A large Squid jumped out of a paper, as he returned back to his humanoid form and landed on his feet.
Quickly after, a smaller Squid bounced off the paper, turning back into her formal self. Last but not the least, the smaller Squid of the three sprung away from the paper, slamming against Greta and falling on her back.
"Ouch!" She twisted behind, looking at her friend. "That hurted, Mirii!"
The called girl resumed her normal shape, as she was already sitting on a cushion.
"Ya think I could steer mahself after that huge of a super-jump?!" She frowned at Greta.
"... that's ok..." Greta sighed, as her eyes closed and a smile grew out of her mouth. "We are still alive... that's what it truly counts!" She carried her Splattershot near her left cheek, while closing her eyes.
Mirii mumbled while snorting, as she threw her Splatterscope away.
"This is the Shrine alright."
Carlson smiled, as he brought his Splat Roller near his feet.
"We made it just in time!" He twisted behind, looking at the two girls. "Now, we really should talk about what to do next."
"Yes we should!" Greta's eyes sparkled, as her smiling mouth opened widely. "I-I can't wait to hear more wisdom from you, Mr. Carlson..." She blushed.
"Mr. Carlson?!" Mirii bended forward. "Where did you get that from?!"
"... I don't know..." Greta's expression went neutral. "... I feel strange, though..."
"You feel strange all the sudden?" Mirii stood up from her cushion. "That can't be right! The paper trip isn't supposed to give us strangeness!"
"Yeah... and speaking of strange" Carlson stared at Mirii. "You are even stranger than Greta, now."
"How?" Mirii stared back at him, for a while... before she gasped. "W-wait a minute!" Her eyes went wide. "What happened to my speech?! Why I'm talking so normally?!"
"Oh... th-the effect must be running out!" Greta smiled widely. "That means you will return back as the same, lovely Mirii we all know and love!"
"No, I don't want that!" Sweat jumped out of Mirii's head, as her eyebrows went up and her arms opened a little. "I-I hate my conscious self!"
"Tee hee hee!"
Kelly popped out from below, looking at Mirii right in her eyes.
"Finally!" She closed her eyes. "No more meanie Mirii!"
"Wh-what are you talking about...?" Mirii's eyebrows went up. "I-I'm not a meanie..."
"What's my name?" Kelly sported her w mouth in front of her face.
"Kelly." Mirii's eyes puffed. "I mean, Kelly!" Her head shook violently. "Kelly! Kelly!" Her fists clenched. "Aaaahh, wh-why I can't call you Kelly?!"
"Ooooohh!" Kelly's hands went on her cheeks. "I loooove that name...!" She giggled.
"Wh-what's happening to me...?!" Mirii's left hand went over her heart area. "I-I feel..."
"Something is not right, Kelly."
The mentioned girl turned behind, as she blushed in front of the tall boy. He was frowning a little.
"You said that this magical condition would last a few hours..." His eyes closed. "But I'm pretty sure it didn't last even a hour."
...
"... oh." Kelly's eyes turned into two small, white circles. "You know... I didn't thought of that."
"Y-you are telling me that it doesn't last a few hours?!" Greta's face went paler, as her hands went on her cheeks.
"It can't be!" Kelly puffed her cheeks, as she fronwed. "I studied that part so many times, I couldn't possibly be wrong!"
"... also..." Carlson looked over the ceiling. "I don't feel any different from before."
"True!" Greta's eyes sparkled in front of him. "You are so tough and resistant...! Your personality is truly the strongest!" She blushed a lot.
"... I don't understand..." Kelly's eyebrows went up, as she brought her right fist on her chest. "Why is this happening...?" She sprinted towards the shoji. "Wait here!"
She opened it widely, before fleeing through the opening.
"... this is not good..." Carlson sighed. "Right when we are supposed to stay on that ship and stop those Stingrays..."
"I think I can do it pretty well." Greta giggled. "This strange effect isn't that strong on me..." Her irises steered onto Mirii's. "... not for Mirii, though..."
Mirii downturned her mouth.
Kelly returned back in the room, while pulling an old Squid man wearing a dark-blue kimono.
"I did that magic on them, but they are already turning back to their conscious self!" She let the man's kimono, while sprinting towards Mirii. "Especially Mirii!"
The man fell on the floor, as he yelped on the impact. He jerkily rose back, as his eyes were already scanning the called girl.
"... you are..." He coughed once. "You are mortals..."
The Inklings, except for Kelly, nodded.
"... and you came here with your unconscious self leading the body..."
The Inklings, except for Kelly, nodded. The man's eyes shut.
"... then, you are not returning back to your conscious self."
"What?!" The three Inklings bended themselves towards him.
"In fact, your unconscious self is growing stronger." He nodded. "It's being penetrated through the pure energy which is surrounding the whole Shrine..."
"H-huh?!" Kelly's right hand went in front of her mouth.
Greta was simply holding her mouth wide open, while Carlson folded his arms.
"... a-are we destroying our conscious selves...?" Mirii held her breath, as sweat emerged from her forehead.
The old man's head shook.
"At all." He smiled a bit. "They will return once you step out of the Shrine... and after a full day passes."
"Eeeeeh?!" Kelly's irises shrunk, as her arms opened widely. "But this wasn't said during the lesson, teacher!"
"It WAS said." The man threw a cold stare towards the young girl. "You just didn't paid any attention to the lesson, like you usually do."
"Bu-bu-but I studied so well...!" Kelly's tentacles went zigzag, as her eyes went a bit watery.
"You only know the basics, Kelly." The man shut his eyes. "After all, this magic was only illustrated very recently... ... despite that, though..." His eyes reopened. "You managed to perform the magic without any trouble."
"... that means something?" Carlson held his chin with his right hand.
"... for being a drawer, it's very unusual to see them apprehending other types of magic who aren't fit for their role..." The man coughed once, while holding his fist against his mouth. "Not to mention, she is exceptionally good at dancing."
"Indeed!" Kelly nodded three times.
"So, our unconsciousness self will still control our bodies for a great while..." Carlson smiled.
"Hooray!" Greta rose her right fist, while smiling widely.
Mirii smiled too.
"... I don't know why, but..." Her eyes closed. "... I think I will enjoy this..."
