Not long now! Elijah is back! Keep an eye out for next chapter because I'm going to slightly change the structure of the chapter, I'm going to include some scenes that Brenna isn't in, let me know if you like it or not. Don't forget to review and give me your thoughts I love them! x

On a more serious note, I have had someone, who I presume is about 14, send me some really awful PM's that abuse and threaten both me and my readers, I'm not bothered myself but I don't like them insulting readers, of my story or any story. I'm not going to name and shame, I'm above that, but I was wondering if any of you guys had any abusive or threatening PM's sent to you also, please PM me to we can see if it was the same person, this behaviour will not be tolerated here.

bookbunnyx: I've been trying to hold off on the flashbacks because I have a few planned for the next chapter so I wanted to leave it until then, hope you'll enjoy them.

Mimi: Brenna Mikaelson is definitely coming out!

Coco11: I don't plan to have Brenna at the dinner party, but you guys will definitely see how it plays out, I think it has a lot of backstories that I want to include in this.

Liz: We're getting flashbacks next chapter, look forward to it

Oz: We'll hear from Katherine next chapter

Riri: I love the Brenna-Jeremy dynamic!

Guest 2.0: Aw thanks, how sweet

.2020: She loves Kol, Klaus is in love with her however and she considers him a very close friend

KatieBirdy: Thank you! She's going to be coming more into her own in the next few chapters as well as her relationship with the Mystic Falls gang begins to crumble.

.staras: You've convinced me haha! Here's your chapter, enjoy

"Hey, where were you guys?" Brea asked as Elena and Bonnie walked into the Gilbert house.

"Umm…" Elena said looking at Bonnie.

"At the police station," Bonnie answered. "We asked the sheriff's office to get me information on Abby Bennett."

"Oh my god, you're looking for your mom?" Brea asked. "Why?"

"I've been having dreams about her, I just need to find her," Bonnie said glancing at Elena. "Want to help?" Bonnie asked.

"Yeah," Brea nodded. "Yeah, absolutely," she said and the three girls sat down at the kitchen table.

"Where were you this morning Brea?" Elena asked.

"Oh, Ric gave me a training session, was not fun," Brea said.

"I'm glad you're actually training," Elena said. "It'll help you defend yourself."

"Against the things that go bump in the night?" Brea mocked while smiling at her sister before she looked at Bonnie, "you ready?" she asked.

"Ready as I'll ever be," Bonnie sighed before they got to work, sifting through the pile of Abby Bennetts.

"Los Alamitos?" Elena asked, holding out a profile to Bonnie.

"Too old," Bonnie groaned as she had a look.

"Honolulu?" Elena asked.

"Would be cool if it was Hawaii," Brea smiled.

Bonnie laughed, "urgh, I wish. How many of these are there?"

"A lot," Elena groaned.

"Whoever finds her first wins?" Brea suggested.

"It's not a game Brea," Elena sighed.

"That's the attitude of a loser," Brea smiled back at her sister.

"There's a lot," Elena said rolling her eyes and turning back to look at Bonnie. "I asked the sheriff's office to pull every single Abby Bennett in the country."

"It might take a while, but we'll find her Bon," Brea smiled.

"I know we haven't been able to really..." Bonnie said to the twins before hesitating. "That things have been weird because of Jeremy. So thank you both for helping me with this. I know you guys have a lot to deal with."

"There's nothing more important, Bonnie," Elena said leaning forward.

"It's surreal. Having to track down a woman who bailed on her own kid."

"You know you don't have to, right?" Elena said. "Let Stefan obsess over…" Elena said trailing off.

"Stefan?" Brea asked sitting up straight. "Do you know where he is? Elena, if you know where he is you have to tell me. You to Bonnie, do you guys know where the coffins are?"

"Brea…" Elena said.

"We don't know where the coffins are," Bonnie said. "Stefan tracked me down a while ago, he hasn't shown me the coffins you're after. He said he has three coffins in hiding. He showed me one though, I can't open it. It's spelled shut."

"A fourth coffin?" Brea asked confused. "I've never seen an extra coffin. That doesn't make any sense. And spelled shut? Nik's never really been a big fan of witches why would he get one to seal a coffin?"

"We need to know what's inside. It could be a weapon, who knows, and it's spelled shut, so that makes it a witch problem. So it does fall on me. I was bound to see my mother again sooner or later."

"Sooner," Damon called out as he let himself into their house.

"It's polite to knock you neanderthal," Brea teased.

"Haha," Damon said sarcastically. "Abby Bennett Wilson, Monroe, North Carolina," Damon said holding up a pile of papers. "Born Mystic Falls Hospital, graduated Mystic Falls High, blah, blah, blah," he said coming to stand by the table and the girls stood up as Bonnie took the papers from his hands.

"How did you win the competition?" Brea whined.

"A little compulsion helps speed up the research process."

"Ah-ha you cheated," Brea pointed at Damon with a smile.

"This is her," Bonnie said.

"Yep. Road trip," Damon smirked. "I call shotgun."

"Yeah, no," Elena said shaking her head.

"Want me to hang out in the back with you? Brea can ride up front," Damon smirked.

"You're not coming, Damon," Elena said bluntly.

"Why? I'm the one who found her," Damon whined.

"Ok, Damon, look," Elena said turning to him. "Bonnie hasn't seen her mom in over 15 years. We don't need your snarky commentary narrating the experience," Elena said taking a step forward, only for Damon to step in front of her, staring at her, preventing her from going anywhere.

Bonnie and Brea frowned and looked at each other. "What's going on with you two?" Bonnie asked eventually.

"We kissed, now it's weird," Damon said and Brea's eyes bugged out. "Have a great trip," he said before leaving the house.

"What!" Brea squeaked in a high pitched voice. "How could you not tell me this? Elena!" Brea screeched and shoved her sister's arm.

"Umm," Elena said looking between the two girls. "So we kissed the other night."

"What night?" Brea asked.

"The night Ric was in the hospital."

"I was here though?"

"You were watching Bambi with Jer, it was after Damon…" Elena said trailing off as she looked at Bonnie, not wanting to mention Jeremy being compelled.

Just then, Brea's phone rang, and she looked down to see Klaus calling her, "I need to take this, we are not done with this though," Brea said pointing a finger at her sister before walking out of the room. "Hey," she said as she answered her phone.

"Hello, love, how are you today?"

"Good, I need to ask you about something.

"You can ask me on the way if you want."

"On the way?"

"I'm headed to the Salvatore's house. Thought I'd try to negotiate with Stefan. Figure it's about time I include you on these plans rather than exclude you. Want in?"

"Yeah, 100%, absolutely."

"I'll pick you up in 10 love," he said hanging up.

"You ready to go Brea?" Elena asked as Brea came back into the kitchen.

"Um change of plans, I can't come," Brea said.

"Oh no, why?" Bonnie asked.

"Caroline wants to hang out," Brea lied. "She had a rough birthday, needs some girl time."

"Fair enough," Elena said. "Well, we're taking off now so we'll see you later on tonight."

"Yeah, ok, bye guys, and Bonnie, good luck, I hope it goes well," Brea smiled as Bonnie and Elena left. "We're talking later!" Brea yelled at Elena as they walked out the front door.

"Hey," Brea said as she got into Nik's car.

"Morning love," Nik greeted.

"There's a fourth coffin," Brea said immediately and Klaus tensed. "What's in it?"

"Something that can't be released."

"Nik. What is it?"

"My mother."

"What?"

"My mother is in that coffin."

"Your mother's dead. She died a thousand years ago, how is that possible?"

"Her body is preserved. She obviously has some witches on her side. If she is resurrected she poses a threat to us all. Especially you."

"Me?" Brea asked.

"I heard her talking to Mikael after she put the spell on you. She regretted it, said she messed with the balance of nature too much by turning us into vampires, helping you pushed her over the edge. She wanted to make things right. That's why she put the curse on me, suppressing my wolf side. She was trying to work out how to undo the spell on you, restore the balance of nature, she almost worked it out too, that's when I…" he trailed off.

Brea's head snapped to look at him, "you killed your mother to protect me?"

Nik nodded pursing his lips, "I'd kill anyone to save you," he said seriously. "I saw her working on the spell and I went into a blind rage. I just snapped. We're here," he said parking and getting out of the car before running around to Brea's side, opening the car door and offering his hand.

"Thanks," Brea said taking his hand as he helped her out of the car, Brea sighed and turned to him, "we're on the same side right?" Brea asked and Nik nodded. Brea sighed before revealing, "Bonnie is trying to get into that coffin."

"The Bennett witch?" Nik asked and Brea nodded and Nik growled. "How do you know?"

"Bonnie's looking for her mother," Brea said as Nik jerked his head and the two of them walked into the empty Salvatore house. "She's having dreams of her, she told me that they think whatever is in that coffin is a weapon and because of that, she's looking for her mother, presumably to help her open it. Stefan showed her the coffin, so she would have already tried to break her own way in there, she can't. She needs help. So she's tracking down the mother that abandoned her, all in the name of taking you down."

Nik turned on the radio and poured himself and Brea a glass of bourbon, "did she tell you where the coffins were?"

"No," Brea shook her head. "I asked, she said your mother's coffin isn't with the others. Stefan must have separated them. Elena and her haven't seen the other three coffins, only your mothers," Brea said as the two of them sat down on the same couch and Brea took a sip of her drink. Nik then smirked and lifted his finger to his lips indicating her to not say anything sensitive just as Stefan walked through the front door.

Stefan sauntered through the house ignoring them, and he grabbed the remote and turned the radio down, "what are you doing here Klaus?" he asked.

"Enjoying our stalemate," Nik answered.

"What do you want?" Stefan asked.

"Question is, what do you want?" Klaus asked. "My hybrids left town as you demanded so please tell me what I need to do to get our family back."

"Well, ahem, see, Klaus, um…" Stefan said sitting down in a seat opposite Nik and Brea. "I'm not negotiating."

Brea's face dropped and she took a deep breath, "Nik," she pleaded worriedly.

Nik nodded at Brea to reassure her before turning his attention back to Stefan, "you understand that holding them indefinitely is the same as thing as dropping them in the ocean."

"No, no," Stefan contradicted. "You leave Mystic Falls and then give me a call in a few years and we'll talk."

Brea fidgeted in her seat, clearly distressed and Nik looked at her and tapped his glass, "drink up love," he said downing his own and she followed suit. "I'm going to give you another chance," he said to Stefan. "Just one more. Let's make a reasonable deal."

"Or what?" Stefan challenged. "You make one move and I will drop…" Stefan began to threaten but Nik laughed over the top of him, dismissing him.

"That's right," Nik laughed. "Crazy Stefan," he mocked. "How's that working out for you? Any friends left? Let's go, love," Nik said standing up. "Give Stefan a chance to mull over his options."

"Hey," Brea said to Matt as she walked into the Grill.

"Hey," he greeted with a wide smile, "you know I don't finish for 3 hours right? So we can't exactly hang out right now."

Brea smiled and shoved his arm, "I know, but not everything is about you, bestie. I need a table, please. Your section."

"No way. I hate having you in my section, I'll seat you in someone else's, you won't annoy them."

"Come on Matt. I promise I'll be good."

"Fine, just you?"

"I need a table for two," Brea said.

"Who are you…" Matt went to ask when the door opened and Klaus walked in, "are you serious?" Matt asked Brea angrily.

"Sorry love had to make a call," Klaus said as he came to stand next to her.

"Brea!" Matt said incredulously.

"Matt," Brea said annoyed, "not now," she huffed.

Matt puffed his chest before exhaling loudly, "fine," he growled. "You know where my section is, pick any table," he said walking off.

"Charming," Klaus said rolling his eyes.

"Don't start," Brea said as she walked towards Matt's section of the Grill. "Where do you want to sit?"

"How about here?" Klaus asked as he grabbed a chair to pull it.

"No!" Brea almost yelled and she grabbed his arm before his hand could reach the chair, "not there. Anywhere but there," she said shakily and Nik nodded retracting his hand and gestured to a table a few spots down and Brea nodded and followed him to the table, allowing him to pull the chair out for her to sit down.

"You alright love?" he asked as he sat down opposite her.

Brea nodded and looked behind her with a sad smile. "I always sat there with Jenna," she said sadly and Nik looked down at the floor ashamed. She turned back to face him, blinking back tears, "what call did you have to make?" she asked.

Nik, eager to change Brea's focus from her dead aunt, told her, "I saw a deputy when we got here, awfully chatty, he was more than happy to give me the address of a certain Abbey Bennett Wilson."

"Bonnie's mum," Brea nodded.

"I sent a hybrid there," he told her and Brea's eyebrows went up. "I won't do anything without your approval, but I have a plan. My hybrid won't do anything until I give him the green light."

Brea nodded "what's the plan?"

Before Nik could tell her, Matt came up to their table, " the usual Brea?" he asked.

"Thanks," Brea nodded.

"What's the usual?" Klaus asked and Matt ignored him.

"A cola and a basket of fries, boring but good," Brea answered.

"You want anything?" Matt asked Klaus while barely looking at him.

"I'm good mate," Nik answered and Matt nodded walking off. "Cheerful fellow," Nik said.

"Don't," Brea said. "He's my best friend, he just doesn't like you. He's the only one that kept me sane over summer after you screwed me up. I lived with him pretty much the whole time. He's my best friend and he's had a hard life so you're going to leave him a substantial tip when we leave to help him out," Brea instructed and Nik smiled and nodded in agreement. "So, the plan?" Brea asked.

"I have a hybrid at Bonnie's mum's place. She lives with a young man, an adopted son of sorts, Jamie. My hybrid is awaiting orders to compel Jamie to kill himself if Bonnie doesn't tell her mother the location of the coffins. Jamie will tie up your sister, keep her safe and out of the way so she can't cause any trouble. Bonnie and her mother will go on a little trip to meet my hybrid, where Bonnie's mother, wanting to save Jamie, will get Bonnie to reveal the location of the coffins, she'll tell my hybrid, my hybrid will tell me and then we'll go get and get our family."

"Ok," Brea agreed.

"Ok?" Nik asked, shocked she agreed so easily.

"Yeah. It's a good plan. Bonnie's mum won't want the boy to die and Bonnie won't want to disappoint her mum. If we get the information straight from your hybrid, they won't have time to move them all somewhere else. It's a good plan so long as no one actually gets hurt," Brea approved and Nik smirked and pulled out his phone.

"Daniel," Klaus greeted as his hybrid answered, "how's life on the road?" Klaus held up his finger and walked off to the bar, the second he left Matt appeared.

"What are you doing?" Matt asked sitting down. "Are you insane?"

"Matt, come on," Brea complained.

"Come on, Brea. You're just going to forgive him because he promised to be on your side and try not to hurt you anymore? You don't believe that do you?" he asked.

"I do," Brea said, almost making Matt recoil in shock. "Matt, come on, please. He just wants to get his siblings back. He promised no one else I love will get hurt. Stefan stole our family Matt, we have to get them back."

Matt sighed, tapping the table with his hand, unsure what to say, "do me a favour?" he asked. "Just remember the people in Mystic Falls, we're your family too. Elena, Jeremy, Ric, Caroline, Tyler, Bonnie and me, the people you grew up with, we're all your family. Remember that before you throw yourself headfirst into the path of Original family drama, I'll go get your drink," Matt said walking off as Klaus got back to the table.

"You alright love?" he asked and Brea nodded. "I understand love, you have family here, but it's ok to have two families. Them and us. I won't make you choose. But I did bring you a gift," he said holding up two glasses of rum. For your cola," he winked.

"Here you go," Matt said placing her drink and fries on the table before walking off.

"Don't tell Ric," Brea smiled pouring the rum into her cola.

"No way!" Brea laughed. She and Klaus had downed a few more drinks and Brea was now giggling away happily.

"I swear it!" Klaus smiled.

"I always thought it was Rebekah, I cannot believe it was you who stole Elijah's book."

"He had no idea," Klaus laughed.

"He was mad for months," Brea giggled. "Why did you take it?"

"He was being all self-righteous, more so than usual so I decided to punish him."

"Another drink Nik?" Brea asked wiggling her eyebrows.

Nik smiled, "absolutely," he said and went and got more beers from the bar and brought them back.

"Serious talk," Brea said after taking a drink. "Don't you miss your family? Don't you get lonely? Why keep them in boxes, what does it leave you with?" Brea asked. "You're not exactly easy to be friends with," she smiled to lighten the mood.

"I love my family," Nik laughed. "I've seen you with your different families over the centuries, you'll love them one day and want them gone the next, now don't deny it, love. But I guess, I've always had you and at least one sibling. I've never felt alone until this last century when I had no one," he said looking at her before he quickly added, "anyway the mindset you have when a sibling leaves is what stays with you when they're gone."

"So true," Brea agreed quickly. "I'll give you that. But Jer has only been gone for a couple of days and I miss him like crazy. How do you keep it up?"

"I aways dagger my siblings after they've disappointed me. You sent Jeremy away for his benefit. Your last emotion when he left was sadness, mine was always rage. It leaves you with a different vision of the sibling relationship after the fact."

"Will you dagger Bekah?" Brea asked drinking her drink. "For betraying you and running away?"

"What?" Nik asked looking at Brea confused.

"When she comes back? She was just scared, please don't."

"Brenna… love, Rebekah is already daggered," Nik said reaching across to grab her hand.

"What?" Brea asked shocked. "When did you do that!"

"I didn't."

"Well, then who did?"

"Your sister."

"Elena?" Brea asked shocked. "When?"

"Night of homecoming."

"No, Elena told me she left without saying… oh my god, Elena daggered her," Brea said in realisation as Nik nodded. "She lied," Brea growled. "You know what," Brea said leaning towards him and grabbing his hand, "ever since you've got to town you've hurt me. In so many ways. But the one thing you haven't done is lie to me. Elena has lied to me so many times," Brea scoffed.

"Hey," Nik said moving his hand up her arm so they were holding her forearms and he leant closer to her, "I promise you, I will never lie to you. I care about you more than I care about myself Brenna. I promise. You can trust me," he whispered as the two of them stared at each other. A moment later, Nik's phone rang and Brea threw herself back into her chair and Nik looked down disappointed before he pulled out his phone, "it's Daniel," he said and Brea sat up straight. "What do you have for me?" Nik asked answering the phone before he smirked, "well done, let them go," he said hanging up. "Let's go get our family love," Nik said smiling.

Brea's face lit up, "where are they?"

"An old witches house," Nik said standing up. Brea's face faltered. "You ok?"

"The witches house?" Brea asked and Nik nodded. "It was right under my nose. How did I not see it?"

"You know where it is?"

"Yeah, yeah, I know," Brea said nodding. "Let's go," she said turning around. "Leave a good tip," Brea called as she made her way to the front of the Grill, she ran into Matt on her way out, "we will be talking later," she growled before she marched over to Nik's car.

"This is it," Brea said as Nik pulled up. "The witches here are really anti-vampire so be careful," she said as they got out and walked in. The car ride over had been completely silent.

"Well this has got to be it," Nik said as they walked into the basement to see it full of lit candles, it was the only room in the house with a sign that someone had been there recently.

"Where are the coffins?" Brea asked looking around the empty room.

"I don't…" Nik said trailing off as he grabbed Brea and pulled the both of them out of sight and Damon came running into the room. As Damon looked around Nik sauntered into sight, happy to make an entrance. Brea rolled her eyes and walked out after him. "What took you so long?" he asked. "Hiding behind your witchy friends. And in squalor, no less."

"Brenna, what are you doing here?" Damon asked concerned.

"Don't talk to me," Brea hissed, almost making him flinch. Just then, all the candles lit up and Nik fell to the floor screaming in agony, holding his head. "Nik!" Brea yelled, dropping down to his level and holding his arm in comfort.

"Insulting a bunch of dead witches? Not smart," Damon smirked.

Brea looked up at him, "make them stop," she said desperately.

Damon looked at her sadly before continuing, "I made the same mistake the first time I came here."

"Well, you know, the funny thing about witches is that living or dead, they care about their own," Klaus grunted in pain. "A hundred dead witches have a thousand living descendants," he threatened before he screamed in even more pain, nearly collapsing into Brea. "And I have no problem killing every last one of them if I don't get my coffins back," he said as he slowly fought against the pain and stood up, keeping a hand on top of Brea's so that she rose with him. "As we speak, my hybrid friend is prepared to end the Bennett line," he said and the candles relaxed to their normal state, and the pain in Nik's head was gone.

"Are you ok?" Brea asked concerned.

"Fine, love," Nik smiled before he released her hand and walked forward to stand in front of Damon menacingly, "now. Please, show me the coffins," Nik asked the witches and three coffins magically appeared in front of them all and Brea breathed a happy laugh, locking eyes with Nik with a wide smile. Nik moved to Brea and took both her arms before looking at the coffins, "here we are," he smiled, not a second later, his smile dropped.

"What?" Brea asked, hers dropping as well.

Nik's eyes darkened and he let go of Brea's arms and turned to Damon, "where's the fourth?" he asked. Brea turned and noticed his mother's coffin was missing and she drew in a sharp breath, this was not good. Damon smirked at Klaus and he roared "show me!"

"What did you do?" Brea asked Damon.

"Glad you asked," Damon smirked before looking at Klaus, "well, uh, here's the thing. They can't. It's not here."

"What did you do?" Klaus asked.

"Well, Bonnie gave me the heads up. I mean, I didn't have enough time to get all four, but I did have time to get one."

Nik stalked towards Damon, "I will tear you limb from limb," he threatened. "And only then, when you're a writhing mass of blood and flesh will I rip your heart from your chest."

Brea's eyes widened at this threat and she ran forward, stepping around Nik to place a hand on his chest, "stop," Brea pleaded.

"Sorry," Damon sarcastically apologised and Brea turned around to face Damon angrily. "Same rules apply. Leverage and all. I know you want your family back. But something tells me you want what's in that coffin a lot more. See you later Brenna," Damon winked before walking out.

"Let's go, love," Nik said quietly. "I called some of my guys before we got here, they're on their way to pick up the coffins and bring them to mine."

"Can you drop me at mine?" Brea asked hard looking at him. "I need to grab a bag, I'm staying at Matt's tonight."

Brea walked through the front door of her house to see Elena and Ric talking, Elena turned to Brea with a wide smile, "Ric kissed Meredith!" Elena said excitedly.

Brea looked between the two, "happy for you Ric," she said monotonously before heading upstairs.

As she was throwing her clothes in a bag Elena came to stand in the doorway, "you ok? You're packing, are you staying at Matt's tonight?"

"Yeah, and maybe every night from now on," Brea snapped.

"Woah, what's going on?" Elena asked confused.

"You lied to me!" Brea yelled, picking up her bag and turning around. "I will not stay under the same roof as someone who has the audacity to lie to my face on multiple occasions."

"Like what? Brea, I don't understand what's happening," Elena said confused.

"You daggered Rebekah," Brea snarled and Elena's face dropped.

"I can explain."

"Don't bother, because you also knew where all the coffins where and you kept that from me too didn't you?" she challenged and Elena stuttered. "You knew where he was Elena. And you didn't care enough to tell me. You know how miserable I've been, and you didn't care enough to help me, your twin sister," Brea hissed pushing past her teary twin as she raced downstairs.

"Hey, where you going?" Ric asked as Brea opened the front door.

"I'm staying somewhere else, I'll see you at school," Brea said slamming the door behind her, not looking back as she got into her car.

"You finally got your family back," Brea heard the hybrid Daniel say as she ran into the room. "You going to open them?" he asked and Brea beamed at Nik, she'd been waiting for this moment.

"Not quite yet," Nik said and Brea's face turned to rage.

"What?" she snapped.

"I still have some unfinished business to take care of," Nik said walking out of the room, unable to meet Brea's eyes.

"Are you serious?" Brea asked storming forward to follow him.

"What business?" Daniel asked and Klaus turned to answer when Daniel cried out in pain. Nik very quickly flung his arm out and moved forward to shove Brea behind him as he took a protective stance in front of her. Daniel's body then dropped to the floor to reveal Elijah, Daniel's heart in his hand.

"Elijah," Brea breathed shoving Nik's arm out of the way as she ran at him, throwing herself into his arms. Elijah hugged her with one arm, so as not to get Daniel's blood on her.

Elijah gently kissed the top of her head before releasing her and kindly leading her to stand off to the side as he turned to look at his brother. "So Niklaus."

"Elijah," Nik whispered in fear.

"What did I miss?" Elijah asked menacingly.
