Description:
They're the most iconic cartoon characters of all time, but who truly has the right to the crown?
Preferred Character:
Definitely Bugs, he's got a much more interesting personality and I personally enjoy his cartoons much more. Mickey is more of a symbol anyways, as Disney doesn't really do much with him anymore while Bugs has remained active for quite some time. Though Mickey has definitely helped the animation industry a lot, being sort of the Mario of cartoons.
Possible Song Name(s):
Looney Melodies
Yep...we're back with the toon-force shenanigans as we now look into the most iconic cartoon characters of all time. They need no introduction, Mickey Mouse and Bugs Bunny. And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor, and skills to see who would win a death battle. And for this match-up, we're including EVERYTHING so long as the one performing the feat or using the weapon is specifically referred to as Mickey or Bugs.
Mickey Mouse
Background:
First appearing in Disney's Steamboat Willie in 1928, Mickey Mouse has stood the test of time as one of the most iconic and important animated characters of all time. It is thanks to him that animation started to become a mainstream thing in media and allow for others to make a name for themselves. Being as old as he is, Mickey has appeared in hundreds of cartoons with varying plots and situations. And with how many different properties Disney has owned and worked with, he's got quite an interesting assortment of abilities.

Sketches
Naturally being a cartoon character, Mickey is capable of breaking the laws of physics and all forms of logic. He can survive all kinds of injuries, whether he be flattened, cut the pieces, or even turned to dust, he will come back so long as he can survive the total damage done. It also gives him access to hammer space, a fictional storage area that lets toon characters pull out whatever tool they may need. So Mickey can store every type of weapon you can imagine, but he does have a few interesting and unique tools to utilize. He's got a lightsaber and the force, swords, axes, and tons of magic. He can create powerful winds with the magic sheet, shoot condensed balls of magic with the magic gun, and multiple tools for casting spells. Whether they be a staff, rapier, or his powerful keyblade. The Kingdom Key, as it is referred to, is a very sharp object that is an effective sword, that can also open holes in between dimensions and shoot laser beams. From it, Mickey can hover, teleport, cast spells of fire, ice, and lightning, heal himself, create various floating explosives, and even stop time temporarily. The magic paintbrush can create any physical object you can think of, or erase objects entirely from their canvas with Paint Thinner. His most iconic and most capable magic object, however, is most definitely his magic hat from the Sorcerer's Apprentice short. With this pointed hat on, Mickey can control the weather, harness balls of pure energy, deflect energy based attacks, alter his or other objects own size, summon comets from nowhere, and give life to non living objects. Like when he made an army of living broomsticks to do his chores for him. Although this power can be hard to control if he decides to get a little crazy with it. Lastly is his strange awareness of the fourth wall. A more recent addition to his abilities, Mickey at times can be aware of what media he is in and interact with the audience. This even extends to his ability to straight up leave the screen entirely and mess with the cartoon itself through its framing.
Feats:
Survived/outran a tornado
Survived point blank explosions
Survived a bolt of lightning
Dodged laser beams fired at him
Piloted a comet entering Earth's atmosphere
Ignited a soccer ball
Leapt out of his cartoon
Consistently breaks physics and defies logic
This mighty mouse has proven himself to be way tougher than he looks. He's got enough strength to knock over giants, take out Pete whose skin can bounce bullets off of him, and bend a piece of metal like it's made of rubber. He's even held back an enraged Donald, who has the strength necessary to bring down entire skyscrapers with minimal effort. And even that is barely scratching the surface of his power. One time he kicked a soccer ball so hard that it caught fire, which would mean that Mickey kicked this ball at a speed exceeding 3,825 MPH (Mach 5), and could resist the pull of a tornado. The highest ever recorded wind speed of a tornado was clocked in at 379 MPH, so Mickey would likely have to exceed this. And when in outer space, he rode a comet and drove it into Earth and could accurately maneuver it. Pretty impressive, considering the minimum speed of a comet entering Earth's atmosphere is over mach 58. He's dodged lightning, and even survived a direct bolt of it to the head, dodged laser beams aimed towards him, and had enough strength to topple robots the size of castles. One could even compare him to Sora, who can slice through 7 buildings at once and survive a hit from Disney's Hercules. Using his in game feat for consistency's sake, Hercules could output over 24 megatons of force. Mickey's greatest and most impressive feat, however, is the time he survived an explosion so massive that it could cover all of California at once. California has a total area of over 163,000 square miles, and to cover this whole area makes this explosion equivalent to 359 gigatons of TNT. With all of this power and durability, it's no wonder how he was able to succeed in interdimensional adventures, resist the powers of mental attacks, fight through armies of darkness without any trouble, and take down towering foes. And with his ability to break logic, he's an even more dangerous opponent. Like when he pulled the sun down from the sky and hold it as the size of a beach ball. Even a star that small is several times heavier than a planet.
Extras:
Toon Force is a very difficult to grasp concept in the case of VS Battles. In a way, it is sort of reality warping, but for comedic effect. To be clear, like with magic and other forms of reality warping, not all Toon Force users are created equal. In the same way Ganondorf's magic is weaker than Dr. Strange's, someone like the Mask has a weaker Toon Force use than the likes of Popeye. And in a previous battle I did on my own, Daffy VS Donald, I determined that even if it is difficult, killing a toon is not impossible, despite what Roger Rabbit says. Though it usually would take another Toon Force or reality warping user to do it.
Weaknesses:
None
But even with all of this power, the mouse's best and most potent ability is his ability to sue anything and anyone for any dumb reason…
*THIS BATTLE HAS BEEN TAKEN DOWN FOR MENTIONING MICKEY :/*
OH GOD DAMNIT
Bugs Bunny
Background:
In 1937, Porky's Hare Hunt was released and introduced to the world what would become one of the most influential and popular cartoon characters around. That being an energetic little rabbit named Bugs Bunny. And since then, he and his group of Looney characters have continued to entertain the world in many experimental, and sometimes straight up dumb, ways.
Abilities:
Toon Force
4th Wall Awareness
High Intelligence
Master of Disguise
Burrowing
Flight
Equipment:
Hammer Space
Super Carrots
Carrot Lightsaber
Carrot Gun
Super Speed Vitamins
Magnet
Hyde Formula
Lola
Time Machine
Art Supplies
Like already described with Mickey, Bugs also has Toon Force. He can use hammer space, alter the world around him, manipulate his own size and shape, and break the laws of physics entirely. Even without it, he's one tough Hare. He can fly by spinning his ears like a helicopter blade, burrow through the ground at hypersonic speeds, change into perfect disguises within a second's notice, and break the 4th wall repeatedly. Even to the extent of leaving the cartoon and using artist supplies to directly control his own reality. He's got plenty of special carrots that can provide buffs and be handy weapons in tough situations. By eating the super carrot, he becomes Superman for a day, can wield a lightsaber that also deflect laser beams, fly through space with a jetpack, become totally invisible with the accidentally made perfume Lola, pull metal objects out of the opponent's hands with a magnet, become the monstrous Mr. Hyde, and travel through time with his handy time machine. All of this comes together real nicely thanks to his best trait of all, his high intelligence. Bugs is well known for his ability to manipulate others to his own benefit, pushing them into unwinnable situations and finding ways to beat their raw power. Even so, he does have a pretty impressive physique all things considered, and has managed to work his way around all forms of danger that comes his way.
Feats:
Survived an explosion that blasted apart the moon
Leapt out of the cartoon he was in
Sawed off Florida
Withstood the heat of the sun
Built an entire city in a day
Can become Superman for a day (?)
Went 110 rounds in boxing
Outran a laser beam
Also constantly defies the laws of physics
He's made shotguns explode simply by plugging the hole with his finger, built an entire city in a matter of seconds, could survive the intense heat of the sun, and keep fighting in a boxing for 110 individual rounds straight. As the average round of Boxing goes for about 3 minutes a piece, this means that Bugs fought for 330 minutes straight, or a total of 5 and a half hours without showing any sign of exhaustion. He's even become Superman for a day...which is definitely something. Bugs can burrow through the ground with enough speed to cross entire states and countries in a matter of seconds, can avoid lightning bolts, and survive in the harshness of space. His best speed feat, however, definitely comes from the time he managed to outrun a laser beam. While the shot in question did definitely hit the ground first, allowing Bugs to recognize the attack and start running the other way, the next shot makes it apparent that he is running faster than the beam of light can travel as it moves directly behind him. And yes, it is a laser beam. It travels in a linear line, burns anything it touches, and can be reflected off of surfaces. He's tough enough to survive having weights falling on top of him, have dynamite blow up in his mouth, and get back up after being run over by a train. And yet, even if you have enough power to blow up the moon you can't kill him so easily. Oh yeah, once he was directly on the moon, had it blow up while sending massive chunks into space, leaving behind only enough to appear as a crescent moon. And yet, Bugs can potentially hit with this amount of force as he was able to damage Yosemite Sam. And Sam is able to not only pull out a cannon powerful enough to blow up Mars, but also clashed with Marvan the Martian and destroyed a planet around them without even realizing it. He even played Basketball with Michael Jordan to defeat a bunch of aliens. He's defeated ninjas, Nazis, gangsters, death itself, and Daffy Duck after he took control over the cartoon.
Extras:
None
Weaknesses:
Can be a bit prideful
With great intelligence and a wide variety of dangerous abilities, it is very rare to see this hare get outwitted.
Bugs: Ain't I a stinker?
The Battle:
Alright the combatants are set and all possibilities have been taken into account, it's time for a death battle!
It's a beautiful sunny day in suburbia, as the door to a little shack opens wide for Mickey to walk out and check on his garden. He walks down the steps and begins picking the carrots he's been growing, but notices some missing. He screams in shock as he sees piles of carrots already eaten. A singular stump bounces off his head, cuing him to turn around. There's just a little hole with a mailbox next to it that says "Bugs". He walks over and bangs his shovel on the metal mailbox to get his neighbor's attention. Bugs pokes his head out and looks around, turning to face Mickey as the mouse clears his throat.
Bugs: Eh, what's up doc?
Mickey: What's up is this is my garden. And I'm trying to collect the carrots that I spent months planting and taking care of.
The bunny looks around the garden and notices the mess he made.
Bugs: Ooooooh...here, let me help you with that. :D
He begins burrowing beneath the earth as he starts to rapidly eat through Mickey's entire supply. It only serves to anger Mickey further, prompting him to pull out a musket and plugging it into the hole. He pulls the trigger and lets the gun loose, with Bugs exploding out of the hole and falling flat on his face. He turns around to see Mickey summon his keyblade and leap into the air. Bugs grabs a carrot and ignites a plasma beam from it. The two clash for a bit, as Bugs pushes Mickey off of him and dashes forward with sword in hand. Their blades strike with explosive energy multiple times as Mickey leaps back to then create a fireball. It launches with great speed and impacts Bugs in a mighty explosion. Bugs is merely covered in black soot, which a quick shake removes. Mickey throws his keyblade, and as it spins towards Bugs the bunny ducks under it to avoid damage outright. As it comes back around like a boomerang Bugs manages to strike it out of the air and force it into the ground. With the tables having been turned, Bugs strikes Mickey repeatedly, cutting him to ribbons. Of course, being a toon character, this is nothing for Mickey and recovers mere seconds later. Bugs pulls out a massive baseball bat and strikes Mickey with enough force to crash into his house and break it down in its entirety. Bugs dusts himself off and straightens his ear as he begins to walk away. But it is far from over, as a giant tornado forms behind him. The debris is picked up by the strong winds, with Mickey hovering in mid-air with a sorcerer's hat on his head. He lifts his hands and begins altering the environment with his magic. Bugs has trouble keeping his balance as the ground beneath him is lifted up and forced to crash into another rock. Mickey summons lightning to scorch Bugs, and then sends the rock flying into outer space. Bugs crashes into the moon with enough force to crack it. Mickey suddenly teleports behind Bugs and starts creating magic energy balls to throw at the rabbit. Bugs dodges each and every single one of his explosive attacks, pulling out a curved pipe to redirect it back at Mickey. The attack itself is nothing to the mouse given his amount of control on the attack. With a magnet, Bugs drags hundreds of asteroids to the battle ground and throws it all towards Mickey. Mickey stops their momentum entirely with his magic and snaps his fingers to make the asteroids alive. They are then directed towards Bugs and bombard him. While painful, the attack does not kill Bugs so he remains fine enough. Although, he is a bit tired and slowly gets back up. Mickey pulls the sun down and holds it in his hands, and with a wind up and a pitch, it's off. Bugs is hit square on, but since this isn't the first time he's withstood the heat of the sun, he's fine enough even as it burns his hands. Bugs is able to stop once he crashes on Mars, smashing Marvan's planet destroying laser in the process. Now with the sun, Bugs pulls out a cannon, loads it with the star, and aims at the mouse on the moon. All set, he lets it fire at full speed. Mickey notices the incoming star, and stretches out before preparing to stop the sun. But while he's busy doing that, a hole opens up behind him with Bug's hand coming out to flick the hat off of Mickey. By the time Mickey notices the hat is gone, the sun collides with him and crashes into the moon, triggering an explosion powerful enough to completely detonate the moon in its entirety. Back on Earth, Bugs hops out of a hole with only his eyes visible, as the planet is completely dark. He looks down, reaches for a light bulb, and puts it in place to then take the place of the sun. Now that the bright star is replaced, he then sits down in his chair with a basket of carrots next to him. He takes a bite out of one, before looking to the audience.
Bugs: Ain't I a stinker? *laughs*
A circle then turns the screen black to conclude this cartoon.
K.O.
Reasoning:
Mickey and Bugs were actually pretty well matched in many ways. Mickey's large assortment of magic gave him a little extra versatility and readily available attacks, they could both leave their cartoon, and as both had toon force they could survive just about any injury that didn't immediately kill them or break the laws of physics on a consistent basis. However, Bugs' advantages were just too great and plentiful. Mickey's larger arsenal of abilities didn't mean much when Bugs could do most of the same stuff with his own abilities and weapons. For example, Mickey's magic paintbrush and Bugs' art supplies pretty much fulfilled the same purpose. And with his massive advantage in physical might, Mickey wasn't gonna have an easy time even pulling off his tricks. Mickey was fast enough to dodge a laser beam, but he's never had to actively outrun one. Mickey may have survived an explosion the size of California, but Bugs survived one that blew apart the moon. While California has a total of 163,000 square miles, the moon accounts for over 14,000,000. Even if the detonation didn't destroy the moon in its entirety, the majority of it was gone which means the blast was easily more powerful. And since Mickey didn't have any great offensive feats, he could barely even scratch Bugs on the offensive. Meanwhile, Bugs could harm other toon characters capable of surviving the destruction of entire planets around them without even noticing. Definitely getting the one up over Mickey and his durability. And lastly, thanks to his great intelligence and ingenuity, Bugs could easily outwit Mickey on a consistent basis while also using his Toon Force to more destructive means. Look all you want, there isn't a Disney cartoon or comic where someone pulls out a cannon that blows up a planet. Nothing else to say but...that's all folks!
The winner is Bugs Bunny.
*IMPORTANT NOTES
In the Sorcerer's Apprentice animation, Mickey is shown controlling the cosmos. However, this is just a dream and thusly doesn't have any real information to back it up. And even then, he doesn't seem to have the ability to use it to its full potential.
Even though both could leap out of the cartoon and affect it, Bugs had a much better control over it. His art supplies provided greater freedom when manipulating it, while Mickey could only mess with the screen. And while time could stop on a single frame when doing this, Bugs was also capable of leaping out of the screen as well and it didn't stop him from thinking of a plan. And even then, he beat Daffy when he too controlled the cartoon.
Bugs is far better when it comes to strategy, as he's easily manipulated just about anyone that comes his way while Mickey has shown much more difficulty when trying to do the same for whatever reason.
Bugs' Toon Force was generally more potent, as it's shown more destructive feats in the past.
The fact that Bugs can become Superman for a day pretty much solidifies his better physical traits if he ever does this.
Most of Mickey's magic weapons could be removed from him and stopped entirely. So Bugs did have a way of disabling them in case they ever come out.
Even with his time stopping powers, Mickey couldn't really win as he still didn't have enough power or strength to really kill Bugs in an instant.*
