Linda smiled as the conversation turned into the subject of her and Danny's upcoming anniversary. "He was gonna Say, 'I didn't want to fall in love, not at all. But at some point, you smiled and laughed, and holy sh!t, here I am'." She referred to her husband's intentional vows.
The Reagans laughed.
"That was only the first sentences. I wasn't done with it." Danny explained. "It was going to be 'I didn't want to fall in love, not at all. But at some point, you laughed and smiled, and, holy sh!t, here I am. Today. Standing in front of the most beautiful person ever. Who I will love and honor and cherish for the rest of my life. No matter what kinda crap life throws at us. I'll be by your side whenever you fall and when you stand tall'."
"See, if you left out the vulgarity, I would've let you say those," Linda smiled.
"And you didn't tell me this x-amount of years ago?"
The blonde giggled, "I wasn't thinking straight... don't get me wrong! I really Did wanna marry you, it was just..."
"A lot. I know." He threaded his fingers with hers atop the table. Everyone, even the little ones, knew who Linda and Danny had to do all the planning for their own wedding.
Linda nodded, "but it was the best decision of my life."
Danny's lips curled into a smile, "mine, too." He said quietly, kissing his wife.
Everyone momentarily gone until his littlest one loudly proclaimed, "get a room!"
"We've got one." The detective looked at his youngest.
"Then use it!"
"We will, after dinner."
"Danny!" Linda's cheeks went red as the table giggled silently. Sometimes Danny was a pain in the @ss, but she loved him. All his quirks and faults and perfections. She knew she made the right decision all those years ago. She loved her husband with all her heart, her whole being.
"You're thinking loudly," Nicky stated, smiling at her Aunt. "What're you thinking?"
"Just wondering what my life would be like if I married that doctor." Linda looked at Danny, "I can't think of it. Anytime I think of a different life for myself, I can't. This is the life I love. With all you guys, my real family." She looked around the table, "you guys just automatically accepted me. As soon as you knew Danny and I were a thing, you were inviting me to dinners and parties and other things."
"That's because we saw how Danny changed when he met you," Jamie poked his beans with his fork. "You make him complete."
Danny nodded, "you do. I can't imagine life without you." He kissed her again.
Linda smiled and blushed, marrying Danny was definitely the best decision of her life.
