Elsie was Ben and Emma's first baby not to have red hair. Her hair was lighter, almost a light brown but still on the verge of ginger.
Ginny missed John Curtis terribly, and even though he would deny it, he missed her even more. They were as close as could be, and since he had moved away they didn't get to see each other half as much. Olivia had planned a celebration party at the house, so Ginny was eagerly counting down the days until then.
Emma has just lifted the apple pie out of the oven when Ginny and Charlie ran into the kitchen. By the looks on their faces, someone had arrived. "Paul and Erin are here!" Ginny squeaked before running up the stairs to tell Serena and Jeffrey. Charlie uttered the same words before running after his big sister.
"It's so nice to have you still around, Em. Especially with nearly everyone moving out." Olivia sent her daughter a warm smile while setting the table.
"I don't think I could settle in anywhere else." Emma said honestly, glancing at the stairs when Serena came down holding Elsie.
"She was sleeping." The fifteen year old said, rocking the little girl.
"Why do you have only one bed?"
Emma stared at her oldest daughter, not knowing how to reply. "Married couples share the same bed." She said at last.
"Why?" Ginny folded her arms and stared her mother down, her expression softening as her baby sister cooed. "If I was married I would want a big bed all to myself."
"You ask many questions, hon." Emma laughed as she walked over to the bed and pulled down the covers. "How about you sleep with me tonight? I would ask Charlie, but he fell asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow."
"Does daddy look funny when he sleeps?" the little girl chirped as she snuggled up with her mama.
Emma snorted with laughter at the second random question of the day. "Not usually. I find him very handsome. But sometimes when he is very tired he sleeps with his mouth open, and he resembles a fish." She hardly felt twenty seven as she giggled like a school girl.
Ginny giggled as well. "Oh that's funny. I am going to start calling him my 'fish'!" After mother and daughter dozed for a while, Emma opened her eyes to see Ben making his way over to the bed.
"Gin?" He questioned in surprise. "What are you doing here?"
Ginny erupted into giggles, signaling that she must have been awake for quite some time. "Hello, cute little fish!" Emma howled with laughter at the outburst.
"Emma." Ben groaned, amusement swimming in his voice as he slipped into bed.
"Ginny had many questions about our bed, Ben," Emma started, fully prepared to watch him squirm. "She asked why we only have one."
"Technically-" Ben said mischievously. "Your mama moved in after the wedding. But hmm, how could I ever refuse?" His eyes staring into hers sent Emma's cheeks burning.
"Goodnight," Ginny said softly, hugging both her parents as she fell asleep.
