Sam didn't blink as he stared at the ladybug that was slowly moving up on the flower. Dean pressed into his side, neither of them really breathing to make sure they didn't disrupt its movement.
Once it disappeared inside of the petals the both of them stood up, breathing out and slowly moving to a different part, holding hands.
It was a good morning. Pastor Jim had made them breakfast and they had helped! Dean had been in charge of the eggs and Sammy had made the toast, and then helped to clean up. After that Pastor Jim said that they were free to go into the forest so long as they took a walkie talkie so that they could still talk to him.
Dean was in charge of the walkie talkie because he was older and it was firmly set into his pocket. Pastor Jim had already checked on them once and then left them to explore more.
It was a lot different than the place next to Bobby's house. A lot more light, a lot less cars, and a lot more places for them to see.
They started to pick dandelions together as well, making small bundles. Dean slid some of them into Sammys hair and carefully twisted the stems so that they didn't fall out. Sammy giggled at them, but was careful to make sure that they stayed in place too.
They couldn't do the same to Deans shorter hair but Sammy did reach up to place them behind his ears instead.
When they reached a small place of grass they took their shoes off so that they could feel it better, toes wiggling into the blades. They sat down on the ground and carefully started to put the flowers together, tying them with the longer grass that they found.
"Do you know when mom and dad are gonna come back?" Dean asked him, looking up at his brother. Sammy wrinkled his nose, eyes withdrawing before he closed them, shaking his head carefully to make sure none of the dandelions fell out.
Dean let out a small sound at that but ultimately, he wasn't really worried. He knew that daddy was a good hunter and mom was going to make sure that nothing happened to him. A lot of times Sammy couldn't really see that much into the future, sometimes it came and went easily. Other times it was harder to see anything even if he tried his best.
It was like a wave, Sammy had told him. Well, not really told him, told him, but...let him know. It was easy for Dean to read Sammy and know what he was thinking about and what he wanted to say, that way Sammy didn't have to talk that much if he didn't want to. But him seeing things is kinda like a wave, sometimes bigger than others and easily seen, while others he couldn't really see a difference.
Sammy didn't know why he didn't talk either, sometimes it was just too hard to do it, like something had grabbed his throat and wasn't letting him talk except a few words at time.
Dean remembered when they first got Sammy, he remembered the bruises on Sammys throat.
It was alright, he'd speak for Sammy until he could. He didn't mind it.
They continued to make the flower bundles until the walkie talkie crackled and Pastor Jim's voice came out, "Boys, please come back."
Dean took it in hand and pressed the button just like he had been shown. "Okay." he answered, putting it into his pocket once more. He scooped up the flowers he had made and Sammy did the same, standing and taking his hand again.
They got back onto the small paved road and started back to the church, occasionally stopping to pick more flowers along the path.
They reached the church again and Dean knocked on the door twice like he had been instructed to do. A moment passed before Jim opened the door, smiling down at him.
"Lunch time boys." he told them, stepping to the side so they could come in. "Wash your hands first."
"We have flowers too." Dean told him, showing him their bundles which Sammy copied him. "Can we keep them?"
"Of course." Jim said with a nod as he took the flowers from them. "I'll put these in a small vial of water," he eyed the flowers in Sammys hair and Dean's head with amusement. "Those too?"
"Not yet." Dean said, tugging Sammy to the sink. Jim had put a chair there so that they could easily reach the sink. "They're just there to be pretty right now."
"Ah yes, they are very pretty." Jim told them. "Lunch is rather simple today, peanut butter and jelly, but there will be meatloaf for dinner."
"Thank you Pastor Jim." Dean said as he turned the water on for them. "Sammy says thank you too." That was important, to make sure that people knew what Sammy was thinking and saying even if he wasn't saying it aloud.
"You're welcome boys."
Once they were done and hands were dried they went to the table to eat, pulling the crusts off and eating those separately, already thinking about a different part of the forest to go to.
He hoped that mom and dad were having a good day just like they were.

I do take requests so if you have requests you can send them to me.
Also I know this chapter was just fluff and kid stuff, it was for fun just to give the boys a nice time.
