Linda groaned when her phone buzzed on the bathroom counter. She decided to ignore it- no use getting out of the shower for a stupid notification. She finished washing the conditioner out of her hair, and turned the water off. As she sunk into the scorching water, her phone buzzed multiple times. She groaned again, once again ignoring it.
If it's important, they'll call again.
Danny started to get worried when the person of interest wasn't answering their phone. "Come on..." he tried five times before resorting to a different tactic.
Erin looked down at her phone that was buzzing. Danny. Danny never called her at work- he always visited unannounced. "Excuse me." She told her client, "please go ahead and sit in my office." She walked to a quieter part of the office. "This better be important, Danny... what? I don't know. I thought she was at your house... maybe she forgot it?... look, I'll keep an eye out. If I hear or see anything I'll call you... have you talked to Jamie?... maybe he knows. Listen, I gotta go. I'll call if I know anything." Erin hung up and headed to her office.
Jamie was sitting in a bar with his partner, Eddie, when his phone rang. "It's Danny."
"Answer it," Eddie nodded, "it might be important. How often does your brother call you anyways?"
"What's up?"
"Jamie, have you seen Linda?" Danny tried to hide the concern in his voice.
"No. Isn't she at your house?"
"I don't know. She's not answering her phone."
"If I hear anything, I'll call you."
"Okay. Thanks, kid."
"Yeah." Jamie hung up and told Eddie about what Danny wanted.
Linda got out of the shower and dried herself off. She pulled on a small night gown, wrapped a towel around her hair. She put on her husband's robe, partly because she liked that it was bigger and partly because it made her feel more comfortable. She looked at her phone, noticing the texts and calls were from the same number. She called them back, only half surprised they picked up on the first ring.
"Linda? Oh, gosh. Are you okay?"
"Yeah, Danny. I'm fine." She didn't like that time in his voice. "What's the matter?"
"I was about to put out a missing person on you. Why weren't you answering your—"
"Oh, I'm sorry, honey. I was taking a bath. I didn't mean to scare you. I should've texted you. I'm sorry." She heard her husband sigh of relief.
"Good. Next time, could you tell me?"
"Of course... tell you what." Linda leaned against the pillows on the bed. "The kids are at their friends' house. Both of them have upcoming projects with their friends. They're both staying the night. So... I can make it up to you."
Danny's relived face went wicked. "Oh yeah?"
"Mmhmm. I'll do exactly what you do to me. You won't be able to think straight till tomorrow at lunch time. I'll be so mean and... hard... that you won't be able to walk correctly for seventy two hours." Linda smirked as she heard Danny suppress a moan.
"Three days?"
"Yup. You won't know what hit you. Love you."
"I can't wait. Love you more."
"No... I think I'll love you most." Linda hung up before Danny could say anything. She was going to be so mean to him, and she knew he was going to love it.
