The Block Estate

7:00am

The loud sound of her phone alarm woke Massie up, but getting up was the last thing she wanted to do. Like clockwork, as soon as her alarm went off, Zander started crying, and she wanted to cry too. It was her first day back to school since he had been born and she was not prepared at all. He was almost two months old, so he didn't fully sleep through the night yet, which meant she wasn't getting the best quality sleep. Usually he would only wake up once at midnight to be fed or changed and then go back to sleep, and that wasn't too bad because it was the summer and she could be on his sleep schedule. It also helped that Landon was there with them as much as he could be, so she didn't have to do literally everything by herself, and it was nice to spend time together as a family. But now everything would be changing because they both had to go to school, so he wouldn't be able to spend as much time at her house as he usually does, and they would have to figure out how plan to balance school, homework, and taking care of their son. Luckily, her parents hired a nanny to watch Zander while Massie was in school, so that was one thing she didn't have to worry about.

"It's okay, don't cry," Massie said to him as she picked him up from the bassinet that was beside her bed.

Usually at this time in the morning she would be taking her sweet time getting ready, but now she didn't have that luxury. School mornings would now have to work around Zander's needs. She took him into his nursery and changed his diaper first, which she had gotten so used to that it didn't even bother her anymore, and then she fed him before putting him back into his bassinet. She knew he'd probably fall back asleep soon, so she got in the shower, but left the bathroom door open so she could see or hear if anything was wrong. As she was showering she thought about how leaving Zander at home with someone else would be harder than she thought it would be. She felt so conflicted because she loved him more than she thought was possible, and she was very attached to him, but a big part of her felt so tied down by motherhood. He needed her for literally everything, and she couldn't do anything without thinking about how it would affect him. She couldn't just randomly go out and do things without worrying about who's going to watch him while she's away, or sleep in on days that she had nothing to do. There was no such thing as having a lazy day and doing nothing, because being a mom was a 24/7 job. She had no idea how poor people handle being parents, because if she had to work and go to school and take care of a baby, she'd go insane. She never appreciated coming from a rich family more than she did now.

Once she was done showering, getting dressed, and doing her makeup, she looked at Zander sleeping peacefully before walking out. His nanny was already downstairs, so Massie knew that he would be taken care of while she was gone, and she knew that she should enjoy getting a break. She could've drove her silver BMW to school, but she was always so tired that she didn't even feel like driving, so she rode in the range rover with Issac like usual. She had not been to school since before she had Zander, so she was nervous about facing people. She knew she probably shouldn't be psyching herself out so much because it's just school, but school was the only part of her old life that was left.

Starbucks

7:30am

Kristen had went to bed earlier than usual the night before, so she woke up even earlier, which meant she had time to kill before going to school, and what better way to kill time than going to Starbucks? She tells the barista to make her a hazel nut frappe and then she sits at a table by herself and pulls out her phone to check social media and text her friends. She especially wanted to be there for Massie right now; she hadn't been to school since the spring while she was still pregnant, and Kristen knew that she was really nervous about being around people at school. Everything had changed for the PC when Massie became a mom, and the whole dynamic was different than it was before. There hadn't been any Friday night sleepovers since she had the baby, and even when they did all get together at her house, unless Zander was with Landon, they couldn't just have uninterrupted girl time because Massie's man focus was her son. If he started crying then she had to put all her energy into making sure he's okay instead of focusing on the PC. Kristen didn't hold that against Massie because she recognized that her main priority was being a mother, but it definitely did put a damper on things. She decided to send her a message to hopefully put her in a good mood this morning.

Kristen: You're a milf now ;) no one will think you're an LBR.

Massie: Thanks lol you're the best :)

After sending her text, she turned to see a guy sit down at the table right beside her and pulls out a laptop. She immediately noticed how cute he was, so she decided to reapply her lip gloss to make sure she looked cute too. She had been single forever, and it was so hard to see all of her friends have boyfriends to spend time with while she was forever alone. She tried to keep herself busy with soccer, but there was still a gaping hole in her heart that longed for love. Now, every time she would see a cute guy, she would get excited on the inside, even when she knew nothing would probably come of it. It didn't help that every single guy she was attracted to always seemed to be in a relationship. There was something about this guy that seemed particularly attractive to her, but she couldn't put her finger on it. He looked like a lot like Liam Payne with glasses, so he was definitely her type looks wise, and she wondered how old he really was. She had just turned seventeen recently, so she hoped that he wasn't too old for her. Creep much? you don't even know this guy, she thought.

"Kristen! Darren!"

As soon as she heard her name called out, she went to the counter to go get her frappe. Then as she turned around to go back to her table, but because she was looking down at her phone, she didn't see the person that came up behind her, so she bumped into him and her frappe spilled all over her white shirt.

"Oh my God!" They both shout at the same time.

She was mad that her shirt had gotten soaked until she saw that the guy she bumped into was the Liam Payne look alike guy.

"I'm so sorry!" he says, "I wasn't paying attention."

"No, it's fine," she tells him, "it's my fault, I shouldn't have been looking at my phone."

"I feel bad now," he says to her, "I can buy you another one."

She blushed and tells him he doesn't have to, but then he says, "no, I insist," and he smiles at her.

"Thank you," she said to him, "I had a hazel nut frappe."

Then he turns to the barista and says, "the cute girl will have another hazel nut frappe."

Ehmagawd! He thinks I'm cute!

"stop, you're making me blush," She says while trying and failing not to blush.

"It's no problem," he says as he grabs his coffee and they walk back to where they were sitting.

"Do you need to be anywhere soon?" he asks her, "I'm sorry about messing up your shirt."

"Oh no, don't worry about it. But I do have to be at school soon," she says.

"Are you in college?"

"Yeah," she says, "I just started going to the University here in the spring."

She technically wasn't lying about being in college because she did go to college. She was enrolled there to take college classes alongside her high school classes so that when she did graduate high school, she would already be a sophomore in college. She left out the high school part because he was probably in college, and she didn't want him to think she was a lame. She knew she was probably putting too much thought into it, so she tried to relax and be cool.

"I actually just graduated this spring," he tells her, "what are you majoring in?"

"I'm not sure yet," Kristen said, "my mom wants me to major in nursing like her, but I'm keeping my options open."

Then she gets up and excuses herself to go to the bathroom to attempt to clean up her shirt. It was worse than she thought; because she was wearing a white shirt it was easy to see the outline of her bra. Now she was really embarrassed that he'd seen that, and she wanted to get out as fast as possible. Luckily she had a jacket in her bag that she could put on for now until she got home to change, because there was no way she was going to school with a huge coffee stain on her shirt, even if it meant she would have to miss her first period class.

When she got out of the bathroom, she went to go grab her frappe and then to say bye to her new crush.

"Well, it was nice talking to you, Darren?" She said, only just now realizing he hadn't told her his name.

"Yes," he says, "and nice talking to you too, Kristen."

Then puts a paper towel with her number written on it on the table and says bye to him.

OCD

8:10am

"Where's Kristen?" Claire asked once the PC, minus Kristen, all gathered in the bathroom

"She hasn't answered any texts," Massie said, "but I forgive her because she called me a milf."

They all laughed and then Alicia said, "It's true. Your boobs are as big as mine now."

Alicia was right, Massie's boobs had definitely grown while she was pregnant, and now they were very prominent because they were a whole cup size bigger. She'd tried out breastfeeding when Zander was born, but he bit her, so she was over it already. He didn't even have teeth yet, she didn't want to think about how it would be when he did get them, so he was definitely getting the bottle from now on. The only problem with not breastfeeding was the fact that her boobs were so full that they would leak sometimes. That was one of those things that no one told her about when she got pregnant, and she was not happy about it. Luckily she didn't gain much weight during the pregnancy, but her belly was still not totally flat yet, so she wasn't wearing any skin tight clothes. Today she wore a short sleeved, purple, mid-thigh length dress and brown wedges, so she looked nice, but not trying too hard. She hadn't cut her hair in a while, so it was mid-back length now, and she got a lot of compliments on it, so she decided to keep it long.

"I can't believe we're juniors," Dylan says, "after this we only have one more year!"

"I can't wait," Alicia said, "to be honest, I'm kind of over high school already. I'm ready to go to college."

Massie had mixed feelings about school at this point. On one hand, she was kind of over it to, because her priorities had completely changed and she wasn't looking forward to balancing motherhood and school, but on the other hand, she wanted to enjoy her junior and senior year of school while it lasts. She missed half of her sophomore year, so she felt like she'd missed out on so much.

Then as they were talking to each other about what's going on in their lives and what they're looking forward to, the bathroom door opens and they hear a loud, "Hola bitches!"

"I'm so happy to see you," Massie says to Nina in a monotone, sarcastic voice.

Then Nina smiles at her and says, "of course you are, I know you love me."

Since Nina was here to stay, and it was no secret that they didn't like each other, instead of fighting, they resorted sarcasm and low key insults. That was their thing now, and it worked for them, so Alicia had given up on trying to get them to like each other.

"It is too early in the morning to be this cheerful," Alicia said to her cousin.

"Well I'm a senior," she says, "this is my last year here, and I'm just excited to be around guys again. No offense, but you all are kind of boring."

"Gee thanks," Dylan said

"The feeling is mutual," Massie responds to Nina.

Nina's eyebrows raised and she said, "oh wow, your calling someone boring?"

"Nina, stop it!" Alicia warned her.

"Oh no, it's fine," Massie says defensively, "just say it! I'm no fun because I have a baby now."

Nina shrugs and says, "well yeah, it's true."

"That's not true," Dylan chimes in really fast, even though she knew she was lying, "Massie is just as fun as she's always been."

Massie rolled her eyes because she knew Dylan was full of shit, but she wasn't offended because she knew that her friend was just trying to help the situation. She knew that she was wasn't as fun as she used to be, but for now she was okay with that. Things would go back to how they were before eventually. Hopefully.

"I'm too tired to entertain this conversation," Massie tells them, "Let's just go to class."

When they leave the bathroom, they separate, except for Massie and Claire who both have first period chemistry together. When they walk in they see the teacher with his back turned to the class, writing his name on the board. Massie saw a girl look at her really fast and then whisper to her friend, "oh my God, I didn't think she'd actually have the nerve to show herself at school again." Then when the girl looks at her again, Massie makes sure to let her know that she heard her talking about her by saying, "hey whatever your name is, you suck at whispering."

"Just ignore her," Claire says quietly to Massie as they go sit at desks in the back of the classroom.

"She's irrelevant anyway," Massie says nonchalantly.

Then the teacher, who looks kind of young to be a high school teacher, turns around and says to the class, "Hey everyone, I'm mister McAllister."

After he says that, a girl who was seated in front Massie and Claire, whispers to her friend, "he's really cute. Is it just me or does he look a lot like Liam Payne from One Direction?"

AN: So, it's been like six years since I've updated this story, and if anyone is actually still reading this, I'm sorry for basically abandoning this. I'm going to try to actually update this consistently, like once a week or more. I was in high school when I started writing this story, and now I'm in my twenties, so a lot has changed, and I'm not exactly sure what direction I want to take this story into yet, so I'm just kinda going with it. I'm leaning towards making it not just revolve around Massie anymore, and I want to focus on the other girls too because that'll give me more ideas and inspiration to keep going. Anyway, leave a review and tell me what you think.
