*A Week After The Festival*
Lucy was sitting at the bar minding her own business when she noticed the guild was acting more crazy than it usually does. She could hear all of her guild mates talking to each other about something but she couldn't really make out what it was.
"Hey Levy?" The blue haired girl smiled at the blonde in return before taking a seat beside her. "Whats up Lu?"
"I just thought I'd ask but why is the guild more rowdy than usual?"
"Hmm?" Levy began to look around the guild and soon noticed what the blonde was talking about. "I guess it's because Guildarts sent the master a letter yesterday. It said something about him stopping by to grab a job or two." The blonde nodded in understanding.
"Guildarts..I think Mira said something about him once..isn't he supposed to be the strongest wizard in Fairytail?"
Levy nodded as Mira approached the two. "Did I hear my name?"
"Oh yeah, we were talking about Guildarts. You mentioned him before when we were talking about Laxus's scar." Mira and Levy grew uncomfortable when Lucy mentioned Laxus but all was glossed over when the doors to the guild hall opened.
"They're starting to rise the town up! Guildarts must be here!" A few cheers echoed from the wizards around them. Natsu was practically jumping off the walls from the anticipation of seeing the man.
"He must be really popular among the members here." Mira nodded before giving her response. "Well everyone here is family so since we barely get to see him it's like a family reunion every time he's in town." Finally after waiting a good moment or two the girls saw what appeared to be a cloaked figure approaching the guild.
"He sure is taking his time."
"He's probably tired from his travels. Natsu will probably liven him up a bit though." Once the man arrived the guild ran to greet him. It really was like a family reunion and to Lucy she felt sort of like an outsider, watching from the sidelines.
The man then turned to her and gave her a wave. She returned it but her attention was immediately pulled from her when she saw Natsu run in for an attack. Of course he went flying but Lucy could tell they were close with how they acted with one another. She smiled at their bond before she noticed the man approached the bar.
"Hey Mira can I get a cold one from ya?" Mira of course obliged with a smile. Once he had said drink in his hands he happily chugged it down. "So you're new then?" The blonde jumped a bit before nodding, giving the man a soft smile. "Yeah, I'm Lucy."
Guildart's eyes widened as he stared at the blonde for a moment or two. "Lucy?" The blonde only stared at the man confused. "Yes?" Mira placed another cold one in front of the older wizard. "Lucy joined the guild not too long ago. Natsu and her destroyed an entire port and burnt down a mansion on their first jobs together."
"Technically Lucy destroyed the port." Natsu took a seat beside the blonde.
"It was an accident! Plus that was before I was a wizard here so it doesn't count as a job I've done!"
"Still we had the royal army chasing after us and everything."
"Natsu-" Lucy was cut off by the laughter of Guildarts. "Oh you kids. So then Lucy, welcome to the family! Glad to have ya here." Lucy smiled up at the older wizard and nodded. "Thanks." But before the conversation could continue much further, Guildarts had made his way up the stairs and into the masters office.
"Hey Natsu?"
"Yeah Luce?"
"Does the name Lucy mean anything to Guildarts?"
"Not that I can think of..why do you ask?"
"It's just that when I said my name his eyes sorta widened." Before Natsu could answer a brunette holding a barrel interrupted the conversation.
"Probably just the name an ex-girlfriend of his." Lucy looked at said girl and nodded in understanding. "I'm Cana by the way." The brunette stretched as she spoke. "Lucy." The blonde shook Cana's hand with a kind smile.
"So I take it your close with Guildarts too?" The brunette only shakes her head. "Nah the guys a total player. I prefer to keep my distance."
"I see. Sorry for the assumption."
"Don't worry about it."
*Guildart's POV*
"Master."
"Come in Guildarts." Entering the room I saw the old man looking through some paper work.
"Don't tell me, bills?"
"Unfortunately. Whats new with you?"
"Nothing much, I see you guys got a new family member while I was away."
"Naturally."
"…"
"…"
"Is that all?"
"….She's blonde.."
"Yes."
"Her name's Lucy…"
"I know where you're going with this and I can assure you she's not."
"How can you tell?"
"Because. I just can."
"Thats not an excuse old man-"
"Guildarts. Not every blonde haired girl named Lucy is my missing granddaughter."
"Yeah but it's still possible. You said missing this time not dead-"
"Please enough. I'm done with chasing after false sightings and looking into coincidences. It's been 6 years. My old heart can't take anymore false hope."
"So you're just giving up then? You guys never found her body so that has to mean she's alive-"
"Or it just means we never found her body. Please stop meddling. I'd like to let her rest in peace and I would appreciate it if you would respect my wishes."
"And if she really is alive somewhere?"
"She's not."
"And if she is?"
"Guildarts-"
"Mokorav. What if that blonde down there is your missing granddaughter? Wouldn't you want to know? You and Laxus have spent so many years mourning the loss of a girl that could still be alive fighting to get back to you guys-"
"Don't you think if she really was alive she'd be here already?"
"Mo-"
"She's dead Guildarts. I don't want to hear anymore of this conversation-"
"But what if she was alive and just didn't remember-"
"I SAID ENOUGH!" I stared at the old man in silence. The tension was strong so I chose to back down. Letting out a sigh I turn to the door of Mokorav's office. "Sorry. I just thought that maybe..she looked a lot like the both of you.."
"Thank you for caring." Turning to look at the third master for a moment or two I shook my head before leaving the office. Once outside I smiled down at the still rowdy guildhall. "Those kids."
Making my way to some of the S-class jobs I began to pick a few before making my way to Mira who stamped them happily.
"Are you off then?" I don't know how she stays so happy. I give her a quick nod before saying my goodbyes. "Be safe out there alright!" Waving to the guild hall, I make my way out the giant doors.
"Stubborn old geezer."
Hope you enjoyed! Stay healthy!
