Detective Maria Baez tapped her foot as she waited for the elevator to arrive. She was going to question a victim that was in the hospital. Just so happened that Linda worked in the same hospital.
After getting nothing out of the victim, Baez looked for Linda. She smiled when she saw the nurse filling out a form at the nurses' station.
"Hi, Linda." Baez smiled.
"Maria! Hi!" Linda walked over to give her friend a hug, "no Danny today?"
"He decided to go to the witness' house. Seeing if we can get anything out of anybody."
She smirked, "tell him I say hi. What're you doing here?"
"We've got a victim here. And... speaking of Danny... before we split up, we went to that little coffee shop so conveniently located across the street."
Linda nodded, "I know the one. Danny loves that place."
Baez smiled, "so while we were there, I told him we should get something for you since we were coming over here to see you."
"You didn't have to do that."
"I know, but we wanted to. So Danny said by the way you were tossing and turning last night, you got your period."
"I didn't expect him to come to that conclusion." Linda crossed her arms, wondering where this conversation was going.
"So he bought you this." Baez held out a large pack of Linda's favorite Belgian chocolates.
"Chocolate. Oh, bless you!"
Baez smirked as the nurse opened the pack and popped a chocolate in her mouth.
"Sometimes Danny can be so adorable. Look, they're little hearts!" Linda held up a chocolate heart before giving it to Baez. "Tell him thank you."
"I will. Nice seeing you."
"You, too."
"Reagan." Danny answered his cell phone without looking at the number.
"Hello, stranger."
His lips automatically curled into a smile, "Hey, babe. What's up?"
"Just wanted to say thank you for the chocolates and for being an observant and caring husband."
He shrugged, "you're welcome."
"How'd you know I had my period anyways?" Linda popped another chocolate heart in her mouth.
"Because of your frustrated groans and pitiful whimpers."
She nodded, "well, thank you. These chocolates really brightened my day. Only wish you had delivered them..."
"I know, but I needed to question some person. But it was nice seeing Baez, right?"
At the sound of her name, the detective looked up.
"Yeah," Linda nodded, "She's really nice. I like her."
"So you trust her?"
"Course I do. She's like your sister. Or maybe a cousin."
Danny smirked, "I guess so. I've got a few things to wrap up. You home yet?"
"Yes, thankfully. Now I can really forget about my cramps."
The detective smiled, knowing she was talking about the glass of wine inevitably in her hand. "Don't have to much, I wanna stay up a little with you."
Linda nodded, "I'll save some. But there's no guarantee there'll be any chocolate left."
"That's okay," Danny laughed, "Love you."
"Love you more."
"Love you most." He shook his head and put his phone on the desk.
"What was that part about me?" Baez wondered.
He smiled slightly, ready to tell her what Linda thought about her.
