Heya everyone. Finally got a new computer after my laptop of six years died on me for good. I realized I just ain't comfortable writing fanfics on my parent's computer by the way. Funny isn't it. Well here's chapter 21 and funny enough today, April 9th, is my 21st birthday lol. Enjoy.
...
Itachi's dream's had always been plagued by nightmares for as long as he could remember. They started when he was young. He had first had one the night he had first stumbled upon the dead bodies during the war when he was just a child. His training that his father put him through pushed them from his mind for the most part as he became a shell of who he had been. Shisui had tried to bring him back and he had begun to make progress when he died. The nightmares kicked back up full swing but were worse. Tonight was one of those nights.
The dream started fairly peacefully. The leaf village was silent and he had been taking a stroll through the compound and soon found himself along the river where he found Shisui. The events were not at all like they had happened.
"Why'd you do this to me?!" The gurgled sound of Shisui said as his hands that were clutching his eyes lowered and revealed the bloody, empty eye sockets and his hands were out stretched and filled with his blood and one eye. His own eye. "It's all your… fault!" His accusation was interrupted by a hacking cough as he choked on the blood that filled his mouth. His cheeks began to hollow out and sink inward following suit was his eye sockets. The eye sockets began to take on a grey and purple hue and a blood curdling scream escaped from his mouth.
The ghosts of his family appeared around him and they each called out to him.
"Itachi." The soft tender voice of his mother spoke up first. She stepped towards him first. She smiled but then doubled over and howled in pain. "Why!" She sobbed. "Why would you do this?!" She clutched her stomach. Blood began to pour unrealistically from a wound that appeared on her stomach. All around her were other Uchiha who's wounds were just as bloody and their features were sunken and grey. Their cries were heart wrenching and raspy as they choked and coughed. Despite not being the one who killed them all, Itachi felt responsible for the death of each and every Uchiha during the massacre. His victims since joining the Akastuki came up behind the already enormous crowd. They came closer and grabbed at him and their blood smeared on him as they groped for him. He backed away until he was on the edge of what became a cliff and he fell…
The scene wavered however before he had the chance to wake up covered in sweat however. Instead, he found himself sitting in a field outside the village next to Shisui.
"Today actually scared me today, Itachi." Shisui admitted as he leaned back and looked up at the stars. He glanced over at his cousin to gauge his reaction and wasn't surprised to see his mouth was open with nothing to say. He was shocked to say the least. "If it hadn't been for her I…"
"You would still be here." Itachi completed Shisui's sentence for him. Shisui knew this was not the case but decided this was not a battle he wanted to win.
"Yeah…" Shisui sighed. "I know she's new but give her a chance. There's something about her. She's not lying."
The dream faded and Itachi woke feeling completely off. It wasn't the fact that there was another person in his residence, though that could play a part in it, but it definitely had something to do with that dream he had. For years it had been the same, but now it was different. The look of fear. The expression of fear. Those were things he had never seen from Shisui during the time he had lived and yet it seemed so… real…
The sun hadn't risen yet but Itachi had no intention of returning to sleep. He left his room and went to the backyard to train where he found Sakura sitting criss-cross meditating with chakra threads gently flowing below her. They kept her half a foot off the ground and this was a method Itachi had never seen practiced. He activated his sharingan to examine the technique and noticed that it seems to keep one's near perfect chakra control sharp and perfect it even more if used to its optimum potential. The young woman before him knew exactly what she was doing as her precision was so precise that even Itachi's sharingan could barely detect a flaw. Itachi couldn't help but want to marvel at the sight as he believed such perfection could not exist. He did no such thing though.
Sakura was quick to notice his arrival and finished up her training and stretched out. She had been sitting in that position for the last hour as she worked her chakra channels from basic to complex exercises in that timeframe. She knew not to do anything strenuous though.
"Good morning Uchiha." Sakura greeted Itachi as she got up off the ground and brushed the dirt off the black shorts and the edge of the plain red version of her normal garbs that was void of her clans emblem. She knew that until she had this under control she needed to hide that she's a Haruno just in case she runs into the wrong person. Now that she knows that it was tied to Madara she had to be extra careful.
"Miss Sakura, good morning." Itachi gave a curt nod in her direction then made his way towards the practice dummy he had set up to the left of where Sakura had been training.
"I will return to my room. Since you are boarding me, is there anything you would want me to prepare for lunch?" Sakura asked as she stood at the backdoor of the house. She glanced over her shoulder back at Itachi who was practicing taijutsu, without the aid of his sharingan. His eyes never left the dummy.
"You are free to do as you wish." Was Itachi's response as he picked up his speed. He added a kick here and there as he quickly changed up his routine.
"I'll think of something." Sakura said as she walked inside the house and shut the door behind herself. The sun was rising in the sky but she wanted to try and sort through what she and Konan had retrieved from the castle while she had time. Sakura went to her room and swung her door shut and didn't even notice that it didn't just barely stayed had a lot to organize and go through before she found herself thrown through time yet again. With a sigh she set to it.
…
Sakura felt her grip slipping and felt like she was falling. She knew she wasn't. Her vision was steady, her grip temporarily grew weak as she watched the scene before her change. She watched as she ran through the woods. Chakra restraints bound her wrists and she was cut up all on her arms and was barefoot. To say she was drenched in sweat and covered in dirt keep going. The trees were tall oaks that had bright green leaves. The grass was full and lush as the trees shaded it from the harsh sun's rays.
Sakura jerked back from the scene in the chair and almost fell out of her seat. It was almost noon. Sighing, she stood up and made her way to the kitchen. She was in the mood for a simple soup with a side if there was a suitable side in the pantry. 20 minutes later, and with Itachi's permission, Sakura had made Salmon and Rice soup from what he had in the kitchen. The two sat in silence but it wasn't awkward.
"I will be leaving. I will return by sun down." Itachi broke the silence after he finished his soup. He found the soup refreshing and light. It was better than most of what he had eaten as of late but was obviously that of a ninja who never really made it their life mission to perfect their cooking.
"I see." Was all Sakura said as she collected the dirty dishes and began washing the dishes. She cleaned them then placed them in the strainer. There weren't many because she had cleaned as she went. "Is something wrong?" She asked. In a way she was trying to gather information but she was trying to gain his trust more. It would take more than this to gain his trust though.
"Hn." Itachi responded. "Refrain from leaving the property." His tone left behind that this was a warning. Sakura knew better than to anger an Uchiha, especially if that Uchiha was Itachi Uchiha. When Itachi had left the room Sakura had took a deep breath a chakra enhanced index finger tip and flicked the back of his seat and blew the back of the seat clear off the chair. She hated when someone said 'hn' instead of actually responding. Made her want to do the same thing with twice the power to someone's arm.
What she wouldn't do for a mission right now. If she could control her ability she could be free. She could return home. Be with her friends, and even find what's left of her family. Having some sort of her normal life back would be great. She would give anything to be back in her own time right now and not trapped in this time alone and unsure of when she'd be thrown into yet another time that could be any time from the beginning to the end of existence for all she knows.
With a sign she returned to her room and back to her studying. She brought out the scroll she had been reading once again and continued from where she left off.
Once every 10 generations a child with great power is born in the clan. They will be capable of many things but these children must be hidden and trained because their power can be corrupted far too easily.
The notes to the side summarized the lengthy paragraph Sakura had read. The abilities were not the same kind that were covered by ninjutsu but one of which she recognized because it was similar to what she was experiencing now. The scroll she was reading was old but had updates that were added throughout the ages. Sakura decided she'd read and memorize the contents of this scroll before Itachi's return and nothing would stop her. She cracked her knuckles and shouted "CHA!" before she got back. It was like her spirit was renewed and she had found some energy that was not there before.
… In the woods a quarter of a mile away…
He was tired and had not seen a single person for weeks. He had found himself lost in the woods and had no knowledge of what was edible in this part of the woods. Deciding to follow the now white smoke of someone's cabin smoke from when they made food for lunch he soon found a cabin and he entered through the back door. He found that only a small pink haired girl was home and thought this would be easy. Pulling a knife from his back pocket, he crept up behind her he was going to slip his knife in front of her neck when both of his shoulders got tapped on.
"Huh?!" She had been alone. He knew that. He peeked into windows around the house to make sure of that. He saw off colored twin faces of the reading girl now behind him.
"Have fun girls." The reading girl said with a wave of her hand and they quickly grabbed him and dragged him away.
Sakura had already gotten the first scroll memorized by this time and had gotten on her way to the next item with was a 382 page leather bound book, strangely enough, that told the lore behind the Harunos and Sakura sure was confused why none of this was taught in the Academy and why she had never heard of it before.
