Day 10. The family is home because the government encouraged everyone to socially isolate themselves. This is to control the COVID-19 spread. The good thing is that only 1 person in our household is at risk of getting infected.
The door opens with a bang. Elma enters. "Honestly I can't take this!!!" Elma screams waking up Ryou.
"Shh baby" I say holding him.
"Elma what's wrong?"
"Nai I just want a piping hot taiyaki from that bakery near the station. But they're closed."
"There's nothing I can do about it babe"
Elma grits her teeth.
Suddenly I feel a sharp sensation in my leg. It can't budge and it's extremely cold.
I glance down and to my horror I see my right thigh is frozen with 4 pounds of ice.
"ELMA! How could you?" I say.
"Nai, I'm a sorry. I didnt mean to." She shakes. The twins begin to cry. Haru is in his room thankfully.
"Undo this now, please"
She unfreezes me with a waft of her hand.
I look at her from the side of my eye and locked the bedroom door behind me.
I sit on the bed. "What's happened to her?" I thought.
After a few minutes, I hear knocking.
"Come in."
She looks at me with a guilty face and sits beside me on our bed.
"I'm sorry I did that. I really didn't mean it."
"Elma, you had ice powers?"
She nods.
"Sometimes when I'm emotional my powers manifest. I make mistakes but most are harmless. I never harmed anyone with them."
So Elma's highly emotional because she can't get the food she desires.
She continues "It's rare and hasn't happened since I met you. This is the first time since then."
I shrug. "I wish things would go back to normal soon. The world has gone to shit."
The water dragon chuckles.
"At least we're in it together."
"Elma, I want you to promise me one thing"
"What's it?" She places her palm over mine.
"Promise me you'll look after our family if I get sick."
"Of course Nai" she said with heavy breathing in between her words.
