Day 21: Tower

A small blonde boy sat in front of a tower of blocks that was taller than he was, staring up at it glumly.

"What's wrong, Colin?" his teacher asked, pausing as she walked by.

"I want to make my tower really, really big," the boy explained, "But I can't reach to put anymore blocks on, even on my tippy-toes."

"Ah," the teacher gave him a small smile, "Well, it's already a great tower, but maybe I can come back and help you in a few minutes, after I check on the other children. Alright?"

Colin shrugged, "Yeah, I guess." He really wanted to make the biggest tower ever all by himself. The teacher walked away and Colin went back to staring up at his tower glumly, wishing he could add another piece to it. Suddenly, to the little boy's astonishment, a block floated up in front of him and landed neatly on the top of the tower. Colin's eyes darted from the tower to the pile of blocks on the floor next to him. Had he done that?

He concentrated on one of the blocks on the floor and it floated up in the air. Colin turned his head toward the tower and the block seemed to follow the movement of his eyes until it too landed neatly on top of the tower.

When the teacher returned a few minutes later, she found a beaming Colin standing proudly in front of a tower of blocks that reached to within an inch of the classroom's ceiling.

She stared, wide-eyed, "Colin... how?"

"They just floated up in the air!" Colin was breathless with excitement, "I think I moved them with my mind, Teacher!"

"Oh, I see," the teacher smiled a little at the little boy's imagination. Then she glanced up at the tower again. Colin's explanation couldn't be true; that was absurd... but how had he gotten the tower so tall?

Some accidental magic by Colin Creevey. Review?
