Cross with you pt. 5
Midorima x Reader
Start here:
"I DO! I will marry you Midorima Shintarou!"
With wide eyes, you dropped the hot coffee on the floor that you were holding.
"SHIT—(NAME)!" you hear someone say, you weren't sure if it is Midorima what—but you didn't care anymore. All that you could only comprehend is that the woman standing in front of you is Midorima's fiancée? Or whoever the fuck she is to him - but it all end as her agreeing to be his wife.
Holy—it doesn't hurt!
Yes, it doesn't hurt—I mean, your burnt hand… it doesn't hurt.
But your heart—it hurt so much.
"I'm okay." You murmured looking down at your hand that is now turning red.
"No! You are not!"
Yes – but it doesn't hurt.
"Let's take care of this in the ER." You hear him say as he held your hand tight and pulled you to cross the street towards the direction of the hospital—leaving the woman earlier on her own.
No one spoke the whole time and when Midorima came back after he asked the nurses to get the prescribed cream for your hand he saw you holding your phone and talking to someone.
"—Yes, in the hospital across—HEY!" Midorima took the phone from your hand and glared at you before he spoke to the other one on the line.
"Good day, this is Midorima Shintarou, I will bring her home. You don't need to worry. It's just a slight burn." Midorima cut the call. It was your mom.
"You didn't have to do that. I can go home on my own."
"I will bring you home. That is what I told your mother."
You stared at Midorima, irritated.
"Give me back my phone." You ordered him.
"You can have it back later." Midorima placed your phone on his coat pocket before walking back to the door. "Wait for me here, I will take care of the things outside."
With that said, you already know what he meant.
To be honest, you can't decipher the emotion that you are feeling right now: anger, irritation, pain, hurt in the emotional sense and many more – you don't even know if you should be crying to get an explanation or to pretend that it doesn't hurt—or you probably just want to hurt him now—but that would be so childish.
You let yourself lay on the bed where you were sitting and let your eyes close to calm your nerves down-minutes later, you can now feel the starting pain of your hand-it fucking hurt.
"—eh? Isn't she the model from that international magazine?"
"So it's true that Midorima-sensei dated her?"
"I thought it was just a rumour?"
"Does it look like it's still a rumour to you?"
"I heard she was studying medicine but changed her career."
You opened your eyes and let their words sink into your head, your hand is painful and so is your heart. Opening the door your eyes met the surprised look on the nurses who are talking outside the room and you could only offer them a small smile.
"Um, excuse me… where is the rest room?" you asked.
"Oh! There's a patient here!" was their surprised reaction "The rest room is over there, straight and turn left." One of them offered.
"Would you like some help with your hand?" the other one said as she noticed your bandaged hand.
"Oh, don't worry. I'm cool it's just stinging a little, but its fine now. I can manage." You assured her and proceeded to walk to the direction that she pointed."
-Midorima Shintarou-
"What are you doing here, Emi?" Midorima demanded immediately when he saw Emi waiting for him in the ER information.
"What do you mean? I came here to surprise you with my answer!" She tried to embrace Midorima but he stopped her with his hand which made her chuckle.
"And how come you are here in Japan?"
"I told you the last month that I'll be visiting Japan after my photo shoot?" She wrapped her hand around Midorima's neck and smiled sweetly, "I really wanted to see you! I was surprised when I found the ring on the bed. I didn't expect for you to surprise me like that."
Midorima groaned and tried to pry off her hand around his neck.
"Please act modestly, this is a public place and my workplace." He pressed, "You shouldn't have caused a scene like that—people might misunderstand what they hear."
"Then if it's not in the hospital, I can hold you?" she asked sweetly.
"Don't be absurd!" he almost shouted "How did you even get into my apartment?"
"You left the key in my apartment when you flew back here for good."
Midorima sighed heavily.
"Anyways, it seems like the whole hospital is now aware of our little relationship." She whispered as she looked past Midorima and specifically at the hospital staff who are now whispering about overhearing their conversation.
Emi smiled and bowed at the people around them with a sweet smile, some people blushed and some giggled in happiness for being noticed by the model and Midorima could only frown and grab the wrist of the woman in front of him and drag her outside the hospital.
"Go back!"
"Eh!? Are you throwing your fiancé out of your workplace?"
"I don't have patience for your childishness, Emi." Midorima said seriously, "Don't do this again, or I won't forgive you."
"Fine, fine." She chuckled, "See you later, darling!" she sang before walking off.
Midorima pushed his glasses and went back inside the hospital but not before glaring at the eavesdropping hospital staff.
"Shouldn't you be doing your work?" he snapped at them.
"Don't be so mean!" one of the doctors told him, "We didn't intend to overhear your conversation with her."
"Yet you didn't stop them." Midorima said.
"Well, that is not my fault. Anyways, just answer my question: did you really propose to her?"
Midorima stared at the other doctor blankly.
"No. She decided it by herself." He groaned before walking past him.
Midorima massaged the bridge of his nose—he know incidents like this are a very huge pain in the ass—and he regret the day that he let that woman into his life, but he never thought it will be up to this extent.
-Midorima Shintarou-
"What happened?" you looked at your niece blankly—like 'what are you talking about?' kind of look.
"Your hands." She glared at your bandaged hand.
"Oh." You looked lifted your wounded hand and said, "I was in Starbucks. And I accidentally spilled hot water on my hand."
"That's very careless." It was your mom who spoke this time. She was standing at the front door, arms cross on her chest.
"So unlike you." she added.
"Accidents happen." You said as you try to enter the house.
"One question." She called out before you walked past her.
"Hm?"
"The one who answered your phone, is it the same Midorima Shintarou from before?"
You froze and closed your eyes.
"Yes. Seems like it."
"And?" you looked over your shoulder to your mom's direction.
"What do you mean 'and'?" you grumbled, a little irritated at the question. "Mom, Yuki's friend is his sister—just so you know."
"You mean Shiori?"
"Yes." You rolled your eyes.
"Why was I not informed of that?"
"Because it doesn't matter?" you suggested. "Oh—he might come over, since he told you he'll bring me home or something—But I didn't want to bother him—so I took the cab. Tell him 'thank you' tho."
Without looking back, you went upstairs to your room and didn't even try to listen what your mother had to say.
-Midorima Shintarou-
Midorima opened the door to the room where he left you and found it empty.
"Damnit, (Name)!" he cursed and immediately turned to the nurse stationed across the room.
"You two, over there!" he called, "Where is the patient here?"
"Eh!? She was not there, Midorima-sensei?" one of the nurses went inside to check and was surprised, "She said she'll just use the comfort room not a while ago?"
"The comfort room?" Midorima frowned, "There's one inside the room." He pointed and the nurse paled.
"We're very sorry, Sensei."
"It doesn't matter." Midorima left the nurses and grabbed his keys from his clinic then picked his phone to call you.
Your phone rang, but then felt something vibrated in his pocket.
"Give me back my phone." You ordered him. "You can have it back later." Midorima placed your phone on his coat pocket before walking back to the door. "Wait for me here, I will take care of things outside."
Midorima grumbled a slight curse under his breath upon remembering that he took your phone and proceeded to the parking lot.
He needs to drive to your house and talk to you—explain everything before it gets out of hand.
