Raena's POV

I stood in front of the mirror, okay look for it. Where is it? I searched my brain but it was nowhere... I couldn't see anything.

"This is so stupid," I told myself and left the bathroom almost running into Charlotte. "Shit," I swore and stepped back.

She looked me up and down," Aren't you going to apologize?"

As if, I rolled my eyes.

"Night," I stepped around her.

"Bitch," she mumbled under her breath, but it didn't faze me. No surprise that no matter where I go, girls will hate me for no reason.

I went into my room and jumped to see Eva sitting on the edge of my bed, she looked up and smiled," We should do something!"

"Shit, Eva. You scared me, what are you doing?," I put my dirty clothes in the hamper.

She shrugged," I've seen you trying to do magic," she admitted.

"You mean seen me fail. I have no magic."

"No, don't say that. You're just overthinking it all... but we should do something take your mind off it."

"Do what?," I sat down in the chair in front of my mirror.

"I don't know," she stretched out on the bed. "We could convince Adrian to let us got to a movie?"

I scoffed," A movie? Seriously?"

"What?," she grinned. "I haven't been to a movie in so long."

"Didn't you just go to one the other day?," I chuckled.

She drew her lips in and grinned," Okay fine, yes I did , but I love going to the movies! It's my favorite!"

"Seriously?"

"Yeah. Wait, why? When did you last go to the movies?," she sat up.

"I can't even remember," I admitted. "'Going to the movies was always just a cover to go do something else."

Eva frowned," What else would be better? There's a new romantic comedy out I want to see."

I sighed," I'm not big on movies."

"What's the last movie you watched?," Eva asked.

My mind drifted to Embry, I had been with him. We had been cuddled together on his couch, it felt so warm. I miss him... I need to call him.

"We should go to the movies," I agreed. "But I need to call Embry first."

Eva's face faltered and she looked to the ground," I... I'll go change," she stood up and hurried from the room. I almost stopped her but I didn't, instead I went downstairs to the computer.

"There she is," I heard Adrian behind me.

"Hey," I kept my focus on the screen. "I need to call my friend back home."

"Oh," Adrian sighed and stood beside the computer. "Who's this friend?"

"Embry," I told him, searching his name in the search engine. His Myspace popped up, I had never seen it before it had some band I'd never heard of as his back cover. Typical, I smiled and scanned for any information.

"A boy?," Adrian looked at the screen.

I sat up a little straighter, Adrian's tone did not sound like he approved," He's a friend," I told him. Not a lie... not the entire truth either.

"Your boyfriend?," he asked directly.

My mind flashed to prom, my arms around Embry as we slow danced, he had asked me. I was going to say yes, he was going to be my boyfriend... then Eva came. I didn't get a chance to tell him...

I changed the subject," Eva wants to go to a movie," I told him," She says there's a new romantic comedy thing, she thinks I'll like it."

"So why are you looking up this boy and not movie times?," Adrian raised an eyebrow.

"Because this boy deserves to know I'm not dead in a ditch," I countered.

"Wouldn't your uncle pass on the message?"

"That's no the point," I gave him a hard stare then looked back to his profile. "Of course he doesn't have his number... Aren't you guys magic? Can't you just find it for me?"

Maybe Cassia can give me the phone with his number one it, I need to talk to him.

Adrian chuckled," Speaking of magic, how is your practicing coming?"

I groaned," It's awful."

Eva came down the stairs with her coat on," Ready?"

"Let me just message him," I opened a chat.

Embry! It's me, Raena. I miss you, I'm so sorry I haven't been able to call, my phone is gone. Please forgive me, I don't want you to be worried. I'm okay, I promise, I really am.

I looked to Adrian, he was casually watching me type.

"Can I really not tell him I'm here?," I was practically begging.

"No," Adrian sounded sad to tell me no, but he still did it.

I should be able to visit soon! I can't wait to see you. Please know that I didn't mean to leave without telling you anything. Send me your number so I can call you! xoxo

I sent the message and looked to Adrian, he turned to Eva and got out his wallet, giving her some cash. I need to call him, he deserves to know... How do I get Cassia alone again?

"Maybe Cassia wants to come," I blurted. "Like a girls trip?"

Adrian looked over his shoulder," I'm sure she'd love to, but she's out right now."

Fuck of course she is.

"Drive safe," Adrian held out my coat. "Eva is driving of course."

"You don't trust me?," I put the coat on.

"I don't trust this city, you've never driven here before."

I also don't know how to drive...

"Have fun!," he waved as we went out the front door and around the side of the house to the driveway.

Jacob POV

There was nothing. No body here had any idea what I was talking about, they thought I was some crazy historian obsessed with the Salem witch trials. How am I going to tell Embry? Where do I even go next? How stupid were we to think this would work? Raena could be anywhere... I had placed a map on the wall of my room, it looked like some murder mystery movie with red marker and bullet points. I had been around the city just looking for a sign of her, I had researched all "witchy areas" like stores and clubs but there was no leads. The underground trial has gone cold and I felt like being here was a waste of everything.

I need a drink, I got my jacket and stepped out of the hotel. It wasn't hard to find a drink, there was bar on every corner of this city, like the people here were all desperate for the same escape I was.

"Hey handsome," a women slide up next to me at the bar.

I kept my eyes on my drink, there was no part of me that was interested and I wasn't in a good enough mood to pretend to be flattered.

"Strong and silent," she smiled. "I like that."

"I'm looking for this girl," I pulled out my phone. "Have you seen her?"

The women took my phone and eyes the picture," No," she shook her head.

I turned back to the bar," Well, she's all I'm here for."

The women didn't say anything, she picked up her purse off the bar and went to find someone else.

Fuck... this plan... well fuck. I'll call Embry in the morning, let him know what I've got, which is nothing. I finished the drink and ordered another. Please, Bella... please find something, I silently prayed.

I felt a prickle, just a slight change in the way the air felt. The hair on my the back of my neck stood at attention and the smell had shifted from the previous minutes. I looked around at the bar, a few people, laughing, loud music and sticky floors, it was a basic bar. I paid the my bill and went back outside. It was stronger, I could smell it, so faint, just barely there on the wind. Like a memory you couldn't quite picture, it was just right there, right on the edge.

Raena? I wondered optimistically then it was gone. I couldn't feel it anymore, but I wasn't about the give up. I turned and headed away from my hotel down the street, searching for the feeling, that hint of something. I felt it again, just as faint and just as fleeting. It has to be something... The wolf inside me must be picking up on it.

I chased it, down the streets of the city, I followed this primal instinct wherever it lead me. It wasn't an exact science, I had to back track a few times, but it was leading me somewhere. The smell got stronger and my heart was racing, it was her. I know it's was her. Everyone had there own scent and this was for sure Raena. It really is her!

Raena's POV

"You didn't like it?," Eva pouted as we headed back to the car.

"My mind... I'm just thinking...," I carried the popcorn with me.

"About Embry?," she asked.

"Yeah," I nodded.

Eva sighed as slid into the driver's seat, she started the car but sat there silently for a moment. She gripped the steering wheel and looked out to the street.

"I'm sorry, Raena."

"Sorry?"

"I... It's my fault, I just stole you away from it. I just... wish I could have been honest with you," she hung her head.

"Eva," I turned to her. "I... I know it wasn't your intention. I just want to talk to him... I just miss him."

"I'm sorry," she said again. "I wish I could help."

"Maybe Adrian will let me head home for a visit... I mean, I like it here, I really do. My uncle thinks I ran away and Embry does too probably... I just want to set the record straight, you know?"

She nodded silently and I kept talking.

"Most people expect this, I mean I'm a junkie. Right now, getting high sounds like the best escape from all of this I could ask for I wouldn't have to think about all the questions I want answers to."

"So you want to leave?," Eva finally turned to me.

"No, that's not what I said," I was frustrated I couldn't explain. "I want to be here... but I want to be there too," I sighed and looked out to the street.

The night was cold, the snow was in dirty piles on the side walk and people were scurrying to get away from the wind. Then I saw him, I knew him... I had seen him before. A man running down the street, looking around wildly in a black jacket.

Jacob? Is that really him? He spun on the sidewalk, looking back the way he's came. He wasn't looking at me, didn't see me in the car. It can't be him. How did he find me!? Excitement stirred inside me, I was actually overjoyed to see him. Did he bring Embry? Is he here?

"Why are you staring at the guy?," Eva asked.

"I know him," I unbuckled my seat belt. "He's from Forks!"

"Raena, no!," Eva grabbed my arm an the popcorn on my lap erupted, sending it everywhere.

"Stop! Let me go!," I pulled away and looked up to Jacob, he still hadn't seen me. I opened the door to the car, but Eva yanked me back inside. It must have drawn his attention, because then he saw me. His eyes were wide and he pounced, running towards us.

"Raena! Stop!," Eva begged.

"Jacob!," I called out to him.

"DOMUM!," Eva shouted and then I was in the house. I was sitting on the floor in the entry way with the stairs in front of me still trying to get away from Eva's tight grip.

"Eva stop!," I said before noticing my surroundings.

She panted and finally let me loose, I blinked not believing that this was real. How did we get here? We were just in the car?!

"Girls? You home?," Adrian came out of his study.

"What did you do?! Why did you do that?," I turned to Eva.

She was shuddering on the floor, her whole body was shaking, her eyes were wide and she looked about ready to cry.

"Eva?! Eva," Adrian came running up to us. "Regina, what happened?!," he demanded an answer.

Then Eva's eyes rolled up and she fell back, Adrian catching her before her head hit the ground.

"Eva!," I screeched in horror.

Adrian pulled her yes open and looked," What happened? Did she use magic?"

"I-I don't know! we were in the c-car and then we were here!"

"Cessabit," Adrian waved his hand over her and her body stopped convulsing.

"Is she dying?! Is this a seizure?!," I gaped in terror.

"No," Adrian told me, suddenly no longer worried. "She over exerted herself, she shouldn't have used such a spell. What happened?"

"Some guy on the street, I recognized him from Forks, Eva flipped out and then we were here," I was still freaking out.

"Did he recognize you?," Adrian's voice was sharp and focused. "Raena did he know you?," he snapped.

"I-I don't k-know!," I moved away from him still staring at Eva's limp body. "I-Is she d-dead?"

Adrian took in a deep breath," No, she is resting. I'll put her in bed," he lifted Eva up and carried her upstairs. He came back down shortly, I hadn't moved from the floor. "Come, take off your coat," he helped me. "Tell me of this man."

"I don't know... he was just some guy. Eva flipped out when I told her."

"She'll be alright," Adrian comforted me. "I just want to make sure you're alright too," he looked into my eyes.

"I'm fine," I nodded.

"Raena, I want you here, to stay and be a member of this coven and I know deep down you want this too, do you not?"

I paused for a moment," I do," I admitted softly.

"Then we must be honest with on another, yes? Tomorrow we need to talk more, but now you should sleep," he then hugged me. "I'm just happy you're safe."

I had never hugged him before but it was surprisingly nice, he was comforting. He pulled back and smiled before giving me a gentle push towards the stairs and going back into his study.

Jacob's POV

I saw her, she was in a car, struggling against the driver. Raena was trying to get out but this other girl wouldn't let her. I jumped, sprinting across the street to the parked car, Raena looked to me and called out, I heard her say my name but then I blinked and she was gone. I got to the car but there was no one there.

She was just here?! Where did she go?! I opened the door, but the only thing inside was a bucket of split popcorn, not a sign of anything else.

"Raena!," I looked back to the street. "Raena!," I circled to the drivers side, but there was nothing.

I didn't imagine this. She was here! I could still smell her, she had definitely been in this car. But she's gone, they vanished...How do they do that?! These witches, goddamn it! I was so close!

"Fuck!," I slammed the car door, a few pedestrians down the street turned, no doubt confused by my rage.

Okay... think. Think about this. I opened the door again, I felt the seats and looked for a sign of anything that could point me to where she went. In the back was some gameboy device and a Mets jacket, nothing that could help me narrow my search.

I got my phone and called Embry, he answered on the third ring.

"Jake?," he answered quickly.

"Em... I saw her. She's here," I was overjoyed but still on the mission of scouring the car.

"Oh my god," Em breathed out. "Seriously? Thank god... is she alright? Let me talk to her!"

I grimaced," They took her before I could get to her," I tried to explain. "They just vanished before I could... shit, Embry."

"But she's okay? She was okay?"

"She looked okay, not hurt or anything."

"Where did you see her? Jake, tell me!"

I looked outside the car," She was just in this car on the street... it's parked outside some movie theater."

"Movie theater? That doesn't make sense..."

"Nothing these people do does. Look, I'm in the car she was in, it was definitely her, but there's nothing that points to where they went."

"But she's there! She's there, Jake and she's okay," Embry sounded like he had just won a noble prize, the worse were full of raw emotion he just couldn't hide. "I'm coming out."

"Em, no. I found her and I promise I'll bring her back."

"Jake, you need to let me come! I can help!"

"I got this... I'm going to find her."

"I'm not asking, Jake. I'm coming," Embry declared.

"No, stay there. I've got this."

"You know you wouldn't stay here if it was Renesmee missing," Embry said the words that felt like a cut.

I sighed, he was right. 100%. No one could keep me from finding her, I would have walked through the icy waters of the arctic and lived in the jungle with nothing but the clothes on my back for months just to keep her safe.

"Jake?," Embry asked if I was still there.

"Embry, I'm trying to look for clues," I changed the topic. "There's nothing here but popcorn and a jacket."

"Wait, so you're in the car she was in?"

"Yeah."

"They just left it?"

"Yeah, they just disappeared, right in front of my eyes... it was crazy," I leaned back against the seat.

"And there's nothing inside?"

"No, it's like the cleanest car ever."

"But the car itself, it's registered to someone, unless they stole it."

"Yes!," I jumped out and went to the front. "I have the license plate: T2P JO7, its a Massachusetts plate. I'm calling Bella, I'm sure they can track it, maybe Charlie can find the owner."

"I'm heading back over now," Embry clicked and ended the call.

I looked towards the movie theater, or maybe they were leaving their base? This could be where they're holding Raena, I walked over to the theater and went inside.
