Inside you are two wolves named Hope and Despair. The two are constantly fighting one another, battling to the death. Which one wins?
It's the one you feed.
…
Chiaki hated alarm clocks, they were so annoying. Just as she was having one of her lovely dreams it just had to wake her up with its incessant beeping. Groaning, she turned to her side and hit the snooze button, not even opening her eyes.
"What's wrong IL oil?" A familiar voice yawned.
"I want to stay in bed," Chiaki whined.
"Me too," the voice replied. "Especially since you're here."
Chiaki felt soft arms wrap around her torso, plump breasts pressed against her back, and a firm chin nestled in between her neck and shoulder. She loved this scent of oleander that wafted around her. This wasn't a bed, this was heaven.
"Let's not do anything else today," the voice said.
"I'd like that," Chiaki smiled.
Of course, someone just had to walk in and ruin everything. The door slammed open and another familiar voice drilled in.
"It is time to wake up!" The person said.
Then they marched over to the window and pulled open the curtains letting a flood of light hit her and her companion. Both of them screamed and recoiled.
"Damn it Mukuro!" Her companion said. "You're supposed to knock! What if we were doing things?!"
"Sorry Junko, but you told me today was important," the person, Mukuro, said.
"Don't apologize to me," Junko growled. "Apologize to my mate."
"Apologies Chiaki," Mukuro said.
"Whatever," Chiaki sighed and opened her eyes.
Once she sat up and her eyes adjusted, she saw her beloved Junko sitting up in bed beside her. Her strawberry blonde hair glowed with the morning light, she was so lovely. Now that the two were up, Mukuro left to retrieve something from the hallway.
"My what lovely pink eyes you have," Junko said as she put a hand to Chiaki's cheek.
"The better to see your lovely eyes," Chiaki smiled and held her hand.
Mukuro came back with a food cart carrying their breakfast, strawberry pancakes and sausage. It smelled wonderful, but not as wonderful as Junko. Delicately, Mukuro prepared their trays so they could eat in bed then they dug in.
"So, how did you sleep, love?" Junko asked before scarfing down a full sausage link.
"Like a kitten in the sun," Chiaki smiled.
"You're more of a puppy to me," Junko smiled.
"Well, this puppy was thinking we should go hunting tonight," Chiaki said and snuggled up to Junko, "please?"
"I don't know, I have some business to do," Junko said.
Chiaki puffed up her cheeks.
"Fine, I'll find time for us to play tonight," Junko scratched Chiaki behind the ear.
"Are you sure, Junko?" Mukuro interjected. "It's rather important that you-"
Mukuro held her tongue as the couple glared daggers at her.
"If my mate wants to play tonight, we will play tonight," Junko growled.
"Thank you," Chiaki rubbed her head against her beloved.
"Now let's get dressed," Junko said. "Mukuro, leave."
"Yes," Mukuro bowed and left.
Once the door closed, Junko and Chiaki looked at each other with cheeky smiles.
"How does five minutes sound?" Junko asked.
"I guess, but would she notice if it was 6?" Chiaki asked.
"I don't care so let's go for it," Junko said. "There's no better way to start the day."
For a moment Chiaki stared into the frigid blue eyes of her beloved. What fortune had led her to this beautiful and compassionate girl? Chiaki remembered.
…
...
...
For so much of her life, Chiaki had been alone. Initially it wasn't by choice, it just happened that many people didn't care to stick around her. School was the worst. Being in a large group of potential friends, each one smiling and happy, but just out of her reach. When she was in elementary school, all she wanted was physical contact, but the bonds she had were so weak that it only came in rare moments. Middle school was especially terrible as she underwent changes by herself. Her mother only had time to sit down with her once to explain it and that was all she ever got. By this time she had grown more self reliant, but she was mostly making it up as she went along. She wondered if any of the other students of class felt pains similar to her, maybe that's how life was for everyone. After one year of highschool, she had come to the realization that her life wasn't normal. It wasn't normal to be this alone both at school and home, she needed companionship just like everyone else. She needed it so badly that when she was offered a place at a prestigious academy for her talent, she immediately took it. Unlike other girls, she had no attachments to her school and the people there. The academy even offered dorms, which she gladly took over that empty house.
She was so hopeful when she arrived at Hope's Peak. When she stepped into her classroom she wanted her peers to talk to her so she could gather the courage to talk back. Sadly, it was not meant to be. Instead of a strong friendly group tied together by their desire to learn about their talents, her peers were scattered and self absorbed. She couldn't blame them, after all she was no better, relying on her talent for everything from her talking points to her reason to live. Like most of her peers, she decided not to go to class since it wasn't mandatory and just focused on her games.
By chance, she happened to encounter a boy one day. It happened when she was walking and playing, she just bumped into him. She looked up at him and the two stood in awkward silence. For a moment she thought about talking to him and maybe trying to get to know him, but she quickly dismissed the hopeful idea and kept walking. Once she walked away he would forget all about her. That's what she thought and yet he spoke up and asked what game she was playing. It was a simple question and yet it was something she had never really been asked. Suddenly she wasn't afraid to talk her heart out about herself and her game. It felt so good to speak and be heard. Even better, the boy engaged in the conversation as well. For that one afternoon, Chiaki talked with someone for hours uninterrupted. By the time they realized the time, the moon was high above their heads. The boy advised them to go to their dorms, then Chiaki said something she hadn't said in a long time.
"Can I see you tomorrow?" Chiaki asked.
"Sure…," the boy said, a bit flustered. "Same place and time?"
"Yeah," Chiaki nodded.
After that encounter, Chiaki met the boy several more times. She couldn't believe she managed to make a friend and keep his interest. Although she was inexperienced with friendship she made a good effort and even if she messed up and said the wrong thing he didn't care and stayed her friend. If he wasn't mandated to attend classes at the reserve course building, she would have wanted him to stay with her all day just playing games. She had no friends except for him. One time she went to class after her encounter to see if she could make more friends, but the teacher was drunk off his whisky and the few students were still too self absorbed to notice her sitting quietly in the corner. It proved as a reminder that she couldn't afford to lose this one and only friend of hers.
But she did.
One day out of the blue, she waited for him at their usual spot but he was running late. An hour passed and he still hadn't appeared, he didn't even message her. Figuring he was sick, she messaged him and tried waiting at their spot. She waited a few days, then a few weeks. Normally she'd take the hint and leave it at that, but after the time they spent together, she couldn't afford to lose him. So she kept waiting, even going so far as to wait for him outside the reserve course building. With nothing to lose she could have waited for months. Then she was noticed, but not by him.
…
It happened in spring, a full year since she arrived at the academy. She was just sitting outside the reserve course building as usual.
"Hey, what's a main course student doing, always hanging around here?" A student asked her.
Chiaki looked up from her game to see a trio of reserve course boys glaring at her.
"Oh… I," Chiaki didn't know what to say.
"What are you a dog?" One student mocked her.
"Ha a lowly mutt that doesn't know she's not wanted," another student laughed.
"I-," Chiaki tried to defend herself but was cut off.
"Why don't you do everyone a favor and get lost," the main boy said. "No one here wants you!"
"If we can't enter Hope's peak why should you be allowed to enter our school?!" The other boy growled.
"I didn't mean to bother-" Chiaki tried to calm them down until the main boy punched her in the stomach.
"Shut up bitch!" The boy said.
The pain shocked her whole system and made her fall down and drop her game. When she tried to reach for it, one of the boys kicked it away. She looked up at the boys to see they were all smiling, eyes darkened by hate.
"There's only one way to get rid of a whiny bitch," the main boy said.
"Please," Chiaki begged.
Her plea for mercy was only met with violence as the boys proceeded to kick her. She had never felt this much physical pain before. When she tried to crawl away, one boy stepped on her while the main boy grabbed her by the hair and knelt down.
"Do you get it now bitch," the boy said. "Your talent doesn't mean shit because you're still a sniveling stray."
"HEY!" A voice shouted.
Chiaki barely had the strength to move her eyes and see before the boy dropped her head.
"What the hell are you doing?!" The feminine voice shouted.
"Beat it, can't you see we're teaching this bitch a lesson," the boy said.
"All I see is three spineless nobodies beating up an innocent girl," the voice said.
"What do you care, you're from the main course and everyone knows main course students only care about themselves!" The boy said.
"Consider me the exception," the girl said.
"What are you gonna do, cry for help?" One of the other boys laughed.
"Mukuro!" The girl shouted.
As swift as wind the three boys were knocked off their feet and hit the ground beside Chiaki. Standing above them was a slender girl with short black hair in equally black clothes, but not from the reserve course. The pain must have been making her delirious because her vision was starting to fade in and out. Before she blacked out, the girl that had verbally defended her came into view. She couldn't get a good look but she appeared to have long strawberry blonde hair tied in pigtails and frigid blue eyes.
"Are you okay?" She asked.
Chiaki tried to respond only to black out.
…
When she woke up she was in a queen sized bed with scarlet silk sheets. She looked around the room, but could find any hint of where she was. Cautiously she stepped out of bed causing her body to ache but not as badly as she thought it would. In fact when she examined her torso she noticed her torso was wrapped in bandages. Chiaki recalled the frigid blue eyes of the girl that saved her and peaked through the curtains. It was night time by now, but she could see the main Hope's peak building not too far away which was reassuring. Now she could assume she was in that girls' dorm. Just as she thought of her the girl walked in.
"Oh, you're finally awake," she said.
Chiaki turned and looked at the girl. No longer floating in and out of consciousness, she could get a truly good look at her savior. It was almost unreal how beautiful the girl was, her image glowing from the light of the moon. She looked like an angel.
"You… saved me," Chiaki spoke. "Why?"
"I couldn't let those lowlifes harm someone so lovely," the girl said.
"Lovely?" Chiaki blinked.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to sound creepy," the girl blushed.
"No… it's okay," Chiaki said.
"I won't lie, I've seen you walking around campus here and there playing Gala Omega," the girl said. "I wanted to say hi but you looked so focused."
"I'm glad you did notice," Chiaki smiled. "I don't want to think what those boys would have done to me if you hadn't showed up."
"Me neither," the girl said. "People like them are just so full of hate and jealousy."
"Yeah…," Chiaki sighed.
"What's your name?" The girl asked.
"Chiaki Nanami," Chiaki said. "You?"
"Junko Enoshima," the girl said confidently.
"That's a nice name," Chiaki said.
"You have a nice name too," Junko said. "Sorry I kinda kidnapped you, but I wanted to make sure you were okay. My sister's really good at treating injuries."
"It's fine, thanks for that," Chiaki said. "Honestly I doubt anyone would care if I disappeared."
"I'd care," Junko said.
"Why?" Chiaki asked. "You barely know me."
"Well, my talent is analysis so I'm really good at reading people," Junko explained. "I can tell, just by looking at you, that you're a really good person and someone I want to be friends with."
"Friends?" Chiaki asked, it hurt to say.
"Yeah, if that's okay with you," Junko said.
Chiaki contemplated it. Although it sounded so wonderful, past experiences had tainted her hope for companionship let alone friendship. What if they became friends and then after a month or two she'd abandon her for other better friends. The wound from that boy was still ripe with pain like it had been infected. She was too broken to be loved.
"I'm sorry… but I don't think I can," Chiaki said.
"Why?" Junko asked.
"I just can't risk getting hurt again," Chiaki said.
"I understand," Junko said. "You've suffered so much heartbreak already."
"You can tell just by looking," Chiaki sighed.
"Listen, Chiaki, I don't know what happened before, but I promise that I'd never abandon you, I'd stake my life on it," Junko said.
"It must be nice being able to read people," Chiaki said. "You never have to worry about putting your trust in the wrong people."
"Yeah, I wish you could have it too, then it'd be easier," Junko said. "But at least give me a try, just a week or something like that. I want to prove to you that you can trust me to be your friend!"
She sounded so determined when she said that. It was unlike anyone she had ever met, even that boy. Even if she got hurt again at least she'd get a week of companionship out of it.
"Okay," Chiaki said.
Junko's eyes illuminated like a light switch as she formed a big smile.
"Chiaki, thank you," Junko said. "I promise I won't disappoint you! I'll be the best friend you ever had."
There wasn't much competition there, Chiaki thought to herself, but was still moved by Junko's proclamation. Now she had a new glimmer of hope that she wouldn't be a lone wolf any more. All because this brave girl had noticed her and cared enough to rescue her.
…
...
...
After their quick activity, Chiaki and Junko got dressed. Junko wore her usual purple cardigan and red skirt. As for Chiaki she decided to wear her equipment so she could go outside and patrol her territory.
"My what cute ears you have," Junko said
"The better to hear your sweet voice," Chiaki said.
"452," Junko said.
"I can always count on you to remember the important things," Chiaki said.
Chiaki looked in the mirror to make sure everything was on correctly. Her long red scarf was bright and complimented her Gala Omega hair pin. She wore a stainless white bodysuit with a furry chest plate and utility belt. Most importantly were her clawed gauntlets and boots with pink paw pads, a long white robotic tail wrapped in synthetic fur, and her robotic wolf ears.
"If you're going to ditch the beta to patrol our territory, make sure you're not seen," Junko said.
"Like you even have to ask," Chiaki said.
"Not even the others can see you," Junko said. "We can't risk anyone-"
Chiaki pressed her finger on Junko's lips.
"You know I would never do anything to jeopardize our goal," Chiaki said before moving her hand to caress Junko's cheek. "Besides, you know you're the only one I want to be noticed by."
"Consider yourself noticed," Junko smiled then kissed her.
"It always hurts when you leave," Chiaki sighed, her robotic ears and tail drooping. "Can't you get Mukuro to go instead?"
"No she has to go to class in my place," Junko said. "But I promise I will return to you tonight for our hunt. I always do."
"Okay," Chiaki said
…
...
…
After that fateful day, Chiaki spent all her time with Junko. Just like her, Junko didn't go to class so they had all the time in the world together. They play games, but unlike that boy, Junko offered other things they could do together like going to a fancy restaurant. For a long time though Chiaki kept her guard up, but she still chose to hang out with Junko after one week. She couldn't explain it but they just clicked perfectly. Sometimes she worried that their friendship was but a dream and she'd soon wake up from it and find herself all alone again. Fortunately Junko was always there to reassure and spoil her.
In May the two decided to move in together since all they wanted to do was be in each other's company for as long as possible. Junko pulled some strings and Mukuro helped move everything while Chiaki found a place for each thing. Now more than anywhere she had been, their dorm felt like a true home to her. She was a little surprised how well her things fit with Junko's, Mukuro not so much but that was expected since she was an ultimate soldier. Everything was perfect and yet, every now and then, Chiaki felt melancholic. Junko noticed.
"What's wrong?" Junko asked one day after one of their gaming sessions in the dorm.
"I think… I'm scared," Chiaki said.
"Scared?" Junko asked.
"I'm scared that once I graduate… all this will disappear," Chiaki said. "Then I'll be a lone wolf again with nowhere to go."
"What about your family?" Junko asked.
"They don't care that I'm alone," Chiaki said. "My mom is too busy with work and my dad…"
Junko tilted her head.
"He's out of the picture," Chiaki said. "He probably doesn't even remember me."
"I'm so sorry," Junko said.
"It's not your fault," Chiaki said. "That's just how it is."
"Still, because of them you don't have a pack you can rely on," Junko said. "That's why you're a lone wolf."
"Yeah, if I had a therapist they probably would say that," Chiaki sighed.
Chiaki lowered her head until she felt Junko's warm hand on hers. Chiaki turned and saw Junko staring directly at her.
"I think I know a way we can ensure you'll never be alone again," Junko said.
"What?" Chiaki asked.
"Let's form our own pack!" Junko said.
"Like wolves?" Chiaki asked.
"Yeah, wolf packs are really strong and in it everyone looks out for each other," Junko said.
"I guess that sounds like the three of us," Chiaki said. "Would we have an alpha?"
"Two alphas, you and me," Junko said. "Mukuro can be the beta, which is the second best rank."
"But we're both girls, and the alphas are the ones in love," Chiaki said before noticing Junko's face was red with blush. "Junko?"
"This is an awkward moment to confess but," Junko swallowed and looked back at Chiaki. "I'm in love with you Chiaki and I want to be with you even past the day I die."
Chiaki blinked, she had never dreamed anyone, let alone a girl, would fall in love with her. She had no idea how to respond, but then when she began to think about it it did make sense. The first time she saw Junko standing in the moonlight, her heart had raced then. Several times after that she would pause and think how kind and beautiful Junko was and how lucky she was to be friends with her. It never occurred to her as a possibility before until Junko confessed, but in that moment she realized she had developed similar feelings towards this girl.
"Chiaki?" Junko asked nervously.
"I'm in love with you too," Chiaki smiled.
"Oh, Chiaki," Junko's eyes started to water before she embraced Chiaki. "I love you so much."
"I love you too," Chiaki smiled and hugged her back
"Wait here," Junko said.
Junko rushed over to the bedroom. When she came back she had a paper bag. Chiaki tilted her head.
"What is that?" Chiaki asked.
"I had some spare time while you were sleeping to work on this. I wanted to give it to you if we ever started dating," Junko said. "Close your eyes."
Chiaki closed her eyes and heard the bag ruffle. Then she felt something soft wrap around her neck. She thought she'd be allowed to open her eyes, but Junko made her wait a bit more as she tied it.
"Okay, there," Junko said.
Chiaki opened her eyes and walked over to the mirror. Wrapped around her neck was a long ruby red scarf tied into a bow in the back. She had never worn a scarf before, yet she knew it was the loveliest scarf in the world.
"Do you like it?" Junko asked.
"I love it," Chiaki turned and smiled at her.
"Red suits you," Junko said. "It's the color of love and passion. Also blush."
Chiaki looked in the mirror and saw she was blushing and laughed.
"I guess this makes us mates now," Chiaki smiled.
"And not the Australian kind," Junko laughed. "Did you know wolves mate for life?"
"I sure hope they do," Chiaki said.
"If you like that gift wait till you see what else I plan to give you," Junko said.
"Can't you give it to me now?" Chiaki asked
"It's in the final stages of beta testing," Junko said.
"A game?!" Chiaki asked.
"You'll see," Junko laughed.
...
A few days later Chiaki found a pink gift box on the table. She looked to Junko who was smiling ear to ear and opened it. Inside was her gamegirl advance, but when she turned it on the game inside was new. The title screen played a howl before showing a white wolf and black wolf standing in the snow. Above them was the title "Monokami". Without hesitation, Chiaki pressed the start button and the game transitioned to first person inside a dark 3D labyrinth. She followed the tutorial and found the main goal of the game was to hunt prey in the labyrinth. For an indie game it had a renowned effect on her, rejuvenating her energy more than any game she had played before. It truly made her feel like a powerful wolf and gave wonderful catharsis each time she tore apart her prey.
"It's got Co-op too," Junko said.
"Oh," Chiaki looked up from her game. "Yeah let's play it."
Junko turned on her gamegirl advance and the two played the co-op mode. Chiaki was the white wolf and Junko was the black wolf, together they were even stronger and dispatched prey with greater ease. It made her feel invincible as they played several more rounds.
"Hey, so I also made another feature of the game that has a super realistic feature, but they prey in that level might be personal," Junko said.
"What do you mean?" Chiaki asked.
"Well, you know how people put the pictures of exes on a dart board, I kinda did that here with those three lowlifes," Junko explained.
"It's okay, it's just a game," Chiaki said. "Plus it would be nice to beat them up without consequence."
"I figured that's what you'd say," Junko smiled. "Let's play then."
Chiaki excitedly booted up the level. As Junko has said, the prey in this level was modeled after the three reserve course students that attacked her. At first it made her sick to see their faces again in high definition, but once she saw Junko's wolf standing beside her she wasn't afraid. She leapt towards the main boy and went right for his throat while Junko went for his legs. Together they ripped him in half and earned a lot of points for their violence. A wave of Euphoria washed over her as she heard his realistic screams for mercy. Knowing it was a game, Chiaki teamed up with Junko to get a bloody combo from mutilating the prey. She was use to violence in video games, but she had to admit this was the most realistic visual of violence she had seen in a game. It didn't matter though since it made her excited more than repulsed.
…
For the next few days, Chiaki became more addicted to her new game. It was an expected cycle with her when it came to new games. However unlike the other new games she had played, this one made her feel even better. She found when Junko played it with her that was the best part, and not just because the two could rack up so many combos bonuses. It was the perfect gift and she owed it all to Junko. Everything in general was perfect. Until Junko came home one day with bad news.
Chiaki was playing her game as usual when Junko walked in. Happy to see her, Chiaki paused the game and ran to greet her.
"Junko," Chiaki said as she embraced her but then noticed Junko didn't hug her back, "Junko? What's wrong?"
"I just found out something really terrible," Junko said. "I don't know if I can even say it."
"Of course you can, we share everything," Chiaki said. "It'll help if you get it off your chest."
"Well Mukuro and I were investigating the school, we found this top secret file," Junko said. "Inside it was this plan to create something called the ultimate hope, a living person with every talent in existence."
"That's crazy," Chiaki said.
"The crazier thing is that they actually did it," Junko said. "They found someone in the reserve course willing to go through the surgery."
"Who would be that crazy?" Chiaki asked.
"That's what I'm afraid to say," Junko looked down.
"No," Chiaki whispered. "You can't mean…,"
Junko nodded her head. Chiaki was speechless in shock. She could have never imagined this was what happened to him.
…
...
...
Although she was patrolling her territory alone, Chiaki did feel comfortable knowing it was her and Junko's territory. Thanks to Mukuro's training and the equipment she wore, she could go anywhere without being seen. Granted that she was hardly ever noticed to begin with. Now she could climb up walls and leap between roofs all while running with the speed of a wolf. She felt so free and as light as air. However, as she looked over her territory from the top of Hope's Peak it felt rather empty without Junko by her side. Closing her eyes, she thought about all the times Junko and her climbed up here to watch the sky. It was where they had their first kiss under the full moon.
"Junko," Chiaki sighed.
…
Of all the places in her territory, the fountain was her least favorite, followed by the reserve course. Anytime she walked through it the place triggered tainted memories of the boy that abandoned her. Still it was part of her and Junko's territory and needed to be patrolled. She figured she'd just take a few minutes to check it out and then she could move on. That thought changed when she saw a familiar shadow of a person standing near the fountain. Instantly Chiaki's ears and tail rose up as she felt the urge to bare her teeth.
"What are you doing here?" Chiaki growled.
"For some reason I am drawn to this place," he said.
"I used to spend a lot of time here with him," Chiaki said. "But that's in the past."
"You remember the person who once occupied this body," he said.
"Unfortunately," Chiaki said. "I don't care to think of him, after what he did just to become you."
"I can imagine he wanted to become a stronger person," he said.
"Clearly I wasn't good enough," Chiaki said.
"Perhaps it was the opposite," he said.
"I don't care what his reasons were," Chiaki growled. "It doesn't matter anyway, he's practically dead. Your birth killed him."
"You are infatuated with Junko, to the point no other relation matters," he said.
"My pack mates matter!" Chiaki growled. "You're just not one of them. Instead you're a pitiful lone wolf, as you should be."
"Of course," he said.
"You'll see, my pack will keep growing till it overtakes the world," Chiaki said. "And me and Junko will lead them all as one."
"What happens to those who do not wish to join?" He asked to which Chiaki grinned.
"Our pack will simply drive them out of our growing territory, any stragglers or fighters that resist our love will die," Chiaki said with the most sadistic smile. "So keep out of our territory!"
"I see," he said, "You should not put that much faith in such a vile girl."
"Why do you care about me and Junko?" Chiaki growled.
"Candidly I do not know," Izuru said.
"Then keep out of it," Chiaki growled.
"I will not force it," he said, "however if you are so loyal to her then whatever she is hiding under your bed shouldn't bother you."
Chiaki wanted to rip his head off. Fortunately for both of them, he decided to leave. Her fur was still on edge even as she watched his long ebony hair vanish over the horizon. If he wasn't talented at everything she would have killed him with Junko a long time ago. She got so worked up she had forgotten she was supposed to not be seen. Quickly, she disappeared before some students walked by. She vowed one day when her pack was big enough, her and Junko would tear him apart.
...
...
…
After the news, Chiaki submerged herself into her game to make herself feel better. Junko supported her through it by getting her to eat and playing the game with her. However it still wasn't enough. She was no stranger to abandonment, yet this cut her deep. It hurt her the most because it made her remember the first time she was abandoned. She hated it. As always, Junko took notice.
"Chiaki?" Junko asked one night over dinner. "Are you still sad over what happened?"
"Yes," Chiaki sighed.
"But it's not just because of him," Junko said.
"Why is it that everyone but you and Junko leaves me?" Chiaki asked.
"Because they're all idiots," Junko said, making Chiaki laugh a bit. "It's not your fault they're blind to how amazing you are."
"Thanks," Chiaki smiled and sighed again, "I just wish… no I shouldn't say it."
"It's okay," Junko said.
"I just wish that the people who left me were dead," Chiaki growled. "Why should they be happy after hurting me."
"You're right," Junko said. "They deserve to die."
"Wait, what am I saying?" Chiaki snapped out of it. "Killing is wrong."
"You kill all the time in your games," Junko said.
"That's different," Chiaki said. "It isn't real so it doesn't actually hurt anyone."
"I guess," Junko said. "Why don't we play it some more together, that always cheers you up. I'll add in a third player so Mukuro can play."
"Yeah, if like that," Chiaki smiled.
...
It was September when she truly fell in love with Junko. On that day, Junko had arranged a surprise for her but she had to walk to it, blindfolded. Carefully Junko guided her through the campus and held an umbrella over their heads as it poured. She couldn't see it but she could hear a roaring crowd of reserve course students outside the main gate. Junko had explained to her the reserve course students found out their money had been taken to make the ultimate hope and that's why they were going on a rampage. She couldn't care less about their plight now since all that mattered to her was to be with Junko.
Eventually Junko led her down a flight of stairs and echoey hallway. She was growing more and more excited just thinking what this surprise was. Maybe it was a secret virtual simulation or something grand like that. Whatever it was she knew she'd like it. Finally, after entering through a pair of doors, Junko lifted the blindfold from Chiaki's eyes, revealing they were in a circular room full of curtains and a monotone tile. In the center was a big white wolf with pink eyes. Chiaki jumped thinking it was alive but realized it was not, it looked just like the wolf in her game. Next to it was a small table with a pair a monotone visor, earbuds, and clawed gauntlets.
"What are these for?" Chiaki asked, wide eyed.
"I wanted to take our game to the next level," Junko said. "Try it out."
Excitedly, Chiaki slipped on the visor and gauntlets. A familiar howl played as the Monokami appeared in her glasses.
"You made it into a VR game!" Chiaki said.
"Not just any VR game," Junko said.
Instead of loading in the usual labyrinth, the game started her in the room they were currently in. She looked and saw her and Junko standing right were they were.
"I'm controlling the wolf!" Chiaki said.
"Yep," Junko smiled. "It took me forever but I found some people to make all this. That visor actually reads your brainwaves to help control the wolf."
"Did they make a wolf for you?" Chiaki asked.
"They're still working on it, but I wanted to give you your wolf as soon as possible," Junko said.
"Thank you Junko!" Chiaki leapt forward and embraced Junko.
"Hehe you can't see it but your wolf is wagging its tail like crazy," Junko said.
"That's incredible!" Chiaki said.
"Wait till you play the first level," Junko said. "Just say start and you'll have full control of the wolf. Then you can go out that door into the labyrinth to find your first prey."
"Will you be able to see?" Chiaki asked.
"No, but I'll watch you," Junko said before kissing her. "Have fun."
Excitedly, Chiaki took control of the wolf. It was odd at first but it worked seamlessly. Soon her wolf was running through the labyrinth at top speeds. Her adrenaline surged as she heard the sound of the wind rushing in her ears and watched through the wolf's keen sense of sight. She never felt so powerful before, then she saw her first prey, a white rabbit. Instinctively she thought to growl and lunge forward and that's exactly what her wolf did. Based on the blood effects she could see it was a fake rabbit, but that didn't really matter. She didn't notice but she wrapped her clawed gauntlets around thin air in sync with her wolf.
…
Chiaki continued to play her VR game for a while, running and killing any prey she came across with ease. Her soul transcended and became one with the mechanical wolf. All it's feral instincts were hers. Time and space no longer mattered, all that mattered was the hunt. But then she heard something that snapped her back to reality. It was a masculine voice, one she hadn't heard in years, yet she somehow recognized. Without thinking, she ran to investigate the source and found him.
There in the center of the labyrinth was a man with black hair, pink eyes, and glasses. He was dressed in a business suit and looked extremely agitated. She thought it couldn't be him and yet when she stared into his eyes she knew.
"Father," Chiaki said.
"Who are you?!" The man demanded. "What is going on?!"
That anger, she would never forget. It was just as volatile when she was a child. Back then she could hear him shout at her mother late in the night. She remembered, it was his temper that made him pound at the door demanding to be let in. Her mind was so absorbed in remembering, she didn't stop to question whether he was real or why he was even here.
"It's me, Chiaki," Chiaki said through the wolf.
"Chiaki?!" Her father asked. "What the hell are you doing. Is this some kind of fucked up game of yours?!"
"You always hated games," Chiaki said.
"Playing games will never help you succeed in life," her father said. "Now stop this at once and I'll consider not charging you and your vile friend."
Was he actually here then? Did he know about Junko and Mukuro? Had he been forced here against his will? Those were questions Chiaki should have asked and yet she didn't due to her increased adrenaline and some strange phenomenon in her brain. All she could think about were those tainted childhood memories. The time's she tried to visit him only to be rejected, when he stopped by the house in a drunken state begging her mother for money, and most importantly when he left. He had promised her he would be back in an hour. An hour turned into a day, then a week, and then months.
"You promised me before you would be back for my birthday," Chiaki said.
"What are you talking about?" Her father asked. "Stop this nonsense."
"You left when mom was at work," Chiaki growled as she moved in closer, teeth bared. "I waited by myself for hours in that house until mom came back late at night, but you didn't come back."
"Is this why you brought me here just to blame me for what you've become?" Her father said. "It's not my fault your mother did such a poor job raising you, she shouldn't have been so soft."
"At least she admits she wasn't perfect!" Chiaki snapped her muzzle. "You always pretended you were a perfect man, but a perfect man wouldn't abandon his wife and daughter!"
"Easy!" Her father backed up. "Your mother wanted me to leave. I had to refocus myself on my career."
"What career?!" Chiaki growled and walked closer, her tail raised.
"Stop it!" Her father demanded. "Your anger will solve nothing."
"What? Is anger as pointless as my games?" Chiaki asked. "I could make friends with my games this whole time, but because you berated my gift and then abandoned me, I never had the confidence to try."
"No wonder your only friend is a psycho," her father said under his breath but Chiaki heard it clear as day with her wolf hearing.
"Junko isn't a psycho, and she isn't just my friend!" Chiaki snarled. "We're in love!"
"How disgraceful do you have to be?!" Her father sneered.
"I don't need your approval to love, I didn't need you at all!" Chiaki shouted. "But you convinced me everyone would end up abandoning me sooner or later. You caused me all that pain."
"Blame yourself for being so inept at socialization," her father said. "You always refused our guidance."
Every word he spurted out was more volatile than the last. It made her wonder why she ever wanted his love and acceptance beyond affirming she wouldn't be abandoned. Despite his neglect and horrifying temper she had begged to see him so many times before. She knew now why that was. He was her father and her first betrayal that sunk deep into her subconscious planting a seed of doubt. Those doubts grew everyday he was gone and blossomed into insecurities. It was all his fault she had been so alone.
"It's your fault," Chiaki whispered.
"What now?" Her father groaned.
"IT'S YOUR FAULT!" Chiaki growled.
Without hesitation, Chiaki leapt at her father with her wolf body. He fell to the ground with the cold steel beast on top of him. She stared down into his pink eyes, for once not full of anger or disappointment but genuine fear. Her claws dug into his chest as she began to breathe heavily. She could feel something that had lied dormant in her subconscious was beginning to hatch and slither to the forefront of her mind. It had been there slowly developing over these past few months without her knowing. For a moment she was terrified to let this invasive feeling consume her whole being, but her concern evaporated upon the promise of revenge. She desired revenge.
Revenge for her father abandoning her. Revenge for him making empty promises. Revenge for all the disappointed glares he gave her. The insecurities he planted in her. Most importantly she wanted revenge for the perpetual despair she felt because of her father.
Just thinking of the despair kicked the feeling into overdrive. She felt fire surge through her veins, her heart was racing, and all she could see beneath her was her helpless prey. Like with every prey before, she desired to tear it to pieces. Without thinking, she lunged at his throat and sank her teeth in. Her father's screaming ringed in her sensitive ears but was a mere whisper compared to the sound of his heart thumping as fast as a rabbit.
"Chiaki!" He screamed over coughing blood. "I am your father!"
"You gave up that title long ago!" Chiaki growled.
Then with a simple thought she snapped her muzzle tight, forcing her teeth to push through his muscle and jugular. Blood squirted out of her father's mouth and onto her muzzle. She could only hear and see what her wolf did, but in that moment she could somehow taste the warm blood on her tongue. Her father continued to struggle stubbornly by kicking and pulling her fur, but he was completely helpless against her mechanical shell. Smiling, she watched his pupils dilate and start to glaze over with death, yet his heart kept pumping.
"You…," he struggled to speak.
Chiaki stopped pressing down on his throat to let him speak. Perhaps his near death experience had opened his eyes to what he had done.
"Bitch!" Her father shouted.
Every inch of fur rose on Chiaki's body. The man trapped in her muzzle had no remorse even towards death. But it was just the volatile thing she needed to hear in order to justify killing him. All she had to do was release her fangs from his throat and let him choke on a flood of his own blood. She watched blood gush out of his mouth and stream down to the floor. In a last attempt to survive he tried to cover the bleeding with his hands but it was futile. Patiently she waited for one whisper of remorse as his eyes grew redder, but it never came. Instead her father remained stubborn and unremorseful to the bitter end. It made her blood boil so much that although he was dead she wasn't done with his body.
The things she did to his fresh corpse would always stay in her memory. Not as nightmares but sweet dreams of revenge. She left not a single part of his pathetic body unscathed from her wrath. Blood painted the walls as she shook the body around like a wet rag doll. Her fingers felt warm with the entrails. Finally his stone cold heart fell out from his chest and onto the hard floor. She eyed it there amidst the boundless pool of blood and then with one push, squished it under her paw till it cracked into pieces.
Chiaki was no longer the sweet and pitiful lone wolf. Now she had completely transformed into something much stronger and feral.
…
…
…
After patrol, Chiaki returned to her and Junko's den. No one was there, she hated that. She looked around the empty dorm lavish with photos of her and Junko together. They were practically inseparable except for this rare occasion. She shouldn't have worried, but when she looked at the photos his words echoed in her head. They kept echoing and wouldn't vanish even when she shook her head. Over and over his words echoed in her head until she looked at the bedroom door. Cautiously, she turned the knob and entered.
Junko's scent permeated the room and tickled her scenes. Their bed was still a mess from their morning activity. She couldn't imagine Junko keeping a dark secret under their shared bed. Yet the doubts kept screaming at her to check and so she did. It didn't even take that long to find something stowed under Junko's side. From there she pulled out a small pink notebook with no discernible markings. Perhaps it was just a normal diary.
Oh how she wished she was right.
When she opened the notebook she saw the words "Shelter Infiltration" in big letters. Under it were a list of Junko's classmates, the principal, Mukuro, and herself. The next few pages gave more detailed information on each person as well as ideas for killing them. Makoto was the only one listed without a planned killing method and instead had a heart around his photo. Past the character profiles were blueprints to turn the old Hope's Peak building into a shelter during catastrophe. There were no ways in or out without compromising the whole building and there were even plans for lethal security measures outside. It sounded insane, but then Chiaki flipped to the last written page. There in red ink a note written in Junko's handwriting that read;
"Mukuro and I already have our spots in the shelter, but I can't get Chiaki in with us. It sucks but it's for the best since I'll need someone to lead our tragedy outside. Based on the shelter's supplies I doubt I will see her in a long time, I could very well get caught and executed before then. Still trying to figure out what to say to her since she hates being alone. As much as I love her, despair comes first and Makoto seems like my next greatest target. I can't wait to find out how to kill or corrupt him."
Chiaki dropped the notebook, her whole body was shaking.
"It can't be…," Chiaki trembled. "This isn't actually what she's planning."
Her mechanical tail wrapped around her like a blanket as flashbacks to everyone that left her played in her head. Starting with her father all the way to Hajime, she couldn't afford another one, especially if it was Junko. Junko was her mate, the piece that filled in the empty spaces of her being. Without her she was as good as a lone wolf starving to death in winter.
"Maybe, she'll reconsider," Chiaki said to herself. "If I hint that I know about the shelter program then she can tell me and I convince her not to go through with it."
With that haphazard reasoning, Chiaki regained some of her composure. She decided she would wait until after their hunt and then ask Junko. Taking a breath, Chiaki slid the notebook back into place and went to go play some games to keep her mind off of it.
…
…
…
Many things happened once Chiaki killed her father. They each happened so fast, one after the other, it was hard to keep track. One would have expected her to be repulsed by her violent killing, but she was quite the opposite. It felt natural like an instinct. After it happened Junko told her she had partly created her game to sublimely plant those instincts in her. Chiaki should have been furious at being manipulated, but she wasn't. Afterall, thanks to those instincts she had become much stronger. More so she felt a deeper connection with Junko, her beloved mate. She wanted to rule the world with her, so they planned to do just that.
Junko had already prepared plans for their new world order and shared them with Chiaki. The next step was recruiting stronger pack mates and drilling the same feral instincts they had into each one. Using Junko's analytic talent and Chiaki as a mole, the two made a list of weakest to strongest willed people, starting with Mikan. Mikan was a frail runt desperate for love, practically begging for it like a dog, that it was all too easy for Junko and Chiaki to seduce her to her side. She would be the omega of their pack, but still an essential part nonetheless.
With each packmate Chiaki recruited she gained a friend. They listened to her and trusted her every word. Whatever she wanted they would give her, they were so loyal. Once Kazuichi was recruited he upgraded her wolf equipment making her even deadlier and connected to her mechanical wolf. Each one was so sweet to her, even Nagito in his own strange way. It was just as she wanted when she came to Hope's Peak. Of course while she loved each one dearly, they all paled in comparison to her beloved mate.
For no matter how many packmates Chiaki gained, she vowed she would love Junko most. Junko pledged the same under the full moon. They would stay together forever, tearing the world apart, then ruling over what remained. It was her destiny.
…
…
…
That night, Chiaki met Junko out on a city roof top under a full moon. Similar to Chiaki, Junko now wore a wolf themed outfit colored black and with the same accessories. Together they were Monokami, the symbols of hope and despair and soon the mascots of the new world order. Originally it was going to be a bear, but Junko was so inspired by Chiaki that she changed it. It just showed how open and thoughtful Junko was with her, yet the doubts from her recent discovery were still eating at her.
"You ready?" Junko asked.
Chiaki turned towards her companion. Junko glowed with the light of the moon, just like the night they met. Everything about her was perfect. They were perfect.
"Yeah," Chiaki nodded.
Junko took her clawed hand and Chiaki's clawed hand. Chiaki looked up into Junko's frigid blue eyes beyond their visors. A wind blew by and she could smell the scent of oleander coming from Junko. It couldn't be true, this person she loved with all her heart and who loved her completely in turn, she couldn't betray her. They were mates. Alphas of their growing pack.
"You're shaking," Junko said.
"It's still so cold," Chiaki said.
"Surprising for spring," Junko smiled. "You know what's good for making you warm?"
"An exciting hunt," Chiaki smiled.
"That's my girl," Junko said combing her claws through Chiaki's hair. "You know me so well."
"Yeah," Chiaki said.
"What lovely eyes you have," Junko smiled.
"All the better to see you with," Chiaki smiled back.
"Now, let's start," Junko said. "Mukuro found a good spot crawling with degenerates."
Junko pointed to a brothel a few blocks away.
"Perfect," Chiaki said.
"The wolves are in position," Junko said.
"Let's do it," Chiaki smiled with a sadistic grin. "I'll kill each and everyone of those bastards."
"God I love it when you're blood thirsty," Junko squealed.
The two proceeded to power on their visors. Since recruiting the ultimate mechanic into their pack, the system was upgraded to run even smoother and be more immersive. Chiaki opened her wolf eyes to find herself in a rundown room alongside a black wolf with frigid blue eyes. Junko's wolf took the lead and Chiaki followed close behind. They came to a patio parallel to a black glass window of the brothel concealing the people inside. Junko turned to Chiaki and nodded making her nod in turn. Both knew exactly to take a running start and leap towards the window. They're metallic bodies easily smashed through the window, shattering it to pieces. As the glass fell around them, Chiaki saw the horrified men and women. Each one was so startled they stopped their illicit activities at once. Junko flashed a toothy grin and Chiaki before the two snarled in unison just to scare the people more. Slowly the two herded the people into the wall, Junko taking the left, Chiaki taking the right. One man tried to take out his phone and call for help, so Chiaki ran forward and saw that his phone was removed along with his hand. She could smell the blood gushing out of his hand as she held it in her fangs. The faces of object horror on the people's faces was priceless as were the chorus of their racing hearts she heard as clear as day.
As they had planned, the women were executed first. One by one they picked them off, the women's lack of clothes made it easier to pinpoint their weak spots. Blood splattered everywhere and stained the wolves fur. While they slaughtered the women, the men shook and pissed themselves with fear in the corner. Chiaki expected them to act so selfish, just like her father, yet it made her sick all the same. In her anger she attacked the men before Junko could finish off the last woman. Chiaki leapt at the biggest man and clenched her jaw around his throat. Even though he struggled and his throat was thick, Chiaki kept biting down hard till her fangs sliced through his. Now most of Chiaki's snow white fur was painted crimson.
Junko looked away from her prey and towards her mate mauling the man. Seeing her opportunity, the prey ran away leaving small blots of blood behind her. Junko didn't seem to care as she proceeded to join Chiaki in slaughtering the men. The screams of the men echoed through the building and right in Chiaki's ears, they were almost the same as her father's last screams. Although the men were bigger and stronger like buffalo, they were no match for Chiaki and Junko's combined attacks. Finally there was one feeble little man left with his pants off. Junko and Chiaki looked at each other before the former ran up and bite him in between his legs, toppling him to the ground. The man, overcome with steering pain, cried so much and tried to push Junko away with his hands, but her jaw was locked. As easy as picking a flower, Junko ripped it off sending the man into the greatest fit of pain. It was Chiaki's turn to deliver the critical blow to his head, but she refused to give him such an easy escape. Instead she used her fangs to bite off his legs so he had no hope of escape. Her metallic teeth easily crushed his bones to dust making the man scream one last time with his exhausted vocal cords.
As Chiaki watched the man bleed out, Junko came to her side and licked some of the blood from her fur. Chiaki looked at the man and imagined him with the face of Hajime. That's what he deserved for abandoning her.
"What do you want to do with the runaway?" Junko asked after the man passed.
"Let her run," Chiaki looked at her. "No one will believe in or care for a slut."
"You're as cold as your metallic skeleton," Junko licked her teeth, "I love it!"
"Any one outside of my pack is the enemy and deserves to be drowned in despair," Chiaki growled, "especially adulterers that tear packs apart."
"Truer words couldn't be spoken," Junko nodded. "I can't wait for our tragedy. Then we can hunt whenever we want."
"Let's get moving," Chiaki said. "We should return our wolf selves to our territory."
"I get some packmates to move them," Junko said.
"I'd rather walk myself," Chiaki said as she walked ahead.
"Then I'm right behind you," Junko followed.
…
Despite the chaos they had caused, the city was pretty unaffected in the moment. The two wolves walked through the alleyways avoiding the sight of humans. As they walked, Chiaki came down from her kill high and began to recall her doubts. She knew exactly what to do.
"While I was patrolling the territory today, I heard some whispers about a shelter," Chiaki said. "Do you know what that is."
"Yeah, it seems the principal has become rather anxious thanks to our activities," Junko said. "He's going to turn the old school building into a shelter just in case the shit hits the fan."
"Who will he take in?" Chiaki asked, getting a bit nervous.
"My class, probably because his daughter's in it," Junko said.
"You…," Chiaki hesitated. "You aren't going are you?"
"Nah," Junko said before rubbing up against Chiaki. "I'd rather stay here with my beautiful mate."
"Good," Chiaki faked a smile. "So what should we do about the shelter?"
"I figured we'd just leave it alone," Junko said. "Those idiots will eventually drive each other so crazy they'll probably kill each other or try to break out. We won't even have to lift a claw to fill them with despair."
"Fine," Chiaki said.
Junko was lying
She looked her directly in the eyes and lied to her.
That's when Chiaki knew exactly what she needed to do next.
…
Once Chiaki and Junko returned their wolves and walked back to their dorm, they prepared for bed. Chiaki took a shower first then Junko. While Junko showered, Chiaki slipped on her white nightgown along with something else. Then she waited in bed under the covers. Eventually Junko came out, hair almost dried and smelling of oleander even more. Chiaki watched as Junko changed into a silk black nightgown with lace. Her heart was beating so fast. Junko cozied into her side of the bed.
"What a day," Junko yawned.
"Yeah," Chiaki said.
"Just think in a few days we'll make our presence known to the world in a beautiful display of violence," Junko said.
"I can't wait," Chiaki said.
"Are you okay?" Junko turned to her. "You seem less enthusiastic about the Tragedy then usual."
"I'm just worried…," Chiaki said.
"About?" Junko asked.
"What if something happens that separates us?" Chiaki asked.
"I won't let that happen," Junko smiled and placed a hand on Chiaki's cheek. "I'd never abandon you."
"Junko…," Chiaki said as she moved her body closer. "That's a lie!"
Swiftly Chiaki forced herself on top of Junko. The silk sheets slid off her revealing clawed gauntlets that she used to pin down Junko's arms.
"My what big claws you have," Junko nervously grinned. "But seriously what are you doing."
"I read your notebook, I know you plan on leaving me to go into that shelter during the tragedy!" Chiaki growled. "So stop lying to me about it!"
"Chiaki… darling ple-" Junko tried you calm her down only for Chiaki to dig her claws into Junko's skin.
"You always treated me as an equal, why stop now?" Chiaki asked. "Why would you plan to do this to me, your one and only mate?!"
"I guess, because I got bored," Junko said. "You did your damndest to keep me entertained and it showed. The moment I saw you I knew you would change my life. But unfortunately, I found someone else that peaks my interest just a little more."
"Makoto Naegi!" Chiaki snarled.
"You really did read my notebook," Junko said. "Sorry to say but Makoto is my next big project. You wanted the truth and there it is."
It was the last thing she had ever wanted to hear. The one she loved most admitted their infidelity. Why had she changed so much then? Was she just a toy, a disposable ragdoll to throwaway once it got too dirty. She refused. She refused this pitiful fate that befell her over and over throughout her life. No one, especially Junko, could abandon her and be allowed to live.
Chiaki snapped, completely surrendering herself to her feral instincts. In the heat of the moment she bite down hard into the side of Junko's neck. Her human teeth were far weaker compared to her wolf fangs, but her rage allowed them to pierce the skin and draw blood. Junko screamed at the top of her lungs. Now Chiaki tasted the metallic liquid flow in between her teeth and onto her tongue, yet it only encouraged her to bite harder. Without her ears she couldn't hear Junko's heartbeat, but she could feel it through the bleeding veins in her mouth.
"If I knew this would happen…," Junko forced herself to speak," I would have got out sooner. I guess no matter how ferocious it is, a wolf is still as stupidly loyal as a dog."
Memories of the reserve course boys flashed through her head along with all her memories of waiting for someone.
"NO ONE CALLS ME A DOG!" Chiaki shouted.
Then with one clean swipe, Chiaki sliced open the major arteries in both Junko's arms. Junko howled in pain. Blood oozed out turning the scarlet sheets even darker. Chiaki looked down at her handiwork and for a moment regretted everything she had done. Her grip loosened and Junko was able to slip her bleeding arms out.
"Haha… I should have predicted this would have happened." Junko faintly laughed.
Mukuro bursted into the room and screamed at the sight of her sister bleeding out underneath her attacker.
"Junko!" Mukuro shouted.
Mukuro was fully prepared to rush to her sister's side and fight off the bloody attacker. Yet, as a surprise to both of them, Junko weakly raised her hand to make Mukuro stop dead in place.
"Mukuro, with these cuts I'm going to die soon," Junko said. "When that happens you will take orders solely from Chiaki. No matter... how much you want to avenge me, you may not harm or disobey Chiaki in any way. I will be gone, but she will still... be an alpha and you her loyal beta."
"But Junko-" Mukuro began tearing up.
"I won't… repeat myself," Junko said. "There's no point in saving me."
Junko then turned to Chiaki and placed a hand on her bloody cheek.
"Chiaki, my dear sweat mate…," Junko smiled. "Even though I'm going to die, you should know... I don't regret any of my decisions, even my decision... to lie to you."
"Why?" Chiaki asked.
"That's… my secret," Junko weakly laughed. "But... I'm glad... that out of all the ways… to die in this stupid world… you… my beautiful mate… killed me… It just… fills me... with… despair…"
Junko's smile stiffened. Her frigid blue eyes glazed over with death. Chiaki took a pulse and confirmed it. Her mate was dead, murdered by her claws.
For a while the two remaining girls stayed in silence, staring at the corpse. Chiaki couldn't think of anything to say. Then it came to her.
"Mukuro, let the remnants know they are summoned tomorrow," Chiaki said, still looking at Junko.
"Y… yes," Mukuro shakily agreed.
"I'll tell them tomorrow, if they have a problem with it, put them in their place," Chiaki said.
"Understood," Mukuro kneeled. "You have my full loyalty as Junko ordered. Is there anything else you desire now."
"Yes…," Chiaki said as she brushed her claws over Junko's wounds. "We'll adjust our plans for the tragedy accordingly, but on that day I want my pack to do something else…,"
"What?" Mukuro asked.
"On the day our Tragedy begins, I want every last person in that shelter dead!" Chiaki growled, "The remnants can choose whatever means of execution they like, but Makoto Naegi is mine!
"Yes," Mukuro tensed up.
"But first…," Chiaki placed a paw on Junko's chest.
With a simple slice, Chiaki cracked open Junko's rib cage, dug into her chest, and ripped out her heart. Chiaki lifted the bloody heart for Mukuro to see.
"I want this transplanted into my chest," Chiaki said.
"Of course," Mukuro bowed. "Anything for you."
Mukuro left to get the necessary materials, leaving Chiaki alone with her victim. Chiaki looked down at her heartless mate covered in so much blood. She knew the remnants would pick her apart like ravens as soon as they knew. That's why she needed to do one last thing while the body was intact. She lowered her body closer.
"I won't let anyone choose to leave me." Chiaki whispered to Junko before giving her a bloody kiss. "Not even you."
