higher, and his power started rising. Cracks soon formed within the ground around them, and a harsh wind was blowing right in their faces. The land beneath them was shaking, and it was getting a little tough to keep balance. Sparks of electricity formed around the Super Saiyan, and his hair spiked up a bit more if that were possible. Both Twilight and Sunset were left in shock.
"Even with all of my injuries I'm still far superior to you, so I suggest you surrender now. It's not too late to turn your lives around, trust me."
After having regained her composure Sunset sneered. "There's no way I'm giving up, I don't care how strong you are!"
Super Vegito merely stood in place as Sunset Shimmer came flying at him, all the while pulling her fist back for a punch. His speed was far greater than hers, and as such he easily dodged her attack. He grinned as she went in for another strike, only to miss again. A flurry of punches and kicks were then sent his way, but he avoided every single attack thrown. It wasn't long before he countered, and his jab to her stomach left her gasping for air. He then placed a hand to her chest and fired an energy blast, and she went flying backwards.
Twilight had been frozen in fear, but when she saw her friend hit the ground she ran over to her. "Sunset are you... oh no..."
Sunset lay on the ground, with a gaping hole in her chest. "Tw-Twilight... I'm... sorry..."
"No, please do't go! You can't leave me again!"
Super Vegito hadn't meant to use so much power, and while Twilight and Sunset needed to be stopped they also needed to be helped. "Twilight I have something that might help her."
She turned to look at him, and saw some kind of bean in his hand. "Why should I trust you, you're the enemy! My only friend in the world is going to die because of you! My life became hell when Sunset left me, and just when she comes back into my life she has to leave it again! I have nothing now, and I think I finally understand her pain. I'm going to make it up to her though, by carrying out her greatest wish. I'm going to kill every last being on this planet, starting with you!"
His eyes were starting to water, but he fought the urge to cry. "Please Twilight this isn't you, I know you're better than this! I can get you help, there's a better way!"
Twilight had quickly charged him and was attacking with everything she had, but he was dodging all of her strikes. Her anger was rising, and she was having a tough time keeping her composure. Tears were streaming down her face as she threw sloppy attacks in a blind fury. She didn't care what it took though, one way or another she was going to end the Saiyan's life! She was going to avenge her fallen friend, and then see to it that everybody suffered as Sunset had. All she needed to do was take out Vegito, but that was no longer a simple task.
Super Vegito ducked underneath a kick, and then grabbed a hold of her right arm. "We don't have to do this, there's no reason for us to fight."
She grit her teeth before throwing punches with her left hand. "You were all too eager to kill Sunset, and now you've lost your nerve?! Rrrg, stop being a coward and fight me!"
He tightened his grip slightly on her arm before throwing her to the ground, with her body leaving a small trench in the ground as she went skidding across it. It was painful seeing one of his best friends in such a sad state, but there didn't seem to be any reasoning with her. He was running out of ideas, but that wouldn't stop him from trying. There just had to be a way to bring Twilight around, and he needed to figure out what that was and fast.
Twilight stood back up, and she couldn't help but cry. She had let Sunset down, and didn't even have the power to get revenge. What kind of a friend was she, and how could she continue knowing she was a failure? Her fists then clenched tight as she glared up at Vegito, the source of all of her current misery. She then slowly ascended into the air, all the while moving slightly closer to him. Twilight soon stopped, and was now several feet away from Vegito. She noticed the pained look on his face, which made her even more angry.
"Well go ahead, I obviously can't beat you, just kill me right now. My life has been pointless anyway, nothing but constant pain and torture. Everything had been going fine until Sunset left when we were young, leaving me at the mercy of our classmates. I've been bullied ever since that day, and it's only gotten worse as the years have gone by. Nobody likes me, nobody cares about me. I'll bet nobody at Crystal Prep has even noticed that I've been gone, and they surely won't care when I don't come back! So come on, just do it already!"
At that point Vegito couldn't hold back his tears. "Twilight I won't do it, I know there's a better way. Please I'm begging you, just let me help."
She sneered. "I said fight me! DO IT!"
In an instant he moved across the battlefield, hitting Twilight in the stomach with a punch. His attack had left her stunned, and as he pulled his right fist back he sent it in again. Instead of hitting her stomach he hit her in the face, launching her very far across the horizon. Super Vegito flew higher into the air to get a view of where she was going to land, and from the looks of it the landing had been rough. He then aimed his left arm down toward the crash site, all the while building up an energy blast. He built up a good amount of power before firing it, and it hit the ground with a big explosion.
Vegito found himself staring at the dust cloud, all the while letting his Super Saiyan strength fade. He hadn't used his full power in that attack, but he had still put in a decent amount. As much as it pained him he couldn't bring himself to investigate. He only hoped that if his friend survived that she would get the help she needed, or that she finds peace in the afterlife. Either way he decided to leave the battlefield, choosing to fly back to his friends rather than use Instant Transmission. He needed some time to think and reflect, and because his eyes were still watering a bit.
'Twilight, Sunset... I'm sorry...'
With the Battle of the Bands over Tapion, Spike, and the Rainbooms were waiting at the statue outside of Canterlot High. Their battle was over, and they had successfully defeated the Sirens. Now they were waiting for Vegito to return, so that he, Twilight, Spike, and Tapion could return home. They weren't in a hurry or anything, since the portal Discord created was seemingly always open, they just figured he want to head home sooner rather than later. As such they had gathered near the portal, so as to be able to leave after saying goodbye.
"I wonder what's taking him so long?" Rainbow Dash questioned.
"Wow he must really be enjoying himself if the fight is taking this long!" Pinkie exclaimed.
"Hm, well he's been traveling for the past few minutes. He's definitely headed for us, so that must be a good sign."
Several moments later Vegito came in for a landing, touching the ground softly near his friends.
Twilight had expected him to be smirking or gloating about his victory, instead Vegito looked very drained and a little haunted.
A brief silence occurred until Applejack spoke up. "So, uh, how was the fight."
"They won't be harming anyone anymore, that's all you need to know."
Both Twilight and Spike exchanged worried glances, as that had been a very somber response.
Everyone else was also uneasy, and didn't want to pry him any further nor have him elaborate.
"I'm sorry, it's just... well... that fight was tougher than I thought, let's put it at that. Anyway it looks like you took care of the Sirens."
"We had a real battle of the bands and totally whopped their butts!" Rainbow yelled.
"Don't forget to thank Tapion darling, after all he distracted the Sirens and gave us a chance to recover." Rarity stated.
"I had originally planned on helping you Vegito, but I figured I was better off helping the Rainbooms."
Vegito nodded. "Well I guess we should be heading back now, but who knows I'm sure we'll visit you all again soon."
Fluttershy frowned. "I wish you could stay longer."
"Me too. But I have responsibilities in Equestria that I have to get back to. Its citizens need me. But now I can go through the portal whenever I need to. This isn't goodbye. It's just goodbye 'til next time."
Sunset Shimmer smiled. "I'll be sure to write to you from time to time, just to let you know how things are going."
"I'll do the same." Twilight then looked between her three traveling companions. "Ready?"
"Ready!" Spike yelled.
Tapion and Vegito both nodded.
And with one final wave goodbye the group went back to Equestria.
Miles away...
Driving in seemingly the middle of nowhere a man was on his way to visit his grandfather, who had secluded himself into the deserted area long ago. He fondly remembered spending childhood summers with his grandpa, learning a lot about science and technology. At one point his grandfather had been a respected scientist, who he had looked up to greatly... until his recent idea was unveiled, and society turned its back on him. His grandpa was dubbed a crackpot and loon, a mad scientist who had lost touch with reality. It had gotten to the point where his parents forbid him from seeing his granddad.
Of course, he still had faith in his grandfather. Gerald Robotic had been a hailed as a genius once, and he still was. He believed his granddad was still as sharp as ever, and his latest idea was very promising. Of course he had only seen a few blueprints and got a little speech, but it had been very brief... not to mention it had been a long time at that point. He could tell the stress of everything had been getting to his grandfather, and while he wanted to show his support he also knew the old man needed space. Well it had been almost a year since then, and it was time to pay Gerald a visit.
He still knew the path to take to the laboratory, and when he pulled his car up he noticed something was wrong. The large metal doors that blocked the entrance, and could only be opened via a pass-code, had been removed. That was putting it lightly, as it seemed like someone had blasted the doors from the inside. He went in to investigate, and yet there was no signs of an explosion. Curious as to what happened, and because he was starting to worry about his grandfather, he slowly walked deeper into the lab.
"Hello... grandpa... it's me Ivan. Hello?"
As Ivan made it to the top level computer room he saw his grandfather, and he was horrified to see him lying on the ground motionless. He ran over to his grandfather, and saw a hole in his chest. Some blood had gotten on the floor, and some had splattered on his grandpa's ordinarily clean white lab coat. Tears came to his eyes as he quietly mourned his grandfather, who had been coldly rejected by the people who once adored him. They had pushed the old man to insanity, and now Gerald Robotic was dead.
After a few moments he stood up and went to the computer, and thankfully he still remembered the password. After logging in he searched around a bit before finding the security camera system. Obviously the crazy scientist would have secret security cameras in his laboratory, not only to document his research but also for situations like this. Ivan soon found the feed from today and began rewinding it, ready to find out what had happened. He then heard some kind of crash, which had come from outside. He turned his head to the entrance, and he could soon here footsteps.
Suddenly a girl with lavender colored skin and dark blue hair came limping in, but after a while she found it hard to keep doing so and started falling to the ground. "Help... me..."
Author's Note:
My apologies for the long wait, been dealing with some IRL stuff. The idea for the human versions of Twilight and Sunset being androids came to me a long time ago, and I'm glad we've finally gotten to this point. There are many theories about the human version of Sunset Shimmer and this is my take, and her backstory may or may not be elaborated on in the future. Also there might not be too many of these authors notes, as I'm going to start using them only if I have something important to say regarding the story or an update or something. That being said thank you for reading and see you in Season 5!
