Many would imagine Chisa to be terrified as she held her deceased love and looked up at his killer. They would expect her to beg for her life or scream in vain. Normally she would do that, if she wasn't alone. For while on the surface she made herself appear as soft and innocent as a lamb, internally she was a wolf. A cunning she wolf that sunk her claws into the hearts of her puppets and swallowed innocence whole. It didn't matter that the killer standing before her was an elite assassin, she was still a child and children were Chisa's specialty. Especially once her despair instincts emerged.

She took one look at the strange fox girl and prepared to speak. However the girl spoke first surprisingly.

"Chisa Yukizome, right?" Kana asked.

"That's me," Chisa said.

"My Papa wants you alive, so you have immunity from the game," Kana said. "I don't know why though."

"Your papa?" Chisa asked.

"I'm not allowed to tell you who he is," Kana said. "I can tell you that my Papa is the greatest man in the world, so be grateful he has allowed you to live."

"Thank you," Chisa said. "Kana was it?"

"Yes," Kana said.

"What a lovely name for such a cute girl," Chisa smiled.

"Cute?" Kana asked. "Why would you say that when I killed this guy in front of you?"

"He wasn't a good man I'm afraid, so his death didn't matter as much," Chisa lied. "I hope he's in a better place now."

Kana tilted her head.

"Why stay by a bad man's side?" Kana asked.

"The dead deserve some company a while after they've passed," Chisa lied again.

In truth, Chisa stayed by Munakata's side for two reasons. 1. To fill herself with despair and 2. to meet Kana alone since culprits often come back to the scene of their crimes. Both were achieved as she had planned. It was almost too perfect. Now she just needed to get a read on Kana's personality in order to confirm her suspicion. Everything about Kana was too familiar to her and she suspected there was a good reason for that. A wonderful beautiful reason.

"Excuse me while I dispose of the other man," Kana said turning her attention to Juzo's unconscious body.

"Wait!" Chisa blurted out.

"What?" Kana asked.

"It… would be more honorable to fight him one on one," Chisa said.

"Why do you care?" Kana asked.

"I believe it's what your Papa would want," Chisa took a gamble in saying.

Instantly the fur on Kana's tail rose and her eyes became as hot as a wildfire.

"Don't assume what my papa would think!" Kana growled. "He is smarter than all of you pathetic humans!"

"I'm sorry," Chisa bowed. "Forgive my arrogance. You're right."

"Good," Kana calmed down.

Clearly this child idealized her father as if he were god. She wondered if Kana felt this passionate about her mother. That would have to wait though as she had to focus on keeping Juzo alive for a bit longer. She would not be satisfied just to see him die in his sleep. He had to be wide awake and feel every ounce of pain this child planned to inflict on him. Then, if she was lucky, she could find a way to reveal her true colors to him without making the child suspicious of her. After all, Kana's associate had clearly mentioned their distaste for Junko and probably by extension her philosophy. It was a tricky game she was playing right now, but an exhilarating one.

"I'm leaving," Kana said. "I'll kill someone else instead."

"Oh," Chisa was surprised. "Okay. Do you mind if I come with?"

"Okay," Kana sighed.

"May I ask what changed your mind?" Chisa asked.

"This man hurt my papa very badly a long time ago," Kana said. "I want him awake when I return the favor."

"I see," Chisa said.

Chisa could only think of one person. She was almost completely certain of it now, but she had to keep observing just to be safe. One miscalculation and this child could easily distrust her entirely. That's how children were. However, on the opposite side of the spectrum, if she played her cards right, she could make this murderous child her loyal attack dog without the child even knowing she was being used. Such a delicious thought made Chisa smile internally as she walked behind Kana.

For a while the twin walked in silence. Behind Kana, Chisa observed the girl held herself in a certain way reminiscent of another girl she once knew. Despite Kana's pride, she still slouched and swayed her arms as she walked. Chisa could almost see that perfect girl from long ago walking before her, even though she was dead. Just the thought Kana could be related to her dear sweet lamb of a student made her want to embrace the child. However, as much as she wanted to ignore it, she couldn't shake the resemblance to that other girl. The one that had awoken her despair instincts, slaughtered her lamb, corrupted her children, and expected her to be a loyal servant of despair. Her hatred for that vile girl was so strong, that had she had the chance she would have ripped her throat out with her bare teeth and watched the poisonous blood flow out. One can recognize their greatest loves just as much as they can recognize the things they hate the most. However if her theory was correct, Kana was a hybrid of the person she loved the most and the person she hated the most. It was hard to imagine such a blessing and curse. How and why would such a girl exist? That was a question best left for Kana's dear papa.

"Here," Kana said, snapping Chisa back to the present.

The two turned a corner and found the group that went off to look for an escape. Like Juzo, they were passed out from anesthetic. Kana scanned the bodies and headed towards Bandai.

"Shouldn't one of them be awake?" Chisa asked.

"Papa pre programmed the order so you would be the first one awake," Kana explained. "Then I could confirm if you were Chisa or not. After this you'll fall asleep each time."

"Your papa sure thinks of everything," Chisa said.

"He does," Kana said. "Once I kill all these human scumbags, he'll be able to bring back mommy. He's that smart."

"Your mommy?" Chisa asked before Kana bit her tongue.

"Nothing," Kana said. "It doesn't matter to a human like you. You'd never understand."

Chisa tried to reassure the girl, but then she raised her hand. In one fell swoop, Kana slashed Bandhai's throat clean open with her claws. Blood gushed out like a waterfall. Although he was suffocating, the man did not wake from the anesthetic. It was a shame not to see the light fade from his eyes, but since he was just a coworker, Chisa knew she wouldn't have gotten much despair from it anyway. Dying children sated her appetite for despair much more.

She expected Kana to move on after her kill, but the girl was strangely fixated on the blood flowing out. Her tail swished back and forth like a cat then she lifted her hand and let it be drenched in blood.

"Pretty," Kana whispered while the blood flowed down her hand.

She had a clear fascination with blood, likely due to the same vile girl that partly influenced her appearance. For a second Chisa thought about bashing Kana's head in for reminding her too much of that vile girl. Taking a step back though, Chisa knew it would be in her best interest to keep the child alive. Especially since Kana had inhumane strength and reflexes. Was she even human at all without her animal appendages?

"Kana," A familiar and cheerful voice chimed in. "Do you hear me?"

The voice came from the collars.

"I hear you Kitsune," Kana said.

"You have twenty minutes before the meat bags start waking up," Kitsune said.

"Thanks for the update," Kana said.

"I can't wait to see the look on their stupid faces when I announce who died," Kitsune laughed.

"Wait a bit, I'm going to kill one of them as soon as they wake up," Kana said.

"Oh goodie, you're so good at killing," Kitsune said. "I wish I could kill as elegantly as you can."

"Maybe when we get back I can ask Papa to make some modifications to you," Kana said. "Then we can protect Papa together."

"Ooh I can't wait," Kitsune sniffed. "You're the best friend a stuffed fox could ask for."

"You too," Kana smiled.

"I'll keep on the lookout," Kitsune said.

After the communication ended, Kana realized she was smiling and quickly reverted back to her stern expression.

"So Kitsune is your best friend," Chisa said. "She seems very sweet to you."

"Of course, Papa made her just for me," Kana said and proceeded to walk back to the meeting room.

"That's nice," Chisa said. "Do you play games together?"

"Sometimes," Kana said.

"Do you like video games?" Chisa asked, expecting an energetic response.

"Papa gave me some, but they're not as fun as drawing," Kana said much to Chisa's dismay.

"What do you like to draw?" Chisa asked.

"Why do you care?" Kana asked.

"Sorry, it's just a habit of being a housekeeper," Chisa said. "I like to ask questions."

"What's a housekeeper?" Kana asked.

"Oh well, it's someone who keeps the house in order," Chisa explained. "Cleaning whatever is dirty, preparing food, and taking care of the family living in the house."

"Weird," Kana said.

"I guess it is weird to think about a happy functional home existing in the midst of the tragedy," Chisa said.

"It's Junko Enoshima and future foundation's fault," Kana growled. "They're both rotten to the core."

"I see…," Chisa said

"Once they're all dead, I'll have my family," Kana said and proceeded back to the meeting room.

It was funny how much children loved talking about themselves, even if they didn't know it. Thanks to that little fact Chisa found herself gathering way more clues to Kana's story that she otherwise wouldn't get with an adult. Children were so beautifully simple like that, wearing their hearts on their sleeves. I child's little heart mixed with some curry sounded rather delicious now that she thought about it. Chisa shook her head and tried to stay focused as she followed Kana. Her feelings towards the girl were still very conflicted, however, knowing Kana disapproved of Junko Enoshima was a reassuring thought. She was so close to asking Kana if her theory was true, but she needed just one last piece of evidence.

Once the two returned to the meeting room, Chisa's nose was hit with the familiar odor of drying blood. Normally the scent made her excited, but in order to keep up her meek performance she pinched her nose like a normal person would. Kana didn't seem troubled at all, perhaps because she was numb to that kind of scent. Taking a seat on the table, Kana watched Juzo's unconscious body. It was then Chisa had an idea.

"If you'd like, I can pretend to be dead," Chisa said.

"Why would you do that?" Kana asked.

"If he thinks you killed me, he'll be so angry that he'll have no choice but to fight you," Chisa said.

"Do whatever," Kana said. "But if you get in my way, I will hurt you."

"Understood," Chisa nodded.

Taking blood from the pool under Munakata's body, Chisa slathered it onto her clothes and laid down on him. It had always been a sadistic dream of hers to have her dear Munakata's blood on her hands. Yet this present situation was far from anything she could imagine. Despite always acting so big and strong in life, now Munakata was just a heartless husk beneath her. Her heart raced just thinking about how Kana would kill Juzo and then he heard him groan.

"Grr…" she could hear Juzo. "Chisa! What did you do to her?!"

"I don't have to answer to a worthless human being like you," Kana said.

"You… you killed her!" Juzo shouted. "I'll kill you!"

Chisa turned her head to peak at the fight. Kana clearly had the upper hand as she used her tail to block Juzo's attacks. Then once he took a second to breathe, she swatted him with her tail. Of course Juzo refused to give in as he kept fighting. His rage was palpable yet Kana remained unamused. Finally, Juzo moved his fist upward for one of his signature moves. Kana predicted it and instead of stopping it with her hands, she unhinged her jaw and caught the fist in her mouth. Swiftly she bite Juzo's fist clean off. Juzo screamed in complete agony, yelling obscenities while Kana spat the hand out and laughed. Her laugh sent a chill down Chisa's spine, reminding her of that vile girl. The laugh consumed Kana's attention so much that she wasn't seeing Juzo ball his other hand. She was underestimating her opponent and could be in danger, so Chisa did what she thought was best."

"Kana, watch out!" Chisa stood up and shouted.

The two turned to look at her, their eyes emanating different moods.

"Chisa?" Juzo said.

All he needed to do was say her name and within that time, Kana was able to puncture his stomach with her claws. Juzo took a few steps back, biting his tongue from the pain. Then Kana's hand twisted around like a sonic screw straight through to his spine. Juzo, overcome with pain, fell down to the floor. His broken hand cradled his stomach. For once he had no angry taunts left for his enemy. All he had was a question.

"Why?" Juzo asked.

"This is revenge for my Papa," Kana said and pressed a foot on his head. "The boy you brutalized and spat on when all he wanted to do was be by my mommy's side."

"The fuck… are you talking about?!" Juzo yelled.

"Of course a stupid human like you would forget, so let me remind you," Kana growled. "His name is Hajime Hinata!"

At once Juzo's eyes widened. She could see the overwhelming guilt come rushing to him. That's right, if he hadn't hurt Hajime that day, the poor boy probably wouldn't have gone missing and entered the Kamakura project. He was guilty and now he would be rightfully punished.

"I...I'm-," Juzo tried to speak only for Kana to slam her foot down on his head.

The stomp from Kana's superhuman strength pressed down as hard as a block of concrete leaving a deep indent in Juzo's head. She raised her foot again and stomped down over and over like a malfunctioning steam press till Juzo's head was nothing but mashed pieces. However Kana didn't stop, she kept going, stomping every part of his body into that meaty paste his head had become. It was so violent, even Chisa threw up despite all the violence she had seen prior. It paled in comparison to the wrath of this inhumane child. She couldn't afford to die to her.

Eventually, Kana calmed down and stopped mutilating the body beyond recognition. Taking a step back, she wiped the messy remains from her feet and turned to Chisa.

"Why did you help me?" Kana asked.

"Because I realized you are my granddaughter," Chisa smiled. "That makes me your grandmother."

"Grandmother?" Kana asked. "What does that mean?"

"It means your mother, Chiaki Nanami, was my daughter," Chisa said. "It means we are connected by a strong family bond."

"You knew my mother?" Kana asked.

"I could never forget, she was so beautiful and perfect," Chisa said. "I can see so much of her in you, that's what made me suspect you were her daughter in the first place."

"That's why Papa wanted me to bring you to him," Kana said.

"Does he still carry your mother's pendant with him?" Chisa asked.

"Yes, how did you know?" Kana asked.

"I always approved of him being with your mother," Chisa smiled. "They were so happy together."

"Tell me more!" Kana said.

"Of course, anything for my granddaughter," Chisa laughed

That's it. The magic words were said and now another child was under her spell. Chisa could tell her granddaughter was brimming with potential for despair. Unlike all the other children Chisa had killed in the past, Kana was versatile and adapted to the despair, meaning she didn't have to die. Despite her murderous instincts, she knew deep down her granddaughter was an innocent little girl. An innocent little girl that just wanted her mother back. Chisa wanted the same thing, so it was a win win. As long as she kept by Kana's side, feeding her information about Chiaki, and told her just how vile the rest of future foundation was, she could tame her and make the inhumane girl her personal weapon. It was just so perfect.
