Disclaimer: I don't own Steven Universe
It was a new morning in Beach City. Pearl awoke, got ready and began to head off for school. She went down the stair and headed to her car. But, as she reached her car, Pearl froze feeling all all too familiar feeling.
"Hello?" asked Pearl.
Pearl looked around.
"Is someone out there?" asked Pearl.
Pearl got no answer.
"I can't go through this again." thought Pearl uneasy.
Pearl still saw nothing.
"Okay, I know you're out there." said Pearl.
Pearl again heard nothing.
"I know someone is out there." muttered Pearl.
Pearl gulped and began walking around.
"If you're not malicious, you can come out." said Pearl.
Pearl gazed around looking for signs of an intruder.
"If you are here to hurt me, I'm warning you know I have experience fighting." said Pearl.
"Yo!" called Amethyst.
Pearl jumped as Amethyst and Garnet walked down the stairs to their cars.
"What's going on?" asked Garnet.
"Someone's watching me." answered Pearl uneasy.
"You sure?" asked Amethyst surprised.
"I'm used to the feeling." answered Pearl.
The trio suddenly hear movement.
"Get ready." said Garnet.
Instead of a person, a one - eyed cat emerged.
"Isn't that the cat you've been taking care of?" asked Amethyst.
"Yes." answered Garnet.
Feeling silly, Pearl took off. She went to school, helped Anastasia with their next show and went to work. Finally, she headed home tired and ready to sleep. Once back home, Pearl again felt like she was being watched. She chalked it up to the cat once more, but soon heard footsteps. Pearl turned around to see two familiar faces looking back at her. Faces she would have been glad not to see.
"Hello there." said Aquamarine.
"It's been a while." added Eyeball.
"What are you doing here?" asked Pearl angrily.
"We just wanted to say hello." answered Aquamarine.
Pearl pointed at Aquamarine.
"You and Topaz knocked me out, tied me up, stuffed me into a trunk and delivered me to the Diamonds who wanted my head." noted Pearl harshly.
"How is old Topaz?" asked Aquamarine.
"Fine now that's she free from you." answered Pearl.
"After you squared things away with the Diamonds, they didn't threat to expel her so she left my side." explained Aquamarine.
Pearl turned to Eyeball.
"You and your goons attacked us." said Pearl.
"You did foil us every time." said Eyeball.
"The point is: I don't want you here." stated Pearl.
"That really hurts." replied Eyeball.
"Leave or I'm calling the police." said Pearl.
"Look, we know we messed up." began Aquamarine.
"That's where we're here." continued Eyeball.
"To make amends." said Aquamarine.
"What do you say?" asked Eyeball.
Pearl rolled her eyes.
"I'm not falling for it." answered Pearl bluntly.
"You've given others a second chance when they wronged you." noted Eyeball.
"Even the Diamonds and they had me abduct you." added Aquamarine.
Pearl had to admit they had a point.
"Okay." relented Pearl.
The three went inside and sat on the couch.
"Can I get you anything?" asked Pearl.
"Tea would be lovely." answered Aquamarine.
"I'd like a beer." answered Eyeball.
"The beer isn't mine so I can't give it away." said Pearl.
Pearl looked at the coffee pot.
"I can make a cup of coffee." said Pearl.
"That sounds good." said Eyeball.
"How do you like it?" asked Pearl.
"Black and hot." answered Eyeball proudly.
Pearl made the pot of tea then the cup of coffee. Once it was done, she brought the cups over.
"This is marvelous." said Aquamarine.
"Not a bad cup of coffee either." added Eyeball.
"So...what exactly made you change your mind about me?" asked Pearl skeptical.
"You still don't trust us and that hurts." said Aquamarine upset.
"Sorry, buy you need to rebuild trust." replied Pearl.
"Yeah...I guess that's only fair." shrugged Eyeball.
"Now...for my question." said Pearl.
"We decided, in the spirit for forgiving, to try and make amends for our past follies." explained Aquamarine.
"Good one." whispered Eyeball.
Aquamarine nudged Eyeball with her elbow.
"Where are your friends?" asked Aquamarine.
Eyeball tried to remember their names.
"I wanna say...Granite and Armrest." said Eyeball.
"Garnet and Amethyst will be home in moments." answered Pearl.
Aquamarine dropped her cup spilling tea on the floor.
"Oh silly me." said Aquamarine.
"I'll get it." replied Pearl.
Pearl stood up, but Aquamarine jumped onto her back.
"What the..." began Pearl.
"What a moron falling for our trick." said Aquamarine.
"Yeah! You're a moron!" declared Eyeball.
"Dammit. I knew this would happen." said Pearl annoyed.
"And you still fell for it!" laughed Eyeball.
"Get the knife." ordered Aquamarine.
Eyeball pulled a switchblade from her pocket.
"We've been wanting revenge ever since you screwed us over." said Aquamarine.
"It was a good thing we met in that bar or else this would have happened." added Eyeball.
"You got your money." noted Pearl.
"I was forced to pack the Diamonds back after they turned." said Aquamarine bitterly.
"And you tricked us time and time again." said Eyeball.
Aquamarine nodded in agreement.
"Now we're going to carve you up like a Christmas goose." said Aquamarine.
"You eat goose on Christmas?" asked Eyeball.
Aquamarine rolled her eyes.
"No you won't!" exclaimed Pearl.
Pearl kicked Eyeball in the chest then threw Aquamarine to the floor.
"I've had enough of this!" declared Pearl.
"There's still two of us and one of you." stated Aquamarine.
"Yeah!" cried Eyeball.
On cue, Garnet and Amethyst arrived.
"Oh hell no." said Amethyst.
Aquamarine and Eyeball charged Garnet and Amethyst. Rather than fight, Aquamarine and Eyeball fled.
"Pearl, are you okay?" asked Garnet.
Pearl took a deep breath.
"Yeah." answered Pearl flatly.
Weeks passed and things returned to normal. Despite initial fear, nothing from Aquamarine or Eyeball was heard. The three where slowly able to relax their guard. Pearl awoke this day ready for school, only to find Mother Nature had dumped nearly a foot of snow on Beach City. Everything was cancelled due to the weather. This mean Pearl, Garnet and Amethyst where home alone.
"I've made a pot of tea if anyone wants some." said Pearl.
"I could go for tea." said Garnet.
"Why not." shrugged Amethyst.
"Well, it will be ready in a little bit. I just put the kettle on." said Pearl.
Pearl sat on the couch with her friends.
"So..." began Pearl.
Nobody continued.
"This is so boring!" declared Amethyst.
"Nothing on TV and everyone is busy." said Garnet.
"Well...we can catch up." suggested Pearl.
"I'm game." said Amethyst.
"Then you can go first." offered Garnet.
"The people I've helped get jobs are loving it." said Amethyst.
"You so helpful." said Pearl, with mix of support and a bit down.
"Nephrite is loving her job as a skywriter." said Amethyst.
"How'd she get that job?" asked Pearl surprised.
"Andy, the guy who rents Lapis and Peridot their barn, trained her." answered Amethyst/
"I'm already being left out of the loop." thought Pearl worried.
"And Cherry is loving working at Funland." continued Amethyst.
"Wonderful." said Pearl.
Pearl wore a fake smile, but the worry was gnawing at at her.
"Hey Pearl, you okay?" asked Amethyst.
"Fine. Just a bit tired from work." answered Pearl.
The tea kettle whistled.
"The tea is ready!" declared Pearl.
Pearl raced to the counter and made three cups of tea.
"I've got to change the conversation." thought Pearl.
Pearl returned with the tea.
"So Garnet, how are things going for you?" asked Pearl.
"I've got the record label deal set up." answered Garnet.
Amethyst took a loud slurp of tea annoying Pearl.
"Which label did you sign with?" asked Amethyst.
"All of the ones I listed." answered Garnet.
"Damn G." replied Amethyst surprised.
"That's not uncommon." shrugged Garnet.
"Have you found a place in London yet?" asked Amethyst.
Pearl flinched hearing this.
"No, but I'm going to spend time with my moms in Empire City before I go." answered Garnet.
"Well...I'm sure you'll love it there." said Pearl.
"Not as much as Beach City." replied Garnet.
"But you can't start a music career from here." noted Amethyst.
Pearl was getting swamped by negative thoughts.
"What about you?" asked Amethyst.
Pearl shook her head.
"Huh?" asked Pearl.
"How things for you?" asked Amethyst.
"Same old. Same old." answered Pearl.
Pearl took a sip of tea.
"I'm sure thing will pick up once you get out in the world." said Amethyst.
Pearl could feel herself getting overwhelmed.
"If you'll excuse me." began Pearl.
"Where ya going?" asked Amethyst.
"Just outside for a smoke." answered Pearl.
Pearl threw out on jacket, headed outside and had a cigarette.
"They're already moving on." mused Pearl.
Pearl took a drag of her cigarette.
"And leaving me behind." said Pearl sadly.
Pearl took a long drag from her cigarette.
"No much they tell me I won't be forgotten, they're doing it." said Pearl.
Pearl took another long drag of her cigarette.
"If I get lung cancer, at least that'll end my misery." said Pearl sadly.
Pearl look mournfully out to the ocean.
"No!" declared Pearl.
Pearl clenched her fist.
"I won't let myself be pushed aside and forgotten." vowed Pearl.
Pearl took one last drag finishing off her cigarette.
"One way or another." said Pearl.
A/N: That's where we'll end this chapter. So, Pearl is again feeling left behind plus Aquamarine and Eyeball returned. The end is here as we only have four to six chapters left before this story finishes. Next time, Pearl and Lapis meet two new faces plus graduation. Please review.
