I do not own Inuyasha

Sorry for taking so long!

Everything had happened so quick the past week and now Kagome felt a sense of relief but somehow still unsettled with the events that played out. She hadn't spoken to Inuyasha since, feeling it was appropriate to let him reach out to her when he was ready. She understood how difficult it might be for him, and she didn't want to apply any pressure. Instead she let him know she didn't blame him at all and gave him her sympathy. Kagome blinked in surprise when her phone rang.

"San, if you're calling again to see if I changed my mind about tonight, the answer is still no." she rolled her eyes.

"But Kags, it's going to be different without you. Summer is ending soon, and you didn't do much if you really think about it. So, what better way to end it than with my legendary white-out party. Can't you book a different flight."

"Sango, I can't move it, Ayame Yoro is waiting for me at her resort at the Turk and Caicos islands. We're going to finalize the design. She really wanted me to tour the grounds and get somewhat of an idea of what we're going to be building on my lands, we have another flight to catch back to Tendo island in three days. I'm on a schedule." Kagome continued while she folded her clothes.

"Seems like more of a get away if you ask me." Sango whined

Kagome giggled. "I have to admit I'm glad that work has got me so busy, I might just die of despair otherwise. Oh! how does one heal a broken heart?" she exaggerated the latter.

"Shut up, I know you're hurting. You might refuse to show it, but I know you. It's okay. What you experienced was difficult, I mean for heavens sake it's right out of a soap opera! And poor Yash, he's really paying for everything. All I can think of is that poor baby being born under these circumstances."

"That's my life. And well yeah, he's getting it back 10x worse in my opinion. But Yash's heart was in the right place, he meant no harm. And we're all okay, blessed by the kami above. I'm giving him his space for now though and work is taking my mind of it. At least until the trial."

"I still think you could make time for my party, but I guess there is no convincing you is there?"

Kagome sat on the edge of her bed, looking at the piles of clothes everywhere. "No. and if you could see my floor right now, you'd stop being so persistent."

"Call me when you land. And try to have some fun, I know Jakotsu is joining you and this Ayame Yoro seemed nice, she might give you both the VIP experience you need. It's a relaxing spa resort anyways." Sango gave up on trying, deciding maybe getting away might be good for Kagome. "I'll lead the investors meeting for you as planned and keep you updated on that."

Kagome smiled warmly. "I love you San. I'll call you when I land. Have fun tonight."

"Love you too, my sweet honey angel face." Sango cooed.

"You sound just like Miroku, goodbye."

Kagome threw her phone back on her bed. Mentally sighing to herself, she took another look around her room and resumed packing. Sango was right, she felt sad, but it wasn't heartbreak, it was a sense of not knowing what comes next. Her ambitions and self-growth were her motivations, she felt like she was doing all the things she had wanted, and she felt happy with herself, and yet she wondered what her personal life could bring next. This trip was perfect timing, and it could help her come back with a new mentality going into the trial against Kikyo. She vividly remembered how defeated Inuyasha looked when Hiten broke the news, confirming what everyone thought. She had spent the day with him, sailing in his favorite boat that evening amongst friends and having a quiet dinner, friendly in every way. But when they got the call, his whole demeaner changed, and she knew she wasn't at fault, but neither was he. She knew better than to make it about herself and instead she hugged him and told him she was here for him; it would be a difficult trial, but they would get through it. She took her time driving home that night, taking in the cold and dark scenery around her, she had her own feelings to deal with. What's she to do now? She resented the actions Kikyo took, but where does that blame lie? Should she be more upset with Inuyasha … after all, he was the one who was careless with their security systems. She was sure he must've given Kikyo the codes to his safe, she recalled him having a bad habit of taking cash out of there when he didn't have time to go to the bank. Then again, Kagome should've switched all codes when he left, that was careless of her. Kagome sighed and placed her hand on her temples. This wasn't either of their fault, who could've guessed Kikyo to be so psychotic.

Sighing, she finished packing and gathered her important documents, at the very least she could sleep on her upcoming long flight.

Turks and Caicos' was everything you'd imagine. The warm tropical air hit them as soon as they stepped off the jet.

"Kagome! This is beautiful. Can we buy this island next pretty please?!" Jakoutsu basically yelled out, making Kagome laugh and nod her head.

"If we do a good job at making our resort as beautiful as this we just might" she agreed

Ayame Horo smiled brightly and waved at them from her golf cart as she arrived at the landing port.

Kagome smiled and waved. These next few days she'd be working closely with Ayame, she was glad they had hit it off at their prior meetings. She looked at the beautiful scenery one more time before going down the jet stairs.

"How was the flight?" Ayame beamed

"Long, but I slept through most of it. And now waking up to this amazing view. I can't complain."

"I'm so glad you two could make the trip, I have our itinerary's ready! We have a lot to go over after you settle in." Ayame went on excitedly. "I set you both up at the best villa's we have, I have all my heads of departments here as well, we're going to lock down the design, timeline, employee load, and I'm going to walk you through all of it. Our first meeting is later today at 3pm. It's just an initial meet and great, and we will do an overview before we get into all the fine detailing."

"Sounds perfect, I brought my team, which is Jakotsu and I, I trust his vision and I love everything he's worked on he actually designed my former house. He's really gotten to know my taste."

"That was you?! I absolutely fell in love with Kagome's home and the Taisho banquet last year." Ayame admired.

"I don't like to brag but yes that was all me and I hit it right out of the ball-park." Jakotsu brushed imaginary dust off his shoulder.

Kagome rolled her eyes. "He loves bragging."

Ayame giggled. "I'm sure. But I know you both must want to settle in before the meeting later. You have all morning to yourselves, I set you up with your private villas and you can rest if you'd like, go to a spa, or one of our fine restaurants, I have your platinum cards, these will get you into anything and it's all complimentary. I also have a butler that you can call, and he will set up any services for you." She handed them the metallic cards.

"I do need to do some check-ins while I'm here with my accountants. So, I will see you both at 3!" she clapped happily. "The driver will take you and trust me the drive has an amazing view too. Prepare to be amazed, the spots you're staying in are to die for." She yelled out as she drove off on her golf cart.

"Let's see if this place lives up to the hype. And I will absolutely set up a whole-body massage after we have breakfast." Jakotsu sighed

"I'm not going to that meeting unless I get a massage first." Kagome joked back, linking her arm with his as they walked up to their private temporary homes.

Her day had gone by faster than she liked, but alas she was finally about to dip her feet into building her vision.

The head offices for Ayame's resort were everything she thought they would be, amazing and beautiful. They were on the other side of the island, a good 20-minute ride out from where they were staying. They had a Greece aesthetic to them, white building and blue accents to accompany it. Beautiful tropical trees surrounded it all.

Kagome had kept it business casual for her outfit, she wore white slacks and a tan button down long-sleeve polo, accompanied with white strappy heels and her mini Chanel purse.

"Kagome! I want you to meet my grandfather. He made a surprise stop and popped into my meeting this morning." Ayame smiled and clapped her hands to together, behind her was the older Yoro, the man who started this whole business. He had prominent white hair, his energy gave off a sense of strength and leadership.

"Mr. Yoro, it's lovely to finally meet you. I've heard so much about you from your granddaughter, I'm very excited to be working with your company." Kagome shook his hand.

"Miss Kagome Higurashi, I've heard a lot from her about you as well. She took off with this deal as soon as she heard you had the Tendo's island. I trust her instinct, she inherited it from me of course. Tell me how is my great friend Inutaisho?" he took her hand in both of his.

"He's great, I saw him last week, he praised my decision to choose your company to work with! He's expecting the all-inclusive treatment when we're ready to open." Kagome laughed.

"That old-dog is always trying to sneak in trips to my resorts, maybe he'll get off my back having you around huh?" he joked. "I'm confident you two will create something amazing, I'll let my Ayame handle it all, she's trying to push me out of my own company, but I'll let her have complete authority over this project."

"Yes papa, you can oversee it from very far away in your office, far from mine." Ayame kissed his cheek.

He rolled his eyes. "Don't hesitate to reach out if she starts being too much to handle, Kagome."

Ayame laughed pushing him towards the door. "Bye papa"

Her attention was back to Kagome now, "Okay let's start out meeting."

It had been at least 6 hours since they started, they had decided on a budget, looked at other similar sized resorts that they own, looked at the ecosystem they'd be working on and began to see some movement at Kagome's land. She was happy with their progress; over the next 2 days she will begin all construction and can finally start the 2-year journey on perfecting her resort.

"I'll never get used to how long these meeting take but I do get a rush from them, I'll admit. And now I'm ready to move this party to the beach bars." Jakotsu put his arm over her shoulders. "Let's get you to clear that mind of yours that seems to always be running… Ayame darling, we're drinking tonight."

"I could go for a drink" she waived at the chauffer "I'll take you to my favorite spot."

The bar they went to had an amazing view of the beach and firepits that were at the center of each section, dainty lights adorned the ceiling.

"They have the best mojitios here, they keep them coming too"

"I'm sure they do, you're the boss" Jakotsu added.

Ayame rolled her eyes and shoved him. "Anyways, Kagome, I was waiting for the right moment to bring it up, but I heard what happened, how are you doing?"

"What happened?" Kagome repeated

"Your husband's dick was so good that his mistress ordered a hit on you." Jakotsu interrupted as he downed his drink.

Kagome couldn't help but laugh. "Ex-husband" she corrected. "I don't know how I'm doing, fine, I think. I mean everything is fine and I'm doing well for myself. I feel like I don't have any energy left in me to be upset or surprised, I just want to get it over with so I can move on and I don't need to think about it anymore. It's complicated. And I'm not even having much communication with Yash either. I'm fine."

"Usually, when someone says they're fine that many times it means they're not. Kagome you're pushing those emotions away, you need to let it be and stop acting like everything is fine. Clearly, it's not fine. Your life has changed drastically, it's been 8 months. Honestly, I thought the fact that you still hang out with him was weird and I told you this couldn't possibly end well." Ayame rubbed Kagome's back. "You are not at fault for this, that crazy woman made her own decisions, she dug her own grave with no regards for her baby."

"I know it's not my fault, I feel something I just don't know what it is or how to describe it. I miss Yash, he's a great friend and I know it's tough on him too."

"Well if you miss him, I can't argue with you. You can still be friends with the mutt if you want, all I care about is making sure you're okay. We're going to get you through that trial."

"Yeah so what if I miss him. We're all getting through this and then I can go back to the focus I had… can I get another mojito" Kagome asked the waitress who nodded.

"I don't blame you for missing him, he's absolutely delicious." Jakotsu was on drink #3 by now.

"He's not all that." Ayame said in a low tone. Also, on drink #3

"What do you even have against him, he's charming!" he argued back

"Ayame met Yash at a board meeting like 2 years ago, he came off as… rude" Kagome explained

"Not rude, he was a complete prick, acting like he was too good to be at the meeting, I had planned it and it was just a vote on shares but he wanted to act like it wasn't worth his time unless my papa was there. I'm the future sole owner of Yoro Luxury Resorts, at least I don't need to share it with any siblings." She huffed.

Kagome giggled, "He's an ass, I'll admit that" she smiled. "When I first met him, believe me I thought I would hate him for as long as I worked there and I even tried to move away from his branch in the company but I ended up staying because of Inutaisho."

"Whatever, that guy is something else, I still can't believe he landed you." Ayame downed the rest of her drink.

Jakotsu crossed his arms. "He's a dreamboat and that's final."

"Okay enough talking about this. We said we would get drunk tonight and that's something I haven't done in a long-time, so I plan on doing it very well tonight." Kagome signaled for another round and shots.

"Oh, she's bringing back party Kagome, I can't keep up with her… I'm nervous" Jakotsu played it up, putting his hand on his forehead.

"That's right, and we're all taking these shots!" she raised the glass

"This might not be the best idea… with our meetings tomorrow but heck, I've been needing to loosen up a bit. And these drinks are already starting to sneak up on me." Ayame took her shot with them.

The rest of the night was a blur full of dancing and laughing on the beach. Kagome couldn't remember the last time she had let go like this, it felt amazing.

"Wait wait wait! What if we build pool inside a pool inside the ocean? Has that been done, did I just discover something great?" Kagome was laying on the couch at her villa, with Ayame adjacent and Jakotsu fixing them up more drinks in the kitchen bar.

"I think I did that." Ayame replied

"Here?! Where ?!" Kagome jumped excitedly.

"I think it's in my resort in Greece. I'll save you the best villa whenever you want to go, just name the day."

"I love you, you're amazing" Kagome stroked her cheek.

Ayame smiled and rubbed up against her hand.

"You two better not be switching teams, I'll be very upset!" Jakotsu yelled out from the kitchen. "Ayame baby, your resorts have 24 hr. food, right?"

"Yes! Kagome dial 0 on that phone and order us some quesadillas, omg they're to die for, ask for like 10 maybe…" Ayame pointed at the landline.

Kagome reluctantly got up, squinting her eyes and trying to concentrate of dialing. "Hello? Hello? Is this the… uh… food people?" she asked.

'Food people? What are you talking about?' the other line responded

Ayame looked up, finally, holding in her laugh. "Kagome, not from your phone dumbass, from the landline on the counter next to you!" she giggled.

Kagome realized she was holding her iPhone and not the house phone. "Wait so who did I call?" she laughed.

'Kagome?' the other end of the line asked again.

"Sorry, I was trying to call for food." Kagome responded and giggled, she finally looked at the contact name and she could feel the alcohol rushing out of her body. Her eyes went wide 'Inuyasha was on speed dial #0' she looked at Ayame mortified.

"I called Inuyasha" she mouthed

Ayame stopped laughing and went right next to her, trying to press her ear to Kagome's phone.

"Yash, I'm so sorry, I guess I called you by accident." She tried

'Is my contact name like some fast food restaurant or something? How does that happen? Is everything okay, you sound weird.'

"I had a couple of drinks, I'm touring Yoro resorts right now and planning for construction on my island, we got a bit out of hand. Sorry" she put her hand on her face in embarrassment, glad he couldn't see how red her face was.

"Oh, right you picked them to work with, great choice. I'm glad to hear you're finally having some fun again, I thought we lost you there."

Kagome smiled she could hear the teasing in his voice. "Funny, I keep hearing that."

Ayame rolled her eyes and called the actual food number.

'This year has been stressful hasn't it? I think it's good to let loose." He replied

"Right, and the same goes for you, I haven't talked to you since… uhm detective Hiten's call. How are you?" she shooed Jakotsu away, who was suddenly very interested in her conversation.

'Just trying to keep busy with work, sorry I haven't reached out. I was thinking about calling tomorrow funny enough.'

"Don't worry, I know it's weird, given the circumstances but we're still friends and we will get through it together ultimately, but I agree work really helps distract the mind. It doesn't hurt that it's here in paradise either." She added

"It must be nice to get away, and I know how much you love the blueprints in projects."

"I do, I'm loving the planning. I'm excited Yash, if only you could see what we're planning and building. Your input would be great too, I can probably go over it with you, since you have some years over me in the business. You know being old and all." She teased.

"I know I can show you a thing or two, maybe it would be better to go over those layouts with me first." He played along with her.

"Right. I'm going to need to it, asap." She joked.

"I can be there tomorrow evening. What time is your next meeting?" he asked.

She stared at her phone like it had come alive. "Uhm, it's at 4pm, my time"

"Okay, I'll try to make it by then, these layouts better be good."

"They are!" she argued

"I'll be the judge of that, I'll text you my flight details, you can greet me when I land."

The lines went dead, and Kagome didn't know how he had smoothed talked his way into the trip.

"Tell me the mutt isn't coming to my resort Kags" Ayame cut in

"That conversation escalated too quick; I didn't get a chance to say no." She tried to explain. "I guess it wont hurt to have his input, he's very good."

"You're lucky the quesadillas are on their way or I'd be walking out of here right now!" Ayame huffed.

"No big deal, I don't mind at all. I'd like to thank you Kagome, for allowing me to spend the next 3 days with him. And now we can get you laid too, add that to this trip and believe me you will be back home with a new glow." Jakotsu hugged Kagome and clapped.

Kagome stared at her phone, looking at his contact name. Something told her this trip would be everything but relaxing.
