MoonPriestess30: Sebastian doesn't seem to get the point. *shrug*

Chapter 67 – Conflict at the worst of times.

Makatza and Sebastian read in the study as they enjoy each other's company. 'How is the book treating you?' She says upside on the armchair as she reads something that he had suggested about the beginning of the Chantry.

Sebastian who was in the other armchair with a leg crossed over the other, ankle resting on his knee as he reads, 'it's graphic,' he says flicking the pages. 'I do not get what a detective is though, from what I've gathered they are a type of Guard?'

'A specialised Guard, they hunt the nastiest of people,' she says as she grins at him. She had given him one of her other world books and it was a police series that she loved. 'In that one they're hunting someone who's murdering others and then turning them into dolls,' she says as she twists around in her chair to see him better. Her puppies and Bubble were exhausted from their run and were in a rather smelly dog pile in the foyer that she could see through the open door.

He nods and goes back a couple of pages, 'there's a couple of things I don't get, what's a computer and why are they looking up it? Is it a type of clothing? Does it have maps inside?' He asks. Makatza stifles a laugh with her hand and smiles at him.

'Magic box that gives you information,' she says simply. 'Everyone can use their own magic box and give it new information, they can even write letters and talk to each other through it,' she said in layman's terms. 'Same with a phone, that's a smaller magic box. Portable.' Sebastian nods with an impressed face and then turns back to the book, keen to get into it now that he had a few things cleared up. Makatza grins to herself and turns back to her own book, it was interesting to see how the religion formed in this world, the elves had the dread wolf and old gods, the Tevinter Imperium had the dark gods and the dwarves would pray to their ancestors. She didn't really feel inclined to any of them despite her heritage, she knew demons were real and that spirits were in the physical world, who was she to argue with who created them. She looked at the time and frowned, it was getting late and Garrett still wasn't back. She huffed and sat up straight but then heard the door click in the foyer. 'I think they're back!' She says happily as she bounces out her chair.

She ran into the foyer just as Garrett and Fenris walked in, she bounces up to greet them but notices that they both look a little worse for wear. 'Sorry, we're a little sore. Health potions only do so much,' Garrett says simply as he greets Bubble who walks over to greet him.

'Oh, sit down I'll heal you,' Makatza says simply as Garrett sits heavily in his armchair. She runs her hands over him lightly and then allows her mana to wash over him hopefully healing any conditions he has. It takes a few minutes as he seemed to have injuries in most places. 'There, done, Fenris?' She turned around to see him struggling to take his sword off. 'What?! Why didn't you say you were badly hurt.'

'I am not badly hurt, just inconvenienced,' he corrects as he manages to pull it off and put it to the side. Makatza grumbles as she comes over, looking for his injuries.

'You've dislocated your shoulder! You must be in pain,' she snaps as she looks at him.

'Discomfort,' he says simply as he watches her face flush with annoyance.

'Discomfort are you joking me? That seriously hurts I know, believe me, there's no way you're just in...in...in... discomfort,' she says stuttering as she catches the look on his face, he was amused and she realised. 'You're taking the piss! Winding me up! Oohh! You're lucky I care or I would just leave you like this!'

'Please do not do that,' Fenris says as he wipes the smile from his face, he was in considerable pain but he didn't want her to be worried about him. Miffed and annoyed was better than her concern. She pouted as she came over and took hold of his arm giving it a sharp jolt and twist. 'Venhedis!' Fenris swore hitting the wall with his good hand. 'Woman! Warning! Next time!' He snaps, his humour vanishing quickly. She doesn't say anything as she floods his body with healing mana soothing the burning in his shoulder from his dislocation. He breathes in deeply and sighs, 'I am sorry, I should not have snapped at you.'

'No, you shouldn't have but you're forgiven and you're welcome,' she says softly. 'Next time, please don't delay it. What happened?'

'Tal Vashoth,' Garrett sighs from his chair. 'I swear they'd be the death of me- Oh, hey Sebastian, didn't know you were still here. You have as much fun today as I did?' He says in dry amusement as the Prince wanders out the study still holding the book.

Fenris turns to Makatza, his displeasure clear on his face, 'he is still here?'

'Yes, we had lunch out near the forests and then when I came home I asked if he wanted to stay for dinner,' she explains. 'We were reading in the study, he's quite interested in that detective series that I was reading,' Makatza says simply. 'He suggested that I read a book about the beginnings of the Chantry.' Fenris wasn't happy it was obvious but he didn't say anything more. Sebastian walked over having caught up with Hawke and smiles at Makatza. 'Are you leaving?' She asks.

'Yes, I will leave you to your evening, if you don't mind I would like to borrow this,' he says holding up the book.

'Of course, I'll see you to the door,' she says as they chatter about the book. Fenris has to bite back on certain words when he sees Sebastian hug her tightly and kiss her cheek.

'We should go out again and not just meet for Archery lessons,' he says quietly; he wasn't aware that Fenris could still hear their conversation even though he was a few metres away. Makatza nods and smiles at him.

'I'd like that, I feel like I don't see you enough,' she grins.

'Think about what I said, Katza,' Sebastian says making her blush and sigh. Fenris couldn't let that one lie, he walks forwards towards the pair and crosses his arms in front of them.

'What did you say?' He states bluntly looking at the Prince.

Makatza shook her head, 'it's nothin-'

'I asked her to come to Stark Haven with me,' Sebastian says simply not backing down at the tense elf. 'I understand that would mean that you would join her but at least I could protect her from the Imperium there. She would live comfortably and I would be able to see and talk to her often.'

'You do not think I could protect her?'

'That's not what he's saying, Fenris,' she says grabbing his arm. 'Is it, Sebastian?'

The Prince crosses his own arms and raises a brow. 'No, that's exactly what I'm saying. I don't think he can protect you properly,' he states. Fucking hell, Sebastian! What happened to ''not wanting to make life hard'' for me? How is this in any way constructive? Makatza hissed in her mind as she tightens her grip on Fenris' arm. She heard Garrett swear behind her as he got up in case things got stupid. 'You are not the only person who loves her-'

Fenris growls and punches him in the face hard. 'Fenris!' Makatza said in shock and pulled him away from the Prince. 'That is enough!'

'You heard him!' Fenris retorts. 'He said that he loves you-'

'I know! I know! He's told me!' Makatza replies shaking her head. Garrett went over to Sebastian who was holding his nose. 'It doesn't matter-'

'Does not matter? How can you say that?'

'Because I love you! Idiot!' Makatza snaps as she pokes him in the chest.

'Not that he deserves it,' Sebastian mutters. Oh my god! What has gotten into you? Keep quiet! Makatza mentally screams. Fenris moves past Katza and Garrett and goes to grab the Prince and hit him again only to be struck back.

'Oh for fuck's sake!' Makatza growls as they begin to fight. 'Garrett!' She said motioning to the pair who weren't holding back from hurting each other, things got worse as the pups woke up and started to snarl and growl at Sebastian. 'Enough!' She commanded at the wolves who cower at her anger and slink behind Bubble who was staying firmly out of it. The apostate attempted to grab Fenris by the shoulders only to be thrown back and into the dogs who yelped as they got squished. 'Stop it! What are you being so stupid for?!' Makatza shouts at them. Sebastian kicks the elf into the table and then tackles him, splintering the wood. She rolls her eyes and clenches her fists, 'oh my fucking god!' She says to herself. Like two teenage boys fighting over some toy, she growled to herself. 'I said enough!' Makatza screams at them both summoning her mana and pushing them apart. They are thrown away from each other and then stand up panting and wiping the blood from their faces. 'You both claim to care about me yet neither of you will listen to me!' She growls as she looks at them. 'Sebastian, enough! I don't need you antagonising him! Fenris, leave him alone! You have no need to prove anything to anyone!' She brushes a tear from her cheek. 'I think you should leave... both of you,' she says simply as she turns and runs up the stairs her pups following her as she leaves the room.

She goes to her room and slams the door behind her a little childishly as she throws herself onto her bed grabbing her pillow as she hugs it tightly. She heard the front door open and close and she could hear Garrett talking to someone before the door goes again. She hears tentative steps across the landing before there was a soft knock on her door. 'Hey, sweetie,' Garrett says softly. Makatza strokes her pups and sighs.

'Come in,' she says simply.

'I made sure that Fenris went home after Sebastian,' he says quietly as he walks into her room and sits on the end of her bed. 'Are you okay?'

'Apart from my boyfriend being a bit of an asshole?'

'To be fair, Sebastian was being an asshole as well,' Garrett points out.

'Oh, I haven't even started on him yet,' she mutters viciously. 'He didn't need to say that stuff to Fenris, he already worries enough about that sort of thing.'

'Well, I understand why Fenris hit him. Sebastian is basically everything he isn't, he's royalty who would be able to keep you safe with a literal army and has nothing in his past chasing him down. He loves you too,' he sighs as he looks at her. 'To kinda taunt him with that was pretty cruel.'

'I know. I was hoping that Fenris wouldn't feel the need to prove himself though. I certainly don't need him to beat Seb up to show me that he can protect me. I'm so angry at him and myself. I should have just shut him up at the beginning. I told Seb that I wasn't interested, I tried to be kind but now I see that I should have been blunt about it,' Makatza sighs. 'Ugh!' She throws herself back onto her bed. 'Were they badly hurt?' She adds after a little while moving the pups that were trying to lick her face in comfort.

'Mmmm. I would say that they'll definitely both be sore in the morning but it's not like they don't both deserve it. Get some sleep, let them cool off on their own. Give it a night or a couple days. I'll check on them both tomorrow, you let me know when you want to see them,' he says softly as he leans over and gives her a kiss on the forehead. 'Love you,' he teases as he gets up.

Makatza throws a pillow at him and laughs, 'love you too, you asshole,' she smirks as she curls up with her pups as he leaves her bedroom. 'A couple of days huh? Maybe that would teach them both to pull their heads out their asses,' she says to Elgon as she strokes him.

It had been about three days since she had seen anyone, Garrett had even kept Isabela at bay to give her some mental space. She was lying in bed reading a different book than what Sebastian had suggested whilst also looking at some jewellery samples that Leandra had given her. She looked over at her dress, the ball was in a week and she was still having second thoughts. She would begrudgingly admit that the gown Ewan had made was gorgeous, made of silk it had a deep v-neck cut, slit sleeves to the shoulders, completely backless and the shoulders held together at the back by a chain with a pendant that dropped down to the base of her spine, just above the cut of the dress. It was floor length and thankfully flared out a little from her hips so she would be able to dance easily. The jewellery samples didn't really seem to fit it, they were all too bold and in your face. 'Ugh, no, no, no,' she said as she opened box, after box, after box.

There was a plink at her window and she felt her heart spike, she knew only one person who threw pebbles at her balcony doors. A thought went through her head, she could ignore him but she didn't really want to. She missed him. With a deep breathe she gets up and goes onto her balcony where she finds him in the garden. 'May I come up?' He asks softly.

She leans on the railing, still getting used to the height but definitely more confident around the aspect, 'do you really think that you deserve to?'

He pauses, 'no. I am still asking regardless,' he says quietly.

Makatza sighs softly as her chest tightens. 'Go to the back door, I'll meet you down there,' she says quietly as she return to her bedroom. She lets the pups know what she's doing before she walks down the stairs into the kitchen towards the back door. She opens it to see him standing there shyly, he was dressed casually in a tunic and leggings. Makatza looked him over, he had a bruised face, split lip and there was clear skin trauma on his knuckles. 'You haven't been healed,' she says.

'No, I did not wish to feel any other touch but yours,' he mumbles.

'Come in,' she says softly as she stands aside.
