"So... where do you wanna go?" Danny Reagan asked his potential girlfriend.
"Uh..." Linda O'Shea sipped her hot chocolate. "I like skating."
"Ice or floor?"
"Both. But, since it's winter and all, we gotta go ice skating."
Danny nodded, "that's a valid point. So I'll pick you up around 5:30?"
"Yeah. Yeah, that works. See ya then."
"Bye."
Linda waved as she crossed the street. Danny sighed and shook his head, "I am an idiot."
"Can you even skate, man?" Joe wondered aloud as his older brother pulled a sweater over his head.
"Not really."
"As in not at all?"
"Yeah..." Danny sighed and pulled on his socks.
"Why would you go skating when you can't skate?"
"Because I wanna impress this girl, okay? So I'm crazy, head-over-heels in love with her! So what?" He grabbed his belt from the closet hook, "now get outta my room."
"Picky picky."
"How long has it been since you've been skating?" Linda wondered as she expertly tied the laces of the skate.
"Uh... not that long ago." Danny lied, fumbling with the laces.
She smirked, "I go every year."
"Oh yeah?"
"Yup!" She quickly stood up and put her hands on her hips.
"So you're an expert?"
"I wouldn't go right to expert, but I'm okay."
"I'm sure you're better than just okay." He stood up a little shakily.
Linda blushed, "maybe... come on."
He followed her onto the ice, cursing himself for being an idiotic love-struck teenager.
Linda tried to help her laughter while she watched her date try to impress her. She shook her head and skated in front of him, going backwards. "You doing okay?"
"Oh yeah." Danny's eyes hadn't left the ice. "I'm doing great."
"Okay..." liar. But she couldn't help the smile that spread across her face. She knew all the boys wanted to date her, but this one was different. He was kinder, somehow more polite. He had good morals and grew up in a respected family.
Plus, she thought, he's really cute.
Danny finally looked up, "What're you smiling at?"
"Nothing."
Danny slipped a little, automatically grabbing Linda's hand.
She smiled wider, "ya look a little rusty. That's okay, I am, too!"
"Yeah, obviously." He said sarcastically.
"I am!"
Danny smiled at her, her cheeks rosy from the cold. "Maybe we can help each other, then?"
"Yeah! That'll work!"
"Where do you wanna go? We've still got a few hours." Danny asked Linda as the drive through the city.
"Storks Orange Creams!"
"Stork who?"
Linda giggled, "Storks Orange Creams! There're these amazing chocolates!"
"Okay, where the hell is this stork?"
"Three lefts then a right."
"I'm guessing you're his best costumer."
Linda shrugged, "I dunno."
"One back of Storks Orange Creams, please." Linda told the cashier.
"Small or large?"
"Large. Definitely."
Danny looked at the abundance of chocolate in the shelves. "This place is a diabetic nightmare." He mumbled to himself.
"Okay!" Linda appeared next to him. "I'm ready!"
"You got the chocolates?"
"Yup." She held up the bag and jiggled it.
Danny laughed and the walked out of the store. Leaning on the car, Linda opened the bag.
"You're eating them all already?" Danny smiled.
"Not all of them. Just a few." She popped one in her mouth and smiled. "Best chocolate in the world... want one?" She held one up.
"Sure. I like chocolate as much as the next guy."
Linda smiled and popped the chocolate in Danny's mouth. She blushed a little bit, but covered it up with another chocolate.
He nodded, swallowing, "that's pretty good."
"Pretty good?" She stepped in front of him. "They're the best!"
Neither of them were sure how it happened, but, suddenly, they found beach other's lips.
"We should, uh, be heading back." Danny said quietly and reluctantly.
"I guess we have to, Huh?"
He nodded and opened the door for her. She smiled and got in the car.
"See you at school Monday?" Danny wondered, stopped outside Linda's house.
"Or before. We do go to the same church, you know."
"We do?"
"Yeah. But your family's always socializing and mine just goes straight home."
"Huh. I'm gonna have to look for you."
"Yeah..." Linda looked down at her hands, "I, uh, I had a lotta fun. Thanks, Danny."
"You're welcome. I had fun, too."
She smiled and kissed his cheek, "Bye." She quickly got out of the car.
"Bye." He waved to her as she waved on the front stoop. He smiled, "best idiotic move of my life."
