"Put that Blaster down!" Mirii thrusted her right hand, while frowning at the figure.
"Loud words from a defenseless little girl like yourself..." He aimed his weapon at Mirii. "Raise your hands!"
"Hmpf!" Mirii rose both her hands, while her forehead covered itself with her own sweat. "Do you really think you can stop perfection...?"
"Quiet, you." The figure was perfectly standing still. "Get back down and find the puzzle pieces..."
"For what purpose?!" Mirii lowered her head, frowning even more.
"... one more phrase and I will shoot..." He thrusted his weapon.
"Mirii!"
Her ears rose, as she looked diagonally up.
"Don't worry... with our powers, you will be able to survive!"
"Which powers did you give me...?" Mirii whispered.
"Do I have to say everything?!" The figure bended himsef forward. "Move or I will make you fly back down!"
Mirii gritted her teeth.
"Ignore his words... trust me!"
"... do I have invulnerability...?" Mirii's eyes blinked twice, before her irises went back on the figure. "... that flimsy weapon of yours wouldn't even make my clothes flinching..."
"Wh... what?!" A growl came out from the figure.
A yellow ink ball flew off the Blaster, flying towards Mirii.
BAAM!
Mirii's eyes closed, while holding her breath and tilting herself downwards.
"... WHAT THE TURF?!"
Her eyes shyly re-opened... as she looked over her clothes and her hands.
"How did you do that?!" The figure backed a little.
Mirii grabbed her right tentacle, carrying it in front of her eyes: its colour was yellow.
"... my ink colour..." Her mouth opened widely.
"You see? Now your body adapts to each ink colour it touches. In other words, you are vulnerable!"
Mirii's eyes sparkled a bit... before she smiled.
"But it will not last for too long...! Quick! Go through all those enemy defenses!"
"... you better let perfection pass, foolish man..." Mirii rose her head, as she began walking.
"STOP!" The figure fired another shot.
Mirii ducked, as the shot went above her and exploded before it passed her: the yellow ink was absorbed, disappearing as fast as it came. The girl slowly rose back...
"WHAT ARE YOU?!" The figure twisted behind and ran away. "HELP! HEELLLPP!"
Mirii stepped on the remaining stair steps, as she reached the top. Her head turned left and right: a square-shaped space was located just ahead, filled with sofas and a potted plant growing on its top-left corner. A desk was positioned on the right side, as it had nothing but a pile of papers.
Steps were coming from the right side: Mirii rushed over the left side, as she immediately found herself surrounded by a bunch of closed doors on each side. Rapidly, she turned herself over the right corner, as she faced the hallway filled with even more closed doors.
Her right hand reached the door handle, unlocking it with a simple twist of her wrist. The door opened and the girl walked through the entrance, closing the door and immediately watching the room.
Desk, computer monitor, closed cupboards... her eyes were still scanning around.
"... is this room perfect for the magical operation?" Mirii whispered, as she approached the desk.
"I'm waiting for an answer! What do you have to say about this, Fara?"
"... no, this room is not perfect."
"Wh-why...?"
"Because this room is just a regular one... and regular rooms are usually frequented by Squids. Besides, she is been chased down..."
"You heard those footsteps too, huh?"
"Yes. They will quickly find Mirii, breaking her mind forever... we cannot let them do that!"
"Ok... ok, I will tell her everything, then!"
"... I heard you, Silin..." Mirii was sitting on the desk, analyzing the hardware components residing near it.
"I can repeat everything to you in a more comprehensible way..."
"... be quick..." Mirii began bending herself down, as she hid under the desk.
"Since you are been followed by those people, those ordinary rooms aren't good enough for the whole process... not that they were any good in the first place. You need to find an isolated room or something... can't you think of one...?"
"... a room where no one could disturb me..."
The door opened all the sudden!
"I go check here!"
Mirii's eyes expanded, while a loud door-clicking sound blasted through the air. Step sounds were increasing in volume after each second... suddenly, they stopped.
Mirii was holding her breath... and before she knew it, a Splat Bomb fell right in front of her eyes.
BAAAM!
The girl was entirely covered in magenta... and soon, the step sounds re-emerged. This time, however, their sound volume was decreasing... soon, the door-clicking sound came back.
The whole magenta-coloured ink was absorbed by Mirii's body and clothes... a slamming sound came out too.
Mirii's hands went down on the floor, as she slowly crawled out of the desk, raising her head once completely out. Her sight wasn't mistaken: no living being was on sight. Mirii sighed loudly, as her eyes closed.
"... they thought I wouldn't survive the blast of a Splat Bomb..." Gently, she rose her knees. "... for how long I will be able to hide from them...?"
"That was a close call!"
"... I will call the others for help." Mirii brought her smartphone in front of her face, as her thumb hovered on it.
SLAM!
"Gaaaah?!" Mirii threw her smartphone, catching it up in the air with both her hands.
An Inkling woman was standing in front of the entrance, pointing a Mini-Splatling towards Mirii. Behind her, several other Inkling adults, each armed with their own weapons.
"You thought we were too dumb for your hide 'n seek games, huh?!" The woman pushed the trigger, as the front barrels began rolling rapidly. "Tough luck, Miss Perfection!"
"... h-how did you..." Mirii's back went against the nearby wall.
"We have cameras set on the hallways!" The man from before rose his Blaster, emerging from the middle of the crowd. "They were able to localize you!"
"Cameras invisible in front of the normal eyes?!" Mirii growled silently. "Curses! I should had known!"
"You are done for, stupid girl!" The woman twisted her head towards her right side. "Everyone! Throw your bombs at her!"
Soon, Splat Bombs of different colours flew towards Mirii: the girl dodged the items, as they fell near her feet. The woman began shooting magenta ink from her weapon's barrel, while the bombs began puffing themselves.
BAAAAAAAAM!
Everyone's eyes shut for a moment: the room was filled with various ink colours spread all over the place. The adults gasped loudly: Mirii was still standing near the wall, covering her face with her arms...
"... a-am I..." Her arms lowered down, watching her enemies. "... I-I'm still here!"
"Mirii! Your tentacles!"
"... my tentacles?!" Her left hand grabbed her left tentacle.
The girl also gasped: her tentacle was rapidly changing through each colour.
"... wh-why I'm changing into different colours...?" A sweat drop appeared near her head's right side.
"SHE'S POSSESSED!"
A woman ran away.
"RUN AWAY!"
A man did the same.
"HEEELP!"
Soon, the scientists flee from the hallway... except for the man holding the Blaster.
"... do you dare facing me...?" Mirii folded her arms, as her head rose.
"I-I can't let you stay in my office!" The man pointed his weapon at her. "Th-there are vital files in here... I-I would probably be dead, if I don't do something about this...!"
"... vital documents you say..." Mirii's eyes squeezed a little. "Interesting..."
"Wh-what do you want to do with them?!" He scowled at her.
"Hmpf!" Mirii freed her arms, as she walked around her desk. "I would use them in order to know anything regarding those paintings me and friends found in one of your rooms..."
"We saw you examining them...!" His eyes also squeezed a bit.
"Yes." Mirii's left hand grabbed her left hip, while her right hand waved and grasped her smart at the same time. "This is what we would do, considering the experience we had in the past..."
"Huh?" His eyes grew a bit. "Wh-what are you talking about...?"
"... I hope this works..." She sighed silently, while closing her eyes. "... don't tell me you don't know anything about those paintings... and the events that happened in a certain museum..."
"... how do you know that...?" The man took a step back. "I-I thought that only certain Squids were allowed to know...!"
"You do know nothing about it?" Mirii's eyes reopened.
The man shook his head.
"... allow me to explain..." Mirii's hands went behind her back. "Yes! It's working!"
I knew it!
A fist hit a desk, as a small monitor-screen was transmitting Mirii herself.
I knew I shouldn't had let him go like that...! That darn idiot... he will soon disappear along with those stupid kids...!
"Owie, owie, owie..."
Zira had a bump on her head, covered with a patch on it. She was still wearing the pair of VR Goggles in front of her face, while sitting on her chair.
Ana and Nick were in front of the laptop, observing its screen.
"... what kind of game is this anyway?" A sweat drop grew on her head's right side, as her mouth flattened. "Why does this exist in a laboratory...?"
"I bet this is a demo or something for an incoming videogame!" Nick's eyes sparkled, as he lifted his clenched fists.
"A demo inside a laboratory...?" More sweat drops appeared around Ana's head. "Why would scientists even care about that...?"
"Because it's all hi-tech stuff!" He nodded twice. "And that's not something that regular Squids know how to make!"
"... Nick, shut up." Ana's right hand covered her eyes.
"Don't you understand?! I was meant to have those Goggles!" He shook his fists up and down. "I'm the Goggles Master!"
The door tilted itself wide open! Ana and Nick watched past the laptop: the silouhette of an Inkling boy was standing in front of the room's entrance while holding something with both his hands.
"... time to smash." His glasses shined.
"W-w-wait!" Ana rushed away, as she arrived in front of Zira and halted in front of her. "What are you doing with that hammer, Enrick?!"
"You know what." He walked inside the room, as his eyes were onto the VR Goggles.
"ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND?!" Instantly, Ana arrived in front of him, grabbing his shoulders and shaking him back and forth. "YOU COULD HURT YOUR SISTER!"
"I will be careful, Ana..." He nodded.
"This isn't a matter of being careful!" Ana frowned a lot. "Don't you understand that hitting the VR Goggles would still impact on your sister?! She"
Suddenly, step sounds were quickly invading the room, along with various voices. Enrick turned behind, while Ana shut her mouth: from the entrance, the Inklings were able to see a crowd of Inkling adults running away!
"What's all the fuss?!" Nick reached Ana's left side.
"Those are scientists!" Enrick lowered his eyebrows. "Why are they running like that...?"
"Something bad must be happening in this laboratory..." Ana's hands went in front of her chest.
Zira was slowly walking towards the other three...
"But there is no alarm or something going on..." Enrick wrapped his arms. "... and yet..."
"It must be a silent fire who doesn't set off the alarm!" Nick rose his right forefinger.
"Eeeeeekk!" Zira skipped, passing the three Inklings. "I don't want to become a plate of delicious Squidrings!"
"Darn it Zira, no!" Enrick thrusted his left hand towards her. "Don't go!"
The girl managed to get out of the room, but she was still moving towards a solid wall.
BONK!
Zira fell down again, as four bobble hats were rotating above her head. Enrick arrived, as he bended his knees and brought his hands below Zira's head.
"Oh Zira...!" His eyebrows went up, as his hands slipped below her shoulders.
Ana was seen walking towards the duo, followed by Nick whose left hand was massaging his left cheek.
"She needs medication so badly!" Ana twisted over her left side. "... ah!" She dashed over the direction she was looking at.
Greta was leading the two boys, immediately noticing Ana running in their direction.
"You are runnin' too?!" Her eyebrows 'smiled'. "Talk about things going wild!"
"Zira is injured!" Ana halted in front of the taller girl, as she waved her hands up and down. "Help her, please!"
Hun brought his eyebrows down: he turned into a Squid, as he began sliding on the floor, leaving a green ink trail behind it.
"We ain't medics!" Greta sighed.
"Like, shouldn't we stop Hunter from going in...?" Carlson rose his mouth.
"He would do nothing about this... no matter how hard he will try!" Greta stared at Carlson, as she lifted her right hand for a moment. "I would say that we should call the ambulance asap."
"The smartphone is not picking up any signal!" Ana took out her mentioned device, as she looked over its screen. "... the situation didn't change at all!"
"No worries!" Greta grinned a little, as she took out her own smartphone. "I got it!" Her hand brought the device in front of her face.
"Girl, like... what about Mi?" Carlson brought his hands inside his pockets.
"Don't worry... it's a matter of seconds!" Greta's thumb was tapping on the smartphone's screen.
"Ok..." He shrugged.
The tall boy focused his irises onto Ana who was watching his face, before moving her sight all the way down.
"... you look fine to me..." She stared back at his face.
"Eh?" Carlson rose his mouth.
"... you said 'what about me?'." Ana nodded.
"Ha ha, like!" His eyes closed. "I was talkin' about Mirii, girl!"
"... Mirii...?" Ana's head tilted over her right side.
"Yeah, like... Mi is the nickname we say in secret, since Mi hates it so much." Carlson chuckled. "Like, you better call her normally..."
"Hmm..." Ana brought her head back to its neutral position. "... I don't like this nickname anyway..."
The girl changed her focus over Greta, whose hand was now standing in front of her right ear.
"... Mirii is not with them, now that I think about it..." Ana wrapped her right arm around her right tentacle. "... hmm..."
