Linda stood in the cold, wrapping her sweater tighter around her. The wind whipped her hair as she watched another malfunction happen. The car was Henry's- almost as old as the one they got rid of. She sighed as she pulled her cellphone out, calling her best friend. She counted the rings, sighing when he answered on the fourth ring.

"What's the problem, babe?"

"What makes you think there's a problem?" She tried to sound nonchalant.

"It's really late; I'm already home, and in bed. You had an afternoon shift, 4-10. It's past midnight. What's wrong?" Danny was ready to fly over to her if she needed him.

"The car broke down. There was this... clunking, and it- it just— stopped."

"Are you okay?"

"Just a little shaken up, y'know? I just wanna get home."

"I want you here, too. Who's over there with you?"

"Fire department, police are coming, dmv is supposed to be here..." she looked to her right where the car was.

"Hey!" Danny heard her yell, "What the hell are you doing? Why is it on fire?!"

"Linda," Danny tried to get her attention, while she continued to yell, "Linda. Linda! Linda!!"

"What?!"

"Why's the car on fire?"

"Something electrical, I guess! I have to go, I'll call you back." Linda hung up, pocketing her cell.

"What the hell happened?!"

"Oh, it's Danny," Jamie said, "put it on speaker phone, would you?"

Eddie pressed the speaker button.

"Hey, kid. Thanks for picking Linda up," Danny's voice filled the RMP.

"No problem. We're on our way over now."

"Great... listen, I know she can hold her own, but take care of her, huh? She may be a nut, but she's my nut."

Jamie smiled, "Will do, Danny."

"Thanks, kid. I owe you one."

"Don't mention it. Linda's family."

"Yeah, figured I've stuck with her this long, What's forty, fifty more years?"

Jamie smirked, liking how Linda and Danny always joked about how long they'd been together. "You wouldn't want to lose her— she keeps you in check!"

"I know she does. Thanks a bunch, kid. See ya Sunday?"

"Sunday," the cop agreed, nodding.

"Good night, Linda."

"Good ni—" she frowned, "oh! Every time!"

Danny chuckled, "I love you."

"Love you more."

"Love you most. I'll wait up for you. I wanna cash in on my debt. It's late, but who the hell cares?"

Linda smiled, "see you in about five minutes."

"I'll be waiting." He hung up.

Eddie turned around, "and they say he's a hard ass?"

"I know, right?"

"What's this debt he talks about?"

Linda smiled, "we bet on a lot of thinks. Usually with food or drinks or kisses or something. We played a card game, he owes me about a thousand k's."

"A thousand kisses?" Eddie smiled widely as Linda nodded.

"Thanks for getting me," the wife said as Jamie pulled into her driveway.

"No problem. See you Sunday."

"If not sooner," Linda grabbed her purse.

"Have fun."

"Oh, you know I will," she said almost deviously, getting out of the car. "Thanks again!" She waved to the cop team, watching them leave.

"They're cute," Eddie told Jamie as they drove back to the station.

"Not if you're around them a lot."

"Oh come on, Jamie! You know how I'm against all that gushy romantic crap, but your brother and his wife are really adorable. They've known each other for a hundred years, and they're still so much in love. When I get married, I want a marriage like that."

Jamie smiled and rolled his eyes. He wasn't going to admit it, but he wanted that as well. He never knew that he'd find it with the person sitting next to him.
