"Ma," Danny slid into the kitchen in socks, stopping at the island. "Can I have twenty bucks?"

"Twenty bucks? What happened to I'm saving my allowance for'... whatever you wanted?"

"I, uh, I spent. On someone, not me. But now I need money for myself."

"Who exactly did you spend your money on?"

"Linda! I brought her, oh... a pound or so of Stork's Orange Creams."

Mary smiled, happy that her son had found someone he really cared about. "So now you need cash for yourself?"

"Yeah. So... can I have the money?"

"Danny, if you want cash, you're gonna have to earn it yourself."

Danny groaned, tipping his head back. "I was afraid of that..."

"I never understood why you don't just buy it yourself," Frank told his son, looking up from the paper.

"Let's see... there's the fact that I have virtually no money, my profound lack of cash, and... oh, yeah. I'm broke!"

"You're just gonna have to come up with a way to pay for it yourself."

Danny sighed, "that's what Mom said... I just thought you might give it to me."

"Why would I do that? You don't need it. If it were a school book, then, yes. It'd give you the money."

"You'd give it to me because I'm, uh, you're... favorite?"

"You know I don't have favorites. You're gonna have to get a job like the rest of us."

Danny followed his new boss, listening to what he had to do. "Ya got that, kid?"

"Yeah, absolutely."

"Good. I'm not going to explain it to you again. You're on the cash register."

"Linda!" Danny blushed slightly. "What're you doing here?"

"I'm here to support you on your quest for cold, hard cash... so I'd like an eight piece chicken nugget, large fry, and, uh... medium drink... ready for more?"

"More?"

"I'd like an eight piece chicken strip, another large fry, and another medium drink."

"You're gonna eat all that?"

"No, silly! I've got a date."

Danny raised his eyebrows, "who?"

"A cute little kid. Maybe you know him? Jamie Reagan?"

"You're a mean person, you know that?"

Linda shrugged, "I'm helping to get rid of your 'profound lack of cash'."

"Thank you... hey, I'm off in, like, two minutes. Wanna make your twosome a threesome?"

Linda smiled cheekily, "sure."
